A Timely Reflection on this Past Sunday's Reading: We Are All Equal

by Mickey Kelly

Many Catholics heard a powerful reading from St. Paul to the Church of Corinth, just days following his conversion. It was heard on the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz and days following the Roe v Wade anniversary; plus days before the anniversary of the passing of the 13th amendment that freed African Americans from slavery.

Here's the reading in its entirety:

Brothers and sisters:
As a body is one though it has many parts,
and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body,
so also Christ.
For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body,
whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free persons,
and we were all given to drink of one Spirit.

Now the body is not a single part, but many.
If a foot should say,
"Because I am not a hand I do not belong to the body, "
it does not for this reason belong any less to the body.
Or if an ear should say,
"Because I am not an eye I do not belong to the body, "

it does not for this reason belong any less to the body.
If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be?
If the whole body were hearing, where would the sense of smell be?
But as it is, God placed the parts,
each one of them, in the body as he intended.
If they were all one part, where would the body be?
But as it is, there are many parts, yet one body.
The eye cannot say to the hand, "I do not need you, "
nor again the head to the feet, "I do not need you."
Indeed, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker
are all the more necessary,
and those parts of the body that we consider less honorable
we surround with greater honor,
and our less presentable parts are treated with greater propriety,
whereas our more presentable parts do not need this.
But God has so constructed the body
as to give greater honor to a part that is without it,
so that there may be no division in the body,
but that the parts may have the same concern for one another.
If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it;
if one part is honored, all the parts share its joy.

Now you are Christ's body, and individually parts of it.
Some people God has designated in the church
to be, first, apostles; second, prophets; third, teachers;
then, mighty deeds;
then gifts of healing, assistance, administration,
and varieties of tongues.
Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers?
Do all work mighty deeds? Do all have gifts of healing?
Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret?

After listening to some commentaries and homilies centered around the reading, I'm just blown away at how God has a sense of humor and his timing. Here's why:

January is another month in the calendar year that is set aside for pro-life. As a history buff, I am appalled at how history tends to repeat itself. The readings discussed how we are one body and that no one is superior than the other. Sadly, it has resulted in genocide, especially in the last century. Take for example that January 27th marks the anniversary of when Auschwitz was liberated. A priest shared how he visited the death camp and he noticed across the way homes. At first, he thought they were recently built. However, the guide told him that the homes existed around the time the killings took place. Despite the concerns of the smoke coming out of the camp, the SS told the residents to pretend like nothing was happening.

January 22nd marked the anniversary when 7 men on the Supreme Court of the United States decided abortion is legal across the country. (Who said men cannot have an opinion?) Since the decision handed down by the highest court, 61 million babies have been sacrificed in the name of so called Women's Rights, Comfort, and Inconvenience. A majority of the abortions have been done on African Americans, yet they are pawns to a political party that has a long history of immorality, enslavement, slavery, theft, and even racism. No child is an inconvenience. The child in the mother's womb is just as wonderfully made as the homeless person, disabled veteran, the mentally challenged person, the senior citizen who fought in WW2, and even the immigrant or refugee.

January 31st marks the anniversary of the passage of the 13th Amendment. The amendment, passed by a 2/3 majority in congress (mostly Republicans), clearly states that: "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction." Unfortunately, African Americans are enslaved by the abortion lobby and an unborn black baby is more likely to be killed by abortion than gun violence, AIDS, and a member of the KKK.

What To Do?

We must take action. The best way is to acknowledge the fact that we are all human. Days following the March for Life, there was a video that surfaced about the young boys being taunted by Nathan Phillips, a so called "Vietnam Veteran." There were counter demonstrations that took place before, during, and after the March for Life. Phillips led an indigenous march for his fellow Native Americans. Originally, the videos on CNN and other outlets from the lame-stream media made everyone jump to conclusions and blame the students. However, when more videos surfaced to destroy the fake news narrative, there was not a single bystander that stepped in and acknowledged the fact that "we are all human." Meanwhile, those additional videos proved their innocence and apologies have poured in. It is sad to see how alarming that we must be reminded that we are all human. No matter what race, creed, or ethnicity, we are all wonderfully made by God. We have forgotten that each of us are created by God and have a purpose in this mortal life. Yes, we have people who sin against him, but we are called to love the person who sins and judge their actions. The first way to show love to the sinner is to pray. I believe the power of prayer unleashes love.

