Democrats Will Never Appeal to Christian Voters Until They End Their Love Affair With Big Abortion

By Dave Andrusko
Life News

There’s been a fair amount of chatter, overwhelmingly positive, about an interview the former director of Barack Obama’s 2012 faith outreach gave to Emma Green of the Atlantic.

I am considerably less positive, although the interview, which ran under the headline “Democrats Have a Religion Problem: A conversation with Michael Wear, a former Obama White House staffer, about the party’s illiteracy on and hostility toward faith,” is very much worth reading.

Michael Wear has a new book out titled Reclaiming Hope, so it’s a fair assumption the interview was part of the publicity tour. That doesn’t make what he says–and more important what he doesn’t say and what is tucked between the lines–any the less worth considering.

You may have read how many “experts” confidently predicted the Evangelical community, specifically the White Evangelical community, would not deliver Donald Trump the kind of overwhelming support it had given to President George W. Bush and to GOP presidential candidates John McCain and Mitt Romney.

So when a greater percentage than ever–81%–voted for Trump, there’s been some honest head-scratching what should Democrats do. A more dominant response has been to double down: forget White Evangelicals and the White working class that was instrumental in Trump’s victory and rely on greater support next time around from single women, African Americans, and a growing number of Hispanics.
Wear does not offer that counsel. He understands both the “civic motivation” and the political wisdom of Democrats reaching out to voters who did not support them and particularly those who oppose abortion.
But as Green points out, “from a party point of view, it’s basically impossible to be a pro-life Democrat. Why do you think it is that the party has moved in that direction, and what, if anything, do you think it should do differently?”
Wear offers three reasons, two of which I’ll address.

Nick Cannon: Planned Parenthood Founded To ‘Exterminate’ Black People

By Jerome Hudson
Breitbart

Singer and TV personality Nick Cannon doubled down on his criticism of Planned Parenthood, saying the abortion provider was designed to “exterminate” black people.
“When you talked about Margaret Sanger, all the people who follow eugenics. It was all about cleansing,” the America’s Got Talent host said of Planned Parenthood’s founder in a recent interview with DJ Vlad.
“Margaret Sanger said that she wanted to exterminate the negro race, and that she was going to use her organization as she founded to do so,” Cannon continued. “It was more about the sterilization and where it comes to actual ethnic cleansing — where they actually said we want to get rid of a class of people a group of people. “Seventy-five percent of them are all in the hood.”
“They like to label ‘feeble-minded’ or ‘lower-class,’ that’s what they used in public. In private, they were talking about the black community,” Cannon said.
The 36-year-old rapper-actor says the issue of abortion is more personal than political.
“I’m pro-Nick because my mother did go to an abortion clinic to abort me,” he said. “I don’t feel like the government should have the right. I don’t feel like any organization that makes money should have the right to tell a woman what she can or cannot do with her body.”

Writer Reflects on “What Being a Mother Taught Me About Abortion”

“Not only had my understanding of life’s sanctity deepened, the empathy I had for others who faced pregnancy with less support than I had been blessed with and surrounded by had grown. “

By Erin Parfet
Life News

Whether a child is planned or not, the sweat, blood, tears, challenges and undeniable beauties of parenting are often uncharted waters for all of us.

In a recent article in The Federalist, Kimberly Ross shares how her pro-life views deepened with the birth of her first child, further revealing for her the beauty and sanctity of human life despite the challenges of parenting.
“It’s one thing to be staunchly pro-life while never having been a parent or pregnant,” Ross writes. “It’s another thing entirely to go through the experience of being with child and becoming a parent yourself, and emerge from that strange and wonderful journey with the exact same level of conviction as before.”
Ross reflects on the “culture of death” that is sadly ascending to supremacy in America, including weekly reports of terrorism, the 3,000 abortions that occur each day in this country and euthanasia.
Reverend Billy Graham recently expressed similar sentiments on CNSnews.com: “The euthanasia movement – disguised now as ‘death with dignity’ – is gaining ground in a number of states. And for every 1,000 live births in the United States, 219 pregnancies end with a murdered child, through abortion.”
In further illustrating America’s fixation with death, the article elaborates that 17 million people skipped Sunday night football to watch a season premiere of “The Walking Dead,” a graphic zombie show. A few weeks later, 15 million people tuned out the Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs match-up, preferring to watch zombies eating people instead.

Ross also contemplates the financial and emotional aspects of raising children.

