Missouri House Passes Bill Requiring Parental Notification Before a Teen Can Get an Abortion

By Micaiah Bilger
Life News

Missouri House lawmakers gave their final approval of a bill to require that both parents be involved when their underage daughter wants to abort an unborn baby.

State House Bill 1383 passed in a 113-37 vote on Monday, and now moves to the state Senate for consideration, Missourinet reports.

While the state currently requires that one parent consent to a minor’s abortion, it does not require that both parents be informed of the decision. The legislation would change that.

The bill would require that both parents who have custody of a girl under age 18 be notified in writing of the girl’s plans to abort her unborn baby. Exceptions would be allowed if a parent has been convicted of a sexual offense or if they cannot be located.

Missouri Right to Life testified in support of the bill in January: “Parents have a protectable interest in the life, health and well-being of their child. Abortion has multiple risks and all parents should be informed of an impending abortion on their child. In today’s times when young people, still under age and on their parents insurance, are pulled many different directions by family issues, parental notification is essential to all parents in the protection of their child’s health.”

State lawmakers considered similar bills in the past several years.

Parental involvement laws have strong public support. According to a 2009 Pew Research Poll, “Even among those who say abortion should be legal in most or all cases, 71 percent favor requiring parental consent” before girls under 18 have abortions. A 2011 Gallup poll also found 71 percent of Americans favor such laws.

Mother Refuses Abortion for One of Her Triplets: ‘He Was in Me and He Was Safe’

By Kelli
National Right to Life

Tracey Kirby was shocked and excited when she learned she was pregnant with three boys – one singleton and a set of twins. But at 18-19 weeks, doctors found that the twins had twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, in which the blood vessels of the twins’ shared placenta are connected, resulting in one twin receiving too much blood and the other not receiving enough.

Doctors suggested a “selective reduction,” but Tracey and husband Paul were adamantly against it. Tracey told the UK’s Mirror, “The idea of selective reduction [terminating one or more fetuses in the pregnancy] was discussed, but it just wasn’t something I was willing to do. I just thought ‘I’m going to do the best I can for the three of them’.” She added that a selective reduction would have also put her at greater risk for miscarrying all three boys.

Even though Tracey’s pregnancy was a highly unusual circumstance, it is not uncommon for doctors to suggest selective reduction in pregnancies with multiples. Live Action News’ Rebecca Downs described the disturbing procedure in a previous article:

The method used by Dr. Mark I. Evans involves targeting one or more of the preborn children and inserting a needle of potassium chloride into his or her heart. Sometimes the babies move before succumbing to death and get the first needle in an arm or a leg, but once the needle enters a baby’s heart, it is fatal. The idea has alarmingly become a trend over the past few years.

Instead, Tracey had an ablation surgery — which “involves putting a needle and camera into the mum’s womb, and using a laser to seal off the connecting blood vessels in the shared placenta” — in an attempt to remediate the twins’ condition, and during the procedure all the triplets were visible.

Tracey told the Mirror of the twins, “… you could see their little finger nails and they both had blond hair.”

Sadly, the surgery was unsuccessful and the twin receiving too much blood passed away in the womb at approximately 25 weeks. “It was just such a complete shock. They said he’d probably had a cardiac arrest with all that extra blood pumping into his body,” Tracey told the Mirror. His parents named him Cayden (“little fighter” in Celtic), chosen because “he carried on fighting until his little heart gave up.”

Tracey carried all three boys for seven more weeks. “I knew [Cayden] was in there and with his brothers and I just wanted to keep things that way,” Tracey told the Mirror. “I saw a bereavement specialist and we started discussing the funeral.”

“Those seven weeks I had him in my tummy and I treasured that. I knew once they were born he would be gone. I liked that he was in me and he was safe. For the rest of my pregnancy I could talk to all three of them and I was happy they were all together,” she said.
Brothers Henry and James came into the world alive at 32 weeks. James was 3 pounds, 6 ounces, and Henry (the surviving twin) weighed just 1 pound, 8 ounces.

In the video above, Tracey speaks about receiving bereavement support after the loss of little Cayden. However, she’s reminded of the loss every time someone refers to the boys as “twins.” She told the Mirror, “… [I]t still hits me when people call the boys twins – they’ll always be triplets…. there isn’t a day goes by where we don’t think about Cayden.”

Doctors Credit Preborn Baby with Sending Mother’s Lyme Disease into Remission

By Nancy Flanders
Live Action News

Expectant mother Celeste Clancy announced recently that pregnancy has cured her Lyme Disease, a bacterial infection that left her in debilitating pain. Clancy, from Georgia, picked up Lyme Disease in 2014 on a trip to Connecticut where the ticks that carry the disease are prominent. She visited countless doctors when she became ill, but none could provide a proper diagnosis. It was her fifth chiropractor who suspected Lyme Disease.

Lyme disease is a tick-borne illness that causes a rash, flu-like symptoms, joint pain, and neurological problems. Clancy contracted the bacterial infection two years ago, and it had progressed to the point where she was unable to walk or control body tremors and muscle spasms. She frequently became disoriented and medication didn’t help improve her condition.

