Life News

Late in the afternoon on February 25, extremist Senate Democrats voted in favor of legalized infanticide. In the wake of Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s bizarre remarks in a radio interview extending the “right to choose” to after-birth abortion (or medical neglect), Sen. Ben Sasse authored the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.

The bill would require a health-care provider to “exercise the same degree of professional skill, care, and diligence to preserve the life and health of the child” who survives abortion as he or she would to “any other child born alive at the same gestational age.”

The bill failed a cloture vote because 44 Democrats voted in favor of infanticide, including seven presidential aspirants — Cory Booker, Sherrod Brown, Kirsten Gillibrand, Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar, Bernie Sanders, and Elizabeth Warren.

Forget massive tax increases and incoherent green deals. This, this should terrify us.

President Trump tweeted:

“The Democrat position on abortion is now so extreme that they don’t mind executing babies AFTER birth….This will be remembered as one of the most shocking votes in the history of Congress. If there is one thing we should all agree on, it’s protecting the lives of innocent babies.”

Network coverage of this vote in the first 24 hours? Zero on ABC, CBS, and NBC. Hours after this vote, Sanders appeared in an hour-long “town hall” on CNN without a single question on this. Warren was interviewed by Chris Hayes for 11 minutes on MSNBC, and no question.

These networks offered more air time and sympathy for vicious “ISIS bride” Hoda Muthana trying to re-enter America than they did for defenseless newborn babies. Just as they felt Ralph Northam wearing blackface was far worse than Northam favoring a woman’s “right to choose” infanticide. Blackface drew hours of coverage, and infanticide drew less than five minutes on the Big Three network shows.

The Democrats claimed the bill was unnecessary, since babies rarely survive abortions, and when they do, they’re typically unable to surviving long outside the womb. You know what else was rare? Water-boarding a few suspected terrorists. But they railed against that for years.

Sen. Tom Cotton rebutted the Democrats, that in Florida alone in 2017 — “in one state in one year” — there were 11 babies born alive after abortion attempts. Someone could raise these babies, free of medical violence.

Even if it saved just one baby, one tender, little, innocent child, isn’t it worth it? Not if you don’t believe these children have a right to live.

Democrats sounded like Northam. Sen. Tina Smith complained it “puts Congress in the middle of important medical decisions that patients and doctors should make together without political interference.” It’s part of a “war on women’s health,” insisted Sen. Jeanne Shaheen. Sen. Mazie Hirono bizarrely claimed this bill would force doctors “to provide care that is unnecessary or even harmful to patients.”

Caring for a baby – even a doomed baby – is “harmful”?

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">By Sarah Terzo
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">National Right to Life

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Abortion becomes very real when it is seen instead of viewed as an abstract moral and political debate.

Some time ago, I was sent this testimony from a medical student who preferred not to leave a name. He had just witnessed an abortion as part of his training. Deeply troubled, he wanted to tell someone. He was haunted by what he had seen.

The student starts out by saying that he was firmly in the pro-choice camp before witnessing the abortion:

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">“To begin, I must say that until yesterday, Friday, July 2, 2004, I was strongly pro-choice. I am a pre-medical student, and being very scientific, I understood that the mass of cells that forms the fetal body is not often capable of survival before 24 weeks in the womb. I am also somewhat liberal, and I believed that every woman should have the right to choose what she did with her body and one that could potentially be growing inside of her.”

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The student had heard the pro-choice movement’s slogans. He took them at face value, believing that the unborn baby was “a mass of cells” and not an individual human being. He felt that a woman “had the right to control her body” and did not sympathize with the tiny baby inside her. He did not believe in the child’s humanity or right to life.

Then he took the opportunity to see an abortion performed. Because of his pro-choice beliefs, he did not expect to be disturbed by anything he would see:

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">“This summer, I was accepted into a pre-medical program in NYC in which we are allowed to shadow doctors and see all sorts of medical procedures. When given the opportunity to see an abortion, I did not hesitate to accept the offer. It was something new, edgy, and exciting that I had never seen.”

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">He then describes exactly what he witnessed in the operating room:

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">“When I entered the operating room, it felt like any other I had ever been in. On the table in front of me, I saw a woman, legs up as if delivering a child although she was asleep. Next to her was a tray of instruments for the abortion and a vacuum machine for suctioning the fetal tissues from the uterus. The doctors put on their gowns and masks and the procedure began. The cervix was held open with a crude metal instrument and a large transparent tube was stuck inside of the woman. Within a matter of seconds, the machine’s motor was engaged and blood, tissue, and tiny organs were pulled out of their environment into a filter. A minute later, the vacuum choked to a halt. The tube was removed, and stuck to the end was a small body and a head attached haphazardly to it, what was formed of the neck snapped. The ribs had formed with a thin skin covering them, the eyes had formed, and the inner organs had begun to function. The tiny heart of the fetus, obviously a little boy, had just stopped — forever. The vacuum filter was opened, and the tiny arms and legs that had been torn off of the fetus were accounted for. The fingers and toes had the beginnings of their nails on them. The doctors, proud of their work, reassembled the body to show me. Tears welled up in my eyes as they removed the baby boy from the table and shoved his body into a container for disposal.”

