Media Repeatedly Deceives Public in Hobby Lobby Coverage

James D. Agresti
Crisis Magazine

In the buildup to the Supreme Court’s Hobby Lobby decision, and even more so in its aftermath, prominent news outlets have been aggressively spreading falsehoods about key aspects of the case. Beyond logical fallacies about who is imposing their will on others, many reports and commentaries also contain statements that are discredited by the scientific facts at the core of this case.
Although journalism standards give commentators “wide latitude” to express their views, this is not a license to mutilate the truth. In the words of New York Times deputy editorial page editor Trish Hall, “the facts in a piece must be supported and validated. You can have any opinion you would like, but you can’t say that a certain battle began on a certain day if it did not.”
Yet, the New York Times and other media outlets have repeatedly broadcast demonstrably false claims about the Hobby Lobby case. Among the most frequent of these are as follows:
  • Medical science shows that the Obama administration’s “contraception” mandate has nothing to do with abortion.
  • IUDs don’t terminate human embryos.
  • Morning-after pills don’t kill human embryos.

DOH Finds Pa.'s 2nd Largest Abortion Chamber Violating State Law‏

From Mike McMonagle, President
Pro-Life Coalition of Pennsylvania

This link  will take you to a story by Eric Scheidler written and posted in LifeNews.com on the January 30, 2014 DOH inspection report
of the Philadelphia Women's Center abortion chamber, which is the
second largest child killing center in our state. (here is another link to the article) This report
revealed a serious violation of our state's informed consent law,
i.e., photocopying the physician's signature. Under Act 122, which
became effective on June 20, 2012, the Pa. DOH has the authority to
revoke the license of this abortion chamber for this violation.

We should consider possible actions in court, with members of the Pa. General Assembly, and with members of Gov. Corbett's Administration, to respond to this report. Please recall that an August 2013 DOH inspection report on PP's center-city Philadelphia abortion chamber (which is the largest child killing center in our state) revealed that PP routinely violates our state's child abuse reporting laws.

Once you are a member, you can post and also add your friends as members. Your participation is urgently needed to get this Facebook group accelerated into orbit. Possibly, you could send a message to you friends about this group. A strong and growing pro-life movement needs healthy grass roots.

5. Reconstruction of “Old Wooden Cross” in the sight of PP Waco
As you may know, just a few weeks, our Old Wooden Cross near Planned Parenthood Waco was vandalized and broken. See below, I’m praying that someone can step forward to restore the cross with a weathered wood cross beam. If you are that person, please let me know. I believe this contributes to saving lives and souls of Planned Parenthood’s customers, employees, providers of services and neighbors.

DEATH IS SOLD HERE: MY ABORTIONIST DIED

Reverend Katherine Marple
KeepLifeLegal.com

Michael Freiman died this past month. He was an abortionist, a murderer. He had children and grandchildren; he upheld quite a nice long life which NONE of the children he aborted enjoyed, nor most of the women he violated.
Dr. Michael Freiman failed women. He sold abortion and laughed in luxury with his wanted family. He lived 85 years and died of lung cancer on July 17.
And he killed my unborn baby in 1978.
“On a balmy day that May, Dr. Freiman performed the first legal abortion in the state in 139 years….He performed six more that day.”

Welcome Baby Filipino 100 Million!

Catholic island nation reaches milestone despite intense pressure from Obama administration to legalize abortion and enforce coercive population control

by Anne Roback Morse and Steven Mosher

Population Research Institute welcomes the birth of little Chonalyn Sentino. Baby Chonalyn was born this past Sunday to parents Clemente and Dailin, and was feted in the Philippines as “Baby 100 Million.” PRI welcomes Baby Chonalyn as well, saying that she will be a blessing to her family, her community, and her nation.

The Philippines is one of the largest Catholic countries in the world, and its people value children. For this reason, it has been a target of the population controllers for decades. It was one of the countries singled out by Henry Kissinger’s National Security Council in 1974 for special “attention” and, more recently, has been bullied by the Obama administration into passing its first population control law.

The bill, which was touted as being all about promoting “reproductive health,” was actually intended to drive down the birth rate. For example, section 15  requires that all couples receive a "Certificate of Compliance" from the local Family Planning Office before becoming eligible for a marriage license.

