A LITTLE THING CALLED THE PILL

By Judie Brown
American Life League

With May—a month known primarily for Mother’s Day—approaching, we cannot help but think of our relationships with our mothers. And, likewise, mothers cannot help but think of their own kids. Yet, in this age of “It is what it is,” not all women are equally enamored by the idea of bearing and raising children, and some are downright disgusted with the idea.
Take the case of the writer Amanda Marcotte, who has been known to rail against pro-lifers at the drop of a hat and who feels equally as strongly about mothers having the right to abort. Marcotte writes, “What she [the woman] wants trumps the non-existent desires of a mindless pre-person that is so small it can be removed in about two minutes during an outpatient procedure. Your cavities fight harder to stay in place.”
Yes, Marcotte did just compare a living baby to a hole in a tooth. And, for the record, Marcotte has no children.
But there is another aspect to her philosophy that brings us to the subject of this commentary—the birth control pill. Marcotte wants all birth control pills sold over the counter. Her skewed reasoning is this: “As pro-choicers, we need to adhere closely to the principle of supporting a woman’s right to the ultimate authority over her own health care. If birth control pills are safe enough to be sold OTC, then it’s up to a woman to decide if she wants a doctor’s supervision to take them, just as we allow individuals to make that determination with other drugs, like allergy medications or pain killers.”

Novena for Religious Freedom begins Today, April 30, 2014

From Father Frank Pavone
Priests for Life

Cardinal Dolan is absolutely right.

Which is why Priests for Life was one of the very first to file a lawsuit against the unjust abortion mandate of ObamaCare.  That was in February 2012.

We’ve been fighting to protect your First Amendment right to freedom of religion for over two years.

And on Thursday May 8 the attorneys representing Priests for Life – as well as you and all Americans – will make oral arguments before the three-judge panel of the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Previously I’ve told you that the judges selected to hear our case were changed at the last minute.  Two of them are Obama appointees. Our attorneys need to convince them to side with Priests for Life and the Constitution and against the government and its abortion mandate.

That being the case, I am calling on you to storm heaven with your prayers.

To do so, click here and join with the Priests for Life family and the People of Life as we make a Novena for Religious Freedom and ask God to pour His grace and light into the judges who will hear our case.

Beginning today and continuing for the next nine days, please say the Novena prayers.

If possible, I ask that you fast as well.  I’m doing this because of what Our Lord told the Apostles when they asked why they were unable to drive the devil from the possessed boy while He was on Mt. Tabor at the Transfiguration.  He told them simply that some devils ...

“... can be cast out only by prayer and fasting.”

Recognizing this, I ask you to pray and fast beginning today and continuing until Thursday, May 8.

And if at all possible:

Please Click Here and make as large a contribution as you can to the Priests for Life Legal Fund so that we will be able to sustain our lawsuit in defense of religious freedom throughout the Appeals process ...  and all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary.

Our lawsuit is to religious organizations what the Hobby Lobby lawsuit is to private businesses.

So much so, in fact, that I took part in the rally outside the Supreme Court building this past March 25 in support of Hobby Lobby’s lawsuit against the HHS mandate that is out to force the Green family to violate their consciences and take part in the killing of our unborn brothers and sisters.

Yesterday David Green, the CEO of Hobby Lobby, connected with me by phone and expressed his solidarity with Priests for Life and the other the religious, non-profit groups who, like Hobby Lobby, are challenging the HHS Mandate.  Mr. Green released the following statement:

“The religious freedom of believers of all denominations is under attack.  Our family therefore joins in prayerful support of the Priests for Life case against the HHS mandate.  As our Hobby Lobby case represents the concerns of businesses, so the Priests for Life case represents the concerns of the religious non-profit groups. Together, we stand against this injustice, and for the law of God.”

I am extremely grateful to Mr. Green and his family for both their courage to fight the government and for their support of Priests for Life.  Both of us are fighting for the freedom of religion guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution.

As Americans, we have to stand together to protect our freedoms.

If you can join us outside the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia in Washington, D.C. on the morning of May 8 as we rally for religious freedom, please do. The Rally will take place from 9 to 11am.

Joining us to pray and address the gathering will be several members of Congress, numerous national pro-life and pro-family leaders (including Carol Tobias, President of National Right to Life, and Jeanne Monahan, President of the March for Life) as well as the Priests for Life pastoral team – including myself, Dr. Alveda King, Father Victor Salomon and Bryan Kemper. Also joining us to say a word will be Josh Duggar -- of the famous Duggar Family. Josh now serves at Family Research Council (FRC Action).

