No, Post-abortion Syndrome is Not a Myth

post abortion

By Cassy Fiano
Live Action News

The worst thing for an abortion advocate to admit is that women may regret their abortions. Their argument is that abortion is a social good, after all, so if it’s such a great thing, then women shouldn’t ever regret it. If they do, then it casts doubt on the idea that abortion is such a positive thing.

Pro-abortion writer Maria Jose Duran opines that post-abortion syndrome is a myth, and that it’s also dangerous. She backs up her claim with her own lack of guilt after having an abortion, and a now-discredited pro-abortion study.

Post-Abortion Syndrome—a form of post-traumatic stress marked by “grief, pain, regret, and denial”—is a fallacious condition used by Crisis Pregnancy Centers (also called Pregnancy Resource Centers) to frighten women into taking their unwanted pregnancies to full term. Despite the fact that this psychological disorder has been long refuted by the medical community and fosters fear and deception, and arguably ruins lives, it remains a potent and ubiquitous tactic.

… What that actually means in scientific or psychological terms is nebulous at best; not only isn’t post-abortion syndrome recognized by the American Psychological Association or the American Psychiatric Association as an actual disorder, but a 2015 study from Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health (ANSIRH) found that 95% of 1,000 women who sought abortions in 21 different states not only didn’t regret their decision but described profound “relief.”

So this must mean that women don’t have negative experiences after abortion. Right?

Commentary:

Personal stories abound from women about the emotional, mental and spiritual suffering after their abortion. Insomnia, depression, suicide attempts, substance abuse, infertility, eating disorders, psychosomatic illnesses, failed relationships are some of the post-abortion symptoms and disorders. We have posted a few of these heart-wretching stories on this blog.  So indeed, even though the American Psychological Association may deny post-abortion syndrome, for millions of women who suffer in silence, it's a harsh reality.

Another Abortion Facility SHUTS DOWN!

from Shawn Carney, President
40 Days for Life

Another abortion facility has closed its doors ...

... and the location may surprise you.

We’ve just learned that an abortion facility in Great Britain – where the overwhelming majority of all abortions are paid for by the government – has gone out of business!

The BPAS location in Leamington Spa had been the site of seven 40 Days for Life vigils …

… including the campaign that just ended last month.

This is the 71st abortion center to close its doors following a 40 Days for Life vigil in the public right-of-way outside – praise God!

But it wasn't easy. In many 40 Days for Life locations, including England, such victories are preceded by prayer – and often persecution.

Just ask our international campaign director, Robert Colquhoun, who has seen (and heard) almost everything you can imagine – from things being thrown at vigil participants ... to an onslaught from "kamikaze cyclists."

Robert and I discuss that .. and how 40 Days for Life thrives in locations where the power of prayer overcomes the cynicism of the culture ... in this new episode of the 40 Days for Life podcast (click on image below to listen)

Robert – and Heather Gardner, the courageous leader of 40 Days for Life in Austin, Texas – share how they have overcome adversity, saved lives and seen abortion facilities close their doors ... even in pro-abortion cities.

In this podcast, Heather also addresses the need for more men in the pro-life movement ... and the important role they play.

Applications to lead the next 40 Days for Life campaign open in June ... so think about your role! And be inspired by these victories in unexpected places.

40 Days for Life is a community-based campaign that takes a determined, peaceful approach to showing local communities the consequences of abortion in their own neighborhoods, for their own friends and families. It puts into action a desire to cooperate with God in the carrying out of His plan for the end of abortion. It draws attention to the evil of abortion through the use of a three-point program:

  • Prayer and fasting
  • Constant vigil
  • Community outreach

“No, My Life Didn’t End When I Got Pregnant at 19, That’s When It Started”

By Micaiah Bilger
Life News

A college campus can be a very unwelcoming environment for young pregnant women, and Heather Scott felt it. Pregnant at 19 during her sophomore year in college, Scott felt her classmates’ condescending looks and feared that she would not find any support.

Writing for Verily Magazine, Scott described the stigma she felt as a pregnant teenager on campus:

The whole teen pregnancy thing felt like being banished to the second circle of hell. …

Even though a large percentage of my peers at school were also having sex, you would have thought that I was at a convent with the way people reacted when they found out. My friends, save two, immediately distanced themselves from me. It turns out that pregnancy equals social pariah status. Word spread like wildfire, and I got condescending smirks everywhere I went on campus.”

