Urgent Action Alert! HB 1948 Ban on Dismemberment Abortions

From Ted Meehan
Pro-Life Union of Delaware County

Many of you have already called or sent emails to your state rep, asking that he support HB 1948 - a ban on the brutal practice of Dismemberment Abortions.
I am writing today to ask you to continue this effort - and call and email again.

Background

Representative Kathy Rapp, our House Pro-Life Caucus Chair, authored the Dismemberment Ban. The bill made it through Committee hearings un-amended, and then was moved through "2nd Consideration". The only thing left is for the members of the House to vote "Yay" or "Nay". Conservative estimates are that this bill will pass with more than 130 votes, including 20 Democrats.

But, in order to get a vote, the House Majority Leader needs to call it up for a vote. Dave Reed is the House Majority Leader. Mike Turzai is the Speaker of the House. Both are pro-life, and both will vote for this bill once it is called to the floor. But, for some reason, they are holding this bill back.

Approximately 1,550 babies are killed in Pennsylvania each year by this horrific method, by which a nearly fully developed unborn baby - fully capable of feeling pain - is literally pulled apart limb by limb.  It is a horror to realize that this is going on. But WE KNOW its going on, and our elected officials - including pro-life representatives - know its going on. We must take ACTION to stop this!

PLEASE, today, call and email Majority Leader Dave Reed, and Speaker Mike Turzai. Tell them to bring the Ban on Dismemberment to the floor for a vote - IMMEDIATELY. It is recommended that you keep a respectful tone - rather than show anger. We are acting in love, and we need to communicate with love and respect.

Please include - PASS HB 1948 NOW in the subject line.

I ask that each of you send at least one email to both Mike Turzai and Dave Reed, and also call their office. If you call after hours, you can leave a voicemail message, which should include your name, and a request that the Ban on Dismemberment is voted upon with the urgency it deserves.

Bloggers Note:  Please  contact your own State Representative as well with the message to pass H.B. 1948 when it comes to the floor for a vote.  Use this link to find and contact your state legislator.
