Pro-Life People Brave the Cold to Joyfully Sing Christmas Carols Outside Abortion Clinics

Pro-lifers will bring joy and light to one of the darkest places in America this winter by singing Christmas carols outside abortion facilities.

The gatherings this year center around the theme “Peace in the Womb,” and are meant to bring hope to mothers and their unborn babies through the celebration of Jesus Christ’s birth.

Eric J. Scheidler, executive director of the Pro-Life Action League, said this is their 16thyear of Christmas caroling outside abortion facilities.

“The message of the Christmas angels is, ‘Be not afraid.’ This is the same message our carolers are sharing with abortion-minded mothers,” Scheidler said. “Whatever fear might be bringing them to the abortion clinic, we want to help, in any way that we can.”

He said the pro-life carolers will be prepared to refer women to pregnancy centers that offer a wide range of free services to help them choose life for their babies.

There are 88 events planned at abortion facilities across America. One already happened at the Planned Parenthood in Columbia, Missouri.

Mike and Kathy Forck, campaign directors for the Columbia 40 Days for Life, said about 20 carolers participated in their Dec. 4 outreach.

“It was a very cold night, but it did not dampen the enthusiasm as Planned Parenthood a couple of clients came and went, a Planned Parenthood escort left early and a good time was had by all the singers,” they said in an email to participants.

Along with singing carols, the Forcks said their group also donated baby diapers and displayed them in an empty manger to symbolize the approximately 77 babies who recently were aborted at the Columbia facility.

“We pray for all of them and hope that Jesus will be able to break through to them and share the peace of the Season and heal their hearts,” the couple said.

Scheidler said they have seven caroling events planned in Chicago alone. Dozens of others are planned in 31 states across the U.S.

“Over the sixteen years that the Pro-Life Action League has coordinated caroling outside of abortion clinics, many women have decided against abortion after hearing the pro-life singers—including nine in 2016 alone,” he said.

City Tries to Stop Pregnancy Center From Saving Babies Next Door to Abortion Clinic

An attempt to stop a pregnancy center from saving lives next door to an abortion clinic is still in the works in Hartford, Conn., following a raucous public meeting that drew an estimated 200 participants from all over the state Monday night.

Following the meeting, Hartford’s city council looks poised to move forward with an ordinance that would force Hartford Women’s Center to post prominent notices indicating “whether or not a licensed medical provider is on premise providing care.” before the end of the year.

While the specific language for the ordinance has yet to be revealed, what’s clear is that it singles out Hartford Women’s Center, a privately funded pro-life pregnancy center that set up a location next door to an abortion business, Hartford GYN, this May.

In response, Hartford GYN, as well as abortion lobbyist group NARAL Pro-Choice America’s state-level chapter—located just one floor above Hartford GYN—have lashed out against their pro-life neighbor, accusing the center of harassing and deceiving clients headed to the abortion business.

Two years before Hartford Women’s Center moved next door, NARAL made identical claims about all 50-plus pregnancy centers throughout Connecticut in a “report” that included the word “deception” 21 times in just 30 pages. Backed by rabidly pro-abortion U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal, the hit piece was later used to introduce legislation at the state house in early 2017.

While that legislative attempt failed, the latest move from the abortion lobby is just more of the same, said Hartford Women’s Center executive director Leticia Velasquez.

“We’re offering free help to pregnant women,” Velasquez told a local Fox reporter. “I don’t see why there’s deception.”

In an interview with the Hartford Courant, Velasquez noted that fact city officials haven’t visited her clinic or made an attempt to learn more about them.

“We would welcome the council to come and visit the clinic to see what we do,” she said. “It seems they’ve picked only one side.”

With his city on the brink of bankruptcy, Mayor Luke Bronin is picking a particularly precarious time to try and force a pregnancy center to speak a government message meant to steer their own clients away from their services.

Hartford is on the verge of declaring bankruptcy, and previous attempts to force pro-lifers to post similar signage have cost local taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars in Maryland and New York City.