She was afraid that she would not find support from her conservative, religious family or her boyfriend either, but thankfully she did. Her family was disappointed but supportive; and though her boyfriend admitted that he never wanted to have children, he agreed to support Scott and their baby if that was what she wanted.

Scott made the difficult but courageous decision to take responsibility for her actions and put her child’s life first. She dropped out of college, married her boyfriend and began raising their child together. She wrote:

My husband and I went on to have three more children together. I went back to college at age 22, taking one class at a time while raising the kids. By 31 I had finished my degree and entered the job market. Yes, my story reveals me to be one of those people who front-loaded the kids and still managed to have a successful career after. I just can’t say it was intentional.

I am close with my parents and siblings, and they have always been my cheerleaders. My husband and I both work much harder than we may want to in order to support our family, but we found out a long time ago that, while we do love each other, the secret to a good marriage isn’t love—it’s hard work. (That is also, it turns out, the secret to most things that are worth having.)

Emergency Transport of Abortion Patient Delayed by Evasive Caller and Distracted Dispatcher

By Cheryl Sullenger
Operation Rescue

Wichita, KS - The emergency transport of an abortion patient in "urgent" condition to a local hospital was needlessly delayed by an intentionally vague abortion clinic worker and a distracted 911 dispatcher. This incident took place at South Wind Women's Center abortion facility in Wichita, Kansas, on April 15, 2016.

Operation Rescue obtained 911 records that indicate a patient was in need of emergency transport to Wesley Medical Center, a nearby hospital. She was transported Code Yellow, which means she was an urgent patient, but not necessarily in a life-threatening situation.

Scientists Say Life Begins at Conception with a Flash of Light

(Screenshot/YouTube/Descubre tu Mundo)

By Cassy Fiano
Live Action News

Abortion advocates often claim as a defense of abortion that no one can really, truly define the moment life begins. Without knowing that, they say, there’s no real argument against abortion. Consider, for example, Melissa Harris-Perry’s insistence that life begins “whenever you feel like it does.” Obama famously said that the question of when life begins was above his pay grade. While the science of embryology has long since been settled, it’s still not good enough for abortion activists.

But a new scientific breakthrough might go a long way towards changing hearts and minds: scientists have been able to capture the moment life begins, with a bright flash of light as a new life is conceived…

Human life begins in bright flash of light as a sperm meets an egg, scientists have shown for the first time, after capturing the astonishing ‘fireworks’ on film.

An explosion of tiny sparks erupts from the egg at the exact moment of conception.

Scientists had seen the phenomenon occur in…animals but it is the first time is has been also shown to happen in humans.
The photos included were not of actual embryos being created — the scientists used a sperm enzyme to replicate the incredible moment that life begins.

Researchers from Northwestern University, in Chicago, noticed that some of the eggs burn brighter than others, showing that they are more likely to produce a healthy baby.

“This means if you can look at the zinc spark at the time of fertilization, you will know immediately which eggs are the good ones to transfer in in vitro fertilization.

“It’s a way of sorting egg quality in a way we’ve never been able to assess before. “All of biology starts at the time of fertilization, yet we know next to nothing about the events that occur in the human.”

Republicans Defeat Democrats’ Attempt to Turn U.S. Military Base Hospitals Into Abortion Clinics

By Steven Ertelt
Life News

Congressional Republicans have defeated an attempt by Democrats to turn U.S. military base hospitals into abortion clinics.

Yesterday during the House Armed Services Committee markup of the FY17 National Defense Authorization Act, which funds the U.S. military, Democrats proposed a pro-abortion amendment that Republicans rejected. Current Department of Defense policy prohibits abortions at U.S. military base hospitals and medical facilities and does not permit taxpayer funding for abortions.

But, pro-abortion Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA) offered an amendment that would change current law to allow abortion on demand at DOD medical facilities. Speier argued the abortions would be paid for using “private funds,” ignoring the fact that the amendment would require transforming taxpayer-funded military medical facilities into abortion centers.

The amendment failed 25-37 with two Democrats (Langevin, Bordallo) joining every single Republican on the committee in voting against the amendment.

