More Black Babies in New York City are Aborted Than Born Alive

The womb is an extremely dangerous place for black babies in New York City, where new numbers show that black babies are more likely to be aborted than born.

The new pregnancy statistics come from the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene for 2013. The shocking results show that 54.6 percent of black babies in healthy pregnancies were aborted that year. This means 79 black babies are aborted in the city every day and 66 are born alive. In other words, for every 1,000 black babies born in New York City every year, 1,200 are aborted.

This is a very modest decrease from what the data showed in 2011, when 55.1 percent of black babies were lost to abortion in New York City. In comparison, that year 265 white babies were aborted for every 1,000 born alive in the city, and 517 Hispanic/Latino babies were aborted for every 1,000 born alive.

Walter B. Hoye II, president of the Issues4Life Foundation that mobilizes black leaders for the pro-life cause, urges Black-American leaders to take note of the devastating toll abortion on demand has on the Black community.

He writes on his website that the abortion epidemic in the United States is a form of “Black genocide,” and questions the intentions of those pushing abortion on black communities. Such allegations make sense given that 79 percent of Planned Parenthood abortion facilities are strategically placed in low-income minority areas.