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Since this abortion was done by suction, the baby must have been less than 13 to 14 weeks, but still far enough along that his humanity was evident.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Abortions in the second trimester are usually done through dilation and evacuation, a procedure in which forceps are used to tear apart the baby, rather than through suction.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The student was haunted by what he saw:

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">“I have not been able to think of anything since yesterday at 10:30 besides what that baby boy might have been. I don’t think that people realize what an abortion actually is until they see it happen. I have been tortured by these images – so real and so vivid – for two days now…and I was just a spectator.

Lila Rose, the founder and president of Live Action, is scheduled to give a talk at her alma mater, the University of California, Los Angeles next Monday, March 4th. The speech is being presented by Live Action UCLA, an on-campus pro-life group, and Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) UCLA.

Like other events on campus, Rose’s speech was being advertised on campus at the Bruin Walk with signs and a table manned by members of YAF. But within just days of the signs being posted, they were vandalized and stolen.

Nina Rose, president of Live Action UCLA, spoke to Live Action News about the theft and what this will mean for Rose’s speech and other pro-life events in the future.

“To advertise the event, we put out a sign board on Bruin Walk, which is basically the walkway where all the students take to get to class, and it’s very standard for a student organization to put a sign board out, like an A-frame, so we put ours up in a line-up with a dozen other signs,” she explained. “It’s fairly safe; most people just put their signs out there for the year and there’s no problem.”

But there were issues with their sign almost immediately.

“We put our sign up on Tuesday, in a metal frame with the sign inside. By the weekend, it had already been stolen,” Rose said. “Somebody basically just stole the sign for Lila’s talk — they didn’t steal the frame, so they just took the sign out of it.”

By Micaih Bilger
Life News

Abortion survivor Melissa Ohden watched Monday as U.S. Senators voted to deny infants like herself protection under the law.

Demonstrating their loyalty to the billion-dollar abortion industry, Senate Democrats blocked the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act on Monday. The bill requires abortionists to provide the same basic medical care to an infant born alive after a failed abortion that a doctor would to any other infant born at that stage of pregnancy.

“I think the Democrats who voted last night against this bill really showed us they’re willing to sacrifice lives like mine to keep abortion on demand,” Ohden told Fox & Friends on Tuesday morning.

Now 41, Ohden survived a late-term saline abortion and was adopted into a loving home. As a teenager, she said she felt absolutely devastated when she learned that her birth family tried to abort her.

She had similar feelings on Monday when she watched Senate Democrats vote against the bill on Monday evening.

“I was disappointed, I still am today, but I’m certainly not surprised,” she said. “The Democrats continue to say things like this is unnecessary, I’m living proof that this is necessary.”

Planned Parenthood, which lobbied against the bill, claimed situations like Ohden’s do not exist. It slammed the bill as based on “lies and misinformation.” In reality, the bill has nothing to do with women’s bodies or abortion. Once a baby is born, he or she is their own separate entity. The bill simply requires the same level of medical care for that infant as any other infant born at the same gestational age would receive.

SIGN THE PETITION: Stop Infanticide! Stop Abortions Up to Birth!

Ohden said she is glad the bill brought the issue of infanticide back to the forefront for Americans. She thanked the Senators who voted to protect babies like herself.

“We need this bill, not only to ensure we are provided medical care, but that there is penalty when there is failure to do so,” Ohden said.

Her story is not unique. Claire Culwell also survived an abortion, though her twin did not. After the vote Monday, she reacted with disbelief.

“I have no words at this moment,” Culwell wrote on Facebook. “These Senators have voted to leave babies like ME to die after a failed abortion. No protection for a BORN baby who survived.”

Here’s proof.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

The abortion industry would like the public to believe that babies born alive after abortion attempts rarely occur. But babies accidentally born alive after abortions — the so-called “dreaded complication” — have plagued abortion profiteers for decades.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The Philadelphia Inquirer<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> highlighted cases from the 1970s in a 1981 series entitled The Dreaded Complication. In one case, an infant accidentally survived a saline abortion. The abortionist told his nurses by phone to deny the baby oxygen, but thankfully, another doctor stepped in and the baby survived, only to be adopted later. In another case, a Nebraska abortionist reportedly told a nurse to leave a baby boy who survived a saline abortion because “it would probably die in a few minutes.”

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">In yet another case from the 1970’s, a baby boy survived a prostaglandin abortion and later died. But this time, the doctor who arrived on scene attempted to save the infant, clamping the cord and sending the baby to intensive care.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">“It was a shock, a totally unique emergency situation, very upsetting to all of us,” the doctor said. “Some people have disagreed with me [about ordering intensive care for an abortion live birth] but that seems to me the only way you can go. It’s like watching a drowning. You act. You don’t have the luxury of calling around and consulting. You institute life-preserving measures first and decide about viability later on.”

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">READ: Poll: 77 percent of Americans want Congress to protect abortion survivors

The Dreaded Complication

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">By the 1990’s, additional incidents of abortion survivors were being reported.

In Florida, a witness who worked at a hospital called the police after seeing a doctor smother a 23-week-old male with Down syndrome who survived an abortion. Miami Right to Life documented the case after being contacted by the witness, and pro-lifers endearingly named him “Baby Special.” The report said that the autopsy showed pockets of air in the baby’s stomach, indicating that he had taken a breath. The medical examiner testified that the baby lived for 34 minutes.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">However, the doctor was cleared of all charges, saying there was no clear evidence that he smothered the baby. “When a fetus is aborted, sometimes there is some activity in the fetus and you normally don’t do anything. You let the fetus expire,” the abortionist told authorities. “The usual thing is just to take your time, don’t immediately do anything,” the abortionist told authorities.

