The Centers for Disease Control's misinformation on family planning is hurting families looking for pro-life methods that are 100% natural and truly healthy for women.
That is why we are asking you to join our campaign with Natural Womanhood to ask the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to stop posting on their website inaccurate data on the side-effect free and effective family planning methods known as Fertility Awareness Based Methods (FABMs) or Natural Family Planning.
Women are told that hormonal contraceptives are harmless when we know that they can have a serious impact on their health. They’re not warned that some of these drugs or devices may prevent the implantation of an embryo, causing an abortion. These powerful drugs and devices are overprescribed as the only effective birth control method and even as a medical treatment for health problems that they only cover up. Because doctors and women are not getting accurate information, the CDC’s bias for artificial birth control is indirectly reflected in doctor’s offices and they end up hurting real people like Noelle*.
When Noelle and her husband, parents of three, decided that they wanted to delay another pregnancy, she was put on “the shot,” at her doctor’s suggestion.
Quickly, she gained weight and became depressed, moody, and angry to the point of neglecting her baby and considering hurting herself.
Was there no other solution for Noelle? There was, there is: highly effective family planning options with no side-effects at all called Fertility Awareness Based Methods (FABMs).
When Noelle and her husband learned and started using a fertility awareness method, it changed everything for her and her family.
We have the power to move the CDC to make a change that will help so many women and families! But we must act today.
The problem is that the statistic on the CDC website comes from poor quality survey. The data includes mostly women who reported using a much older and less effective method developed in the 1930s, not modern FABMs.
As a result, most medical professionals like Noelle’s doctor, along with prominent websites on women’s health and reports in the media, generally discount FABMs, because they read the stat on the CDC website that incorrectly states FABMs have a 24% “failure” rate.
But this rate is not accurate.
Based on the most up-to-date and highest quality published medical research, the effectiveness rates of modern FABMs with correct use are between 95 and 99.5%, depending on the method. Even with typical use, the effectiveness rates of FABMs are comparable to most commonly used forms of birth control.
Correct information is KEY to helping women make their own informed choices about family planning methods.
Therefore, we are asking you urgently to sign the petition below. We need 100,000 signatures to convince the CDC to reconsider this crucial issue and to get them to update their website with accurate data.
