SHE WAS BORN IN A HOVEL - A Poem by Judy Alciatore

by Judy Alciatore

SHE WAS BORN IN A HOVEL
ONE CHRISTMAS DAY
AND HER PARENTS DECIDED
TO THROW HER AWAY

SHE 'S A BURDEN, A BOTHER.
MUCH TROUBLE TO BEAR
SO THEY LEFT HER IN A BAG
WITH NO LOVE AND NO CARE

BUT GOD IN HIS MERCY
SMILED DOWN ON THE BABE
AND SENT HIS DEAR ANGELS
'TIL SOMEONE WOULD SAVE

HER TRUE PARENTS FOUND HER
AND RAISED HER WITH LOVE
FOR THEY KNEW THAT THIS CHILD
WAS A GIFT FROM ABOVE

IF YOU ARE UNWANTED
BY THOSE WHO SHOULD CARE
REMEMBER THE SAVIOR
HE IS EVER RIGHT THERE.

FOR YOU, DID HE SUFFER
HIS DEATH, DID ABIDE.
JUST HOLD OUT YOUR HAND
HE IS THERE, AT YOUR SIDE

SO WHEN THE LORD BLESSES
AND SENDS YOU A CHILD
REMEMBER THIS POEM
AT LEAST FOR A WHILE

THANK YOU, LORD