Current law in effect since 1996 prohibits the performance of abortion by Department of Defense medical personnel or at DOD medical facilities. A separate provision prohibits the use of DOD funds for abortion except to save the life of the mother.

The issue of abortions done at military base medical centers has been around for two decades. When former President Clinton allowed abortions in military facilities from 1993 to 1996, all military physicians (as well as many nurses and supporting personnel) refused to perform or assist in elective abortions. In response, the Clinton administration attempted to hire civilians to do abortions.

Baby Christopher Lived for 90 minutes After Birth, But His Life is Making an Impact

Live Action News

On April 25, 2015, Christina and Shawn Byrum welcomed their twin sons into the world via emergency C-section at 34 weeks gestation. Eli was born weighing 4 pounds, 6 ounces; Christopher, who had been diagnosed with anencephaly while in the womb, weighed 3 pounds, 2 ounces.

“The day of delivery, all I can say is God definitely granted me the peace that surpasses understanding,” said Christina Byrum. “His supernatural power gave me the strength to walk into the operating room and lay on the table, not knowing if either of my boys were going to make it safely through the delivery process. I was blessed to see them both on the sonogram machine right before delivery. […] Knowing they were both alive and weren’t experiencing any distress gave me hope that they would both be born alive. God granted me that wish.”

The Byrums knew that due to anencephaly, Christopher could die before birth. They were hoping to have as much time with him as possible, and were blessed with 90 minutes to spend with him before he died. During that time, they were able to get photos of the boys together. The family, including grandparents, aunts, uncles, and seven older siblings, were able to meet Christopher and spend time with him before he passed.

Although Christopher was born too small to donate his organs, The Living Legacy Foundation was able to use his body to educate their staff on the procurement and transplant of infant organs.

“Through this procedure the staff was able to develop a specialized pack of surgical implements needed in the recovery and transplant process to aid in the speed and efficiency of the procedure,” explained Christina. Byrum. “To honor Christopher’s gift of education, The Living Legacy Foundation is naming the specialized pack ‘Christopher’s Pack.’”

Clinic Owner: Abortion is a Sacrament and Done for Love of the Baby

Patricia Baird-Windle

Patricia Baird-Windle
By Sarah Terzo
National Right to Life

Q: You owned and operated a clinic that performed abortions for more than 20 years. Yet in the early ’80s you said, “I’m not pro-abortion. I know no one who is pro- abortion.” That seems to be a contradictory statement.  From an interview with then abortion clinic owner Patricia Baird-Windle:

BAIRD-WlNDLE: I no longer feel that way. I am now pro-abortion. I’ve come a long, long way….

I now consider abortion to be a major blessing, and to be a sacrament in the hands of women….

At the very crucible of the sacrament of abortion work is the sentence in a letter written to me by a woman when I retired, and that is some women have an abortion out of love for the baby.

From: Pam Platt, “A Radical Bows Out: Abortion provider Patricia Baird-Windle reflects on her career, her choices,” FLORIDA TODAY. This was reprinted in “The Forerunner,” August 29, 1999.

Editor’s note. Sarah Terzo is a pro-life author and creator of the clinicquotes.com website. She is a member of Secular Pro-Life and PLAGAL.

Ms. Baird-Windle should be reminded of the words of Holy Scripture regarding the the sanctity of life from conception to natural death:

"You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit them together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! It is amazing to think about. Your workmanship is marvelous—and how well I know it. You were there while I was being formed in utter seclusion! You saw me before I was born and scheduled each day of my life before I began to breathe. Every day was recorded in your book!"

These Catholic Colleges Violate Church Teachings With Pro-Abortion Commencement Speakers

catholic2

By Steven Ertelt
Life News

A pro-life organziation that serves as a watchdog for Catholic colleges and universities has published a list of Catholic educational institutions that are violating the pro-life teachings of the Catholic Church by having pro-abortion commencement speakers.

Research conducted by The Cardinal Newman Society reveals that at least 10 Catholic colleges will be honoring individuals at their 2016 commencement ceremonies who have publicly opposed Church teaching in their statements and actions,” the group says. “By honoring those who disregard Catholic teaching, and holding them up as role models for students, administrators at these Catholic colleges send a dangerous message to students, betray the religious mission of their institutions and disregard the guidance of the U.S. bishops.”

