Abortion Activist Says Killing Newborns May Be Justifiable

BY: Stephen Gutowski
The Washington Free Beacon

While putting on a demonstration at Ohio State University a pro-life group called Created Equal was confronted by an abortion rights counter-protester.

In a video posted to YouTube (see below) on Sept. 26, the abortion-rights advocate told the pro-life group she couldn’t say for sure whether killing a baby two minutes after its birth is always wrong.

“I have no idea what medical necessities or medical issues would arise that would necessitate that,” the woman said according to Life News.

But the pro-life advocates with Created Equal saw that pro-abortion argument taken to the next level when they visited Ohio State University. There, one abortion activist said she saw no problem with infanticide, saying there may be medical cases that require killing a newborn baby after birth.
“You’re asking me whether I blanketly believe it’s wrong to kill a newborn baby after that baby’s been taken from it’s mother’s womb,” a protester to Created Equal’s outreach at Ohio State University asks pro-lifers in a newly-released video clip. She continues, “And I’m saying to you I have no idea what medical necessities or medical issues would arise that would necessitate that.”
Pro-life activists say the woman’s support for infanticide is not surprising.
Mark Harrington, director of the pro-life group, told Life News in response: “Why would this defender of abortion refuse to condemn killing babies after birth? Because she knows there is no morally relevant difference between a child immediately before and after birth. Thus, if it were acceptable to kill her inside the womb, it would also be permissible afterward.”

Great News from Mexico City! A Life was Saved....

From Shawn Carney, Campaign Director
40 Days for Life Campaign

The abortion crisis takes more lives globally than war and disease combined. The numbers can be overwhelming ... so the solution must start with prayer.

As 40 Days for Life continues to grow, faithful people in new countries are taking a leap of faith and bringing this campaign to their nations. The languages are different, but the message is the same: “Pray and fast for an end to abortion.”
There’s great news from Lourdes, who is coordinating the first-ever 40 Days for Life vigil in Mexico City.
“A life was saved!” she said.
Vigil participants watched as a couple entered the facility. A few minutes later, the young woman ran out in tears. “The girl was so sad and had panic on her face,” Lourdes said. “That touched all of the volunteers.”

The man really wanted her to go back inside – in fact, he said she had to go back in for the abortion. His whole attitude changed when one of the volunteers said, “That child is also yours.”
The couple then walked away … and never went back in!

There are vigils at 297 locations in 13 countries! Find the one nearest you … and get involved!

SIDEWALK CHRONICLES: THE EXODUS OF BASIC HUMAN DECENCY

by Reverend Katherine Marple
KeepLifeLegal

The ‘post-birth abortion’ idea has been popping up again, prolifers are once again on top of this heinous idea that a newborn’s life can be taken AFTER birth. Now, this isn’t just about if a baby had the audacity to be born alive during an abortion that was meant to take his/her life, this is about people believing they have the right to kill right after birth.
“You’re asking me whether I blanketly believe it’s wrong to kill a newborn baby after that baby’s been taken from it’s mother’s womb. And I’m saying to you I have no idea what medical necessities or medical issues would arise that would necessitate that.” See video below [h/t Created Equal]:

A Thermonuclear Trumpet

Knocking Down the Jericho Wall of Abortion Apathy

By Rolley Haggard
BreakPoint

The apostle Paul noted that “if the trumpet gives an uncertain sound, no one will prepare himself to the battle.” His point: If what we're hearing doesn't sound to us like a clear call from God, even when it is, we're unlikely to mobilize.
History bears this out. It is precisely what happened with the transatlantic slave trade. One of the reasons it took so long to end that horrific business is that too few Christians believed that God wanted them to actively oppose it. The biblical message they heard on the issue was confused and indistinct, like a trumpet giving an uncertain sound. As a result there was no consensus, no united front, and slavery continued.
It wasn't that the message was not loud enough: Everyone heard the noise that was being made over slavery. It was that the message was not clear enough: The people of God were getting mixed signals and thus weren't sure what their responsibility was.
From abolitionists they heard biblical arguments against slavery. From some clergy, willing for different reasons to justify slavery, they heard other supposedly “biblical” arguments that either sanctioned slavery, or at the very least downplayed how important it was to God that it be abolished.
The result? The church did not rally to the battle, at least not in sufficient numbers. What the church ought to have done, and arguably could have done, peacefully, the state had to do by bloody civil war.