Some in the Philippines are decrying Chonalyn’s birth, repeating USAID’s talking points about the “dangers” of overpopulation. They welcome Chonalyn as an individual little girl, while simultaneously calling for future little girls and boys to be removed from existence.

The Philippine Star wrote that the birth symbolized a “large population that will put a strain on the country's limited resources.” Another paper cited the executive director of the official Commission on Population who bluntly said “We'd like to push the fertility rate down to two children per (woman's) lifetime.” And the Global Post cited “concerned advocates” who thought the current population was not a “complement with the country's economic growth.”

But many other Filipinos aren’t buying into the anti-people hysteria. Francisco Antonio, a Filipino Chemical Engineering graduate student at Yale, adamantly rebutted the notion that there are too many Filipinos, saying: “I celebrate life because population control is defeatism disguised as pragmatism. And because human creativity holds more potential for protecting this planet and its inhabitants than any other resource I know of.”

A Filipina currently living in California told PRI that she welcomed the transition of her country to 100 million persons: “Filipinos are not a burden to the world population, because we not only care for our own but also for others in the world. One of the greatest and most sought after exports of the Philippines is our skilled, motivated, and exemplary workforce. And these workers tirelessly cultivate their family and community abroad and in the Philippines. We are a very social and civic minded people. We care and share because it is part of our culture and we do it with a smile.”

Ed, a Filipino accountant, also celebrated the birth of Baby Chonalyn: “The typical Filipino does not associate a baby with ‘cost’ or ‘expense’ but rather as a ‘blessing’ and a ‘gift.’ This is because Filipinos recognize that true happiness does not come from the accumulation of material wealth or prestige, but rather, from true, genuine, and strong relationships with other people. value life, not because the Church says or the Pope says so, but because they recognize it to be true. And the truth about the value of life, will continue to shine, long after the debates are over.”

It goes without saying that we at the Population Research Institute also welcome Chonalyn’s birth. We need more Filipinos, not fewer.

Pro-Life Prayer Vigils in Southeast Pennsylvania

Prayer is the most important weapon we have to combat the evils in our society; and prayer vigils outside of abortion facilities combine this powerful weapon with our witness to the crimes against humanity taking place in our communities every day.

Our witness outside of these killing centers can bring many blessings. As a former side-walk counselor, I’ve witnessed small miracles when women left these death chambers and
decided to keep their babies. And it was the presence of our prayer warriors that gave me the courage to approach these mothers determined to end their babies lives.

Presently, my activism has focused more on social media; however, I do hear from our side-walk counselors and our crisis pregnancy center volunteers about babies whose lives were spared when their mother's had a change of heart
.

Just the past weekend, I was told by a woman who prays and counsels outside the Planned Parenthood in Warminster, Pa., that a young women, who had gone into that facility for an abortion, changed her mind and came out. This woman told those praying outside that she is carrying twins!

Just by being outside and praying for these mothers, as well as for those who work in the business of abortion, we can have a tremendous effect on those who witness our vigils. How many mothers have turned around when they see people peacefully praying outside these facilities, and decided to give their babies life? How many fathers-to-be driving by are touched by our witness? How many mothers and fathers who have had their babies aborted see our signs and have regrets?

Below is a schedule of prayer vigils that take place in the Southeast Pennsylvania area each month. If you live in the area of any of these facilities, please take the time to attend one of these vigils. Your presence can mean the difference between life and death for our preborn brothers and sisters.

3rd Friday of each month

  • 8:00 am Mass at Nativity of Our Lord Church located at 625 W. Street Road in Warminster. Pray vigil takes places after the Mass at the Warminster Planned Parenthood on Louis Drive in Warminster, PA.

  • 7:00 am Mass at Christ the King Church located at Morell Ave. & Chesterfield St. in Northeast Philadelphia, followed by a prayer vigil at the Planned Parenthood located at Comly Rd. and Roosevelt Blvd.
  • 8:00 Mass at St. Agnes Church, 233 W. Gay Street, West Chester, PA. A prayer vigil will follow at the Planned Parenthood at 8 S. Wayne Street, West Chester, PA.

Diary Of An Unborn Child (video)

A Person Inside the Womb?

From the time of conception in the womb, the child is, not just another part of the mother's tissue, but a separate person. Her body views it as a foreign object. It would be quickly rejected were it not for the "protected world" created in the mother's womb. This new human life—separated from the mother by protective housing—is a person with a unique DNA fingerprint.

