My mother was a rape victim. My mother could have had an abortion then - they were available - but she chose life for me. But because it was 1955 and unwed mothers had a horrible stigma and no support from the community, AND the further stigma of the rape conceived, she decided I should be adopted. I thank GOD for her choice for life and her sacrifice. I was able to meet my birthmother in 1994 and thank her in person. She said I was the light that made her carry on in those dark days after her rape. She loved me. She loved life. When I tell my story, I honor her and her love of LIFE.