“Families who choose a Catholic education deserve much better than this,” said Patrick Reilly, president of The Cardinal Newman Society. “By passing over the opportunity to present good role models for students — people who embrace not only a call to leadership but God’s call to virtue and faith — a Catholic college falsely honors those who oppose moral truths and dishonors its graduating students.”

The nation’s Catholic bishops have made it very clear that Catholic colleges and universities should not give a platform to abortion advocates.

In 2004, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) released “Catholics in Political Life,” which requires Catholic institutions to withhold honors and platforms from public opponents of Church teaching — and a commencement address certainly is both a prominent platform and a coveted honor, especially when paired with an honorary degree. The document states in part:

The Catholic community and Catholic institutions should not honor those who act in defiance of our fundamental moral principles. They should not be given awards, honors or platforms which would suggest support for their actions.

Political Leadership School to be held in Middletown, DE on April 30th

from Senator Ted Harvey
Foundation for Applied Conservative Leadership

Planned Parenthood and the Abortionists are doubling down on pro-life activists.

You see, we’ve been making progress in defending the unborn around the country. And pro-life activists aren’t just working to end late-term abortions. Ambitious efforts are underway to completely DEFUND Planned Parenthood.

Because of this the pro-abort lobby is on the war path to repeal every bit of progress we’ve made. Make no mistake about it, they want to shut us down once and for all. They want to create an America where abortion-on-demand is a matter of settled law. We must get more pro-lifers into the fight--NOW.

And I’m not just talking about numbers, we need pro-lifers trained in the best political tactics out there. That’s why I’m inviting you to attend a Political Leadership School coming up in Middletown, DE hosted by the Foundation for Applied Conservative Leadership.

These classes are taught by instructors who don’t just honor the sanctity of life, they fight for it. They know all the tricks used by pro-abort politicians.  And they’ll teach you how to beat Planned Parenthood’s political machine.

You see, there are specific things you need to know when you’re trying to pressure a politician or craft pro-life legislation.  There are tools that you need to use to pick and choose your battles wisely.

The only way to get this is by attending the Middletown, DE Political Leadership School coming up on April 30.

I hope you’ll  attend the school if you’re serious about protecting the unborn in America.
What does it say about our country to allow the horror of abortion to continue?

What does it say about you and me if we don’t do anything to stop it?

What will we tell our grandchildren when they ask what we did to get the country back on track?
Will we pave the way for a better future for those that come after us?
I was skeptical when I signed up to take this class for the first time, but to my surprise it changed everything I thought I knew about politics.  And it helped me accomplish things I never thought possible as a State Senator.

If you care as much about protecting unborn babies as I do, I hope you will sign up today for the Middletown, DE Political Leadership School. If not you, then who?  If not now, then when?

Think about it, after taking this 1-day course on April 30 in Middletown, DE, you’re going to have the tools you need to immediately start holding anti-life politicians accountable.  And you’re going to know how to maximize your impact with limited time, talent and treasure. So what are you waiting for?

Please click the image below right now to reserve your seat in the upcoming Middletown, DE class.

How many times have you been told “this is the best deal we could get?”  So many pro-life groups have been fed lies for years by the political class and they’ve been taken in by those that will never lift a finger to save unborn babies. This school will help you understand why these compromises are wrong and how to truly become politically feared by the Abortionists and anti-life politicians in your community.

Click on the image below if you are ready to take your work as a pro-life activist to the next level.

It's up to you and me to protect a culture of life in America.

“The Foundation for Applied Conservative Leadership's one day Political Leadership School is one of the best days that I have spent in politics. I recommend it to all grassroots activists who truly want to learn how to be effective conservative leaders!”  -Jim Runestad, Michigan House (R-District 44)

Want to SAVE LIVES? Applications Open Soon!

Chantel Poisel, Communications Coordinator
Sidewalk Advocates for Life

If you have received our emails in the past or followed us on social media, then no doubt you have read amazing stories of lives saved on the sidewalk by God working through faithful people like YOU.

These are people who -- when thinking about the problem of abortion in their town or city -- no doubt felt overwhelmed at first, asking questions such as...

How do I talk to the women going into my abortion facility?

I don't want to be "the annoying person" on the sidewalk, hoping to reach someone -- how can I peacefully let abortion-minded mothers and fathers know I care and someone can help?

