Hometown Pro-Life Activism Group has Just Launched on Facebook

From John Pisciotta
Administrator of Hometown Pro-Life Activism
Director of Pro-Life Waco

There is something brand new on Facebook for the pro-life movement. The very descriptive name of the group is Hometown Pro-Life Activism reveals the purpose the purpose.

The focus of the group is both unique and narrow. It is all about--and just about--strengthening L-O-C-A-L pro-life activism in communities across the nation and the world. If this interests you, then check it out and click “Join Group”:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/htpla/

There are some valuable post already out there—including a free offer to help any pro-life group get through the IRS maze to get 501c3 non-profit status.

I hope you will join and also post to help hometown activism. Keep in mind the narrow focus of the group, which I describe in more detail below (in red text).

In a nutshell, HTPLA exists to strengthen organizations engaged in L-O-C-A-L pro-life activism and to help create activist groups in towns and cities where they do not exist.

The purpose of this new group is to help encourage, grow, and strengthen hometown prolife organizations around the country and beyond. The focus is L-O-C-A-L. We encourage local activism in three settings: cities with abortion mills operating, cities with a Planned Parenthood not performing surgical or RU-486 abortions, and all other communities. HTPLA encourages EVERY community to develop its own pro-life organization. The scope of this hometown action, which will be the central focus of this Facebook group, includes:

• pro-life prayer at “women’s clinics”, churches, and other venues,
• Life Chain demonstrations,
• demonstrations at the events of election candidates & elected officials.
• sidewalk counseling at abortion and contraception facilities,
• strengthening relationships with clergy
• 40 Days for Life prayer vigils,
• regular meetings to promote pro-life activism,
• countering Planned Parenthood style sex education & promoting chastity events,
• pro-life displays at public venues such as fairs and church festivals,
• letters to the editor and opinion essays in local newspapers.
• public pro-life messages: yard signs, billboards, and billboard trucks.
• media advertising: newspapers, radio, television, and the web.
• handling local media to get positive news coverage
• fundraising.

Suggested content for posting
Reports on the successes and hurdles in HTPLA initiatives
Suggestions for launching a HTPLA ministry.
Questions about how to make a HTPLA initiative happen.

Content outside the realm of the HTPLA Facebook group
            Personal pro-life news and views