THAT'S MESSED UP: RECIPE FOR THIS ELECTION CYCLE'S BIRTH CONTROL SOUP-SANDWICH THAT SET PLANNED PARENTHOOD BACKTRACKING

By Rita Diller
American Life League
What happens when you take copious amounts of hormonal carcinogens, steep in utter disregard for humanity, sprinkle with false compassion, stir all in a thinly veiled broth of vote grappling, and spike with pieces of women’s broken health, families torn asunder, and children dead and forgotten? You get something more messed up than the proverbial soup-sandwich. That’s what happens when politicians from divergent parties decide to advocate for more birth control in a quest for votes. That’s the recipe for this election cycle’s soup-sandwich.

For years, Planned Parenthood and its allies have lobbied for over-the-counter “emergency contraception” without age restrictions or medical supervision. EC is a concoction of the hormones in daily contraceptive birth control, given in much larger doses. The abortion giant lobbied, then gave huge kudos to politicians and government officials who helped facilitate that process. Planned Parenthood whines incessantly for expanded access to birth control, as if it were not available for a pittance on every street corner already.

In June 2013, after a federal court ordered over-the-counter availability for EC regardless of the age of young people seeking it, Planned Parenthood head Cecile Richards said, “This is a historic moment for women's health—and a huge step forward in Planned Parenthood's work to expand access to birth control. Hopefully, with this decision, women all over the country will soon be able to walk into a pharmacy and pick up emergency contraception off the shelves, as soon as they need it—no barriers, no shame.”

ABORTION CLINICS IN ILLINOIS AND KANSAS READY TO “ACCOMMODATE SOME EXTRA VOLUME“

Abortionist Dr. Erin King

by Dave Andrusko
National Right to Life News Today

As NRL News Today readers recall, on September 10, the Missouri legislature overrode Governor Jay Nixon’s veto of two very important pro-life bills and one line item veto of a budget increase for Missouri’s Alternatives to Abortion Program. Is anyone—anyone—surprised that abortion clinics outside of Missouri are already trolling for pregnant women?

The best known measure–HB 1307–increases the time of reflection after counseling before an abortion can be performed from 24 hours to 72 hours.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch ran an article today, headlined “Out-of-state abortion providers ready to treat more Missouri women.” The abortion clinics—in Illinois and Kansas—tell reporter Samantha Liss they are not sure if women will come looking but if they do, well, they can count on the Hope Clinic for Women in Granite City, Illinois, and the Wichita, Kansas-based South Wind Women’s Center.

Dr. Erin King is the associate medical director at Hope Clinic for Women which is only 15 minutes from downtown St. Louis. In Liss’s story we read:

16433 Children in One Grave

by Fr. Frank Pavone
National Director, Priests for Life

I had a quick visit to the West Coast this weekend that included praying at a gravesite that contains the bodies of 16,433 children killed by abortion.

The prayer service was part of the National Day of Remembrance, a project organized by Priests for Life, Pro-life Action League and Citizens for a Pro-life Society. On this day, simultaneous memorial services are held at the graves of aborted babies around the nation.

The gravesite at which I prayed, located in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in East Los Angeles, is the largest of the mass graves of children killed by abortion.

In the early 1980's, a man by the name of Malvin Weisburg was operating an outfit called Medical Analytic Laboratories, and he was receiving from abortion clinics around the country the bodies of aborted babies for pathological analysis. When he was done with his work, the bodies of these babies, many of them decapitated by the abortion, and some of them weighing a couple of pounds, were put in plastic containers and ultimately stored in a large waste container that he was renting. In 1982, Weisburg failed to make proper payments on the container, and therefore it was repossessed by the company.

That's when workers discovered what was in it -- the bodies of aborted babies, totaling 16,433. The bodies were taken into the custody of Los Angeles County.