“If we look at things honestly, a vast majority of the reasons given for terminating a pregnancy are things normal to most pregnancies,” she writes. “As my older brother told me years ago, ‘if you wait until you’re financially able to have a kid… you’ll never have kids.’”

OR Judge: Public School Can Force Teacher to Facilitate Planned Parenthood Program

from Life Legal Defense Foundation

We recently received a disappointing ruling in the case of Bill Diss, a Portland, Oregon public school teacher who was fired after he objected to facilitating a Planned Parenthood sex education program in his classroom. The judge granted the defendant's motion for summary judgment, which means the case cannot go before a jury. Life Legal is appealing the decision.

Bill Diss became "enemy number one" with his local Planned Parenthood affiliate when he led opposition to a new PP mega-facility in downtown Portland.

When Planned Parenthood employees wanted to come into Diss' classroom to recruit students for their "Teen Outreach Program," or TOP, Diss said no. TOP is a federally-funded sex ed program that targets children as young as 10 years old. Diss respectfully asked to be excused from facilitating the program, as the content violated his religious convictions.

The school refused and then fired Mr. Diss.

The same Planned Parenthood affiliate was caught on video giving a 15-year-old girl a
dvice on how to access pornography and engage in dangerous, deviant sexual acts.

The lower court ruled that teachers like Mr. Diss should not be afforded the full protection of the Constitution when they have religious objections to teaching content that violates their most deeply held beliefs.

Life Legal vehemently disagrees and we have filed notice to appeal the decision to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. We are honored to represent Bill Diss and we will continue to fight for his First Amendment rights.

Rep. Marsha Blackburn Named Operation Rescue's 2016 Pro-Life Person of the Year

By Cheryl Sullenger
Operation Rescue

Washington, DC - Operation Rescue is pleased to announce that the recipient of the 2016 Pro-Life Person of the Year Malachi Award is Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) for her work as Chairman of the House Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives.
The Malachi Award is given by Operation Rescue every year to recognize individuals who sacrificially work to advance the cause of protecting the pre-born.
"Operation Rescue is grateful to Chairman Marsha Blackburn for her courageous willingness to investigate the shadowy illegal underworld of trafficking in aborted baby remains by Planned Parenthood and others. We know that she underwent constant attacks from the opposition, which wanted desperately to cover up these crimes," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.

Operation Rescue is one of the leading pro-life Christian activist organizations in the nation and has become a strong voice for the pro-life movement in America. Operation Rescue is now headquartered in a former abortion clinic that it bought and closed in 2006. From there, Operation Rescue launches its innovative new strategies across the nation, exposing and closing abortion clinics through peaceful, legal means. Its activities are on the cutting edge of the abortion issue, taking direct action to stop abortion and ultimately restore legal personhood to the pre-born in obedience to biblical mandates.  Click here for more information or to make a secure donation online.

Illinois Judge Halts State’s Free Speech Assault on Pro-Life Docs, Clinics

By Jay Hobbs
National Right to Life News Today

Pro-life advocates in Illinois are celebrating the first of what they hope to be many victories in the fight against a new state law that would force pro-life doctors, nurses and pregnancy centers to refer patients for abortions, following a preliminary injunction handed down late last Tuesday.

The injunction, granted by Judge Eugene Doherty of the 17th Judicial Circuit Court in Winnebago County, halts a 2016 change in Illinois’ Healthcare Right of Conscience Act that would have forced pro-life medical professionals and nonprofits to refer patients directly to abortion businesses upon request.

Applying only to the named defendants in Pregnancy Care Center of Rockford, et al. v. Bruce Rauner et al, the preliminary injunction could set the stage for good news in a broader case challenging the law in federal court.

CHANGING AMERICA'S STORYLINE-- FOR THE BETTER!

by Maria Gallagher, Legislative/PAC Director
Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation

In this era of remakes, it's often interesting to see how an actor or actress attempts to re-define a role. Whether it's a television adaptation of "Hairspray," "Grease," or "Peter Pan," it can be intriguing to view a production with a new player in the lead.

And yet, around this time of year, some perennial favorites from decades gone by appear on the small screen, attracting audiences who were not even born yet when the films debuted at local theaters.

What would "The Sound of Music" be without the enchanting Julie Andrews? Or could anyone but the charming Charlton Heston pull off the epic "Ten Commandments"? And "Miracle on 34th Street" would somehow seem less miraculous if a young Natalie Wood had not been cast as the skeptical second-grader who tests the gift-granting prowess of Kris Kringle.

