Pennsylvania Family Institute Calls Out Planned Parenthood

Michael Geer, President
Pennsylvania Family Institute

We called every Planned Parenthood affiliate in PA and asked, "Do you provide prenatal services?" Despite their claims (every affiliate lists "prenatal" on their online appointments page), we discovered that not a single Planned Parenthood in Pennsylvania offers prenatal care.

You may have seen Live Action's national investigation into 41 Planned Parenthood affiliates, reaching out to 97 facilities and finding that only FIVE offered prenatal services. Pennsylvania was not included in their investigation since undercover videos are illegal under state law. So we took it upon ourselves to find out.

If you plan to parent in Pennsylvania, Planned Parenthood chooses not to help. So when their national president Cecile Richards claims that prenatal care is something "folks depend on Planned Parenthood for," it's simply not the case for women in Pennsylvania.

This, despite receiving millions of taxpayer funding every year. Planned Parenthood PA affiliates have received over $21 million in just the last four years. All the while there are over 300 community health centers throughout the state giving comprehensive health care to women.

Here are three ways you can help:

1) Please share this video with your friends on Facebook. And for your friends not on Facebook, please go to pafamily.org/2017/01/PPcallout

2) Read and share our insightful report,Extreme: Planned Parenthood in Pennsylvania.

3) Contact your state and federal officials and ask to redirect your tax dollars away from Planned Parenthood. Click here to use our Citizen Action Center to send them an email.

Planned Parenthood's lack of prenatal care, along with the laundry list of issues detailed in Extreme: Planned Parenthood in PA, make a strong case for why Planned Parenthood is not the best use of limited taxpayer resources for women's health.

Thank you for standing up for life. Your partnership with Pennsylvania Family Institute is helping us confront the lies from Planned Parenthood and lead the way in promoting a culture of life throughout our
Commonwealth.

This Pastor gets to the Root of the Problem with NARAL Super Bowl Tweets

From Pennsylvania Family Institute

Last night, millions of Americans sat with friends and family to enjoy watching the Super Bowl and to laugh at commercials. One pro-choice political group used a few of the commercials to complain and convey its perspective on babies and abortion:

It’s bewildering to see anger behind humanizing a human being, yet it makes perfect sense when we are reminded about the worldview of many who defend abortion. David Platt, at the Evangelicals for Life conference in D.C., the day before the March for Life, gave this reminder:

Senator Casey Votes Against Unborn Life, Religious Liberty

  From Pennsylvania Family Institute
Wednesday was another dispiriting example of how far the apple can fall from the tree.  Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Casey, son of the late pro-life champion Gov. Robert P. Casey, Sr., voted yesterday for a bill designed to undo the Supreme Court's recent decision in Hobby Lobby v. Burwell.  The bill would amend the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which was the basis for the Hobby Lobby decision, and force owners of companies like Lancaster County's Conestoga Wood Specialties to pay for abortifacient drugs that violate their consciences.  Happily, the supporters of the bill did not have the 60 votes needed to move the bill forward.
This is yet another example of the withering "pro-life" credentials of Sen. Casey.  He supported the Affordable Care Act, which places taxpayers on the hook for elective abortions, and which precipitated the current religious liberty fights over contraceptive and abortifacient drugs and procedures.  Furthermore, Sen. Casey failed to support a commonsense, non-binding resolution in the Senate that would have called for investigations in the practices of abortion clinics after revelation of the Kermit Gosnell horrors.  Instead he stood on the sidelines as his radical pro-choice colleagues killed the resolution.
Contact Sen. Casey and ask him to honor the pro-life convictions he has campaigned on, and that have made his family name famous.  You can make the contact easily through our Citizen Action Center,  here.