As a regular participant in the pro-life prayer vigils, I have seen how desolate and cold it can be. The escorts thinking they are doing what is right, yet in God's eye, they are doing wrong. They ignore you when you try to remind them of how they are a part of the problem with the abortion. We must continue to plant the seeds for their conversion with prayer and love. It is a challenge to get them thinking, but we must be more vocal about it.

I believe we need to be more vocal about what is happening in our society. We cannot stand and watch as human life is being attacked from womb to tomb. We may be told to "shut the bleep up", "Who cares", among other things, but we need to make enough noise to get people thinking. Without having a conversation about abortion, how are people going to think? We must be like the summer soldiers and sunshine patriots coming together to persevere in the fight to restore humanity. Marines have a motto that goes back to WW1 that goes, "Retreat Hell". We cannot give away an inch, but we must stand like a tree and hold onto our moral ground. If Marines can defend the Argonne Forest, then we have a reason to defend all life from womb to tomb.

I also want to mention that Martin Luther King Jr.'s 90th birthday. King had a dream that all of God's children will be holding hands together. I believe that time is now. We all must stand together against adversity and proclaim the Gospel of Life to all people.

Hundreds of Pro-Lifers Bring Love to Desolate Sidewalk; Honor John Stanton

On a cold Saturday morning, 200 pro-lifers peacefully and lovingly assembled outside of Philadelphia Women's Center to remember John Stanton, the godfather of the Philadelphia Pro-Life Movement.

The rally featured a diverse group of speakers from former abortion clients to young leaders of the Pro-Life movement.

One such was Marlene Downing who spoke about how she had two abortions. She recalled how she first came out to pray outside of Philadelphia Women's Center to sing Christmas Carols. When researching John Stanton, she was in awe of the fact that he sung with a group. She shared how she had two abortions and was plagued with fear. What brought her back to life was Jesus.

Another was Ilyana who is a mother of six. She reflected on encountering John 6 years ago outside of the same post where many gathered. She was riddled with neglected, broken home, and even lonliness. The day she showed up, the workers refused to help her and have her see her sonogram. John's son Patrick,  pleaded for her to keep her child and she later gave birth to a baby boy who cannot stop smiling. Though struggling she refuses to give up and pray for women of her color who diss her. She was later told, "Give your kids what they need. Love."

Kate D'Adamo of Generation Life reflected on the recent March for Life and how there was hundreds of thousands of people marching to give a voice to the voiceless. She reminded everyone that we must "march every day in our communities for life".

Likewise, Dominic Sceski, a sophomore at Villanova University, encouraged all to be pro-life 365 days a year, not every January 22nd.

For seminarian Augustus DeSimone, he admitted that it is a hard fought battle. He takes heart that the stories will inspire the generation coming up. He hopes they bring about a world of love

During mass, Fr. Joe Zaleski recalled how he brought a group from school to pray outside of 777 Appletree Street to pray. Minutes into their arrival, John Stanton got punched, yet he still carried himself by forgiving the man and refuse to press charges.

All those gathered with the same zeal that the late founder had. All were encouraged to bring that joy in their daily lives.

Andrew Cuomo and the Great Divide Among Catholic Americans: Blood on His Hands And How to Respond

It seems that the battle lines have been drawn. In light of the barbaric bill signed into law by NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo, he becomes a predominant example of what is wrong with the Catholic Church in the United States. Granted, the last 50 years has seen more Catholics still continuing their support for the Democratic Party. As the political apparatus operates on anti-Catholic bigotry, abortion on demand, sodomy, and worst of all advocating for cop killers and other forms of violent criminals.

Cuomo is not alone. Over the years, we have seen many so called "Catholics" who continue to support abortion, yet they are willing to protect the lives of those on death row, war-torn countries, contemplated suicide, and even immigrants. Many examples range from  Tim Kaine, Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, Jerry Brown, , John Kerry, et al. These so called Catholics need our prayers.

The Teaching on Abortion

Since the first century, the Catholic Church has condemned abortion. The Catechism clear states that "Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception. From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person - among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life."