Right now, though, I’m urging you to join us in prayer.

For more information on the rally and our Priests for Life lawsuit, visit  http://www.priestsforlife.org/hhsmandate/

On social media, use hashtag #IStandWithPFL.

Remember: We’re all in this together! Pope Emeritus Benedict rightly calls religious liberty the “most cherished of America’s freedoms.” For the sake of our unborn brothers and sisters, the pro-life movement, our fellow Americans and all who are to come after us ... We must protect and defend our First Amendment right to FREEDOM OF RELIGION!

Thank you for your prayers and your financial gift.  And know that in heartfelt appreciation for all that you do for the youngest members of our human family, I remember you at every Mass I offer; as do all the priests of Priests for Life.  May God bless you.

Texas Alliance for Life 20th Annual Walk for Life

Texas Alliance for Life’s 20th Annual Walk for Life will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at four convenient locations in Central Texas. This is a pro-life walk-a-thon to raise funds to build a culture of life in Texas. Our goal is to raise $70,000 in pledges.
  • 80% of the proceeds support Texas Alliance for Life's pro-life activities of education, defending policies in the courts, and promoting the Choose Life license plates to promote infant adoption.
  • 20% of the proceeds help promote compassionate alternatives to abortion through grants to pro-life social services agencies in Texas.

The Walk for Life is easy. You register as a walker, get pledges, and walk two miles. We collect the donations. You can join one of our four convenient walk sites in Central Texas on Saturday, May 10, or you can simply walk on your own.

There are three ways to participate in the walk for life.

  • Aggressive Emotivism at Charlotte Catholic HS

    by Rev. Dwight Longenecker
    for Crisis Magazine

In a recent case in North Carolina, a sweet faced and intellectually accomplished nun came to a Catholic high school to address the students about human sexuality. We don’t have the text of sister’s talk, but from the outrage expressed she not only criticized homosexual actions, but was down on divorce and sexual sin.
The mother of one student reported her son’s comments, “We had the worst assembly today, we tried to leave but were made to sit down. There are students in this school who are openly gay and some who are not out yet. Obviously, they felt bullied.” A petition organized by students stated, “We resent the fact that a school wide assembly became a stage to blast the issue of homosexuality after Pope Francis said in an interview this past fall that ‘we can not insist only on issues related to abortion, gay marriage and the use of contraceptives methods.’ ” Other students and parents were “outraged” and “in tears.” A meeting between parents and school administrators was held in which the wild emotions over the issue continued.
While high emotion often accompanies hot topics like sex in schools what we are seeing in the current moral debate in America is more than a typical emotional reaction to sex education. Instead of this being an emotional element in a heated debate, the debate seemed to consist of nothing but heated emotions. This is not emotion about morality this is emotion instead of morality, and there is a philosophical term for it: Boo-hurrah morality.

    #PROLIFE…..FOR ANIMALS

    From KeepLifeLegal

During a bit of a fray that I kind of caused, people showed their dislike for God, unborn babies, especially me personally but glorified animals above all. If you have a Facebook account, read the comments here. I guess it’s a good thing they didn’t see my Earth Day  post…
It’s awfully easy to voice your opinion behind a computer rather than showing up. I’d venture to say that these people don’t help animals, either.
It’s awfully easy to voice your opinion behind a computer rather than showing up. I’d venture to say that these people don’t help animals, either.
Showing up on the sidewalk and the Statehouse is a boots on the ground ministry. I’d bet these same animal people are the ones that scream obscenities and give us the one finger wave ALL THE TIME.

ABORTION MILL ESCORTS DECRY PRO-LIFE EFFORTS, REVEAL THEIR OWN IGNORANCE

    By Lauren Enriquez

    Live Action News

The Huffington Post’s “HuffPost Live” is a live streaming network that is unabashedly married to the most liberal of liberal agendas. Abortion — or “reproductive freedom” as HuffPost segments gushingly refer to the deed — has been a regular topic on the network. The network featured four current and former abortion mill escorts in February who came on the show to decry buffer zone laws, which were being hotly debated across the country.
Buffer zone laws are intended to create a measure of distance (varying between different states’ bills) from the abortion mill beyond which pro-life activists are not allowed to proceed. There remains much contention about whether state buffer zone laws are a constitutional violation of First Amendment free speech rights.