In other words, these were roles that these memorable actors seemed born to play.

And so it is with every human being--each one of us is particularly gifted to play his or her part on the planet. Whether we fulfill that role, to the best of our ability, is up to us. But each individual, as part of the vast and varied cast of humanity, deserves the chance.

The tragedy of abortion, then, is three-fold: First, it deprives a member of the human family of an opportunity to take on the role he or she was meant to play. Second, a mother and father must come to grips with the absence of that unique, irreplaceable child in their lives. And third, the world must struggle along without someone whose unique mission is left undone.

The possibility of overturning Roe v. Wade, the U.S. Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion nationwide nearly 44 years ago, brings the promise of ending a tragedy far graver than any that Shakespeare wrote. It would also lead to a new storyline for our nation, giving birth to the hope of the better tomorrow that every child represents.

The Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation, Inc., is committed to promoting the dignity and value of human life from conception to natural death and to restoring legal protection for preborn children. Through legislation, political action, education and other legal means, we proclaim the truth about abortion, infanticide, and euthanasia.  For more information or to find out how you can become involved, please use this link.

Are You Coming to the March?

Martin Fox, President
National Pro-Life Alliance

On January 22nd 1973 the Supreme Court handed down abortion-on-demand with their infamous decision on Roe v. Wade.  Every year since then, in what has become known as the "March for Life" pro-lifers gather at our nation's capital to memorialize that decision and protest the devastating aftermath.

The very first March had 25,000 activists in attendance.  Since then it has grown exponentially, to a regular participation of hundreds of thousands of activists, with young people coming out in droves.  If you've ever been to one, you know it's an inspiring sight.

And there is a mostly untold story of many hundreds of thousands of concerned Americans, who can't come to Washington each year for the march, because of work, family or other duties.

But they pray in vigils to send off the marchers, they gather at places of worship, they fast and pray as they tend to their daily tasks, schoolchildren at their desks, and much more. No one but God knows just how many people are part of the March without being there. But it is a vast number, I am convinced.

Which is why I'm inviting you to join the National Pro-Life Alliance staff, our volunteers and a host of other pro-lifers at this year's March for Life.
Click here to let me know you are coming so I can keep you informed and let you know where to meet us.

This coming March for Life (on January 27, 2017) will be particularly significant for a couple of reasons.

  • First, it will be the 44th anniversary since the Supreme Court legalized abortion-on-demand.

  • Second, this March will be the first after enduring eight years of the most pro-abortion president in History.
Over the last eight years, President Obama and his pro-abortion allies in Congress funneled over $4 billion to abortion providers while stacking the courts with activist pro-abortion judges at every level.

But with the abortion lobby soundly defeated at the polls last November, you and I have a golden opportunity this year to confirm pro-life judges, and to build on previous support for the Life at Conception Act to legislatively overturn Roe v. Wade and ultimately end abortion-on-demand.

It would be an honor to personally meet you and the other members who have made all of the progress we've made together possible.

This year the March will be held on Friday, January 27th on the Mall. More details of where your National Pro-Life Alliance will be meeting will be forthcoming, so save the date.

We will be doing more than just marching, however. We will also be collecting petitions to add support for the Life at Conception Act.

Which is why I pray that if you are able, you'll join us. A Life at Conception Act would legislatively overturn Roe v. Wade and ultimately put an end to abortion-on-demand.

As we approach the 44th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade, you and I have never been in a better position to force action on the Life at Conception Act to legislatively overturn Roe v. Wade.  That’s why I hope you’ll join your National Pro-Life Alliance at the March for Life as we gather petitions for this life-saving bill.

The National Pro-Life Alliance occupies a unique and important role in the pro-life movement. The focus of many other pro-life organizations is research, publications or counseling. These are all important and worthy activities, but the National Pro-Life Alliance is singular in its focus on passing pro-life legislation that will protect the unborn from the moment of conception onward. For more information on the National Pro-Life Alliance or to make a donation, please use this link.

A Criminal Empire

By Jim Sedlak
ALL's STOPP International

Planned Parenthood is an organization that, since its very beginning, has had no respect for the law. It does what it wants and only uses existing laws when it suits its advantage. As PBS commented on Planned Parenthood's founder: "Margaret Sanger believed that the only way to change the law was to break it."