As far as those who commit this heinous crime is concerned, it goes on to say: "Formal cooperation in an abortion constitutes a grave offense.  The Church attaches the canonical penalty of excommunication to this crime against human life. A person who procures a completed abortion incurs excommunication latae sententiae, "by the very commission of the offense," and subject to the conditions provided by Canon Law. The Church does not thereby intend to restrict the scope of mercy.  Rather, she makes clear the gravity of the crime committed, the irreparable harm done to the innocent who is put to death, as well as to the parents and the whole of society."

What Must Catholics Do?

This episode in the History of Catholic America draws out three things we need to do if we want Catholics in public office to mirror the lives of saints like Thomas More.

The Catholic Church does not need to be in a cafeteria. In fact, they should destroy the cafeteria Catholicism and in turn it needs to be in the battlefields of their community, home, work, and even public square preaching the cardinal and theological virtues to change hearts, minds, and even shape the conscience of the ignorant. They must set up field hospitals for those who are marginalized, betray, and even those who are hungry for the truth.

The Dynamic Catholic is not afraid to be like the first apostles. Rather, they turn the other cheek when mocked, keep pushing forward when taunted by those who have hatred towards the church, and forgive those who have trespassed against them.

I have drawn three conclusions to raise up a fearless generation of Catholics.

1) Pray. Padre Pio reminds us that the rosary is the weapon of our times. Likewise, every catholic must commit to a weekly holy hour. St. Teresa of Calcutta remarked that if Catholics take part in a weekly holy hour, abortion "will end in America."

2) Fulfill the Works of Mercy. The works of mercy, which contains 14 of them, is a way for us to mirror the life of Jesus in our daily lives. Now we cannot convert every single person, but we can a small step by focusing on one person. "Life truly has purpose and meaning when you generously give of yourself to others." A Theology Teacher in Philadelphia

3) Be not Afraid. The bible has reiterated this phrase 365 times. That's equivalent to a daily reminder on your phone or even your calendar for one year. We are called to be fearless. We must go into the streets and make noise for the gospel rich in mercy and love.

Herb Brooks said "Great moments are born from great opportunity." Pro-lifers earned this by doing everything they have to change hearts and minds today for a better tomorrow.

"Our job is to slay the sin of abortion and to win back the women and men who are captive to the culture of violence and despair it creates," Archbishop Charles Chaput

Had An Abortion? What to Do?

I hope I reach out to anyone who needs answers on how to sought out God's forgiveness if they participated in the grave sin of abortion. Let me tell you: You are never too far from God's mercy and redeeming grace. Seek him in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, take part in a post-abortion retreat near you, and most importantly forgive yourself.

2018 in Review and What to Do in 2019

by Mickey Kelly
Voices for Life

One thing I really enjoy in the final days of the year is when I take time to look back on the good, bad, and ugly of the year since it began. It helps me figure out what went wrong and where can I improve in 2019. Likewise, pro-lifers should be doing the same thing and go into 2019 with the flame of love and hands of mercy to save the unborn child.

There were many successes, so I will share a few of them with you that happened on the local and even national level.

Local/State News

The Pro-Life Union was under new leadership by Tom Stevens. Tom is a Villanova graduate and has participated in vigils since his college days. the coalition is fortunate to have you as our leader.  Read all about him here: http://catholicphilly.com/2018/01/news/profile/family-man-now-leads-areas-largest-pro-life-organization/

Though we had no closing of abortion facilities there has been more and more people getting involved of all ages, especially college aged students who lost a 1/3 of their peers because of this horrific atrocities. One of those students was honored by the Pro Life Union of Greater Philadelphia as the recent Stand Up for Life Dinner. See article here: http://catholicphilly.com/2018/11/news/profile/young-pro-life-leader-makes-time-for-prayer-witness-at-upenn/

New life saving facility known as Gianna Center opened its doors in Philadelphia. Started in New York and named after St. Gianna Molla, the center offers general gynecological care that conforms to Catholic teaching on sexuality and procreation.  See article here: http://catholicphilly.com/2018/07/news/local-news/new-philadelphia-womens-center-offers-authentic-catholic-health-care/

Dr. Monique Ruberu was featured in an article by 40 Days for Life.