READ: Abortionists reveal why we need a law to protect abortion survivors

Continue reading Live Action News article here
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">By Newsroom
Live Action News

Today, the United States Senate voted on an anti-infanticide bill introduced by Senator Ben Sasse (R-Neb.), the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. The legislation needed 60 votes to pass, and it failed by a vote of 53 in favor and 44 against. The bill stated that “if an abortion results in the live birth of an infant, the infant is a legal person for all purposes under the laws of the United States, and entitled to all the protections of such laws.”

Every Democratic Senator, including Democratic presidential hopefuls Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, Kirsten Gillibrand, Sherrod Brown, Kirsten Gillibrand, Amy Klobuchar, and Elizabeth Warren, along with Independent Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, voted against this common-sense bill. Democrats Doug Jones, Joe Manchin, and Bob Casey Jr. voted in favor of the bill. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) did not vote on the bill.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The 2002 Born Alive Infants Protection Act, signed into law by President George W. Bush, established that any child born alive — even as the result of an abortion — is to be legally considered a “person”, “human being,” “child”, and “individual” in federal law. However, that law contained no penalties for those who choose not to follow it. Senator Sasse’s bill included penalties for abortionists who break the law, including a fine and/or imprisonment for up to five years.

READ: Poll: 77 percent of Americans want Congress to protect abortion survivors

The bill would also have allowed a woman to take legal action against an abortionist who breaks this law. The bill states that any child who accidentally survives an abortion must be treated with “the same degree of professional skill, care, and diligence to preserve the life and health of the child as a reasonably diligent and conscientious health care practitioner would render to any other child born alive at the same gestational age” and would make certain that “the child born alive is immediately transported and admitted to a hospital.” In addition, the bill requires the mandatory reporting of violations.

Currently, there are 19 states which afford no protections to abortion survivors. According to the Centers for Disease Control, infants are still born alive every year. Between 2003 and 2014 alone, at least 143 babies died after being born alive during abortions. And according to a press release from Live Action News,

Ocasio-Cortez has often used alarmist language when discussing climate change, repeatedly comparing fighting climate change to fighting Nazi Germany

Democratic socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) suggested on Sunday night that people should consider not having children due to climate change because there is a "scientific consensus" that life will be hard for kids.

"Our planet is going to hit disaster if we don't turn this ship around and so it's basically like, there's a scientific consensus that the lives of children are going to be very difficult," Ocasio-Cortez said while chopping up food in her kitchen during an Instagram live video. "And it does lead, I think, young people to have a legitimate question, you know, 'Is it okay to still have children?'"

Ocasio-Cortez then took a shot at Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) over an incident that happened in Feinstein's office on Friday when a far-left fringe group tried to pressure Feinstein into supporting the Green New Deal.

"You know what’s interesting about this group?" Feinstein told the group on Friday, in response to the group storming into her office. "I’ve been doing this for 30 years. I know what I’m doing."

"You come in here, and you say it has to be my way or the highway. I don’t respond to that," Feinstein continued. "I’ve gotten elected, I just ran. I was elected by almost a million-vote plurality. And I know what I’m doing. So you know, maybe people should listen a little bit."

Ocasio-Cortez said Feinstein's response was "like not good enough" because the legislation that the Democrats support is "frankly going to kill us."

"This idea that 'I've been working on this for x-amount of years,' um, it's like not good enough," Ocasio-Cortez said. "Like, we need a universal sense of urgency, and people are like trying to introduce watered-down proposals that are frankly going to kill us. A lack of urgency is going to kill us."

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">In just one month, Americans have made a sudden and dramatic shift away from the pro-choice position and toward a pro-life stance, according to a new Marist poll.

The shift was led by Democrats and those under 45 years old, according to a survey taken Feb.12-17 in the wake of efforts in several states to legalize abortion up until birth.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">"Current proposals that promote late-term abortion have reset the landscape and language on abortion in a pronounced – and very measurable – way," said Barbara Carvalho, director of The Marist Poll.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">In a substantial, double-digit shift, according to the poll, Americans are now as likely to identify as pro-life (47 percent) as pro-choice (47 percent). Just last month, a similar survey conducted by The Marist Poll found Americans more likely to identify as pro-choice than as pro-life by 17 percentage points (55 to 38 percent). Democrats moved in their pro-life identity from 20 percent to 34 percent.

Among Democrats, the gap between pro-life and pro-choice identifiers was cut in half from 55 percent to 27 percent. The number of Democrats now identifying as pro-life is 34 percent, up from 20 percent last month, while the number identifying as pro-choice fell from 75 percent to 61 percent.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Younger Americans also moved dramatically, now dividing 47 percent pro-life to 48 percent pro-choice. One month ago, the gap was almost 40 percentage points with only 28 percent identifying as pro-life and 65 percent identifying as pro-choice.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">"The recent legal changes to late-term abortion and the debate which followed have not gone unnoticed by the general public," said Carvalho. "In just one month, there has been a significant increase in the proportion of Americans who see themselves as pro-life and an equally notable decline in those who describe themselves as pro-choice."

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">This is the first time since 2009 that as many or more Americans have identified as pro-life as have identified as pro-choice. More than a third of Democrats (34 percent) as well as two-thirds of Republicans (67 percent) identify as pro-life. Independents divide (46 percent pro-life, 48 percent pro-choice).