This Little Girl is Alive Today Because Pro-Life People Were Outside the Abortion Clinic

Yesterday, a mother’s testimony of how she was helped by pro-life counsellors outside an abortion clinic was read out in Parliament. Sir Edward Leigh, Conservative MP for Gainsborough, delivered the testimony of “Kate”, during a debate led by Rupa Huq MP on public order legislation outside “family planning clinics”.

Since the decision by Ealing council to try and impose a public spaces protection order (PSPO) around the Marie Stopes centre in Mattock Lane, Dr Huq has been campaigning for nationwide legislation, claiming that pro-life groups outside abortion clinics “harass” women. However, the testimony from “Kate” illustrates how untrue these assertions are, and how vital it is that women are allowed access to alternative choices. 

I Leapt Out of the Window

“I never wanted to go through with an abortion but I felt a lot of pressure from people around me who offered it as a no brainer solution,” the testimony began. “On the way into the clinic at the Marie Stopes clinic at Ealing I was offered a leaflet by a woman who I spoke to briefly. She just told me she was there if I needed her.”

Still not happy with being there for an abortion, Kate “leapt out of the ground floor window and cleared 3 fences to escape. I talked to the woman on the gate again, who offered any support I needed to keep my baby and this gave me the confidence to leave where I was supported by the group that this women worked with.”

What Would Women Like Me Do?

She didn’t find any aggression from the pro-lifers outside the clinic, but was given help to keep her daughter. Her story ended with a powerful message to MPs: 

“The potential introduction of buffer zones is a really bad idea because women like me, what would they do then? You know, not every woman that walks into those clinics actually wants to go through with the termination. There’s immense pressure, maybe they don’t have financial means to support themselves or their baby, or they feel like there’s no alternatives. These people offer alternatives."

“I had my baby who is now three and a half years old. She’s an amazing, perfect little girl and the love of my life. I want MPs here today calling to introduce buffer zones to realise, that she would not be alive today, if they had their way.”

Sir Edward Leigh spoke to offer a different perspective to that offered by Rupa Huq, who compared the pro-life groups outside Ealing to the “talk all over the media about the harassment of women in Westminster.”

Abortion Clinic “Incentivized” Staff to Sell Abortions With Performance Bonuses for More Babies Killed

Marie Stopes International, one of the largest abortion chains in the world, reportedly gave its staff incentives to encourage women to abort their unborn babies.

A new watchdog report from the Care Quality Commission found the British-based abortion chain allegedly offered bonuses to staff who urged women to go through with an abortion, Kent Online reports.

The new allegations are just one of numerous problems uncovered at Marie Stopes. In 2016, the British government partially shut down the abortion chain after inspectors found egregious health and safety violations. However, it lifted the ban several months later after Marie Stopes leaders promised that they were correcting the problems.

Now, the new CQC report indicates even more problems at the Marie Stopes International Maidstone Centre in England.

Staff said they were encouraged to follow up with women who chose life for their unborn babies and ask them to reconsider, the inspectors found. These women were identified as “Did not proceed,” according to the report.

Abortion clinic staff said they though their ability to persuade these women to have abortions affected their bonuses.

According to the local news:

Investigators also found evidence of a company policy encouraging staff at all 70 clinics to contact so-called ‘do not proceeds’ (DNP) to offer them a later appointment.

The inspection was carried out in May 2016 but the report was only published this month.

Staff referred to the Maidstone centre feeling like a cattle market with one describing it ‘feeling like a hamster in a wheel’.

The watchdog concluded staff showed limited empathy for how patients might be feeling and that support from a partner, friend or parent was discouraged. People who came along to support clients were asked to leave while the procedure took place.

The report states:

“Staff were concerned that ‘Did Not Proceed’, the term used when women decided not to proceed with treatment, was … linked to their performance bonus."

“They felt that this encouraged staff to ensure that patients underwent procedures.”