This made news and touched off a firestorm about what should be done with the babies. Pro-life people and public officials got together to call from the release of the bodies for proper burial. Meanwhile, pro-abortion groups, including the ACLU, went to court to block any religious service, or even burial, for these babies. They claimed that the 'separation of church and state' prohibited the state from facilitating a religious service. The court agreed. However, the pro-abortion groups wanted more, namely, to not allow a burial at all. They wanted the bodies cremated and thrown away as medical waste. And forgotten. With this, however, the court did not agree. Even the Supreme Court was petitioned in the matter, and in the end, after a three year battle, the babies were buried on October 6, 1985. Even President Ronald Reagan got involved, and wrote a eulogy that was read at the service, calling for an end to abortion.

For many years, this mass grave had no marker or headstone, just as the children have no names. But now there is a stone, and we are going to name the babies. Supporters of abortion do not want people to see mass graves in our midst. It's too disturbing a reminder of the humanity of the victims of abortion. When people forget, the abortion supporters win; when people remember, we win. That is why we need to keep telling the stories of these graves, and visiting them. And that is why we continue to demand that the bodies of the babies killed by abortionist Kermit Gosnell in Philadelphia be released so that we can bury them.

Ironically, the 16,433 aborted children in Los Angeles could not be buried at the nearby Catholic cemetery; but who is buried there? The late term abortionist James McMahon. God help us.

Notorious Abortionist Hodari Denied License, Lacks “Good Moral Character”

By Cheryl Sullenger
Operation Rescue

Lansing, MI — If you’ve never heard of Michigan abortionist Alberto Hodari, count yourself fortunate. If you have, then what happened recently at the Michigan Board of Medicine should come as a welcome relief.

For those who may not be familiar, Hodari once ran a chain of as many as six abortion mills in Michigan and is among the worst of abortionists, and that’s saying a lot.

Four women are known to have died at Hodari-run abortion facilities, which can aptly be characterized as “mills.” Tamia Russell, 15, died less than 24 hours after a late-term abortion at Hodari’s Lathrup Village facility in 2004. In 2007, a 17-year old Hodari patient died from abortion complications. Chivon Williams died less than six hours after having been released from one of Hodari’s abortion mills following a suction abortion.

BABY “ABORTED” AT 26 WEEKS TO SAVE MOTHER’S LIFE SURVIVES DELIVERY, NOW HEALTHY 10-YEAR-OLD

Natasha Smith’s birth was induced 14 weeks early when her mother developed a life-threatening condition.

By Dave Andrusko
National Right to Life News Today

Ten years ago Norelle Smith and fiance Sandy Cameron were told that Norelle, then 26 weeks pregnant, had toxic pre-eclampsia. “The condition was starving struggling [the baby] in the womb and attacking her mum’s internal organs,” according to the Sunday Post. Their baby, they were told, had stopped developing at 22 weeks and had no chance to survive. They reluctantly agreed to deliver the baby 14 weeks early.
But not only did Natasha (who was born just six inches long and weighed only 1lb 4oz) astonish the medical team by surviving delivery, she overcame all the initial predictions that she would be severely brain damaged and live a few days, at most.
Now she is the apple of her parents’ eye, and has celebrated her 10th birthday—“with a limo party and meal in town with her friends,” according to the Sunday Post!

‘Abortion is sacred,’ Planned Parenthood Volunteer Tells Missouri Legislators

By Ben Johnson
National Black Robe Regiment

As Missouri state legislators grappled with whether to extend the waiting period for an abortion to 72 hours, a Planned Parenthood volunteer had a simple message for them: “Abortion is sacred.”

Those words, emblazoned on a sign held by Juleigh Snell on the south lawn of the state capital in Jefferson City, spoke for many of those present at the “Stand With Missouri Women” rally. Snell, who describes herself as an atheist, drove 150 miles from her home in Alton, Illinois – the hometown of Eagle Forum founder Phyllis Schlafly – for the demonstration on the capitol steps.

“Our health care, our bodies, our choices,” Snell told The Missourian at one of two rallies designed to sway lawmakers.

Pivoting from its previous depiction of abortion as a necessary evil, the abortion industry and its political stalwarts have increasingly begun describing abortion as a positive, even holy, event.

Last August, Wendy Davis said she launched the 11-hour filibuster that thrust her into the limelight, because “sometimes you have to take a stand on sacred ground.”

Two months earlier, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi referred to the issue of abortion as “sacred ground” while deflecting a question from a reporter from The Weekly Standard.