Pennsylvania Family Institute (PFI) Coordinates Successful Pro-Life Social Media Event

This past Tuesday, Planned Parenthood tried to take over the Capitol and social media with their pro-abortion spin machine. PFI Community Impact Director Dan Bartkowiak led an effort not just to counter Planned Parenthood's efforts, but to turn them around for the cause of life. Here are some statistics:

  • The truth about Planned Parenthood was delivered to Pennsylvania legislators.
  • Hundreds of supporters like you sent messages to their legislators urging them to say NO to Planned Parenthood.
  • On Twitter, pro-life Pennsylvanians took over the #PAWomenDeserveBetter hashtag, spreading the truth about Planned Parenthood. In fact, pro-lifers tweeted almost as much as pro-choicers using Planned Parenthood's own hashtag. Our effort led to Planned Parenthood of Southeast Pennsylvania responding with their misinformation, which PFI staffers and pro-life activists around Pennsylvania exposed.
  • On Facebook, PFI took over the #PAWomenDeserveBetter hashtag, substantially outnumbering pro-abortion commentary.
Thank you for your continued support as we spread the truth about Planned Parenthood.

Former Gov. Ridge Rails Against Pro-Life, Pro-Marriage Advocates

Former PA Governor Tom Ridge was in the news again this past week. What was his accomplishment? He condemned those within the Republican party, including elected officials, who stand up for the sanctity of human life and for marriage as between one man and one woman. That fits right into the narrative of many in the news media and the activist blogs of those pushing to silence the voices within both major political parties who would dare to stand for life and marriage.

His abortion record is clear, and his administration is responsible for ending the inspections that would have saved women's lives in the Gosnell House of Horrors in Philadelphia. He also flip-flopped on redefining marriage this past February, signing on to a court brief with the Supreme Court asking them to overturn the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). As governor, Ridge signed our state DOMA into law in 1996.

Click here to read a transcript of his speech.

Join us and let's pray for Tom Ridge, but also commit to work harder for the values we hold dear, both in our homes and communities, and in the public square.

Dr. Ben Carson is an award-winning pediatric neurosurgeon, New York Times best-selling author, and Presidential Medal of Honor recipient. His inspiring rise from an impoverished single-parent home in downtown Detroit to one of the leading pediatric surgeons and political voices in our nation inspired the 2009 movie Gifted Hands.

Dr. Carson grabbed national headlines after delivering the keynote speech at the National Prayer Breakfast in February of this year. Standing mere feet away from President Barack Obama, Dr. Carson spoke truth to power when he discussed the importance of family, personal responsibility, and the dangers of political correctness.

National Prayer and Fast Day Scheduled for Tuesday April 30, 2013

Pennsylvania Family Institute and members of our Pennsylvania Prayer Network are encouraging you to heed the proclamation of Abraham Lincoln 150 years ago and participate in National Fast Day on Tuesday April 30, 2013.

The Pennsylvania State House recently passed a resolution - led by Representative Rick Saccone - dedicating Tuesday April 30 as a day of prayer and fasting. This resolution points to President Lincoln's proclamation to have citizens dedicate April 30, 1863 to "devoutly recognizing the Supreme Authority and just Government of Almighty God, in all the affairs of men and of nations."

Would you join citizens from Pennsylvania and around the country on April 30th to honor National Fast Day?

Sen. Casey Flips to Political Pressure, Abandons Institution of Marriage

Statement from the Pennsylvania Family Institute
Michael Geer, President

“Until today, Sen. Casey seemed to understand the special, unique nature of marriage – a bond that brings the two halves of humanity –male and female – together in a commitment that best serves the children that likely will result from that bond.

“And so, it’s very troubling to see Sen. Casey respond to special interest pressure on an issue as important as this one.  Those special interests just recently announced their campaign to get him to flip, and it didn’t take very long at all.

“This is so much different than the character and fortitude of his father, Governor Casey – who famously and courageously bucked his party’s embrace of abortion on demand, even to the point of beginning a campaign for President – to stand up for what is right.

“Many supporters of Sen. Casey had hoped for more from him, and today are sadly disappointed especially given that he’s advocating against the position he took when he was voted into office, and against Pennsylvania’s duly-enacted marriage law.
