Video Sting of Planned Parenthood Marketing Organs of Aborted Babies has Texas and Waco Implications

John Pisciotta, Director
Pro-Life Waco

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The story swirled like a tornado through conservative and social media through mid-day of Tuesday, July 14. By the end of the day, Associated Press and Washington Post had weighed in with major news stories.

A top national Planned Parenthood official was caught in shockingly callous conversation about using local Planned Parenthood abortion facilities to sell organs of aborted babies to medical and research clients.

Dr. Deborah Nucatola, Planned Parenthood Federation of America senior director of medical research, was caught discussing the scheme over lunch with a man and woman she thought were potential clients for pre-born baby parts. Between sips of wine and bites of salad, Nocatola frivolously explains, “I’d say a lot of people want liver. And for that reason, most providers will do this case under ultrasound guidance so they’ll know where they’re putting their forceps. We’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver because we know that, so I’m not gonna crush that part, I’m gonna basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact.”
The depraved act of harvesting organs from a pre-born baby condemned to death raises multiple legal issues for Planned Parenthood. The harvesting process described may require using the Partial Birth Abortion procedure banned by federal law. Also, if the revenue stream to local abortion facilities is profitable, that is a violation of federal law.

Pro-Life Waco Director John Pisciotta makes 4 points in response to the Dr. Nucatola video:
1. The stone-cold, heartless character of the narrative shocks the moral senses. Even seasoned opponents of Planned Parenthood are stunned and shaken by these revelations. The word scandal seems inadequate to describe the conduct of top leadership of Planned Parenthood.
2. In recent weeks, Texas news outlets have carried stories about Planned Parenthood exclusion from the Texas Breast and Cervical Cancer Program. The organ marketing scandal makes the wisdom of the 2015 Texas legislation abundantly clear. If Planned Parenthood can be called a healthcare provider, the organization must be ranked at the very bottom of healthcare clinics. Planned Parenthood should be eliminated from taxpayer funding in favor of real health care providers operating with high moral standards.
3. In 2013, Texas law banned abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy. This protects the lives of at least some pre-born babies AND limits the opportunity for immoral and violent organ harvesting by Planned Parenthood. A helpless but growing pre-born baby cannot give consent for his or her own death and the donation of organs.
4. Finally, I appeal to the leaders of the Waco women’s facility now operating under the tarnished banner of Planned Parenthood to immediately disaffiliate and become a free standing health care facility. Disaffiliation has been achieved in Corpus Christi, Amarillo, and other cities. The name of Planned Parenthood has become a crushing burden for its clinics and to all Planned Parenthood collaborators.