At the same time, the survey found that opposition to late-term abortions is overwhelming. By about three to one (71 percent to 25 percent), Americans say abortion should be generally illegal during the third trimester. This majority includes 60 percent of Democrats, 72 percent of independents and 85 percent of Republicans.

By an even wider margin (71 percent to 18 percent), Americans strongly oppose late-term abortion after 20 weeks. This 71 percent includes two-thirds (66 percent) who say abortion should be banned after 20 weeks of pregnancy except to save the life of the mother, and an additional five percent think abortion should be outlawed completely.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Only 18 percent think abortion should be allowed at any time up until birth. Those opposing abortion after 20 weeks, or overall, include: 59 percent of Democrats, 78 percent of independents and 82 percent of Republicans.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">By Cassy Fiano-Chesser
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Live Action News
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Many people don’t understand the reality of what abortion truly entails. The abortion industry has been caught lying to women about fetal development, and the picture people have in their heads of what an abortion is like tends to be the sanitized, painless version that one might see on television. But what happens when people see what a procedure is actually like? Does the reality change minds?

Second and third trimester abortions have been in the news frequently in recent weeks, and in one of two new videos released by Live Action, one woman argued that abortion should be legal, even possibly up to birth. “I think it should be legal, and I don’t see anything wrong with it,” she said frankly. “I find it kind of offensive when people think it shouldn’t be legal.”

When asked if she thought it should be allowed even up until birth, she answered, “Yeah, probably the earlier the better, obviously, but if your situation — if you really can’t afford to have a baby, or it’s really going to harm you, in — like, it’s quite a touchy issue for you, then it shouldn’t — you shouldn’t have to have it if there’s been a situation where you don’t want it.”

She was then showed a video with 2D animation, narrated by former abortionist Dr. Anthony Levatino, which explained a second trimester abortion procedure:

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Afterwards, her mind was changed about late-term abortion. “It’s quite a brutal procedure,” she admitted. “It does make me think back on what I’d said about aborting in the later stages.” While she still felt that abortion should be legal in the first trimester, she felt differently about second and third trimester abortions after seeing what the procedure was like.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">“<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I don’t think it should be legal that late in the pregnancy, and it’s just a very harmful method, and yeah, it’s very devastating the way they do the procedure.”

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">In a second video, a man and woman were asked about abortion, and both said they supported the idea of abortion being legal in the first trimester.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">“The first trimester is fine,” the man said, adding, “I feel like you can totally do whatever you want, but like, after the second trimester, I think that there should be some type of limitations.” <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The woman he was with agreed.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">“The first trimester is okay to get an abortion, but after that — third trimester, definitely not — but after that, like, maybe there’s gonna be restrictions,” she said.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">They also discussed how it wasn’t until three to six months of pregnancy, or the second trimester, that a preborn baby became a human being, and abortion procedures after that point equaled killing somebody.

The pair were then shown another video featuring Dr. Levatino, explaining a first trimester D&C, or dilation and curettage, abortion procedure.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "lato" , sans-serif; font-size: 16px;"> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">“That was really scary. I didn’t realize that there was like, possibly parts left behind,” she said, adding, “That made my uterus hurt.” The man she was with, meanwhile, said, “That’s a whole baby!” He also said the video did change his mind about restricting abortion.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">“[S]eeing how big that baby was it was just another, like, reality check, you know, like, that’s a human being,” he said. While both said they understood the circumstances that can lead a woman to think abortion is her only choice, they also both felt that there could be better choices.

</twitter-widget>Within the first few months on the job, Wen made it clear that abortion is Planned Parenthood’s “core mission.” Its most recent annual report shows abortions rose to more than 330,000 in 2018, while its real health services – including birth control, sterilizations, cancer screenings, adoption referrals and other women’s health services – all declined. It also boasted a record $1.66 billion in revenue.

So when Google is “championing” Planned Parenthood, it isn’t primarily supporting cancer screenings or pap smears or even birth control. It is championing abortion.

And pro-lifers have suspected it of doing so for years. Late last year, top Republican lawmakers called on the Department of Justice to investigate Google because of suspected political biases by the largest online platform in the world. President Donald Trump even accused Google of “rigging” its search results.

The calls came after investigative reports by The Daily Caller, the Media Research Center and others exposed the troubling trend.

Among the key findings of the Media Research Center were:

Google Search Aids Democrats:

Google and YouTube’s corporate chairman Eric Schmidt had assisted Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. The company’s search engine had deployed a similar bias in favor of Democrats. One study had found 2016 campaign searches were biased in favor of Hillary Clinton. Even the liberal website Slate had revealed the search engine’s results had favored both Clinton and Democratic candidates. Google also had fired engineer James Damore for criticizing the company’s “Ideological Echo Chamber.” The company had claimed he had been fired for “advancing harmful gender stereotypes in our workplace.” Damore is suing Google, saying it mistreats whites, males and conservatives.

YouTube Is Shutting Down Conservative Videos:

Google’s YouTube site had created its own problems with conservative content. YouTube moderators must take their cues from the rest of Google – from shutting down entire conservative channels “by mistake” to removing videos that promote right-wing political views. YouTube’s special Creators for Change section is devoted to people using their “voices for social change” and even highlights the work of a 9/11 truther. The site’s very own YouTube page and Twitter account celebrate progressive attitudes, including uploading videos about “inspiring” gay and trans people and sharing the platform’s support for DACA.

