Pro-Abortion Democrat Leader Nancy Pelosi Claims, “I Am a Practicing Catholic”

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi continued to tout herself as a devout Catholic on Thursday, despite her long record of supporting abortion on demand.

During a press meeting Thursday, the California Democrat answered questions about the sexual abuse scandal within the Catholic church, CNS News reports.

In response, Pelosi repeatedly emphasized her devotion to her Catholic faith.

“Well, as a practicing Catholic, I feel great sadness for what has happened in the church,” Pelosi said. “I feel sadness for what it means to the church writ large, but more sad about what it means to the individuals who have been abused, and that they should be respected, protected, and that we have to get to the bottom of it.”

Later she continued: “I’ve seen friends who had most devotion to the church be the most disappointed in it. But I think we have to stay strong because we are, in our view, the Eucharist, the body of Christ, we are all part of the church. And if we have some cancerous elements there, we have to remove all doubt, again, that that will not be how we proceed. It’s very sad.

“It’s a very interesting time and I’ve tried to encourage people to be prayerful within the church and we’ll make a judgment when we see what comes,” Pelosi said. “I’m hopeful that what His Holiness is calling for will have the results that hopefully it is intended to do.”

Her sympathy for the abuse victims and calls for justice are what they should be. Yet, Pelosi continues to ignore another marginalized group that her faith teaches must be protected: babies in the womb.

Pelosi has a strong pro-abortion voting record. In 2013, she put her foot in her mouth during a press conference, calling the battle to keep late-term abortions legal “sacred ground.” Then, earlier this year, she criticized pro-life pregnancy centers, calling them “anti-choice” efforts to “deceive and prey on vulnerable women.”

In January 2017, just before the annual March for Life, Pelosi blasted pro-life Republicans, saying, “They pray in church on Sunday, and prey on everyone the rest of the week.”

Her stance on abortion is in opposition to her faith’s teachings. It also radical in most Americans’ eyes. Polls consistently show that most Americans oppose most abortions. Just a slim percent of Americans want abortion to be legal up until birth, and very few want their tax dollars to pay for abortions.

Nancy Pelosi Won’t Say Aborting a Baby With Beating Heart “Dishonors God”

CNS News put pro-abortion House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi on the spot this week, asking her if aborting an unborn baby with a beating heart dishonors God.

Pelosi, a Democrat who claims to be a practicing Catholic, strongly supports abortion. Going against her faith, Pelosi repeatedly has voted to support the abortion chain Planned Parenthood and oppose regulations and limits to abortion.

Interestingly, Pelosi often brings up her faith to explain her support for other issues, such as the environment and welfare. Last week, she mentioned honoring God when she opposed a decision by the U.S. to pull out of the Paris Accord on climate change.

On Thursday during Pelosi’s press briefing, the conservative news outlet decided to find out if she would respond similarly when confronted with the reality of abortion. Perhaps unsurprisingly, she dodged the question.

Here’s Pelosi’s response:

CNSNews.com: “Three weeks ago you said we need to be ‘responsible stewards’ of ‘God’s creation.'”

Pelosi: Yes.

CNSNews.com: “And that it dishonors God to pull out of the Paris Accord.”

Pelosi: “Yes.”

CNSnews.com: “The Heartbeat Protection Act would prohibit aborting a baby with a heartbeat. Does it dishonor God to abort a baby with a beating heart?”

Pelosi did not answer the question directly but said: “I don’t—obviously you want to get into that discussion. What I say is: I completely respect a woman’s right to choose. I am a mother of five children, nine grandchildren. …

Pelosi continued: “I come from a very strong Italian Catholic family and many of my friends and family members do not share my view. But it is my view that it is up to a woman to have her own right to choose the size and timing of her family. God gives us a free will and holds us responsible and accountable for our actions.”

Pelosi and the Pretence That There is Room for Pro-Lifers in the Democratic Party

It is unfair on many grounds to expect pro-abortion House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Ca.) to offer a cogent, or even coherent, explanation of her position on abortion. She’s been at this a long time, so when the topic comes up she reflexively touts her Catholicism and the fact that she had five children in six years, and then floats (usually unchallenged) into a logjam of head scratching non sequiturs.

She gave an interview to assorted reporters at the Washington Post yesterday. Unfortunately the video the Post posted online not only jumps around, it also only touches on some of the issues the news stories address.

So taken together, let’s see what sense we can make of the video and the stories.

First, we are to believe that with regard to abortion, “This is the Democratic Party. This is not a rubber-stamp party.” Pelosi talked about her extended family which includes members who are not pro-choice. “You think I’m kicking them out of the Democratic Party?” As if that had anything to do with anything.

Does that mean that a pro-lifer could “get the nomination” [presumably a reference to a pro-lifer being endorsed for any office]? Well, Pelosi responds, “I don’t think so. It depends on where you are talking about.” Hmmm. Hold that thought.

Second, referring again to abortion, “It’s kind of fading as an issue. It really is.” Later, when a reporter asks her to “clarify,” Pelosi says yes, she is talking about the Democratic Party. “I don’t think you’ll see many candidates going out there and saying ‘I am running as a prolife candidate.’”

[That’s when she told reporters, “But let’s not spend too much time on this,” switching to her five children in six years response and how could anybody say anything to her about abortion with that track record.]