Some argue that a woman's body spontaneously aborts many fertilized eggs because of abnormalities, so why shouldn't a doctor be able to abort a pregnancy? Yet, there is a big difference between spontaneous death and deliberate homicide. In one South American country, 71 out of 1,000 children die within their first year. But just because so many die prematurely, would it be acceptable to kill a child under the age of one? Of course not!

Significantly, the Bible describes a human life as existing in the womb. The psalmist David wrote concerning God: "Your eyes saw even the embryo of me, and in your book all its parts were down in writing." (Psalm 139:16) David does not simply say "an embryo" but "the embryo of ME," thus accurately revealing that David's life began when he was conceived, long before his birth. Under inspiration by God, David also revealed that at conception the development of his body parts was according to a plan, or detailed 'written' instructions, which made him the person he was.

Please note also that the Bible does not say that a woman conceives a piece of tissue. Instead, it states: "An able-bodied man has been conceived!" (Job 3:3) This too indicates that according to the Bible, a child exists as a person from the time of his conception. Yes, that is when human life begins.

Cecile Richards Compares Abortion to Colonoscopies

Planned Parenthood has been desperate for a long time to make themselves out to be purveyors of women’s health care, when really, their business revolves around — what else? — abortion. Oh, sure, they like to pretend that they care about things besides abortion. They certainly do offer other services, but their own annual report shows that abortion is their bread and butter.
According to their annual report, abortion makes up 94% of their pregnancy “services”, and the number of abortions they performed has increased over the years, while their other health care services have decreased. It’s all about the money for Planned Parenthood, and abortion sure is lucrative. That’s why they have required all Planned Parenthood affiliates to perform abortions, causing them to subsequently lose affiliates that actually did care about health care. What abortion is not, is PR-friendly. People don’t like abortion. So Planned Parenthood has to pretend they actually care about women’s health, even lying about the services they perform. (Remember the mammogram debacle?)

God Is Not Welcome Here

Judie Brown, President
American Life League

“A small error in the beginning leads to a multitude of errors in the end” – Aristotle, De Coelo
The small error in this case is the assumption made long ago by the members of the United States Supreme Court that they had the power to play God. First, the court ignored the science on the subject of how birth control chemicals work and removed all barriers to the sale of such drugs.
Next, the court chose to relegate certain human beings into the category of trash, ignoring scientific facts and dismissing anyone prior to birth as nothing more than tissue mass. This is how the Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton decisions came to be decided.
Since then, the small errors have become one enormous abyss of evil.
Today, for example, Planned Parenthood in York, Pennsylvania, tells women that medically induced abortions are not abortions at all. They are “voluntary miscarriages.” Such blatant lies are nothing new at Planned Parenthood, but the arrogance of such comments is indicative of what happens when a culture loses respect for the Creator of the human person.
At the same time man’s embrace of technology can literally control when and how a pregnancy actually occurs, we see yet another arena where the public remains unaware of the small errors such “experts” are passing off as credible scientific advancement. For example, the business of females donating their eggs so that other women might become pregnant has become dangerous to the babies that come to be as well as their mothers. One recent clinical study exposes the fact that, “Women who become pregnant using donated eggs have at least three times the risk of developing serious complications.” The article continues, “Such cases are four times as likely to suffer pre-eclampsia and have a threefold risk of high blood pressure in pregnancy.”
Did God intend that women who produce eggs in their fallopian tubes during their fertile time make a decision to donate those eggs for the use of others? Of course not! This is about as far from the natural design for procreation as the idea that, by using surrogate mothers, two people of the same sex can adopt a child into their “family.”

