Another View: A Rundown of the Lies Used by Pro-abortion Left

To the Times:

If I were writing a farcical scam piece to make fun of the paranoia from the pro-abortion left, it would look a lot like your editorial (“GOP attack on women is going nuclear”). It is absolute nonsense, but it does demonstrate the sacredness of abortion to the secular left. And Planned Parenthood is its phony religious affiliation.

Big lies, repeated often enough, are meant by propagandists to be accepted as truth. But they are still lies. Let’s check off a few of the whoppers you list in your farcical piece:

• Abortion represents only 3 percent of Planned Parenthood’s business. Oddly enough, that 3 percent – deceptively conjured by some PP been counter – also provides 96 percent of Planned Parenthood’s income. If you bring in 96 percent of your money with one product, that is your business!

• Women cannot afford contraception without Planned Parenthood. Total nonsense! Planned Parenthood has a margin on its contraceptive products of more than 3,000 percent. They purchase bottles of pills for between $1.50 and $3, and sell them to “poor women” for between $35 and $40. If this were an oil company, the left would be screaming for public trials.

The contraceptive program has hardly been a roaring success. When the pill came on the market in 1962, the out-of-wedlock birth rate had been stable at 5 percent or lower for 50 years. By 1972, 10 years after “sex without consequence” became available, the rate jumped to 10 percent. The federal government’s Title X program then subsidized it in 1972, and over the next 44 years, the out-of-wedlock birth rate has climbed to 45 percent! Half of all American children are born without fathers! And these figures don’t include 60 million abortions! For any sensible person to claim any successes for Planned Parenthood’s “birth control” program requires a complete denial of reality.

Guttmacher Institute (Planned Parenthood’s research arm) published a paper reporting that for every 100 women who use Planned Parenthood’s contraceptive program, 13 percent will become pregnant during the first 12 months. Over 24 months, the rate rises to 20 percent! That’s one out of five! Does anyone think that Planned Parenthood’s generating of this kind of “unplanned” pregnancy doesn’t help their real business – abortion?

Women do not love abortion, and many are insulted that abortion is projected as a “women’s issue” by the left. Most victimized women feel forced into abortions, and consider it to be an act of desperation. Ironically, the most common answer given by women, when asked why they had their abortions, is “because I had no choice.” Planned Parenthood is not “pro-choice!” It is an abortion profiteer. It preys on women in crisis, and takes advantage of them by killing their babies and sucking out their money. They offer no alternatives.

To portray Planned Parenthood as the champion of women is utter nonsense. Get the facts. Read the inspection reports by the Department of Health. In the past 12 months Planned Parenthood affiliates at both Comly Road and 12th and Locust streets in Philadelphia have been repeatedly cited for safety and sanitary violations. Stop being parrots for this wretched destroyer of lives.