Tech Companies Rely on Anti-Conservative Fact-Checkers:

Facebook and Google both had partnered with fact-checking organizations in order to combat “fake news.” Facebook’s short-lived disputed flagger program had allowed Snopes, PolitiFact and ABC News to discern what is and is not real news. Google’s fact-checkers had accused conservative sources of making claims that did not appear in their articles and disproportionately “fact-checked” conservative sources. On Facebook, a satire site, the Babylon Bee, had been flagged by Snopes for its article clearly mocking CNN for its bias. YouTube also had announced a partnership with Wikipedia in order to debunk videos deemed to be conspiracy theories, even though Wikipedia has been criticized for its liberal bias.

LifeNews has reported on a number of examples as well. In December, YouTube downgraded pro-life videos in its search results after a pro-abortion writer complained about a lack of pro-abortion content. The conservative group PragerU also is suing censoring its conservative and pro-life videos on YouTube.

Website: Life News

Citizen journalists David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt, who have been under siege by the attorney general of California for their undercover work exposing Planned Parenthood , received good news Thursday.

In his decision, Judge Christopher Hite of the San Francisco Superior Court “denied the requests of California Attorney General Xavier Becerra and his abortion allies to seal and shield from public viewing the video evidence to be shown in the courtroom during Sandra Merritt’s upcoming preliminary hearing, scheduled for April 22 to May 3, 2019,” according to Liberty Counsel. Liberty Counsel is defending Ms. Merritt against 15 felony charges brought against her by Becerra “in connection with her undercover journalism work which exposed Planned Parenthood’s trade in baby body parts.”

However Judge Hite also said he “will seal the video evidence after the hearing,”

Liberty Counsel said. “He will also allow Merritt’s accusers to continue to press their charges anonymously, under ‘Doe’ pseudonyms.”

As NRL News Today previously reported, Daleiden and others from the Center for Medical Progress posed as buyers of “fetal tissue” (an umbrella term that includes intact hearts and lungs and pancreas and brains), and asked the kinds of questions someone who is the middleman would ask of the abortion industry. The CMP’s series of 14 videos were incredibly shocking.

Horatio Mihet, Liberty Counsel’s Vice President of Legal Affairs and Chief Litigation Counsel, said of Judge Hite’s decision,

“Attorney General Becerra’s attempt to shield from the public the very same videos upon which he bases his political prosecution of Sandra Merritt is truly astonishing.”

Mihet added, “The only reason the attorney general wants to have these videos sealed and kept from the public eye is because the videos themselves provide damning evidence that these allegedly confidential conversations were not in fact confidential. The videos themselves put the lie to the Attorney General’s case and reveal it for the fraud that it is.”

Judge Hite wrote in his 24-page decision,

“The Attorney General has failed to rebut the strong presumption in favor of open public trials in this instance.”

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">By Nancy Flanders
Live Action News

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Unplanned, the movie of the life story of Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood worker turned pro-life activist, has unexpectedly received an R-rating from the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). The MPAA cites the reasoning for the rating as “some disturbing/bloody images” but Ben Kayser of Movie Guide has stated that other 2019 films that include killing, murder, and death have only received a rating of PG-13.

While Unplanned features simulated abortion scenes that include blood, it doesn’t contain any of the MPAA cautions for profanity, nudity, or sex. Therefore, the MPAA decision to give the film an R-rating is quite possibly because of the abortion scenes — and the MPAA’s opinion that these scenes depict violence. The rating essentially means that the MPAA is (perhaps unintentionally) supporting the pro-life community’s long-held argument that abortion is an act of violence against innocent human life — one pro-lifers believe should be illegal.

READ: ‘Unplanned’ star shocked by mother’s revelation: ‘I was going to abort you’

In addition to stating the obvious – that abortion is an act of violence – the R-rating sets up quite a hypocritical situation for our pro-abortion organizations and leaders. The bizarre situation is that teens in many states can legally undergo an abortion without a parent’s permission, but won’t be able to see a movie about abortion withouta parent’s permission:

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">‘Dear teenage girls, you are mature enough to have this violent act done to you and your child and your parents don’t need to know, but you can’t see a movie about it without your parents saying it’s okay.’

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Planned Parenthood works overtime to fight and overturn laws concerning parental notification for abortion, so it’s ironic that teenage girls can’t enter a movie about Planned Parenthood without parental notification.

The writers/directors of Unplanned — Cary Solomon and Chuck Konzelman — aren’t worried about the R-rating, although it may stop teenage girls who should see the movie from seeing the movie. In their opinion, it’s a film teens should see with their parents.

“But, maybe it’s all for the best: As the wife of our lead film attorney put it: ‘This is a movie that every mother of a teenage girl needs to take her daughter by the hand and go see with her.’ So as far as we’re concerned, ‘R’ means ‘Recommended,'” they said as reported by Movie Guide. They say they don’t plan on fighting the R-rating.

By Steven Ertelt
Life News

Nothing speaks louder in the ongoing debate over late-term abortion than a crying newborn baby, particularly a baby who was accidentally born alive after an attempted abortion. The voices of these abortion survivors are very powerful. Now adults, they have been speaking out to tell their stories.

The Senate is about to vote on a bill to protect such infants. The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, sponsored by Sen. Ben Sasse, R-Neb., requires appropriate medical care be given to a baby who survives an abortion. President Trump is going further, pressing Congress to ban late-term abortions altogether. The rhetoric surrounding both bills has become heated and has left many people wondering how to separate fact from fiction.