African Women Turning to Natural Family Planning

Turning Down Abortifacient Contraceptives, Survey Reveals

by Anne Morse and Steven Mosher
It seemed like your typical family planning conference: it was sponsored by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the World Health Organization’s Department of Reproductive Health and Research. It had the typical title: “Is access enough? Understanding and addressing unmet need for Family Planning.” It even seemed to have the usual group of presenters ready with their cherry-picked findings to lobby for even more money to be spent on the contraception and sterilization of African women.
But, this time, in the small town of Nanyuki, Kenya, which sits right on the Equator, something different happened.
Three researchers—one from Geneva, one from Paris, and one from Burkina Faso—presented a paper which called into question several of the basic premises of the population controllers. They found that natural family planning methods not only work well, but that they are successfully used by large numbers of women. They also found that, because previous surveys completely ignored NFP, the so-called “unmet need for contraception” has been grossly overestimated.
The researchers came to their remarkable conclusions in the course of a study conducted in Ouagadougou, the capital city of the West-African country of Burkina Faso, and published in the journal Studies in Family Planning this June.
They took a novel approach: Instead of simply using the standard health questionnaire that ignores NFP, they decided that their survey would include questions to the women about their use of natural methods of family planning.
They found that surprisingly large numbers of women used NFP. Of the women surveyed, almost 25% reported that they used a natural method for family planning. That is to say, the previous health surveys carried out by USAID and other population control-minded organizations had completely ignored that fact that one-quarter of the women were using some form of NFP.
Because of this error—which some would call deliberate—the previous health surveys have been way off the mark. They record that only 35% of Burkina Faso women used artificial contraception and wrongly conclude from this that the other 65% have an “unmet need” to be put on the pill, injected with Depo Provera, or sterilized.
The new study shows that 1 in 4 women in Burkina Faso cannot possibly have an “unmet need for family planning”, since their “needs” are already being met by the use of a safe, effective, healthy and free natural method. The authors conclude that past surveys have overestimated the “unmet need for contraception” by a whopping 25%.
All this is to say that the population controllers hold natural methods of family planning in such disdain that they wrongly view the 25% of women who use NFP as deluded.
As for the other 40%, it is by no means certain that they are eagerly lining up to be contracepted or sterilized either. USAID’s ”experts” also cite Burkina Faso’s high birth rate as evidence that—regardless of what the women themselves say—they obviously have an enormous “unmet need” to be contracepted and sterilized. According to the Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) carried out by USAID, the average woman in Burkina Faso gives birth to 6 children over her lifetime. Because this is slightly more than their average desired fertility of 5.2 children, the population controllers conclude that the average woman in Burkina Faso is having more children than she wants.
But it doesn’t take a Ph.D. in demography to figure out why Burkina Faso women are having children. Child mortality rates are so high that the probability of having 5 children who all live until their 5th birthday is only 50%.  And just 25 years ago, when women who are now ending their reproductive lives were in their early twenties and just starting to have children, the probability of having 5 children who all survive until their 5th birthday was less than 30%. Simply put, the women of Burkina Faso are giving birth to more children than they say they want because so many of their children die. Having an “extra” child or two is insurance. It’s the only way they can ensure that they reach their desired family size.
At the end of the day, population controllers really don’t care what the women of Africa want. Instead, they are determined to dictate to them what their fertility will be regardless. And it’s no wonder that they exaggerate “unmet need,” since this number is one of the principal justifications for USAID’s billion-dollar population control budget. “Look at how many hundreds of millions of women have a crying need for more contraceptives,” its lobbyists tell Congress. “We need more money.”
The authors of the new study suggest what we at PRI have been saying for years, namely, that future surveys must ask questions to accurately include the large proportion of women who use natural methods, and that health clinics actively promote natural fertility awareness methods.
The current surveys that miscategorize a quarter of the women serve the purposes of the population controllers and the pill manufacturers, not the women themselves.
The author’s also concluded that women aren’t refusing hormonal contraception because of “problems of access”, but because of “dislike for modern methods [of contraception].”
If you’ve ever wondered why USAID insists on shipping container loads of contraceptives to places like Burkina Faso, where they rot in warehouses and gather dust on the shelves of family planning clinics until they are thrown away, well, now you know.

President Obama’s Motorcade Blocks Pregnant Women in Labor from Hospital

Pregnant woman in labor was prevented from getting to hospital across the street for 30 minutes by President Obama's motorcade on way to fundraiser

LA resident Carrie Clifford tweeted this photo of a woman in labor who couldn't get to a nearby hospital because the roads were closed for Obama

Police prevented a pregnant woman in labor from crossing the street to get to a nearby hospital yesterday in L.A. because President Barack Obama's motorcade was on the way.

A Twitter user documented the unidentified woman sitting on a bus bench for roughly half an hour, waiting for the president and his entourage to pass through, as she was attended to by another woman in scrubs.

'This woman is in labor but can't get to Cedars[Sinai Medical Center] cuz of Obama!!!,' Carrie Clifford tweeted, along with a photo of the very pregnant-looking woman.