I've been sidewalk counseling, but I'm so busy -- how can I possibly put together the training or tools needed to efficiently train others besides myself?

How do I know it's even effective?

All of us on the National Team have felt this way at one time or another. We know how tough it can be to stand in front of an abortion facility and scramble for a cohesive thought, much less find the time to develop materials and put together a sidewalk counseling program that can really make a difference.

So, knowing that lives and souls were at stake, we worked hard to make it easy for you: We developed a simple, time-tested, research-proven training program -- along with ready-made tools and full-time support -- so you can be successful in reaching out to abortion-minded women and men through God's amazing grace! (Yes, we were created for busy people who want to make a difference -- and you set the pace!)

All you do is fill out a 5-minute application (where you pledge to be peaceful, prayerful and law-abiding), agree to a short phone conversation so we can answer your questions, and we ship you everything you need to quickly build a team of peaceful sidewalk counselors. Then, we walk with you, answering your questions as you build and grow.

Applications to bring Sidewalk Advocates for Life to your community this summer are open May 1 - 31st. Please use the button below for the application.

Still have questions? No problem!

Our advice is to FIRST start with prayer: Am I called to bring peaceful sidewalk advocacy to our community? Keep in mind: We have folks join us who have never been on the sidewalk before -- all the way up to those who have been on the sidewalk for 30+ years! (So many love the blessing of knowing that everything -- the training, tools and support -- is all ready when you are!) Wherever you are in this journey, we'd love to be a blessing to you and your community!

SECOND, wherever you find yourself, we encourage you to gather more information. Feel free to learn more at sidewalkadvocates.org! (And be sure to read our FAQs, too!)

Again, a reminder that applications to bring Sidewalk Advocates for Life to your town or city this summer will be open through May 1 - 31st.

Remember this: All it takes is ONE PERSON'S YES to completely change the efforts for LIFE in a town or city!

In the meantime, if you have any questions, please drop us a line at info@sidewalkadvocates.org and we'd love to be of service!

A Letter to My Aborted Half-Sibling: “Is it possible to miss someone you’ve never even met?”

penandpaper3

National Right to Life

Editor’s note. The following was sent a while back to National Right to Life. It speaks volumes about a part of the abortion battle that is rarely discussed: its impact on the aborted child’s siblings.

About a week ago my mother told me that she had an abortion before I was born. It devastated me. Mourning someone I have never met seems bizarre to me, yet I am so sad. To help me find closure I wrote my half sibling, that I will never meet, a letter.

I think there is a lot of focus on the baby, the mother, or at most the father, which is great and needed, but I also think pointing out the effects an abortion can have for future children would prove to be very impactful. I did not even exist when my half sibling was killed, yet it has affected me tremendously.

Below is the letter:

She was 15 when your life started, 16 when your life ended. She said no one told her you were more than a lump of tissue. I’m sorry for ignorance.

Your father would be 57 now. She said he doesn’t know. I wish she told him. I wish he fought for you. I wish somebody fought. I’m sorry for secrets.

You would have been my half sibling. 14 years older than me. She took you from me before I even existed…before I could do anything. I’m sorry for unfairness.

You would have been 34 years old. You would have more than likely been married and have your own children. I would have nieces and nephews, you would have a family. But you weren’t even given a name. I’m sorry for abandonment.

Maybe when my other siblings were telling me lies and devaluing me, you would have spoken truth. Maybe you would have stood up for me when no one did. I’m sorry for life being devalued.

Is it possible to miss someone you’ve never even met?…because my heart longs for you. It longs for you to have life. I’m sorry for death.

I wish you could have come to my graduation, I wish I could have gone to yours. I wish we were friends. I wish I could call you right now. I wish we could share all of our joys and griefs. I wish we were at least given a chance.

I’m sorry for selfishness.

It’s just so unfair for you…for us. How could she have killed you? How could our grandmother drive our mother to the clinic so that they could murder you? I’m sorry for silence.

I miss you. I love you.

I’m so sorry no one loved you.

Satanists Mock Killing of Unborn Children in Bizarre and Grotesque Protest

satanists2

By Micaiah Bilger
Life News

Pro-life protesters faced a disturbing scene this weekend in Michigan when a group of Satanists arrived to counter-protest wearing baby masks and carrying whips.