Then suddenly, in December 2016, Clancy’s symptoms vanished. A few weeks later she discovered she was pregnant. Doctors believe that her relief is thanks to her pregnancy hormones.

“I had symptoms ranging from tinnitus, fleeting hearing loss, chronic pain, muscle spasms, brain fog, chronic fatigue, the inability to sound two syllable words and more,” she told The Daily Mail. “I went from being very ill, where I was in so much pain I couldn’t walk and had to crawl up the stairs, it got to a point where my body seemed worthless. The pain was just torturous, you’re in so much pain you can’t calm down it just hurts so bad, some of the worst phases can last for up to four hours.”

When her symptoms stopped, Clancy said she just sat with her husband and cried tears of relief because for the first time in two years she was free from pain. She didn’t know why the pain had stopped and she didn’t think she was pregnant because she had been taking birth control. But it turned out, it was her unplanned baby who saved her health.
“It’s believed that pregnancy hormones somehow halt the bacteria in my body and since then I’ve not suffered from one single symptom of Lyme Disease,” she said. […] So to think this little baby who I haven’t met yet is giving me the relief I longed for is incredible, I totally feel like this baby has saved my life.”

Pregnant and Addicted to Drugs? You Have Better Choices than Abortion

By Gemma Newsam
Live Action News

America is in the grip of an opioid epidemic, with drug overdose now killing one person every ten minutes across the country. The most recent statistics published in The Economist show that the epidemic is worsening, with more individuals addicted to opioids than ever before. As a result, the number of women who are suffering from an addiction to drugs or alcohol and becoming pregnant is also increasing year on year.

The face of the female drug addict has changed considerably in the past decade: more and more opioid addicts are coming from the middle classes, living comfortable lives in the suburbs.

Dealing with an unwanted pregnancy when you are also in the grips of an addiction can be difficult, and many people may suggest abortion as an “easy” solution. However, abortion is not the right option for these women, whose addictions make them more prone to depression, cancer and anxiety as a result of the emotional distress that abortion can so often cause.  The pregnant addict has better choices. Here’s why:

Women Can Find Support in the Pro-Life Movement

Pro-lifers are often presented by abortion advocates as individuals who care more about the lives of babies in the womb than they do about the lives of the women and children involved in these situations once the baby in question has been born.

However, as a recent op-ed in The Source newspaper shows, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Women experiencing unplanned pregnancies while struggling with addictions or any other lifestyle issues that they feel are incompatible with parenthood can find help from pro-life organizations. These groups can help with food, housing, clothing, education, baby supplies, and other financial and emotional needs, outside of the welfare system.

Writer Reflects on “What Being a Mother Taught Me About Abortion”

“Not only had my understanding of life’s sanctity deepened, the empathy I had for others who faced pregnancy with less support than I had been blessed with and surrounded by had grown. “

Whether a child is planned or not, the sweat, blood, tears, challenges and undeniable beauties of parenting are often uncharted waters for all of us.

In a recent article in The Federalist, Kimberly Ross shares how her pro-life views deepened with the birth of her first child, further revealing for her the beauty and sanctity of human life despite the challenges of parenting.
“It’s one thing to be staunchly pro-life while never having been a parent or pregnant,” Ross writes. “It’s another thing entirely to go through the experience of being with child and becoming a parent yourself, and emerge from that strange and wonderful journey with the exact same level of conviction as before.”
Ross reflects on the “culture of death” that is sadly ascending to supremacy in America, including weekly reports of terrorism, the 3,000 abortions that occur each day in this country and euthanasia.
Reverend Billy Graham recently expressed similar sentiments on CNSnews.com: “The euthanasia movement – disguised now as ‘death with dignity’ – is gaining ground in a number of states. And for every 1,000 live births in the United States, 219 pregnancies end with a murdered child, through abortion.”
In further illustrating America’s fixation with death, the article elaborates that 17 million people skipped Sunday night football to watch a season premiere of “The Walking Dead,” a graphic zombie show. A few weeks later, 15 million people tuned out the Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs match-up, preferring to watch zombies eating people instead.

Ross also contemplates the financial and emotional aspects of raising children.

“If we look at things honestly, a vast majority of the reasons given for terminating a pregnancy are things normal to most pregnancies,” she writes. “As my older brother told me years ago, ‘if you wait until you’re financially able to have a kid… you’ll never have kids.’”

Abortion Is Murder

20/20 HeinzSight

Is Abortion premeditated Murder?

You decide based on the following information

We have all heard and watched many trials where a pregnant woman was killed, thereby killing her infant/embryo/fetus she was carrying.
The person that killed her, was put on trial for a double Homicide.

Using the above information and the following, you decide if abortion is premeditated murder.

Full Definition of PREMEDITATED
: characterized by fully conscious willful intent and a measure of forethought and planning <premeditated murder>
— pre·med·i·tat·ed·ly adverb

Full Definition of MURDER
1: the crime of unlawfully killing a person especially with malice aforethought

Full Definition of ABORTION
1: the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus: as
a : spontaneous expulsion of a human fetus during the first 12 weeks of gestation — compare miscarriage
b : induced expulsion of a human fetus

So what is your answer?

Why should either baby, who's life has been terminated, bring punishment to one, but not to the many who help bring about the death of the other?