The purpose of STOPP is really quite simple. We intend to cause such discontent with Planned Parenthood programs that it will have no choice but to close its doors and get out of town! That doesn't seem like too much to ask of an organization that has been ruthlessly attacking our children for years-abusing them in the womb and in the classroom.  For more information or to make a donation to help them in their work, please use this link.

He's the Reason for the Season

by Tom Graffagnino‎

In this day and age of secular and political correctness, doubt and encroaching faithlessness, we often see at Christmastime this reminder: “Jesus is the reason for the season”. Somewhere along the line….somewhere between Woodstock and Iraq…Frosty the Snowman and Miley Cyrus joined forces to begin trying to devour the meaning of Christmas.

It is sad that so many today need to be reminded that Jesus IS the “reason for the season”. That’s bad enough. But it is, I think, more needful to remind ourselves that in reality Jesus is much, much more than that…...

In Memoriam: Jean Garton, Founding President of Lutherans for Life

from Lutherans for Life

Lutherans For Life mourns the death of our dear sister, Dr. Jean Garton. Dr. Garton became a leader in advocating respect and protection for every human being following the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision. She served instrumentally in the formation of Lutherans For Life in 1978 and accepted the position of its first president.

She recently led an energetic presentation at our Lutherans For Life National Conference this past October based on the theme “Here We Stand” and there received the Dominus Vitae award in honor of her lifelong, Gospel-motivated labors to affirm God’s gift of life. Her acclaimed and influential book Who Broke the Baby? is entering its third edition of publication.

The entire nationwide Lutherans For Life community, even in our grief, gives enthusiastic thanks to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for Jean’s faith, compassion, wit, courage, and work.

Dr. Jean Garton entered her Heavenly Father’s eternal glory on the morning of December 23, 2016, following a brief illness.

The mission of Lutherans For Life is to equip Lutherans to be Gospel-motivated voices For Life. This makes us different from other for-life groups.
  • We want to equip Lutherans to be positive, life-affirming voices that uphold the truth of the God-given value of human life, both in local congregations and in society.

  • We strive to affirm that each human life is created and gifted by God, that each human life is someone for whom Jesus Christ died, and that each human life is someone the Holy Spirit desires to call into an eternal relationship with Him.  For more information, please use this link.

Through HHS Rule, Obama Bars States From Defunding Abortion Providers

By Josh Denton
Live Action News

In one of his likely last moves before leaving office, the Obama administration’s Department of Health and Human Services issued a new federal regulation prohibiting states from defunding abortion providers like Planned Parenthood.

The press release issued by HHS said that the purpose of the final rule was to protect access to family planning services:

In the past several years, a number of states have taken actions to restrict participation by certain types of providers as subrecipients in the Title X Program, unrelated to the provider’s ability to provide family planning services. This has caused limitations in the geographic distribution of services and decreased access to services.

The final rule clarifies the Title X program regulations by adding that no grant recipient making subawards for the provision of services as part of its Title X project may prohibit an entity from participating for reasons other than its ability to provide Title X services.

In essence, this means that HHS is attempting to block states from restricting fund to abortion providers like Planned Parenthood. The Federalist notes:
Federal law stipulates that tax dollars cannot fund abortions, yet a growing number of states and lawmakers are concerned that federal funds going to contraception clinics that also provide abortions is enabling the provision of abortion. Funds are fungible, which means that once an entity gets its hands on taxpayer dollars, the government no longer has control over how exactly that money is spent.

New Study Downplays Harm Abortion Inflicts on Women

by Cullen Herout
Crisis Magazine

A study published last week in the journal JAMA Psychiatry claims to show that women facing an unwanted pregnancy do not suffer any negative impact on their mental health after abortion. Carried out by the ANSIRH (Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health) program at the University of California, San Francisco, the study sought to respond to former Surgeon General Everett Koop who articulated in 1989 that there was not enough conclusive evidence to determine the effect of abortion on a woman’s mental health.

The longitudinal study attempted to show the differences in mental health outcomes between women who had an abortion and women who wanted an abortion but were unable to have one. The study claims to be the first of its kind because it measures only women who wanted abortions, noting that this demographic of women has a qualitatively different experience of pregnancy than women who do not want abortions and proceed to give birth.

Select Panel Issues Two Criminal Referrals of Texas Late-term Abortionist Karpen, Others

By Cheryl Sullenger
Operation Rescue

Washington, DC - The House Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives has announced that it has made a total of 15 criminal referrals based on its investigation into the underground trade in aborted baby organs and tissue. Six of the referral letters were just released late yesterday, while nine others had been previously made public.

