Actress Ashley Judd Glad She Was Able to Abort Her Baby Instead of Having to “Deliver a Child”

By Micaiah Bilger
Live News

Actress Ashley Judd spoke during the Democratic National Convention this week about protecting the rights of sexual assault survivors like herself. Unfortunately, Judd also gave a passionate plea for legalized abortion on demand.

The actress spoke during an event hosted by NARAL, a radical pro-abortion group that supports abortion, not just in the rare cases, but for any reason up until birth. Earlier in the week, NARAL president Ilyse Hogue proudly bragged about her abortion at the DNC as the crowd cheered.

New York Magazine reports Judd told the NARAL “Men for Choice” crowd about how she became pregnant after she was raped. She said she made the “excruciating decision” to have an abortion, and now she is glad she did.

“If abortion had not been safe and legal at that time, I would have been forced to carry to term and deliver a child that was conceived in rape,” Judd said.
The report continues:
“We are a great country, and rapists have paternity rights in 22 states, including the state in which I was raped and the state which my rapist is from,” Judd went on. In many of those states, parental rights can’t be terminated unless the attacker is convicted of sexual assault, which as we’ve seen lately is not always easy to achieve, even in the cases when women report their rapes, which in the majority of cases they do not.
It’s protecting her right to decide what to do with her body, Judd says of why she’s with Hillary Clinton, because she can’t imagine a world in which the law would have required her to make a different choice than she did. “I am very grateful to NARAL and Men for Choice for allowing me the dignity to make that excruciating decision for myself.

Sexual assault is horrible, and survivors like Judd deserve the best care and support that society can provide. But, as is the case with Judd, sometimes rape results in the creation of a second victim – a child. That child, who did nothing wrong, also deserves care and support, not death.

Many pro-lifers do agree with Judd on one thing: It should be easier to terminate rapists’ parental rights. Women can be driven to abortion by the fear that having their child will force them to maintain contact with their abuser.

Mike Pence: “The Great Work of Crisis Pregnancy Centers is Changing Hearts, Minds Every Day”

By Jay Hobbs
National Right to Life

Speaking on The O’Reilly Factor on Wednesday night, Republican Vice-Presidential nominee Indiana Gov. Mike Pence made a strong endorsement of community funded pregnancy help organizations.

Asked about his thoughts on Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision that made abortion on-demand the law of the land in all 50 states, Pence said that while voters at the state level should decide the issue, he hopes recent gains by the pro-life community are an indicator of things to come.

“I hope to live to see the day when we restore the sanctity of life back to the center of the law,” Pence said. “I’m pro-life, I don’t apologize for it. I truly do believe that Roe v. Wade was wrongly decided and… overturned over a century of pro-life laws that had been enacted through the democratic process in all 50 states.

“But, we’re making great progress. More people today embrace the sanctity of life than ever before. The great work of crisis pregnancy centers across my state and across this nation is changing hearts and changing minds every day.”

As governor of Indiana, Pence authorized $3.5 million in Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) to go to pregnancy help organizations in the current budget cycle after a $1 million pilot program through Real Alternatives served over 8,400 clients in the state last year.

Pence, who was elected governor in 2013, was tabbed July 15 by Donald J. Trump as his pick for Vice Presidential nominee.

Asked by host Bill O’Reilly how he responds to the abortion lobby’s allegations that he is anti-woman because of his pro-life stance, Pence brushed off the accusations.

“That just comes with the territory,” Pence said. “People who know me and look at my administration in the state of Indiana—we’ve had women in senior leadership in our cabinet positions and women in senior leadership in our executive branch. We’ve celebrated the accomplishments of women all across the state of Indiana.

“We’ll let the left do their [thing], the way they like to divide things up and segment the population, but we’re going to promote the policies that are going to benefit all Americans.”

The Party of Abortion

Marjorie Dannenfelser
President, Susan B. Anthony List

This past week as the Democrats held their national convention in Philadelphia, America got a glimpse at what this party has become. And it is not pretty.

Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood was one of the featured speakers. Remember that Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion business in America, killing a third of a million innocent unborn babies every year. And this is the same business that receives $1.26 MILLION of our taxpayer dollars. Every. Single. Day.

Richards proudly exclaimed, “Hillary has always been in Planned Parenthood’s corner.”

It’s hard to even imagine just how much damage the Planned Parenthood-Hillary Clinton alliance would do if Clinton wins in November. We already know that the new Democrat platform (the most pro-abortion in history) calls for pro-life Americans like you and I to be forced to pay for abortions with our hard-earned tax dollars.

But my heart stopped when NARAL president Ilyse Hogue took to the stage and proudly shared that her child was killed by abortion. The crowd erupted in applause - I could hardly believe what I was watching.

How heartless has the Democratic Party become that they would break out in applause at the news that a helpless unborn child’s life had been snuffed out in such a cruel way?

I’m writing to you because I know that you are on the side of LIFE, and I know that like me, you won’t stand for this radical pro-abortion extremism. This is not who we are as Americans.

So your SBA List team is fighting back.

We’ve been on the ground since October of last year, knocking on over 465,000 doors in Florida, North Carolina and Ohio to inform voters of Clinton’s extremism, and to get out the pro-life vote. Our ambitious goal is to knock on 1,000,000 doors by November – a goal we can reach with you on our side.

Now is the time to take a stand for LIFE. Please make a generous gift today to enable us to continue expanding our critical field program in key swing states and fight Planned Parenthood’s abortion extremism.

United Nations Strongly Urges Philippines to Legalize Abortion “Without Delay”

By Danny David
Live Action News

In a report released last Friday, the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) urged lawmakers in the Philippines to legalize abortion “without delay.” Abortion is currently banned in the Philippines with no explicit exceptions.

After discussing multiple issues related to the treatment of women in the Philippines, such as human trafficking and gender equality in the workplace and government, the Committee implies that the nation’s current ban on abortion is another example of discrimination against women. CEDAW proceeds to re-recommend its own recommendations from an earlier report…

The Committee recommends that the State party fully implement, without delay, all the recommendations issued by the Committee in 2015 in the report on its inquiry (CEDAW/C/OP.8/PHL/1, paras 49 to 52), including…legalization of abortion under certain circumstances.
Melissa Upreti, regional director for Asia at the Center for Reproductive Rights, praised the report: “We commend the U.N. Committee for once again urging the government to fully ensure women’s reproductive health and end discrimination against women by…legalizing abortion.” On its website, the Center for Reproductive Rights declares that “all governments are legally obligated” to support “reproductive freedom,” including abortion.

Mexican State Votes to Ban Abortions and “Protect Life From Conception”

By Micaiah Bilger
Life News

The Mexican state of Veracruz approved a constitutional amendment on Thursday that effectively bans abortions by recognizing that unborn babies deserve protection.

The Guardian reports outgoing Veracruz Gov. Javier Duarte was one of the strongest advocate for the pro-life law, which “protect[s] life from conception.”

“I congratulate legislators of the Veracruz legislature for saying yes to life,” Duarte tweeted after the vote.

The legislation has one more step to pass through before it goes into effect. A majority of the state municipalities must approve the measure, and news outlets predicted that they are likely to do so.

Unsurprisingly, abortion activists attacked state legislators for the move, saying they should focus on problems with crime instead of abortion.

“What this means is that the governor cares more about life in gestation than the hundreds of disappeared persons in his state,” the Information Group on Reproductive Choice said on Twitter.

Abortion laws vary in Mexico. According to International Business Times:

The abortion law of the country, effective since April 2007, requires Mexico City health services to facilitate free terminations to any woman up to 12 weeks into a pregnancy. However, it has been made illegal by at least 18 states since its liberation.

If approved by the state’s municipalities, Veracruz would become the latest one in the list of the states that have outlawed the procedure.

