Every Pre-Born Baby Should Receive Royal Treatment

"For each child is a priceless gift, worth more than all the wealth Buckingham Palace has to offer."

It was a question that popped up at computer terminals, coffee tables, and cafes--Did you hear that Kate is expecting another baby?

Kate, of course, is the Duchess of Cambridge who, with her husband William, is now anticipating a third royal heir.

Kate's other children, George and Charlotte, have graced many a magazine cover, so it is only fitting that their little brother or sister is being greeted with enthusiasm fit for a king or queen.

There is something about a pending royal birth that makes hearts dance like the cast of Downton Abbey at a birthday party. The anticipation brings excitement, fascination, and joy.

Shouldn't all preborn babies be greeted this way? Despite the circumstances of their conception, their socio-economic status, or their health concerns?
Each baby is a prince or princess whose greatest need, at any given moment, is love. Each demands our respect, and their parents, whether that status has been achieved by birth or by adoption, deserve our support.
For each child is a priceless gift, worth more than all the wealth Buckingham Palace has to offer.
The more we recognize this--in our public policies, our court decisions, and our laws--the more joyful our nation will be.