A letter from
Padre Pio to Pope Paul VI
in support of the prophetic
encyclical

Across much of the US and around the world, pro-lifers commemorated the 50th anniversary of Pope Paul VI's encyclical Humanae Vitae.

There was even a conference with Janet Smith as the main headliner. Read more here: http://catholicphilly.com/2018/10/news/local-news/prophetic-voice-of-humane-vitae-studied-at-weekend-events/

On July 25th 2018, pro-lifers watched a special screening on how the papal encyclical echoes well into the 21st Century. Read more here: https://voicesunborn.blogspot.com/2018/07/local-pro-lifers-host-screening.html#.XCeikWzsaM8

Sadly abortions continue to be high in Philadelphia, especially at the Philadelphia's Women Center in the Chinatown district. Please consider praying for an hour or two outside of this facility. 6000 baies a year are being killed. Even the security guard and glum faced professor from Swathmore University need to open eyes to the truth that abortion separates families.

Abortions continue to slide outside of the Planned Parenthood Blackwell Center in Philadelphia. During the last 40 Days Campaign, 13 babies were saved.

National News

Brett Kavanaugh was confirmed to the Supreme Court, despite the smear attacks from the #MeToo Movement and Democrats helping CNN come up with false news narratives in an attempt to destroy his integrity.

The Supreme Court by a narrow 5-4 margin struck down a California Law forcing pregnancy centers in promoting abortion.

Abortion facilities have been shutting their doors. The tide is turning.
Republicans lost the House of Representatives, yet they gained four additional seats in the Senate.

What Can You Do?

After all of this, you might be asking how you can get involved. Easily put you can start defending life in your community today by being present. Sadly many young people are comfortable with the screen in the digital age of social media. However, it does not kill you to fast from it.

Suggestions:
  • You need to be present in front of the abortion facilities praying for the mothers entering the facility, extending a hand of mercy, and being a peaceful loving present to the abortion workers and volunteers.
  • Volunteer at a local pregnancy center
  • Recruit more people to join the cause
  • Host pro life events in your community, college campus, and church
  • Ask your pastor to hold a holy hour for an end to abortion on a monthly or weekly basis
  • Ask a pro-life and chastity speaker to attend your next rally or event. Culture Project or Generation Life are definitely great speakers to have.
  • Write letters to your representatives persuading them to put forth life saving bills.
  • Use your gifts and talents for the promotion of the culture of life
  • Most importantly don't be passive. It's better for you to get involved and one day abortion will be no more
  • Use social media to spread the word about pro life events and even post pro-life quotes on your status. Yes, you will lose friends, but remember Jesus Christ had lost some followers and was betrayed by one of his own apostles, so you're in good company.
  • Remember local pro-life groups in between your utility and cell phone bills by giving a donation.
  • Give away unused baby items to a women's shelter for expected mothers.
  • Organize a March for Life in your city

Looking ahead

Across many cities and states there are seats for city council, court, gubernational and even mayor. Do your part today to secure a principled consistent life candidate of character. Fight the power in your community today even if you must be imprisoned.

Sister Grace Dominic headlines 36th Annual Stand Up for Life Dinner

It was a night to remember. The 36th Annual Stand Up for Life Dinner was held on Sunday November 18th with 1200 in attendance.

People of all walks of life from newborn to baby boomers were in attendance to celebrate life. Many groups were represented from local universities like Pennsylvania, Cabrini, Villanova, Temple, Drexel, and Holy Family. There was representation from eleven Catholic high schools in Philadelphia.

Using a joke about a team losing 18-0 in a baseball game, Father Chris Walsh reminds us that there is hope even if we feel defeated in our efforts to save the unborn, poor, elderly, immigrant, victim of war, and even refugee. The dinner in itself is a celebration for all that is accomplishment, especially the thirteen babies saved during the Fall 2018 40 Days Campaign.

Dr. Monique Ruberu
discussing Sidewalk Servants

The even also featured speeches from Dr. Monique Ruberu and Tom Stevens. Ruberu discussed the sidewalk servants and wants everyone to participate in this peaceful loving outreach between now and the next 40 Days Campaign. Stevens told us that the future of the movement is bright and must "feel encouraged to go back into the mission field."