Tell Harrisburg - "Do NOT Support Planned Parenthood"‏

    From Pennsylvania Family Council

Did you know that 94% of Planned Parenthood's services for pregnant women are abortions?

Planned Parenthood is more than just the largest abortion provider in Pennsylvania. Their actions tell us that they are not a friend to women. And we need your help in making their actions known to your state lawmakers.

    How You Can Help

    1) Pass on a message to your State Senator and State Representative - "Please do not support Planned Parenthood."

When contacting your State Senator and State Representative about this issue, you can write your own letter, or you could use or modify the letter below:

Subject: Please Do NOT Support Planned Parenthood

As you approach budget decisions this year for Pennsylvania, I would ask that you please NOT support Planned Parenthood.

    - Why would Planned Parenthood be opposed to their doctors being required to obtain admitting privileges at hospitals?

    - Why does Planned Parenthood receive taxpayer funding (totaling over $540 million last year) when 94% of their services to pregnant women are abortion and whose own nurses in other states accuse them of setting abortion quotas and running a "meat-market style of assembly-line abortions"?

Planned Parenthood is not a friend to women.

    Please:
    1. Do not fund Planned Parenthood with our tax dollars.
    2. Support HB 1762 to require abortionists to get admitting privileges at local hospitals.

    Sincerely,

If you don't know who your state Senator and state Representative are,  use this link and type in your street address, city, and zip code.  A window will then pop up with the names and contact information for your State Senator and State Representative.

Note:  Note: For what it’s worth and whenever possible, we highly recommend faxing your messages to state representatives and senators as our elected officials receive countless e-mails, some of which are likely dumped as spam and a phone message may not get to them exactly as you stated.  A hardcopy letter often receives greater attention; however, that letter often requires more time to pass through greater security before reaching the intended official.   A fax solves this problem because it’s an “instant letter” and while legislators receive fewer faxes today, their offices still have and use working fax machines

We realize not everyone has access to a fax machine, but if you do or know someone who does, we strongly recommend this option.

The Mission of the Pennsylvania Family Institute is to strengthen families by restoring to public life the traditional, foundational principles and values essential for the well-being of society. We are a research and education organization devoted to restoring these values to our state and nation. We produce policy reports, promote responsible citizenship and work to promote unity among pro-family groups.

Women Hospitalized After Abortions In Staggering Numbers

There is fresh evidence that states need to pass laws to govern standards for abortion facilities and abortionists

    From OneNewsNow.com

Operation Rescue obtained copies of a 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruling on Texas' landmark abortion legislation, as Operation Rescue's Cheryl Sullenger tells OneNewsNow.

“In the process, the decision discussed some of the testimonies and some of the facts related to abortion in Texas, and one thing that caught our eye was a statement saying that Planned Parenthood conceded that at least 210 women annually must be hospitalized after seeking an abortion,” she says.

Operation Rescue crunched the numbers on other data in the ruling and found that closer to 1,000 women per year are hospitalized in Texas after abortions. Sullenger says that's an astounding figure.

“That's a number that we should take every opportunity to diminish,” she says. “And so we're calling on states across America to pass these laws that require hospital privileges, because that helps weed out abortionists who are incompetent and shouldn't be practicing anyway.”

But some of the information on clinics and abortionists in Texas is over three decades old, meaning abortionists have been held unaccountable for many years. Applying the same information to other states, the number of hospitalizations is believed to be even more overwhelming.

Summary of Known Health-Risks of Abortion

    How Abortion Harms Women and
Why Concerns for Women’s Health Must be Part of Abortion-related Policies and Media Debate

    From Americans United for Life

The grisly trial of now-convicted murderer Dr. Kermit Gosnell brought national attention to the deplorable conditions in America’s “legal” abortion industry. Gosnell’s trial showed that abortion carries inherent risks to women, whether it is performed at a clinic like his, or not.
In an increasingly health-conscious society, why does abortion lack a “warning label?” Numerous, welldocumented studies in peer-reviewed medical journals demonstrate that abortion poses significant medical risks for women.
The health risks of abortion undermine the false narrative promoted by the abortion industry, namely that the abortion debate requires choosing sides between mothers and their unborn children. The truth is that regulating abortion benefits both mothers and children – even their children in future pregnancies.
Women and girls deserve to know the facts about abortion. Information is the lynchpin of true “choice.” Consider the following:

Bizarre Abortion Mill/Birthing Center Hybrid Tests the Waters in New York

    By Lauren Enriquez

    for Live Action News

Buffalo, New York is now home to one of the most bizarre abortion clinic undertakings in America. At Buffalo Women’s Services, abortions and births take place in the same facility. Whether or not a baby is “wanted” is the only criterion that determines what procedure — birth or killing — its mother will request. Life and death coexist here in stark contrast: the first gasping screams of a newborn can be heard in one room, while at the same time a pre-born child may be struggling to free itself of the calipers that are about to rip her limb from limb in another.
The combined birthing/killing center is the brainchild of Katharine Morrison, the abortionist who has owned Buffalo Women’s Services since 2004. Morrison describes the abortion landscape in Buffalo as “oppressive.” A generation ago, women could abort their children at any number of facilities in upstate New York, including hospitals. Today, legislation representing the pro-life views of the residents of New York has changed that. Morrison told Cosmopolitan magazine:
Fast-forward to today and you cannot have an abortion in any hospital in Buffalo, N.Y. We’re hanging on by our fingernails.

    ABORTION STILL MURDERS UNBORN BABIES

    From KeepLifeLegal

Yes, it’s true: Abortion has always murdered unborn babies regardless of how the Liberal Agenda and Abortion Agenda try to deny it. ‘Reproductive Freedom’ would lend one to believe that means TO REproduce, not DEproduce. It’s been a lie from the onset, a twist of words to confuse rather than define.
Case in point: The pioneer of the partial-birth abortion, Martin Haskell, retains attorneys Jennifer Branch and Alphonse Gerhardstein, who make their living defending abortionists and call it ‘reproductive freedom’. Read their ‘mission’ statement here.
Ohio Department of Health shut him down, Haskell appealed using Gerhardstein and Branch. And during his appeals process, a stay of execution granted was by Judge Metz, Haskell can ‘do business’,MURDER, until that process concludes.  I have to wonder if everyone else should have the luxury of ‘doing business’ while in appeals, such as serial killers, pedophiles, prostitutes, drug lords, rapists, and thieves? Why shouldn’t they be able to continue to ‘do business’ since the stay essentially says that it isn’t illegal…YET. It’s very apparent that this is political, not rational OR legal.

Understanding Taxpayer Funding of Abortion in ObamaCare

    By Kristi Burton Brown
    for Live Action News

Since ObamaCare was first proposed, Americans have been in danger of funding thousands more abortions every year. And now, a detailed list created by the Susan B. Anthony List describes how, under the gargantuan mess that is ObamaCare, “as many as 111,500 additional abortions per year could be heavily subsidized by taxpayers.” This, despite the recent reminder provided by a CNN poll that the majority of Americans have always opposed taxpayer-funded abortions.

The SBA List reports that subsidies are one main way that ObamaCare forces taxpayers to fund others’ elective abortions. In twenty-six states, “refundable advanceable ‘affordability’ tax credits” will “heavily subsidize the purchase of insurance plans that cover elective abortion.” These twenty-six states have not removed elective abortion coverage from their insurance exchanges – thus forcing taxpayers to fund the coverage. SBA List explains that the taxpayer funding “may reach as high as 100 percent of the premium. Such a massive subsidy to buy elective abortion coverage has never before been available to the public and it represents an imposition on all U.S. taxpayers.”