Among the new criminal referral letters issued by Select Investigative Panel Chair Marsha Blackburn were two made against Texas late-term abortionist Douglas Karpen to the U.S. Department of Justice and the Texas Attorney General's office seeking further investigation and appropriate action.

In 2012, Operation Rescue began acquiring evidence against Karpen from his former employees. That evidence included photographs depicting the bodies of two infants that were clearly in their third trimester of pregnancy, which were said to have been aborted by Karpen.  Those photos were provided directly to Operation Rescue in November 2012, by the former Karpen employee who took them with her cell phone. They depicted wounds that could not have occurred while the baby was still inside the womb.

Blackburn referenced those photographs in both criminal referral letters against Karpen. She quoted from witness affidavits that described how Karpen killed late-term babies who were born alive during abortions at his Houston abortion facilities at a rate of three to four per week. Methods included twisting or slashing necks with instruments and pressing his finger though the "soft spot" on top of a baby's head.

In addition to referring Karpen for further investigation for homicide, the Select Investigative Panel is seeking investigations into other crimes that may have been committed by Karpen, falsifying ultrasound results, failing to hire adequate staff or properly sanitize instruments, and Medicaid fraud.

"The criminal referrals of Karpen to the Department of Justice and Texas Attorney General validate our efforts over the past three years to bring this late-term abortionist to justice," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. "The issuance of the referrals completely repudiates the actions of Harris County District Attorney Devon Anderson, who committed a gross injustice by protecting Karpen from accountability. May justice finally be done!"

“There’s nothing better a dad can do than bless his son. Nothing."  Ernie Johnson, Jr.
Most know Ernie Johnson, Jr. son of Major League Baseball player and Braves announcer, Ernie Johnson, Sr. as one of the top sports host on Inside the NBA. Sharing the stage with men like Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal, Johnson seems at home. But what goes on in his real home is what makes him a star.

ESPN’s E:60 – Ernie Johnson: My story tells of the Johnson family that the public never sees. From his battle with cancer to his poignant family history, the real Ernie Johnson is a hero to many–especially his wife and children.

Ernie and his wife Cheryl have have six children, four of whom are adopted. Two were adopted internationally, Michael from Romania, and Carmen from Paraguay. It is Michael who becomes the real focus of this powerful biography of Ernie and his family.

Ernie tells of feeling like he had everything: two beautiful children, a wife he loved, and a great TV gig. And then in 1990, the ABC show 20/20 rocked the Johnson’s world when the story of the 14,000 babies in Romania who were left as orphans and wards of the state, needed homes.
As they watched the show, Cheryl said to Ernie, “We need to get one of these kids out of an orphanage in Romania.”
Cheryl went to Romania, thinking they would adopt a baby girl with no disabilities, when Michael stole her heart. He was almost three, unable to speak–and had never been outside. Cheryl says in the show:
“He was everything we said we could not accept, but I wonder how I’m going to live my life and wonder what happens to him.”
She called Ernie who said, “bring him home.”

Texas Will Defund Planned Parenthood, Cancels $3.1 Million in Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Biz

Life News

Texas officials gave final notice to Planned Parenthood on Tuesday that its taxpayer funding is going away.
The abortion chain in Texas currently receives $3.1 million in Medicaid funds. The final notice from the Texas Health and Human Services on Tuesday told the abortion group that it will be kicked out of the taxpayer-funded program in 30 days, the Texas Tribune reports.

State officials said Planned Parenthood’s potentially illegal sales of aborted babies’ body parts was a key reason for the move.
In the final notice letter, department Inspector General Stuart Bowen said the undercover videos that exposed Planned Parenthood’s actions showed that “Planned Parenthood violated state and federal law.” He said the abortion group showed a “willingness to charge more than the costs incurred for procuring fetal tissue.”
“Your misconduct is directly related to whether you are qualified to provide medical services in a professionally competent, safe, legal and ethical manner,” Bowen wrote in the letter. “Your actions violate generally accepted medical standards, as reflected in state and federal law, and are Medicaid program violations that justify termination.”
Several weeks ago, a U.S. Congressional investigation released evidence that Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast in Texas “broke the law when it sold aborted baby remains for profit to the University of Texas.” The U.S. House panel referred the case to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton for further review.
