Catholic Bishop Leads March Outside Planned Parenthood Abortion Clinic: “This is a Baby, Not a Thing”

Catholics in one of the most pro-abortion states in America marched peacefully around at Planned Parenthood abortion facility recently to pray for an end to its deadly practices.

Bishop Michael C. Barber of the Catholic Diocese of Oakland, California led the rosary procession May 18 in front of the Planned Parenthood in Walnut Creek, according to the Catholic Voice Oakland. The abortion facility aborts unborn babies up to 14 weeks of pregnancy, but abortion is legal even on viable, healthy late-term unborn babies in California.

“It’s not a batch of some cells,” Barber told the crowd. “It’s a human baby. It’s a person, not a thing. The church will help any woman who doesn’t want a child to find a home for it.”
About 100 people joined him for the 40 Days for Life-sponsored event, the report states. Here’s more from the report:
“We are surrounded by truth, and lies,” said Bishop Barber in his homily at the noon Mass May 18 preceding the walk. Eighth graders from St. Mary school also participated at the Mass.
When we’re told that baby in a mother’s womb is not a human being, that’s a lie, Bishop Barber said.

When people get old and we’re told it’s OK if they want to kill themselves, that’s another lie, he said. They should be loved, we should support them, and alleviate their pain.

In the United States 150 years ago, just because you were black, you were not a human being, the bishop said. How can we change things? he asked.

“All we have to do is tell the truth.”
We can convert people through prayer and love, he said, citing how St. Teresa of Calcutta’s prayer and love changed people’s minds.

The 40 Days for Life campaign is based on love and compassion for the unborn child and mother. Through peaceful, prayerful outreach, pro-life advocates have helped save more than 14,000 babies from abortion.

Nearly 1 million unborn babies are aborted every year in America, but abortions numbers have been dropping rapidly as pro-life advocates provide women with the information and support that they deserve to choose life for their unborn babies.