Part of the evening was dedicated to honoring three individuals who exemplified the pro life cause.

The first was Gene Krueger, the recipient of the pro-life pioneer award. He has prayed in front of an abortion facility since 1975 that he would soon help established Helpers of God's Precious Infants in Philadelphia.

"We won't give up, shut up, let up, until we have stayed up,  stored up, prayed up, preached up for the cause of Christ's precious unborn." His words of acceptance.

The second recipient was Martha Short, who received the St. John Paul the Great Be Not Afraid Award. Short was a part of Pennsylvanians for Human Life for more than 20 years going to schools taking about the dignity of the human person. In her acceptance, she shared how an 8th grade teacher invited her to speak to the class. Little did she know the daughter of the teacher was sitting in Martha's midst.

The final award given out was the John and Harriet Stanton Young Leader Award. The recipient of the award is Theresa Dierkes, a student from the University of Pennsylvania and an active member of the Penn Newman Center housed at Sts. Agatha and James around the corner from the now closed Gosnell's House of Horrors.

The final part of the evening was the guest speaker who did not have to come too far. This year Sister Grace Dominic of the Sisters of Life gave a talk. Prior to giving her "yes" to God, she was a journalist and covered St. John Paul the Great.

In her talk, she reflected on the memory of the late Steven McDonald, focusing on love and mercy. He forgave the man who shot and left him quadriplegic while married and awaiting the birth of his son. He kept being a witness to those two virtues even until his death.

Using a story from her time with Visitation Convent in New York, Sister Grace Dominic discussed how a six week pregnant woman was bitter about her pregnancy, yet she postponed her abortion time after time. In time she experienced God that helped her with the advent of her unborn daughter. Love is not afraid of the cross.

She encouraged everyone to engage in deep prayer to defeat the culture of death. We are called to be a people of mercy. We must pick up the pieces broken from the secular culture. We must give God permission to transform hearts with love.

Pro Life Summer Reading List

It is that time of the year where we all go to the beach, the mountains, take a flight to another city, picnic in the middle of nowhere, and going where the roads will lead us.

I have put together a top 10 (plus a few honorable mentions) pro life summer reading list that can help keep promoting and learning from many pro-life heroes of the past while also polishing up on pro-life dialogue and also learning how to defend life form the moment conception until natural death.

1) Persuasive Pro-Life Trent Horn

Published in 2014 and using first hand experience during campus visits, CatholicAnswers.com's own Trent Horn shares first hand some of the dos and don'ts in engaging and challenging pro-choicers' viewpoints.

2) Unplanned Abby Johnson

Once a rising star for Planned Parenthood, Abby Johnson saw firsthand a defenseless life being killed by an ultrasound guided abortion in 2009. She recalled the times she saw volunteers for 40 Days for Life pray in front of her work at Bryan, TX. It would soon lead her to be a pro life advocate and a Catholic convert.

3) Single Candles Brendan Lyons

West Chester, PA native Brendan Lyons writes  a series of narratives form a chain of events that link several characters, all of whom demonstrate compassion and bravery in their commitment to the sanctity of life. In one piece, a senator defies his own political party; in another, a neonatal surgeon is asked to compromise her principles. Although the stories are fictional, the passion that informs the characters’ conviction is very real.

4) Rising with Roses Monique Ruberu

Dr. Monique Ruberu thought she was pro-life until she realized that she was prescribing birth control. Because of the help of many pro-lifers in Philadelphia, she reverted back to her Catholic faith and now promotes Natural Family Planning.

5) A Voice for Victoria: A memoir of healing from post-abortion trauma- Geraldine F Jacobs

A Voice for Victoria shares the author's journey toward understanding how childhood messages and current events played a part in her abortion decision and path to healing from post-abortion trauma through God’s forgiveness.

6) The Future of Assisted Suicide and Euthanasia Neil Gorsuch

Neil Gorsuch thoroughly assesses the strengths and weaknesses of leading contemporary ethical arguments for assisted suicide and euthanasia. He would argue against the legalization of euthanasia and assisted suicie while using Netherlands and Oregon as prime examples.