100,000 Panamanians March Against UN-Style Sex Ed

By Marianna Orlandi, Ph.D
Center for Family and Human Rights (C-Fam)

PANAMA CITY, July 29 (C-Fam) A hundred thousand Panamanians took to their capital city’s streets to oppose a new national bill that would introduce both sexuality education and gender ideology into their schools.

“This law is a colonization attempt. It was written and imposed on Panama by UN Population Fund (UNFPA) and it is not the fruit of our legislature’s will,” Juan Francisco de la Guardia told the Friday Fax. De la Guardia is president of the Panamanian Alliance for Life and Family and one of the march organizers.

Despite the protest, the President of the Panamanian Parliament, Rubén de León Sanchez, said that the law will advance to the health committee and then discussed, once again, by the state’s legislature.

The bill, introduced by deputy of the Democratic Revolutionary Party Crispiano Adames, is modeled after the “Comprehensive Sexuality Education” (CSE) sponsored by UN agencies. The programs, whose biases have already been exposed by several commentators, are based on the recognition of minors’ entitlement to “sexual and reproductive health and rights.”

Hillary Clinton: “Breaking the Glass Ceiling” Over the Broken Bodies of Unborn Babies

By Dave Andrusko
Life News

As a husband, the father of three adult daughters, a father-in-law to my son’s wife, and the grandfather of Emma, I celebrate that a major political party could endorse a woman for President of the United States. But what I celebrate in principle is what countless millions like me lament in practice: the choice.

Once Hillary Clinton officially became the Democrats’ presidential nominee we were informed (to list just a few items) that we should set “petty partisan differences” aside; recognize that she is more qualified than her husband was when he ran for President (and won) in 1992; and that anything less than flattery of the former Secretary of State is thinly-disguised (or not so thinly-disguised) sexism."

However when you are talking about Hillary Clinton, the epicenter of the worldwide campaign to eradicate not disease but as many “unwanted” unborn babies as possible, then your happiness that a woman can ascend to the most powerful political office in the world is negated by who that woman is.

Put another way, I lament with every fiber in my body that the woman who ”broke the ultimate glass ceiling” did so at least in part over the broken bodies of unborn babies all over the world.

In what sense is that charge true, and not an exaggeration? If you go elsewhere on NRL News Today, you’ll find a story by Political Director Karen Cross that compares Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump on abortion which links to a downloadable flyer.

So let me offer just a few additional points here.

Is there an abortion–any time, any place, for any reason–that Clinton would say, “That goes too far.”  No.

Does the unborn child have any recognizable rights, let alone constitutional protections?

In April, Chuck Todd, on Meet the Press, asked Clinton: “When, or if, does an unborn child have constitutional rights?” She answered, “Well, under our laws currently, that is not something that exists. The unborn person doesn’t have constitutional rights.”

On the off-off chance Clinton wanted some wiggle room, two days later, Paula Faris (ofThe View) asked this follow up question:

“And Secretary, I want to ask you about some comments that you made over the weekend on Meet the Press regarding abortion. You said, ‘the unborn person doesn’t have constitutional rights.’ My question is at what point does someone have constitutional rights, and are you saying that a child, on its due date, just hours before delivery still has no constitutional rights?
Clinton responded,
“Under our law, that is the case, Paula. I support Roe v Wade.”
By overwhelming margins, the American people do not want to finance abortions. Surely, as a “pro-choicer,” Clinton believes that the public should have the choice whether to pay for abortions, right?

Clinton VP Tim Kaine Endorses Taxpayer Funding for Abortion

By Calvin Freiburger
Live Action News

Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign has confirmed that her running mate, Virginia Senator and former Governor Tim Kaine, “privately” assured Clinton he now supports repealing the Hyde Amendment.

As recently as July 6, Kaine said he supported Hyde, which forbids federal tax dollars from being spent on elective abortions. This is the latest shift Kaine has made, as abortion advocates continue to complain that his past is too mixed on the issue.Kaine supported some incremental pro-life measures as governor, such as parental notification and banning partial-birth abortion. But he ran for Senate vowing to protect Roe v. Wade, and once there, established a 100 percent pro-abortion voting record.