To determine the truth about late-term abortion, look at the abortion industry itself. Examining its research tells us whether late-term abortions are rare, the reasons why women seek them, and whether the president’s graphic descriptions are over the top.

Media outlets routinely describe the numbers of late-term abortions as ” very rare,” citing the fact that they account for only 1.3 percent of all abortions. But the percentage value minimizes the actual numbers. There are more than 12,000 abortions annually after 20 weeks of pregnancy, according to the Guttmacher Institute, the research arm of the abortion lobby.

It does not refer to the number of children who die annually in car crashes (about 4,000), gun violence (about 3,000), or childhood cancers (about 2,000) as “very rare.” Yet each of these tragic numbers is only a fraction of the 12,000 viable children aborted late in pregnancy.

Abortion lobbyists admit that most late-term abortions are done on healthy mothers carrying healthy babies. Guttmacher Institute statistics confirm that “most women seeking later terminations are not doing so for reasons of fetal anomaly or life endangerment.”

Instead, data suggest that “most women seeking later abortion fit at least one of five profiles: They were raising children alone, were depressed or using illicit substances, were in conflict with a male partner or experiencing domestic violence, had trouble deciding and then had access problems, or were young and nulliparous.”

As to whether the president’s description in his State of the Union address of a baby being “ripped from the mother’s womb” is accurate, consider the imagery used by Justice Anthony Kennedy in a 2000 Supreme Court decision. Kennedy uses a description from LeRoy Carhart, a late-term abortion specialist who currently operates a clinic in suburban Washington, D.C.:

Continue reading Life News article here

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Life Site News

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Abortion will automatically become illegal in Arkansas after Roe v. Wade is invalidated, thanks to a law just signed by the state’s Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson.

Earlier this month the state legislature voted to pass the Arkansas Human Life Protection Act, which declares it is “time for the United States Supreme Court to redress and correct the grave injustice and the crime against humanity” that is abortion.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">It provides that after Roe’scentral holding is either overruled “in whole or in part” by the Supreme Court, or nullified by an amendment to the U.S. Constitution, legal abortion will be “abolished” in the state except to save a pregnant woman’s life from a “physical disorder, physical illness, or physical injury.”

Abortionists who violate the law would face a fine of up to $100,000 and/or up to ten years in prison. Women seeking abortions could not be prosecuted, and the bill says it would not apply to the use of contraceptives administered “before the time when a pregnancy could be determined through conventional medical testing.”

Hutchinson, who has previously signed a ban on dismemberment abortions and canceled the state’s Medicaid contract with Planned Parenthood, signed the new law late Tuesday afternoon, the Associated Press reports. This makes Arkansas the fifth state to enact such a “trigger law”; another nine still have their unenforced, pre-Roe abortion bans on the books.

Because it wouldn’t take effect until after Roe falls, the Arkansas Human Life Protection Act won’t impact future abortion deliberations at the Supreme Court. Supporters say it’s important to prepare state laws for a favorable ruling they hope President Donald Trump’s judicial nominees will deliver in the near future.

In the meantime, the legislatures of Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas are currently working to pass bills banning abortion as soon as a fetal heartbeat is detectable, in hopes of provoking legal challenges and instigating such a review.

By Carole Novielli
Live Action News

Is Planned Parenthood purging staffers connected to aborted baby parts scandal? In 2015, the Center for Medical Progress (CMP) released video footage which captured a number of high ranking Planned Parenthood officials involved in the grisly body parts scandal. Operation Rescue president, Troy Newman, who served as a founding board member for CMP while the undercover investigation took place, speculates that Planned Parenthood’s staffers may be “are running from prosecution” and feels the changes may be related to an ongoing FBI investigation of the abortion corporation.

“In December 2015, the Senate Judiciary Committee and the House Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives both referred the Planned Parenthood Federation of American and six regional affiliates to the Department of Justice for criminal investigation and prosecution for the illegal sale of aborted baby parts and other federal crimes,” the report states.

“Pretty much every one who had anything to do with the trafficking of aborted babies is gone from Planned Parenthood, including their CEO Cecile Richards,” Newman said.

A review of OR’s partial list of retired PP staffers (seen below) makes a compelling case for OR’s suspicions.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">In 2016, multiple abortion providers filed a lawsuit against Texas over regulations requiring that aborted fetuses be given a proper burial rather than disposing of them in landfill or sewers, as previously allowed.

The abortion providers argued that the regulations violated Due Process rights by placing a burden on the woman seeking an abortion to find and arrange for a dignified burial.

At the preliminary injunction hearing, Catholic Conference Executive Director Jennifer Allmon testified in favor of the regulations, noting that the Conference was willing to work with Catholic churches to provide free common burials.

In March 2018, the abortion providers served the Catholic Conference a “third-party subpoena” demanding all documents regarding abortion, embryonic and fetal tissue remains, as well as all communication, including confidential, the bishops may have had with state government officials or the state legislature.

In response, the bishops filed a motion against the subpoena in April of last year, arguing that the order violated the First Amendment and the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

Last July, a three-judge panel of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit ruled 2-1 in favor of the bishops, with Circuit Judge Edith Jones writing the majority opinion.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Two pro-life advocates were banned from Twitter last week for sharing what they said is already public information about Planned Parenthood’s baby body parts trade.

The information has to do with the prosecution of David Daleiden, leader of the Center for Medical Progress, which exposed the abortion chain’s practices several years ago. Last week, a California judge refused to allow the names of 14 abortion workers to be released in the case.

