Abortion in Obamacare - Important Information Regarding Your Health Plan

Chuck Donovan, President
Charlotte Lozier Institute

For the fifth year in a row, we at the Charlotte Lozier Institute are joining forces with the team at Family Research Council to examine all 2019 Obamacare health plans for individuals and families to determine which plans do NOT cover elective abortion.

Find out before you buy – and tell your friends and family

The 2019 Open Enrollment season began on November 1st and our teams have been hard at work reviewing 2019 plan documents.

Below are some of our initial 2019 findings:

  • In at least six states, 100% of the Individual & Family plans offered on the exchange cover elective abortion. Find your state here.
  • In eight states that currently allow elective abortion coverage in exchange plans, 0% of the plans offered on those exchanges cover elective abortion. Find your state here.
  • In at least six states, between 51%-96% of plans cover elective abortion. Find your state here.
  • 25 states have opted out of elective abortion coverage. Find your state here.

If you intend to purchase or renew an exchange plan, we urge you to check our website, www.Obamacareabortion.com, to ensure that you do not unwittingly select a health plan covering abortion and requiring an abortion payment. You may also switch health plans during the open enrollment season, which for most states, ends December 15, 2018.

Also, thanks to the passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, the individual mandate requiring you to pay a penalty for not choosing an Obamacare plan has been removed. As a result, in most states, you can now choose not to buy health insurance or you can purchase a plan that is not ACA-compliant – without any penalty for either course you choose.

Thank you as always for your continued support of the Charlotte Lozier Institute. Please feel free to let us know of any questions or comments you may have.