After joining Clinton’s ticket, Kaine declared he was “very strongly supportive” of the “right” to abortion.
“Just 20 days ago, Senator Kaine said he supported the Hyde Amendment, which stops taxpayers from funding abortion on-demand,” Susan B. Anthony List president Marjorie Dannenfelser said in response to his latest reversal. “What has changed?”
“The Democratic Party has become so bound to the abortion industry that there is no room for conscience,” she continued. “Before he could be considered fit for the role of VP to Hillary Clinton, Sen. Kaine had to divest himself of even the appearance of moderation on the abortion issue. Last month, he even sponsored legislation to wipe out every state pro-life law on the books.

Conscientious Objection, Conscience Rights and Workplace Discrimination

By Nancy Valko
National Right to Life

The tragic cases of Nancy Cruzan and Christine Busalacchi , young Missouri women who were claimed to be in a “persistent vegetative state” and starved and dehydrated to death, outraged those of us in Missouri Nurses for Life and we took action.

Besides educating people about severe brain damage, treatment, cases of recovery and the radical change in medical ethics that could lead to the legalization of euthanasia, we also fought for healthcare providers’ rights against workplace discrimination for refusing to participate in deliberate death decisions. We talked to nurses who were threatened with termination.

Although Missouri had some protections against forcing participation in abortion, there were no statutes we could find where health care providers were protected against being forced to participate in deliberate death decisions. We were also told by some legislators that our chance of success was almost nil.

Nevertheless, we persisted and after years of work and enduring legislators watering down our original proposal to include lethal overdoses and strong penalties, Missouri Revised Statutes, Section 404.872.1 was signed into law in 1992.

It states:

Refusal to honor health care decision, discrimination prohibited, when.

404.872. No physician, nurse, or other individual who is a health care provider or an employee of a health care facility shall be discharged or otherwise discriminated against in his employment or employment application for refusing to honor a health care decision withholding or withdrawing life-sustaining treatment if such refusal is based upon the individual’s religious beliefs, or sincerely held moral convictions. (L. 1992 S.B. 573 & 634 § 7)
Fast Forward to Today

In 2016, we face groups like “Compassion and Choices” that have pushed assisted suicide legislation through in some states and hope for an eventual sweeping Supreme Court decision making assisted suicide a constitutional right like abortion.

Some European countries like Belgium and Holland have virtual euthanasia on demand for even non-terminally ill people of any age. In Canada, their Supreme Court has forced assisted suicide on that country and now the province of Quebec has lethal injection kits available to any doctor.

No Christianity, No Hospitals

Pro-abortion forces should be careful what they wish for,
especially when it comes to Christian hospitals.

by John StoneStreet
BreakPoint

A recent poll by the Pew Research Center found that the percentage of Americans who “think” that religion plays a role in solving important social problems “has fallen significantly” in the past fifteen years.

In 2001, 75 percent of those polled said that religious institutions played such a role in our society. By 2016, the percentage had dropped to 58 percent.

Now what’s changed? There’s no evidence that religious institutions have reduced their efforts in addressing the problems around them. Pew suspects that the drop has something to do with the rise of the so-called “nones,” the religiously unaffiliated.

NEW VIDEO: Exposing Planned Parenthood - again

Lila Rose, President
Live Action

As Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards takes the stage at the Democratic National Convention today, Live Action is releasing a new video that exposes the cruel late-term abortion procedure Planned Parenthood advocates using to end the lives of fully developed preborn children.

In the new four-minute video, former abortionist Dr. Anthony Levatino uses medical animations to show how a third-trimester abortion is committed. At 25 weeks gestation, the baby is already fully developed, can usually survive outside the womb, and can feel the excruciating pain of the abortionist’s needle being thrust into her to end her life.

Most Americans don’t realize that federal law makes it legal to abort babies into the ninth month of pregnancy. Planned Parenthood has consistently fought state and federal restrictions on late-term abortions and lobbies for abortions right up until the moment of birth.