National Review reports Twitter locked the accounts Pro-Life San Francisco (@prolifesf) and Eric Cochran (@Eric_Cochran) a few days later because they refused to delete posts that identified the 14 employees.

Terrisa Bukovinac, who runs the Pro-life San Francisco account, said the names already are public, and she is appealing her suspension.

“The names of the [John Does] have already been circulated and seen by millions of viewers,” Bukovinac said. “This is public information because they have made themselves known!”She urged the social media site to stop censoring pro-lifers. Twitter has a history of blocking pro-life accounts.

Here’s more from the report:

Twitter asked to delete her tweets naming the 14 individuals Daleiden and his partner Sandra Merritt filmed. Their names have been publicly available on the Internet since 2017, but they are named as “Does” one through 14 in the felony case against Daleiden, People of the State of California vs. David Robert Daleiden, Sandra Merritt. …

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">“The ‘Does’ have made their own identities known by speaking publicly about the case and their own involvement,” Bukovinac told National Review. “Twitter’s selective targeting of our organization is either pure viewpoint discrimination or a pathetic submission to pressure from Planned Parenthood and the National Abortion Federation.”

A former staff member of a late-term abortion facility has admitted there was nothing wrong with over 98 percent of the babies aborted at her facility. Luhra Tivis spent one year working for George Tiller, one of a handful of abortionists who committed late abortions in the U.S. until he was murdered in 2009. Tivis shared eyewitness accounts of what she observed with radio host Pat Hurley of the South Florida talk radio station, WFTL.

Tiller rarely referred to the preborn child as a “baby,” and in a tape he produced for patients, he told women, “Our process is natural. We are going to help you have the premature delivery of a small stillborn under twilight anesthesia using nature’s technique of labor and delivery.” The abortionist also says, “The woman is the patient, the fetus is the problem.”

Tivis was a sold-out believer in abortion, having previously been active in her local National Organization for Women chapter before her employment with Tiller, where she handled his medical records and scheduled patient appointments. Tivis said that it was what she witnessed inside the abortion facility that made her pro-life.

“In 1988, I was a employee of Dr. George Tiller in Wichita who does almost all third trimester abortions… seven-, eight- and nine-month babies, perfectly healthy. Not even the poor excuse of them being handicapped to kill them. It was what I saw in that clinic that started turning me around, I was so horrified,” Tivis said.

“I was a medical secretary, a medical transcriptionist, I handled all the medical records — so even though I was not a nurse I had a full knowledge of all the medical facts of the case. And I also scheduled patient appointments….”

According to Tivis, during the time she was employed, Tiller ended the lives of approximately 1,000 babies a year in the third trimester, charging an average of $1,800 to $3,000 dollars at that time.

“He nets over a million dollars a year easily,” she stated. “And [patients] had to have cash.”

The first thing Tivis said she discovered was how Tiller lied. “He had told me that he only did late-term abortions for compelling medical reasons…. I saw that there was nothing wrong with well over 98% of these babies.”

She added, “A lot of the ones that had something wrong, it was very minor.”

Tivis claims that Tiller would manipulate the measurements of the BPD, a.k.a. the biparietal diameter, a measurement of the baby’s head, to determine the baby’s gestational age. Despite the fact that Tiller admitted the ordinary method of measurement was top to bottom, Tivis said Tiller measured from side to side.

READ: Abortion is violent and the photos are real, says late-term abortionist

“I was told to lie over the phone to these mothers…. I was required to falsify his medical records to indicate these were not third trimester abortions,” the former staffer claimed.

Tiller’s abortion process took four days, and according to Tivis, “basically what he would do is kill the baby and induce labor.”

She described how Tiller would inject “poison” called digoxin into the baby’s heart to begin fetal demise. The process ended with women “going down to the basement” on the third day where they “were heavily drugged,” and would go through “a full labor and deliver their baby.”

“[T]hese babies were definitely big enough that anybody could tell that was a real human being,” Tivis said. “There was no excuse for what’s going on.”

Tivis described the time that a former late-term abortion patient sent them a letter “vividly describing what was going on” at Tiller’s facility. “She said that all the women were screaming and crying and blood was running down their legs and it was the most horrible experience of her life.”

The facility had its own on-site crematorium where pro-lifers say they witnessed ashes descending from the sky after the ovens had been fired up.

A lawsuit New York state brought against a Christian pro-life activist who was accused of threatening patients and staff outside an abortion clinic in New York City was dropped earlier this week.

New York Attorney General Letitia James ended a lawsuit leveled in 2017 against Scott Fitchett Jr., one of about a dozen activists from local churches and the community who regularly protest outside the Choices Women's Medical Center in Queens.

The Liberty Counsel, which represented Fitchett, released a statement Monday explaining that while the attorney general has continued an appeal against the group of activists, she “informed the appellate court that the appeal is abandoned as to Fitchett.”

Roger Gannam, Liberty Counsel’s assistant vice president of Legal Affairs, explained that it “was clear the Attorney General could prove no wrongdoing against Scott Fitchett, and never should have filed a lawsuit against him.”

“Perhaps the new attorney general has realized that Scott Fitchett not only has a constitutional right to speak on New York’s public sidewalks, but will not bow down to the state’s pro-abortion bullying and intimidation,” said Gannam in a statement.

In June 2017, then state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman filed a complaint against Fitchett and other pro-life demonstrators in the U.S. District Court for

Since 2012, protesters have subjected incoming patients to a barrage of unwanted physical contact, as well as verbal abuse, threats of harm, and lies about the clinic’s hours and its services,” read the complaint.

