Good Friday Meditation: Jesus With Outstretched Arms

"For God so love the world that He gave His one and only Son
That whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life."   John 3:16

Jesus was dying on the Cross

Two criminals were on either side of Him

One mocked Him and turned away

The other knew he deserved to die and turned to Jesus

He acknowledged Him to be the Son of God and said

"Lord, remember me when you come into your Kingdom"

And the most comforting words in scripture

Were uttered to this wretched, hopeless man

"Today you shall be with Me in Paradise"

A powerful demonstration of God's grace and forgiveness

To those who looked upon this frightful scene saw death

But beyond the ghastly sight was the promise of eternal life

Through the sacrifice of the Lamb of God

Who suffered an excruciating, painful death to pay the debt for our sins

One sinner chose death, the other sinner chose life

Over 2,000 years after the greatest moment in human history

Jesus still reaches with outstretched hands to the world

With His Divine Love, Grace and Forgiveness