When Cecile Richards speaks today, she will desperately try to cover up this and other gruesome parts of Planned Parenthood’s abortion agenda with euphemisms like ‘women’s health care’ and ‘reproductive rights.’

But we won’t let her get away with it. Live Action developed this video to strip away the flowery language and force our nation’s leaders -- regardless of party -- to see the inhumanity and barbarism that Planned Parenthood is really advocating.

Abortionists are killing close to 13,000 children every year in the third trimester. Instead of making their mark on the world, these children's lives are brutally cut short during a violent late-term abortion.

We need to do all we can to save those precious lives.

Please share our third trimester abortion video on Facebook to expose as many people as you can to its message. For your friends who aren’t on Facebook, email them this link. These two simple acts will change minds and save preborn lives!

You can also view the video below or watch on YouTube using this link.

Live Action exists to expose, inspire, and activate on behalf of the most defenseless.

Video Emerges of Planned Parenthood President at Private DNC Party

by Jason Howerton
The Blaze

Planned Parenthood hosted a very private “Sex, Politics and Cocktails” party during the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia on Tuesday night where the group’s president expressed support for abortion and Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

Mediaite’s Tommy Christopher reported “hundreds of supporters lined up around the block to get into Union Transfer for Planned Parenthood’s invitation-only” soiree.

“I guess the last thing I’ll say is, to be on a stage where we can actually now talk openly about how abortion is a right,” Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards proclaimed. “We have to have it.”

Richards said “it’s no good to have a right if you can’t exercise it.”

The Planned Parenthood boss also heaped praise on Clinton, commending her talking about important issues “up front.”

“I cannot wait until this woman is in the White House,” she added.

Catholic Priest to Pro-Abortion Tim Kaine: “Do Us a Favor, Don’t Show Up in My Communion Line”

By Steven Ertelt
Life News

After a Catholic bishop admonished the pro-abortion Democrat Time Kaine saying that he can’t reconcile his Catholic faith with abortion, another Catholic leader is taking Hillary Clinton’s new running mate to task.

Now, Washington, DC-based Fr. Thomas Petri has sent out a series of tweets addressing the Catholic candidate’s pro-abortion views — with one saying Kaine should not present himself for communion in his church. The tweets appear below:

Senator @timkaine: Do us both a favor. Don't show up in my communion line. I take Canon 915 seriously. It'd be embarrassing for you & for me
.@timkaine -- Self-identified Catholics are not a "thing" in the Catholism. If you don't believe our central tenets, you're not Catholic.
.@timkaine is identified as Catholic. But he thinks abortion is fine & women should be priests. He's either poorly catechized or a dissenter

The Virginia politician is on record as trying to have it both ways — saying he is both a “traditional Catholic” and a strong supporter of abortion. Kaine has a pro-abortion record and the potential Clinton running mate is not fooling anyone. As LifeNews previously reported, Kaine said he is a “strong supporter of Roe v. Wade” despite supposedly being a “traditional Catholic.”

“I have a traditional Catholic personal position, but I am very strongly supportive that women should make these decisions and government shouldn’t intrude,” Kaine said. “I’m a strong supporter of Roe v. Wade and women being able to make these decisions. In government, we have enough things to worry about. We don’t need to make people’s reproductive decisions for them.”
That wasn’t the first time Kaine has attempted to moderate his pro-abortion viewpoint. In an interview with Meet the Press, Tim Kaine, who may be chosen as the pro-abortion candidate’s VP, tried to mask his radical abortion views.

Leading pro-life groups know Kaine is pro-abortion.

“Like Hillary Clinton, Sen. Tim Kaine supports the current policy of abortion on demand,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “Like Hillary Clinton, Sen. Kaine is so extreme on abortion he opposes even the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, legislation to protect unborn children from abortion after 20 weeks, when they are capable of feeling excruciating pain during dismemberment or other late abortion methods.”
As a U.S. senator, Kaine has voted against the pro-life position every chance he got. Sen. Kaine voted to allow government funding of abortion providers, and he voted against legislation to require an abortionist to notify at least one parent before performing an abortion on a minor girl from another state.