Citizens for a Pro-Life Society organized a protest outside of the Detroit Planned Parenthood abortion clinic on Saturday as part of a larger #ProtestPP movement to expose the abortion giant’s deadly trade of aborting unborn babies and trafficking their body parts.

During the pro-life event, a local Satanist group arrived and conducted a disturbingly grotesque counter-protest. Some of the Satanists dressed in masks and diapers to look like babies, while others dressed in black, carried whips and flailed the “babies.” Others dressed as mock priests and nuns. They marched around the pro-lifers and acted out the disturbing scene in front of the pro-life banners, crying and crawling and waving their arms in a perverted theatrical display.

“This says all that needs to be said about Planned Parenthood that Satanists come out to protest against us — and are in league with Planned Parenthood,” said Monica Miller of Citizens for a Pro-Life Society. “If I was Planned Parenthood was would be horrified to be associated with them in any way.”

The Satanists issued the following statement about the recent counter-protest:

In response to the nationwide Planned Parenthood protest, members of The Satanic Temple of Detroit crashed the event dressed in bondage fetish wear, baby masks and diapers and engaged in group flagellation. The performers were then painted gold by adoring fetal idolizers. The action was intended to expose fetal idolatry and the perpetuation of fictional, coercive propaganda against the reproductive health organization.

The Satanic Temple (TST) believes that the anti-choice movement’s obsession with, and mischaracterization of the fetus obscures medical reality and a woman’s constitutional right to choice. Enlarged images of fetuses which are no larger than an inch and the personalization of mindless, senseless human embryos elevates the fetus to the status of a demigod.

Jesus said, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."  John 10:10 NIV

Satan hates what God loves. He uses those who are in darkness to do his evil deeds. They are lost souls in need of our prayers.

Canada’s Euthanasia Leviathan

Supporters invoke Thomas Hobbes in a proposal to crush
 conscientious objection to euthanasia

Canada is soon to have legislation permitting euthanasia and assisted suicide, as decreed by its Supreme Court last year. One question, however, over which some uncertainty hovers is how much wriggle room should be left for doctors who have ethical objections to the new regime.

For one of the country’s most influential bioethicists, Udo Schuklenk, the answer is straightforward: none.

In an article published last weekend, he wrote that “conscientious objection has no place in the practice of medicine”. If doctors feel that they cannot practice euthanasia or refer patients to another doctor for euthanasia, they should find another job.

State Court Judge Upholds Outcome of Tennessee’s Amendment 1

Circuit Court Judge Michael Binkley
Circuit Court Judge Michael Binkley
National Right to Life News

Editor’s note. In 2014, Tennessee voters added “Amendment 1” to the State Constitution. The key wording is in the beginning: “Nothing in this Constitution secures or protects a right to abortion or requires the funding of an abortion.”

Pro-life voters were handed a victory late Thursday as a state court judge ruled in favor of a motion for summary judgment brought by Secretary of State Tre Hargett and Coordinator of Elections Mark Goins.

Hargett and Goins sought clarification from the court as to whether or not the process for counting votes and ratification of a voter-approved amendment were in violation of the Tennessee Constitution.

Judge Michael Binkley ruled in favor of the state’s process and dismissed pro-abortion claims that the process favored pro-life supporters of Amendment 1 while violating the rights of voters opposed to the pro-life amendment.Pro-life voters were handed a victory late Thursday as a state court judge ruled in favor of a motion for summary judgment brought by Secretary of State Tre Hargett and Coordinator of Elections Mark Goins.

“Tennessee Right to Life shares the view that the historic method of counting the votes and ratifying the results on Amendment 1 was followed in the exact way as every other amendment approved by the voters of our state,” said Brian Harris, president of Tennessee Right to Life, the state’s leading pro-life organization. “Planned Parenthood is trying to disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of pro-life Tennesseans simply because they dislike the outcome of the election. That’s neither right nor fair,” said Harris.

Pro-abortion lawyers representing local Planned Parenthood Board Chair Tracey George argued that efforts by some pro-life advocates to encourage an under-vote in the governor’s race in order to favor passage of Amendment 1 had violated the constitutional manner for amending the constitution. They further claim that the ballots of those not having cast a vote in the governor’s race but voting on the amendment should be thrown out or, alternately, that the outcome of Amendment 1 be voided.