Rally and Press Conference in Harrisburg, PA to Pass H.B. 1762

    Update and Additional Information

We invite anyone who can make it to Harrisburg for some citizen lobbying, and a rally on 4/29 (see attached flyer). The lobbying will  start whenever you can get there. And the rally will address the press/media on the Capital steps at 1pm. The focus of the rally is passage of HB 1762.
We are approaching the end of the current legislative session in Harrisburg, with great hope and optimism. Over the past few months, some groundwork has been laid with the help of Pro-Life legislators and leaders from across the state. Specifically, three areas offer some opportunity.
    •  HB 1762 - Admitting Privileges. This bill would restrict abortionists without admitting privileges from committing abortions in Pennsylvania. Kermit Gosnell had lost his admitting privileges      years before being put out of business - resulting in multiple cases of malpractice, many injured women, deaths of several mothers – and hundreds of murdered babies who had been born alive.
    •  Family Planning Funds - These have been separated, finally. Now there are the contraceptive funds, and the abortion alternatives funds. However, these are no longer "equal". Abortion Alternatives money has been cut by 15%, while the Contraceptive funds have tripled to more than $30 million per year! No data hints that there is a single benefit from this explosion in contraceptive spending. Out of wedlock births are increasing every year. STDs are at epidemic levels. Yet more of our tax money is shoveled into the accounts of Planned Parenthood and their allies. We are hoping to eliminate - or at least cut back these funds - and send a larger share to Abortion Alternatives.
    •  Enforcement of Abortion Control Act measures. A number of regulations are regularly violated by abortion providers. Currently,  the local DAs are charged with enforcement for these rules. But most abortion centers are located in urban areas, with pro-abortion DAs, who have no interest in enforcing this law. As a result, the 24 hour informed consent consultation - which requires a one-on-one, face to face meeting between a physician and patient - is regularly done with telephone recordings, video presentations to groups of women, or other  unlawful approaches. Other safety measures may also be overlooked.  And, the reporting of rape against little girls - aged 11, 12, or 13 years - is not done at all, as is required. Our hope is that, by assigning a department of state agency, like the Department of Health, with the responsibility to enforce the Abortion Control Act, these life-saving measures can be fully put into effect.
Planned Parenthood will also be lobbying on the same day, and so we would like our numbers to match or exceed the 50-60 people that they will bring. Every pro-lifer is worth infinitely more than the whole contingent of PP pro-aborts. So, please do what you can to support our effort. We need your presence, and we also need your prayers.
[Excerpt from great Eagle Forum article by Phyllis Shaffly...]
    On Admitting Privileges -
"On Thursday, March 27, an all-women panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit rendered a stunning verdict against abortion clinics by upholding all significant parts of the pro-life  bill (HB 2) that passed in a Texas special legislative session last summer.
This law sensibly prohibits abortion unless the abortionist has hospital privileges within 30 miles of the abortion, so that he can remain available to handle any complications he causes. On no other major medical operation does the surgeon avoid helping on complications, as abortion providers often have been doing.
The business model of the abortion industry has been to shift the costs of complications onto hospitals, taxpayers, and even pro-life physicians. The victims of abortion who have serious complications typically end up in emergency rooms where the abortionist is nowhere to be found.
If Pennsylvania had a similar law in effect, as was urged there for years, then Kermit Gosnell would not have been able to perpetrate his horrific acts in Philadelphia. This 30-mile rule is protective of women against unsafe medical practices such as back-alley style abortions, and those who side against these protections for women cannot call themselves pro-women."

    Abortionists Ply Deadly Trade On-Line

    Martin Fox, President
    National Pro-Life Alliance

    Ahh, the miracle of technology.

The internet allows you to look up medical advice, check your medical records and even meet with your doctor. But now the internet is becoming the favorite tool of abortionists to promote and sell home abortions pills. A webcam abortion begins with an online meeting between the abortionist and an expectant mother. Then the mother is prescribed RU-486, a harsh two-part cocktail of drugs. The first pill, mifepristone, is taken right away.

Then the second pill, misoprostol, is taken two days later, leaving the woman to deliver her aborted baby in her own home.

Planned Parenthood’s President Cecile Richards has already made it clear that she intends to expand the use of online abortions to encompass all 50 states.

And at nearly $500.00 per prescription, RU-486 is seen as a real money maker for Planned Parenthood.  Most state legislators are just now discovering that this practice will be coming to their own backyards.  And it is causing quite an uproar.

Already seventeen states, backed by National Pro-Life Alliance members and other pro-lifers, have banned the practice of webcam abortions. And others are trying to pass their own legislation to keep online abortions from coming to their state. So far, seventeen states have banned webcam abortions, including Louisiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin. If your state has not already banned internet abortions, please lobby your state representative to cosponsor and vote for legislation to ban webcam abortions.

And even if your state has already banned webcam abortions, please contact your U.S. Senator and Congressman to cosponsor national legislation to prohibit anyone from prescribing or distributing pills over the internet.

The National Pro-Life Alliance occupies a unique and important role in the pro-life movement. The focus of many other pro-life organizations is research, publications or counseling.

These are all important and worthy activities, but the National Pro-Life Alliance is singular in its focus on passing pro-life legislation that will protect the unborn from the moment of conception onward.