“Protesters descend on approaching patients to harangue them, sometimes pinning them against the clinic’s exterior wall or parking meters, and even forcing them into the street and oncoming traffic as they try to escape the protesters. Some protesters go so far as to touch or grab at patients to get their attention and force printed anti-choice materials on them.”

In July 2018, District Court Judge Carol Bagley Amon denied the state a preliminary injunction against the pro-life activists, with New York appealing the denial to the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Adding to a mounting pile of fees for unconstitutional state mandates against pro-life organizations, California has been ordered to pay three pregnancy help centers and a conservative law firm $399,000 following a major loss at the Supreme Court last summer.

The order comes four years after California enacted the “Reproductive FACT Act” (AB 2775), which forced pro-life medical clinics to promote abortion by posting advertisements on their websites and waiting room walls. That mandate sparked a legal battle that was eventually brought to a halt in a 5-4 ruling by the Supreme Court in Becerra last June.

Writing for the Court, Justice Clarence Thomas said the law “unduly burdens protected speech.”

In October, a district court declared the law unconstitutional, granting a permanent injunction against it.

Drawing the case to a close last week, U.S. District Court Judge Terry Hatter for the Central District of California said the state would have to pay $399,000 in legal fees and other costs to the Pregnancy and Family Resource Center of San Bernardino, His Nesting Place of Long Beach, Birth Choice of the Desert in La Quinta, and the Liberty Counsel.

The California order comes just as the state of Hawaii prepares to pay $60,000 in legal costs to pro-life pregnancy centers for their own law that violated free speech rights, and five months after the city of Baltimore’s spending board voted to pay $1.1 million to cover the legal fees of Greater Baltimore Center for Pregnancy Concerns for a similar city ordinance.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">An Oklahoma state senator is blocking a bill that would protect unborn babies by criminalizing abortion.

NewsOK reports state Sen. Jason Smalley, a pro-life Republican, said he believes unborn babies’ lives should be protected, but state Senate Bill 13 is not the way to do it. As chair of the state Senate Health Committee, he said he will not bring up the bill for a vote.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">“I’m extremely pro-life. I support the efforts. I support the cause, and I do support the author. I just do not support this kind of method,” Smalley said Saturday, according to Christian News Network.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The controversial bill would prohibit the killing of unborn babies without exception and amend the definition of homicide in the state criminal code to include all abortions. It appears that both abortionists and mothers could face criminal charges for aborting an unborn baby under the legislation.

Smalley said the bill, sponsored by state Sen. Joseph Silk, is “extremely unconstitutional.”

We could look at the heartbeat bill. I mean, there’s other pro-life movement bills that we could tank up and discuss and continue that movement towards I think what we all want, but this is not the method nor the bill to do that.”

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Oklahoma Senate President Pro Tempore Greg Treat said he wants to protect unborn babies, but he also has concerns about the bill.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">“I share the goal of ending abortion; however, I am concerned about flaws in their strategy,” he said in a statement. “Missteps not only jeopardize existing hard-fought protections in law, but potentially lead to an increased loss of innocent life through abortions.”

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Silk responded by urging Oklahoma residents to contact Smalley and urge him to allow the committee to vote on the bill.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">“The senators who oppose SB 13 have zero knowledge of the Constitution and how our republic is supposed to work,” he told The Resurgent. “They believe that the courts are all powerful and can decide whatever they like, whether it is constitutional or not. They also have no intention of doing what they campaigned on and actually protect innocent life.”

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Last week, hundreds of Oklahoma residents rallied in support of the bill in the state Capitol. Pastor Dan Fisher, a former state representative, spoke at the rally with Silk and other lawmakers.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Academy Award winner Jon Voight, actor in the upcoming film "Roe v. Wade," attended the 2019 Movieguide Awards and said that God is asking Christians to protect the values of family in these times.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">"Family is so important and family is being attacked by people who are really trying to tear down the fabric of our society, it's true,” Voight told The Christian Post on the red carpet of the award show on Feb 8."

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">“I don't want to get into any kind of conspiracy stuff but it's really happening so we have to protect the values of our country and the values of family and guide the focused lives; we have to protect that aspect.”

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The film “Roe v. Wade” is in post-production and scheduled for a fall release. The pro-life movie is timely as the debate over late-term abortion has reignited in recent weeks after New York's new law allowing abortion up to birth and the introduction of similar bills in Virginia, Vermont and New Mexico. Voight believes the message in the motion picture will now allow people to have an informed dialogue concerning the controversial abortion debate.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">“Imagine, God's asking us to help Him out. Can you imagine? That's the greatest thing!” Voight said.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">“‘Who will go for me,' says God to Isaiah, and he says 'send me,'” the 80-year-old continued. “There's no question that that's really real. We're being asked to do something so what are we going to do? Are we going to sit back and let it roll right into a ditch or step up and save the ship at stake?”

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Despite society being bombarded with counter biblical values, Voight insisted that there are still people God has standing in the gap. The veteran actor declared that those speaking truth will have the victory.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">“There are many people who are really strong people, very bright people and very good people who have said, ‘send me.’ That's why I have to think that there's no doubt of that. It's all been written: we will win the battle,” Voight concluded.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">“It's going to be hard and we're in it right now and we know it's hard but this battle will be won by those who pursue the truth; they will prevail."
