Join in Prayer and Fasting to End the Evils of Abortion and Planned Parenthood

from Father Frank Pavone
National Director, Priests for Life

On Aug. 22, pro-lifers will begin eight days of fasting and prayer to end the evils of abortion and Planned Parenthood. Prayers for the interdenominational effort can be found at PrayerCampaign.org.

The campaign begins on a day that will be marked by a coordinated nationwide protest outside Planned Parenthood facilities. Priests for Life is a co-sponsor of this effort and you are encouraged to join a local protest. See ProtestPP.com

At PrayerCampaign.org, all people of faith will find five unique prayers to be used on that day and each day through August 29. The prayers, available in English and Spanish, include a prayer for repentance, for those wounded by abortion, for pro-life advocates and public officials and for the conversion of Planned Parenthood. Please use and promote these prayers among your friends, families and social media contacts. Those who are participating are asked to sign up at PrayerCampaign.org.

“Prayer is the foundation of the pro-life effort,” said Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life and author of Abolishing Abortion. “And prayer, well-prayed, leads to action.”

This campaign of prayer and fasting, headed by Priests for Life, is also co-sponsored by the following national groups: National Pro-Life Religious Council; National Clergy Council; Charismatic Episcopal Church for Life; Presbyterians Pro-Life; Evangelical Church Alliance; Conservative Congregational Christian Conference; LifeNews.com; Americans United for Life; Tubman Truth; Faith and Action; Gospel of Life Ministries; National Pro-Life Center; National Institute of Family and Life Advocates; Catholics Called to Witness; Jill Stanek; Pro-Life Action Ministries; Life Issues Institute; Day Gardner, National Black Pro-Life Union; Hispanics for Life.

"Often believers say their first response to abortion should be prayer," Father Pavone said. "Not so. It should be repentance, because when innocent blood is shed on the land, all in the land must answer for it. This leads us to intense and sustained prayer and fasting.”

Churches are asked to announce PrayerCampaign.org in their bulletins and on their websites from August 22-29. Suggested bulletin wording can also be found at PrayerCampaign.org.