Congress Investigates Heinous Crimes

By Judie Brown, President
American Life League (ALL)

The Committee on Energy and Commerce in the US House of Representatives has convened a Select Investigative Panel to probe the marketing and sale of aborted baby body parts. The website tells us that the Committee has been established to “gather information and get the facts about medical practices of abortion service providers and the business practices of the procurement organizations who sell baby body parts.”

So right off the bat, it is more than concerning that still, after more than 43 years, nobody in politics is willing to call abortion a crime against humanity—a violent terrorist activity occurring all across our land and mutilating millions of people. Instead, this special investigative committee is looking into “business practices” for those who provide “abortion service.”

If you don’t see anything wrong with that description, allow me to explain.

The entire debate about the selling of baby body parts will continue to be a sham until those whom we elect to public office are willing to define truth in terms of objective reality instead of whitewashing it in a way that plays directly into the hands of Planned Parenthood and its cronies. By using terms like “business practices” and “abortion service” the committee gives credibility to a deadly business. This is a symptom of political correctness that simply has to stop.

How could I possibly say such a thing?

American Life League exists to serve God by helping to build a society that respects and protects individual innocent human beings from creation to death—without compromise, without exception, without apology.

The distinguishing mark of American Life League, by which we will be recognized, is our absolute commitment to the sacredness of every innocent human being’s life.

The 12 Best Pictures of Pro-Life People Standing Up Against Planned Parenthood

By Micaiah Bilger
Life News

Pro-lifers gathered outside more than 200 Planned Parenthood abortion facilities on Saturday all across the U.S. to protest the abortion business’s horrific practices.

Organized by a group of pro-life organizations, the #ProtestPP rallies reminded communities of the abortion chain’s abhorrent treatment of unborn babies through abortion and the sale of their body parts. The #ProtestPP movement began last year after the Center for Medical Progress began releasing undercover videos showing Planned Parenthood selling aborted babies’ body parts. The key pro-life groups behind the event were the Pro-Life Action League, Created Equal and Citizens for a Pro-Life Society.

While some pro-life groups had sunny, warm weather for their protests, others braved the rain and cold to stand up for the lives of unborn babies in their communities. Organizers reported the #ProtestPP rallies took place in more than 214 cities, including Chicago, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Detroit and Washington D.C.

These protesters gathered outside the construction site of a new Planned Parenthood mega-clinic in Washington, D.C. The construction of the new abortion facility has faced heavy opposition because it is located next to an elementary and middle school:

Abortionists try to Put Lipstick on a Pig

Martin Fox, President
National Pro-Life Alliance

You can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig.

Yet that’s exactly what the abortion lobby is doing with its latest wave of pro-abortion propaganda.

As you and I have long known, abortion does nothing more than kill an innocent unborn baby. That’s why the abortion lobby goes to such great lengths to dress up abortion, attempting to present it more “positively.”

Part of this new wave of propaganda is Carafem, an abortuary in Washington D.C. which claims to give a spa-like experience to killing an unborn child.

The abortionists make their customers feel comfortable, offering herbal teas and warm robes as their tagline proudly proclaims: “Abortion. Yeah, we do that.”

Carafem’s website actually describes the abortion pill RU-486 as “medicine” that merely causes “the pregnancy [to] stop growing.”

For such a cavalier attitude about using the word abortion, Carafem goes to great lengths to hide the truth, that the only thing that “stops” is the heartbeat of an innocent unborn child.

The fact is, this abortuary isn’t different from any others.

Abortionists attempt to make mothers comfortable about killing their unborn child while shamefully covering up the gruesome reality of what abortion actually does.

And no matter how the abortion lobby tries to dress it up, the fact remains: abortion ends an innocent life.

The National Pro-Life Alliance is entirely dependent on voluntary contributions to keep our vital programs running. We receive no government funding.

Live Pro-life March to Show the Humanity of Those Conceived in Rape

ALI Abortion Model Penal Code as published by the Chicago Tribune May 29. 1966
Mississippi, the first state to allow for the rape exception to abortion in 1959

By Carole Novelli
Live Action News

On May 6th, rape survivors and children conceived in rape will gather at the Mississippi State Capitol to remember that 50 years ago, on Mother’s Day of 1966, abortion was legalized in the state for reasons of rape and incest.