7) Johnny Got His Gun Dalton Trumbo

This anti-war novel, written in 1938, shares how a WWI solider who wakes up from his hospital bed with no limbs and half destroyed face. After his wishes of showing the country of the horrors of wars, he reflects on the realities and myths of war.

8) All Quiet on the Western Front-  Erich Maria Remarque

A German veteran of WW1 recounts the physical and mental stress while fighting in the war. It also shares  how detach from civilian life they were following the war's end.

9) Racketeer For Life Joe Scheidler

A former monk recalls his early involvement in the pro-life movement. He has debated media personalities, politicians, abortion workers, and even fought the culture of death at the Supreme Court.

10) Gosnell: The Untold Story of America's Most Prolific Serial Killer- Ann McElhinney

Ann McElhinney details everything that happen inside of Kermit Gosnell's house of horrors in the Mantua neighborhood of West Philadelphia. Even advocates on both sides were horrified at the heinous committed by the most notorious serial killer of the abortion industry.

Honorable mention:

Love Unleashes Life Stephanie Gray

Stephanie offers a fresh approach to abortion dialogue. This time reaching the heart and minds of abortion minded people.

You Carried Me: A Daughter's Memoir Melissa Ohden

Melissa Ohden shares first hand how she survived a saline abortion attempt. Learning at the age of fourteen, she went on a journey to search for her biological parents. She would soon have a change of heart.

Bernard Nathanson

Aborting America- shares how he changed his views on abortion.

The Hand of God- Dr. Nathanson hared how he found God and began promoting life after performing 61,000 abortions, including his own son.

40 Days for Life- David Bereit

Started as a small group outside of the Planned Parenthood in Bryan, TX, this life-changing endeavor recalls how it has converted workers, changed hearts, and shut the doors of abortion facilities with prayer, love, and fasting.

Humanae Vitae- Pope Paul VI

Written in 1968 and celebrating 50 years, the encyclical Humanae Vitae is an eye-opening read written by Pope Paul VI as he foretells the repercussions of a society that accepts sexual promiscuity, abortion on-demand, and artificial birth control.

Hard list to put together, for sure. However, there are many pro life books to read such as any written by Scott Klusendorf, Ron Paul, Fr. Frank Pavone, Janet Morena, Janet Smithand so many more.

States Passed More Than 50 Pro-Life Laws in 2017 to Save Babies From Abortion

By Catherine Glenn Foster
Life News

With just one year under his belt, it took an hour and twenty minutes for the president to reflect last week on our nation’s latest milestones in his State of the Union address — the third-longest address in the last 50 years.

And while he did not directly address the critical issue of abortion, a thorough reflection on the state of the pro-life movement is equally warranted. America has lost about 60 million human beings to abortion in the 45 years since Roe v. Wade.

That Supreme Court decision has prompted generations of advocates to work tirelessly over the years in statehouses and on the sidewalks of our communities to defend and advance the cause of life. And for 45 years, whether at the March for Life, on social media, or in conversations with colleagues and friends, everyday people with a deep and abiding sense of justice have shared scientific facts and defended fundamental rights with their fellow Americans.

As a result, some of the latest data indicates that more than 3-in-4 Americans, including 6-in-10 self-identifying pro-choice Americans, support major rollbacks on legal abortion, with restrictions in place at least as of the end of the first trimester.

Sixty percent of the American public opposes taxpayer funding of abortions, and 83 percent oppose supporting abortion in other countries. And millennials are trending towards support for life, with more than half believing abortion should be illegal in most circumstances. This increasingly life-affirming mentality has helped bring America’s abortion rate to historic lows — the lowest rate since Roe v. Wade.

We are likewise at a time of unprecedented momentum in the passage of life-affirming laws. As the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute noted in July 2017, over 30 percent of all such laws have been enacted in the last six years, more than 50 each year since 2011.

Americans United for Life has dedicated much of our time and energy to building on this momentum by providing state legislatures the resources they need with our “pro-life playbook,” “Defending Life.”

The pro-life trend continues as more than 50 life-affirming state bills became law in 2017, including an Alabama law that allows health care providers to follow their consciences in refusing to perform abortions. We now have Arkansas laws both banning abortions that selectively target baby girls and requiring standard medical care for babies born alive during an abortion.