Topless protesters with the group Femen chanted “abortion is sacred” while attacking the Archbishop of Madrid, Cardinal Antonio Rouco Varela, in February.

Indiana Attorney General Complaints Highlight Abortionists’ Negligence and Contempt for Law

By Cheryl Sullenger
Operation Rescue

Indianapolis, Indiana – It started with a simple request for public records and has so far led to criminal charges in two counties Indiana Counties and allegations of negligence brought by the State Attorney General’s office against four abortionists.

And it’s not over yet.

“It is possible that at least one abortionist could lose his medical license and three others could face stiff discipline in the form of suspension and fines,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman, who consulted with Indiana Right to Life as they sought abortion information that Indiana law requires abortionists to file twice a year.

“The work that Indiana Right to Life put into combing through the thousands of records they received and the discovery of over 1,800 violations of the reporting law exceeded every expectation. There was a suspicion that abortionists were not in full compliance, but what those records revealed was that the abortion cartel’s contempt for the law is systemic – and dangerous.”

Ezekiel Emanuel: We Should Die at 75

Ezekiel Emanuel

By Wesley J. Smith
National Right to Life News Today
Ezekiel Emanuel is one of the nation’s premier Obamacarians. He has the president’s ear. He is for health care rationing. And now, he wants us to die at 75.
He doesn’t put it quite like that, writing in the first person. But make no mistake: That is his essential message. From ”Why I Hope to Die at 75," in the Atlantic:
"Here is a simple truth that many of us seem to resist: living too long is also a loss. It renders many of us, if not disabled, then faltering and declining, a state that may not be worse than death but is nonetheless deprived.
It robs us of our creativity and ability to contribute to work, society, the world. It transforms how people experience us, relate to us, and, most important, remember us. We are no longer remembered as vibrant and engaged but as feeble, ineffectual, even pathetic.

"Gosnell of Michigan" Found Negligent and Incompetent by Administrative Judge

 By Cheryl Sullenger
Operation Rescue

Lansing, MI - A scathing report has been issued by Michigan Administrative Law Judge Shawn Downey, who has found that Muskegon abortionist Robert Alexander is responsible for negligence and incompetence under the state's Public Health Code in a case involving filthy "Gosnell-like" conditions at Alexander's Muskegon abortion business.

Judge Downey based his conclusions on testimony and evidence presented at a disciplinary hearing held on September 3, 2014. His report has been forwarded to the Michigan Board of Physicians, which will later decide on a course of disciplinary action that could include license revocation.

"Anything short of permanent license revocation is completely unacceptable," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. "Alexander has proved time and again that he is unfit to practice. Given the dangerous conditions and appalling practices that endangered the lives hundreds of women. Discipline should be swift and severe."

Purveyors of Abortion

by Barney Byrne

In the Intelligencer's Guest Opinion Column, of September 19th, Kate Michelman and Sue Frietsche expound how "Doctors aren't Dummies", and as such they should not have to obey the laws on Abortion that are passed by our lawfully elected representatives.  They use their column as an advertisement to promote their support for the  Patient Trust Act, which they purport to imply that our politicians are trying to put words in the mouths of our doctors supporting beliefs that are untrue.

They claim that five states force doctors to advise a patient that an abortion will affect her future fertility.  While their article implies that this scenario is untrue, there are many studies that show it is true.  a.k.a. The Mayo Clinic has done studies that show previous abortions can cause vaginal bleeding, early births, low birth weights and Placenta problems when a woman seeks to have a normal  pregnancy after having an Abortion.

They also state, among other unsubstantiated  claims that, fetuses feeling  pain, has not been medically proven.  It is very easy to look on the internet and learn, that it has been proven and accepted by the majority of the medical profession ,that fetuses can feel pain by 20 weeks gestation and sometimes much earlier.  This has been proven by the use of Sonograms and Ultra Sound Images.

They state "Doctors aren't Dummies", and they know in the deepest part of their hearts that the vast majority of Americans are not Dummies either.  More and more Americans are learning that a life is a life and that every fetus is a life.  It's time for these purveyors of Abortion, to take their place on the ash heap of history.

