I’m Almost in Disbelief’: Planned Parenthood Rep Says Mother and Doctor Still Have Right to Decide Baby’s Fate if Born Alive and ‘Breathing’ on a Table

Earlier this week, a committee in the Florida House of Representatives heard positions on its “Infants Born Alive” bill, which addresses situations where a child is born after a failed abortion. Alisa LaPolt Snow with Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood Affiliates said in the hearing that even if a child were born alive, she believes it is still the mother’s right to decide its fate. What is Planned Parenthood Hiding? Abortion Biz Engaging in Fraud

by Catherine Glenn Foster

Planned Parenthood is as secretive as it is deadly. In other words, it not only ends the lives of hundreds of thousands of unborn children each year but also conceals records revealing pertinent aspects of its operation costs, important details regarding “policies and services available to minors,” and it provides different numbers on salary information based on whether it is filling out state or federal paperwork.

Take, for example, the Department of Health and Human Services’ defense of Planned Parenthood’s decision to withhold information in response to a Freedom of Information Act request. HHS claimed that releasing the requested information would be bad because doing so would result in higher quality health care at a lower cost than Planned Parenthood was currently charging.

 Cue Rod Serling.

Attempts to justify Planned Parenthood’s refusal to disclose its “policies and services available to minors” have come in the form of suggesting that the information is “particularly sensitive” and, if divulged, “would discourage minors from seeking care, or parents from assisting” their children in securing “care” from Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood Opposes Bill Protecting Babies Born After Botched Abortions

by Steven Ertelt

The Planned Parenthood abortion business in Florida is opposing a bill in the state legislature that would provide medical care and legal protection for babies who are born alive after failed abortions.

This is the same legislation President Barack Obama refused to support during his time in the Illinois legislature and it mirrors a national law President George W. Bush signed after nurse Jill Stanek exposed how her Chicago-area hospital left babies to die in utility closets after botched abortions.

The pro-life, HB1129, measure ultimately cleared the House Criminal justice Subcommittee. The bill would require that medical care be given to newborns, likely to be premature, who survive botched abortions. The care would be given at a hospital and not at the abortion clinic.

“The state has an interest in people who are incapacitated,” said bill sponsor Rep. Cary Pigman, R-Avon Park. “This bill is intended to guarantee all respect and humanity to an infant that’s born alive, regardless of how it entered this world.”

Daniel McConchie, the Vice President of Government Affairs for Americans United for Life, informed LifeNews of a subcommittee meeting yesterday where a representative of Planned Parenthood opposed the measure. He provided a transcript of the portion of the hearing and a video to LifeNews:

Must Watch Video! Development of an Unborn Baby

Identifying the Human Being Requires No Debate

By Judie Brown

Most people do not follow the so-called “personhood” political scene, but if they did it might be helpful if one could see that words can be used to complicate even the most basic fact. For example, if you look at the person closest to you right now, what do you see? Is it a human being, a Martian, or a monkey?

Sound like a stupid question? Of course! There is no question that the individual is a human being. But wait! You are not thinking in pragmatic terms or you might want to debate what it means to be a person.

Unlike those who want to change the conversation in order to suit what is defined as politically prudent, we can consider reality. There is a logical progression that we can follow that will take us from the scientific fact to the recognition of person without even thinking about it.

Each and every one of us is an individual who begins our existence because of the union of human sperm and human egg or, as in some rare cases, because of an asexual process such as the one that results in monozygotic twins. Other such examples would include human cloning and other processes that are initiated in laboratories. Either way, if you are a scientist or even a first year biology student, you know and understand how each human being begins regardless of the process employed.

So if we acknowledge this indisputable fact, we can then agree that the human individual is indeed a human being—a person. He is one of us, period!

So where is the debate coming from if not from those who want to muddy the waters or attempt to count how many angels can stand on the head of a pin? In politics, such a discussion can go on for a very long time. If not, we would never have confronted more than 40 years of decriminalized killing through surgical abortion.

Recently in South Carolina, proponents of human personhood proposed a law which says in part:
(C) The General Assembly acknowledges personhood is God-given, as all men are created in the image of God.
(D) The General Assembly finds the Preamble to the Constitution of the State of South Carolina contains the sovereign peoples’ acknowledgment of God as the source of constitutional liberty saying: “We the people of the State of South Carolina, in Convention assembled, grateful to God for our liberties, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the preservation and perpetuation of the same.”
(E) The General Assembly finds a human being is a person at fertilization.

Two things are fundamentally wrong in this language. The first, as Wesley J. Smith points out, is that the proposal violates the First Amendment. He states, “To declare that a law is explicitly based on a religious belief, e.g., that ‘personhood is God-given’ and that ‘all men are created in the image of God,’ is unquestionably to turn the law into the establishment of religion.” And, as Smith points out, such language “won’t pass Constitutional muster.”

The second problem, which is far more egregious, is that by using the word “fertilization” the proposal leaves out any individual who is created asexually, thus denying total protection for all people, which is precisely what the bill purports to accomplish!

This is pure folly, but it is the stuff of politics.

There are other politically convenient reasons why many, even among proponents of human personhood, would prefer not to discuss unpopular but factually accurate methods of abortion.

For example, the most popular birth control chemicals and devices can abort children. Add to this the fact that the practice of in vitro fertilization and other reproductive technologies result in many preborn human beings being aborted.

But once we define abortion properly, regardless of what may be politically popular, we can see that identifying the human being requires no debate.

It is so obvious! So let’s get on with defending every one of us from creation to death.