We believe that it is not sufficient to merely support minor regulations on abortion in a few outrageous cases.

Instead, members of the National Pro-Life Alliance lobby both incumbents and candidates for office to come out clearly for measure like a Life at Conception Act to legislatively define constitutionally-protected "personhood" as beginning at the moment of conception.

    Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz's TV Ad

    From Bernard Byrne

In her first political TV add in her run for Governor, Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz hypes herself as being "The Mother of Pennsylvania's CHIP Program",  which greatly benefits the health of poor children.  As she envisions herself some great benefactor of children, she neglects to state how prior to becoming a politician, she operated an abortion mill and was a working colleague of the infamous abortionist Kermit Gosnell, of Philadelphia.

It seems the Congresswoman is both narcissistic and hypocritical.

Bernard Byrne is a retired Postmaster.  His wife, Barbara, and he have been married for 48 years and live in Central Bucks County, PA.   They have three children and six grandchildren.

Oregon’s Covanta plant incinerates aborted babies to generate electricity

We are reminded again and again, in schools and by the media, of the horrific practices of Nazi Germany — how the Nazis dehumanized Jews as Untermenschen (sub-human), herded them into concentration camps, then exterminated an estimated 6 million of them in gas chambers and even used their fat to make soap.

"No More Babies!" - Expert Calls For Ban on Childbirth (1947)

Shocking New Footage Found of Planned Parenthood

Founder Margaret Sanger Saying “No More Babies”

    By Cassy Fiano
    for Live Action News

The Daily Caller has unearthed a chilling new video from Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger. British Pathé, a newsreel archive company, uploaded 85,000 historic films onto YouTube. One of those films featured Margaret Sanger, called Margaret Slee (her second husband’s name) in the video, demanding that women have no more babies.

When questioned about women who want babies and in 10 years won’t be able to have them, Sanger insists that it is somehow practical and humane to not allow them to have children.
Considering that 96% of pregnant women who go to Planned Parenthood abort their children, Sanger clearly got her wish.

    Contraception: The Ultimate Judas Kiss

As recently as 2008, Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) stated:"Taking the Pill is simple, safe, and convenient."

    By Rey Flores
    ALL Associate ENewsletter

Studies show that most women who have died from the use of the pill or other birth control products have died from blood clots, heart attacks, or pulmonary embolisms. The pill can also cause many other serious problems, such as cancer, depression, and much more.

It isn't just the Pill itself, but all other abortifacient drugs and devices, such as the intrauterine devices more commonly known as IUDs.

Even pro-abortion and pro-contraception media outlets like the Huffington Post are writing about the dangers of some contraceptives. Huffington Post reported December 18, 2013 that after only a month of NuvaRing use, 27-year-old Lyndsey Agresta was rushed to the hospital in unbearable pain. After two-thirds of her right cerebral hemisphere was removed due to hemorrhage and a stroke, she died six months later. A lawsuit alleges that NuvaRing use caused her death.

The power to biologically create life is an awesome and divine gift. We have corrupted it with poisonous contraceptives of all sorts, and for what?

We know that pharmaceutical companies are being sued in countless court cases for causing all types of cancers and deaths; but what about the spiritual death that contraception causes? We can't put a dollar amount on that, can we?

Why aren't we taking to the streets and denouncing the true War on Women that was launched by none other than Margaret Sanger a century ago when she first coined the modern, anti-life propaganda term "birth control"?

    INFERTILITY AWARENESS WEEK, 2014

     A CATHOLIC PERSPECTIVE

    By Rebecca Royse
    for Catholic Stand

One in six couples will experience infertility at some point in their marriage. Infertility is medically defined as the inability to conceive after 12 cycles of “unprotected” intercourse or 6 cycles using “fertility-focused” intercourse. A couple who has never conceived has “primary infertility” and a couple who has conceived in the past but is unable to again has “secondary infertility”. Many couples who experience infertility have also experienced miscarriage or pregnancy loss.
This week, April 20 – 26, 2014 is National Infertility Awareness Week.
We, a group of Catholic women who have experienced infertility, would like to take a moment to share with you what the experience of infertility is like, share ways that you can be of support to a family member or friend, and share resources that are helpful.
If you are experiencing infertility, please know you are not alone. You are loved and prayed for and there are resources to help you with the spiritual, emotional, and medical aspects of this journey.