THE GHOSTS OF SIDEWALK MINISTRY

PROLIFE WARRIORS

by Reverend Katherine Marple
KeepLifeLegal

Divisiveness is what kills a great outreach. It’s the best excuse that Pastors use to stay away from an uncomfortable ministry at the abortion facilities – AND laziness. So, this prompted me to tell the short story of how this Evangelical Christian was moved to get into Prolife Ministry by Catholics and others.
Many so-called prolife ministries want to be so divisive that they step over the dead aborted babies to get to the prolifer that’s ‘doing it wrong’. These people use a Bible with pages missing to further their agenda. This has been ongoing, nothing new…but it definitely needs to stop, particularly when violence erupts from this cult. Read that here.

HYPOCRISY AND ZERO TOLERANCE POLICIES

by Judie Brown, President/co-Founder
American Life League

“There should be a zero tolerance policy in the NFL (National Football League) when it comes to domestic violence involving women and children” was the opinion of one commentator on the September 15 Anderson Cooper 360 CNN news report. These comments came in response to the Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson scandals in the news this past week. Rice allegedly knocked out his then fiancée (now wife) several months ago. Peterson allegedly whipped his four-year-old child with a switch and drew blood.

Every case of domestic violence is a case of criminal proportions that should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, be it abuse of a female or the abuse of a child. Today’s news stories make clear that the situation is grave and that incidents of domestic abuse are not on the decrease.

But these sad commentaries on current domestic violence cases are not the only thing that troubles this pro-life leader. In fact, they are merely the tip of the iceberg. Allow me to examine what is beneath the veneer of such reporting by the media.

I believe that these tragic situations receive the attention of the news media because they are not only horrendous, but assist the media in hiding behind the false concern they express for women and children in such cases as they blithely look the other way when it comes to expectant mothers and their preborn children. Mainstream media does not define the act of abortion—the ultimate child abuse—as an act of violence because the law states that these preborn babies are not human beings. By the same token, the abortionist who maims or often kills a patient is rarely exposed by the press unless, of course, a practitioner as vile as someone like Gosnell can no longer be ignored.

The GOP Answer to “War on Women”: Capitulation

by Kenneth D. Whitehead
Crisis Magazine

A little while back in Crisis, I wrote about how supposedly pro-life Catholic candidate for a Virginia Senate seat, Ed Gillespie, when accused of wanting to overturnRoe v. Wade and enact a personhood amendment to the Constitution—as well as to “ban certain forms of contraception”—oddly replied that he actually wanted to make “contraceptives easier to obtain” by making birth control pills available without a prescription. At the same time, he skipped over the Roe v. Wade question entirely while in effect denying that he had ever favored a personhood amendment—even though support for such an amendment was included in the Republican Party’s platform while Ed Gillespie was chairman of the Republican National Committee.
The candidate’s reply thus did not seem to fit the charge lodged against him, or at any rate all of it. Accused of favoring typical measures constituting what Democrats characterize as a “war on women,” Gillespie instead hastened to make sure that the whole world knew that what he actually favored was an important element in the anti-life agenda of the Democrats. For some this reply may have seemed to be a fluke or a lapse or an inconsistency on the part of a professed pro-life candidate (who also happens to be a Catholic).
It turns out, however, that for some Republicans this seems to have become the preferred reply to the charge of conducting a “war on women”; it may even signal a trend. Colorado Republican congressman Cory Gardner for example, who is challenging Democratic senator Mark Udall, has not only adopted the same line in favor of the promotion of contraception; he has actually produced a television ad in which he assures a group of women, sympathetically nodding their heads in agreement, that: “I believe the pill ought to be available over the counter, around the clock, without a prescription, cheaper and easier for you.” And not only does Cory Gardner endorse birth control; he waxes enthusiastic about it; his plan, he tells the women in the ad, means “more rights, more freedom, more control for you.”
Kenneth D. Whitehead is a former career diplomat who served in Rome and the Middle East and as the chief of the Arabic Service of the Voice of America. For eight years he served as executive vice president of Catholics United for the Faith. He also served as a United States Assistant Secretary of Education during the Reagan Administration. He is the author of The Renewed Church: The Second Vatican Council’s Enduring Teaching about the Church (Sapientia Press, 2009) and, most recently, Affirming Religious Freedom: How Vatican Council II Developed the Church’s Teaching to Meet Today’s Needs (St. Paul’s, 2010).