There are many different types of abortion and we should all know exactly how babies die every day. The longer we remain ignorant, the more babies lose their lives.

Surgical Abortion: The surgical killing of babies in the womb

Medical Abortion: The killing of an already implanted human being through the use of RU 486 and similar products

Chemical Abortion: The killing of human beings by preventing implantation

Laboratory Abortion: The killing of human beings in research facilities

During 40 Days for Life Campaign - God Spares 554 Lives!

From Shawn Carney, Campaign Director

Before I take a break from email, I do want to thank you for all you’ve done the past 40 days … and to let you know that we are aware of …… 554 babies spared from abortion through God’s mercy these past 40 days!

Those are 554 stories of children -- made in God's image and likeness -- who were so close to becoming another statistic. But because of your prayers, and your courage to be there for their moms, they have life.
It is in this spirit of thanksgiving -- for their lives and our lives -- that we enter into the most important week of the year. This week we hand all of our weaknesses and doubts over to Christ, who takes them to the Cross, overcomes death ... and reminds us that with Him, all things are possible -- even ending abortion.

WHITE PLAINS, NEW YORK

Gerald was praying at the vigil in White Plains when somebody walked off with his backpack. But before he could get too concerned about that, he noticed two women heading his way – an older woman and a younger one.

The older woman told him they had driven two hours from upstate New York. The young woman had an abortion appointment, but now she is “probably going to have the baby.” She asked Gerald for information about pregnancy services.

That information, of course, was in Gerald’s backpack. But he passed along two pro-life pregnancy hotline numbers that he knew, as well as the web address of the Sisters of Life.

The young woman was smiling and said “God bless you” as Gerald waved good-bye. He said he’d been praying about the missing backpack, but “God responded with a much greater blessing!”

KALISPELL, MONTANA

Floyd in Kalispell says two babies were saved from abortion. In both cases, the mothers are 16-year-old girls.
One of these young women arrived at the abortion center with her mother, her aunt and one of her mother’s friends. Inside, the girl had an ultrasound exam.

The technician was telling her that she had a “tissue growth” that they could take care of for her. At that point, the girl’s aunt snatched the sonogram printout from the technician’s hand. “Look at this ultrasound!” She said. “It’s a baby!”

“The aunt convinced the young lady that it was in her best interest to have the baby,” said Floyd. “All the ladies left the clinic and haven't been seen since.  We have heard that the young lady went to the pregnancy center with her aunt -- and all is well.”

ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIA

A man stopped his car next to the prayer volunteers and asked where the abortion center was, since his wife had an appointment. One of the vigil participants talked to him, gave him some information … and convinced him to not keep the appointment.

A while later, the volunteer saw that same car, around the corner, parked off the side of the road.
The man and woman were feeling pressured and confused because the abortionist called to pressure them, asking why they had not shown up for their appointment.

The prayer volunteer assured them they were doing the right thing – that God will take care of them, to leave and not to have any second thoughts. The woman was very grateful, and told him God had sent him.
They contacted a pregnancy support center, where one of the workers confirmed that they had made a definitive choice to keep the baby.

“We at the prayer site are all rejoicing,” said one of the local leaders, “and giving thanks and praise to God for this wonderful miracle of life.”

HELP US CLOSE AN OUT OF CONTROL DELAWARE ABORTION MILL!

From Father Frank Pavone

I recently spoke with pro-life activist Rae Stabosz. She was praying outside the Planned Parenthood abortion mill in Wilmington, DE on March 13 and encountered a woman who was suffering complications from an abortion she had there on March 8. Rae persuaded her to go to the hospital. Doctors found a leg and foot of the baby still inside her, and she required additional surgery.

Later in the day, at the same Planned Parenthood, Rae saw an ambulance pull up. Another medical emergency was in progress at the Planned Parenthood "clinic. Rae began to film it on her phone, and someone from inside the mill came out and attacked her, knocking her to the ground.

At this same abortion mill, two other medical emergencies had occurred, one on February 8 and the other on February 16.

As I have said time and time again, though abortion is legal, malpractice is not, and we can close these killing centers down if we monitor their activity and then rise up in protest when these incidents occur.

Please join me, then, in urging the State of Delaware to close this mill!

When there's practically one medical emergency a week at a legal abortion mill, an investigation is certainly warranted here by the Delaware Board of Medical Licensure and Discipline.

So please click here to send an email to the authorities in Delaware who can put an end to this maiming of women along with their babies!

Vivian's Story

The following was sent to me by a woman who wishes to share her experiences from an abortion she had when she was a teenage girl.  Her hope is that it will touch the hearts of anyone contemplating an abortion and that they will have a change of heart.  Her story in her own words is listed below.

I was a 16 year old living in Venezuela.  I was so confuse as a teenager that my family sent me to an acupuncture Doctor who decided to take advantage of me and rape me. When I told my boyfriend, he was so mad that he raped me as well.

I found a new boyfriend who never touch me but was willing to be a father to the child I was carrying.  He knew I had no idea who the father was. Nevertheless, I try to take my life, to kill myself and when I in the mist of the stupor, with so much narcotics,  told my father I was pregnant, that I did not know who the father was, and I did not know what to do.

He decided to take me to New York and within days I remember being on a hospital table and the doctors talking to each other saying, “look at her she is so young "; the next thing I remember is awaking into a place where there were a road of beds like mine with ladies awaking from anesthesia.

I walk out of there without a baby and never able to forget I kill my very first child.

This is my story and if I can help any young lady I will be blest; if I had to go to every high school to tell it I will for I need to believe that this ‘son of mine' did not died in vain.

PS: the doctor told me he was a boy.