The Freedom March Life Wins event is being organized by Juda Myers, founder of Choices4Life – an organization which supports women and girls who become pregnant as a result of rape, and also offers support to those who are raising children conceived in rape.

Myers told Live Action News that two years ago she felt prompted by God to look up the law that legalized abortion in the state of Mississippi. She did, and found that it had been passed on May 8, 1966 – Mother’s Day. Myers stumbled upon a
photo image of the law published by another group who opposes abortion and discovered that Mississippi was the first state to amend its law to permit abortions in cases of rape.
“I felt like someone stabbed me in the heart,” Myers said.  Myers felt so strongly because, at age 46, she learned that she was conceived in rape.

Two years later she met her birth mother who tearfully recounted how she was gang raped as a young woman and became pregnant with Myers.

When the doctors told her mother that they would “take care of it,” Myers said her mother told her she responded, “You won’t take care of ‘it’ – ‘it’ is MY baby.”

Myers’ birth mother lovingly placed her for adoption after feeling       pressured to have an abortion.

Myers was born on Valentine’s Day 1957 – a day that her mother told her she realized her daughter’s birth was the best thing that had ever happened in her life.  After Myers’ mother passed away, her mother’s close friends told her that her mother had celebrated her birth every Valentine’s Day and vowed that they would celebrate together again (which they did).

Your Senators Need to Hear from You Today!

from Tom McClusky. Vice President of Government Affairs
March for Life Education and Defense Fund

President Obama's nominee for the U.S. Supreme Court must be stopped.

Replacing Justice Scalia with the President's nominee would shift the balance of the Court to a pro-abortion majority, leaving wide open the possibility that many state pro-life laws will be overturned.

We need you to send an urgent message to your Senators TODAY, calling on them to let the American people speak with their vote in November, thereby letting the next President fill this crucial vacancy at the Supreme Court!

It is up to the U.S. Senate to stand firm against hearings on the President's nominee. That's why the March for Life is partnering with a coalition of pro-life groups to encourage every pro-life American to contact their Senators about stopping a pro-abortion Supreme Court. You can learn more at ProtectTheCourt.com.

Your Senators need to know how important this is. It's critical that the Senate is overwhelmed by calls and emails from pro-life Americans about protecting life at the Supreme Court.

Please take 2 minutes TODAY to let your Senators know that a pro-abortion Supreme Court must be stopped.

Planned Parenthood has urged the Senate to confirm President Obama's Supreme Court nominee. As pro-life Americans, we need to counter their million dollar campaigns and lobbying and be the voice for the voiceless.

Depo-Provera and HIV

Population Research Institute

The Issue

Injectable contraceptives like Depo-Provera increase the risk of HIV transmission. A recent meta-analysis conducted in collaboration with the Population Research Institute reviewed a total of 24 studies published in peer-reviewed journals and found a significant increased risk of acquiring HIV when using Depo-Provera and other injectables. Injectable contraceptives are commonly used worldwide, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa where the prevalence of HIV remains high. International aid programs that are providing DMPA contraceptives to areas with high HIV prevalence may be contributing to the spread of AIDS.

What is Depo-Provera and DMPA?

Depo-Provera is a pharmaceutical brand owned by Pfizer, Inc. and is the most widely used injectable contraceptive worldwide. Depot medroxyprogesterone acetate, or DMPA, is the active ingredient in Depo-Provera and in other popular DMPA injectables including Depo Sub-Q Provera 104, Sayana Press, and a number of other brands.

DMPA injectables prevent pregnancy for three months. Studies have shown, however, that Depo-Provera can delay a return to fertility for much longer, up to 31 months.i

DMPA injectables are administered as an intramuscular or subcutaneous injection. DMPA consists of large doses of artificial steroids that prevent follicular maturation and ovulation. DMPA has been noted to maintain thick cervical mucus which prevents fertilization. DMPA also causes endometrial thinning which makes the uterine lining hostile to blastocyst implantation in the event that an egg does becomes fertilized.

The Population Research Institute is a (501c3) non-profit research organization whose core values hold that people are the world’s greatest resource. PRI’s goals are to educate on this premise, to expose the myth of overpopulation, and to expose human rights abuses committed in population control programs. Our growing, global network of pro-life groups spans over 30 countries.  For more information, use this link.