Third, immediately after she said the abortion issue was fading among Democrats, Pelosi remarked, “It’s not fading in the hearts and minds of the people who are that way.” (“That way”?)

Warming to the topic, Pelosi then riffs about what did in Democrats/Hillary Clinton in 2016.

That’s why, you know what? That’s why Donald Trump is president of the United States — the evangelicals and the Catholics, anti-marriage equality [slaps her hand on the table], anti-choice [slaps her hand on the table again]. That’s how he got to be president.

Pro-Abortion Nancy Pelosi: “What You Have Done for the Least of My Brethren You Did for Me”

U.S. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi often uses religious terminology to defend her political positions on abortion, welfare and other issues.

A strong abortion advocate, the California Congresswoman once called her support of late-term abortions “sacred ground.”

On Sunday, she used a quote from Jesus in the Bible to describe born children as “the least of my brethren” and to call for more government funding of programs to help them. Pelosi did not mention abortion in her speech, but it’s clear from her record that she does not care about the millions of unborn babies who are dying brutal abortion deaths every year.

The Washington Free Beacon reports Pelosi made the remarks during a political rally about child poverty on Sunday in Los Angeles.

“I didn’t know this until recently, that when the Gospel of Matthew, ‘what you have done for the least of my brethren, you did for me,’ was something that Christ said in Holy Week, Tuesday of Holy Week,” Pelosi said. “So as we go into Holy Week, as we’re people of faith, people of morals, of morality, let us understand what that challenge is on this Palm Sunday to do the Lord’s work.”

She continued: “It is a fact in not only our Catholic faith, our Christian faith, but in all religions, that when we minister to the needs of God’s creation, that is an act of worship. To ignore those needs is to dishonor the God who made us. So if these people of such faith in our country truly are and in our state, they will recognize our obligation to our children.”

The “least of my brethren” teaching is about taking care of the most vulnerable members of society, a value that Pelosi strays from in her unrelenting support of abortion on demand. Nearly 1 million unborn babies are killed in abortions every year in the United States, making them some of the most vulnerable members of society today.

Nancy Pelosi Tells Adopted Woman: Your Mom Should Have Had the “Choice” to Abort You

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has made some pretty outrageous statements about abortion in the past.

During a recent CNN Town Hall event, Pelosi stuck her foot in her mouth again when she told a young woman who was adopted that her mother should have had the “choice” to abort her.

“I am part of the pro-life generation,” college student Brianna Kristyn Roberts told Pelosi. “I believe that abortion is not the answer for unplanned pregnancy.

“My birth mother was faced with a decision that many women today are facing. Without the means of properly raising a child, she chose the most ethical decision and chose adoption. With her courageous and unselfish decision, I now have the ability to thrive and succeed in life.

“Don’t you think everyone needs the ability to thrive and succeed in life?”

PJ Media had this to say about Pelosi’s answer:

The congresswoman stumbled through a series of explanations, saying that this girl’s mother actually embodied the pro-choice paradigm: “We want other people to have, have that — have that opportunity. To choose as well.”

“You said my mother chose, my mother chose. And we want other people to have … that opportunity to choose as well,” Pelosi told the young woman.

Of course, Pelosi never explained what that “choice” could have meant for Roberts. If her mother had chosen a different path, one that Pelosi supports, the young woman could have experienced an early, brutal and possibly painful abortion death. That “choice” would have taken away Roberts’ chance to live and thrive.

Pelosi said she wants every child to have the ability to succeed, but to the pro-abortion Congresswoman, only born children count.

Nancy Pelosi Trashes Pro-Life People: “They Pray on Sunday and Prey on People the Rest of the Week”

The Democratic Party has problems.
Ever since Democrats suffered major, unexpected losses in the November election, political commentators have been speculating about why. One of the biggest reasons pointed to is the party’s disconnect with rural, religious and pro-life voters.

On Friday, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough broached the topic with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

“How do they reconnect with a middle America who feels like [Democrats] look down on them?” Scarborough asked.

Pelosi emphasized that Democrats are people of faith, but she said they may need to work harder to make that clear. Later in the interview, Pelosi accused Republicans, who by and large are pro-life, of “exploiting” their religious beliefs for political gain, and claimed that their actions do not line up with their beliefs.

“They pray in church on Sunday, and prey on everyone the rest of the week,” Pelosi said. “And while we’re doing the Lord’s work by ministering to the needs of God’s creation, they are ignoring those needs, which is to dishonor the God who made them.”

Later, she added, “We don’t exploit that because we don’t think we’re supposed to, but maybe we have to make it clear.”

As a pro-abortion politician and a self-described Catholic, Pelosi arguably has done the exact opposite. On the abortion issue, she has voted repeatedly against her faith’s teachings about the value of human life, beginning in the womb.

Nancy Pelosi Admitted Something We All Know: To be Pro-Abortion is Anti-God

Sometimes the mask comes off, and people are just honest about what they really think. Nancy Pelosi, the House Minority Leader, had one of those moments last week, when she talked about “the three G’s,” comments that are now circulating around the internet.

During the Democratic National Convention, Judy Woodruff was interviewing the former Speaker of the House for the PBS Newshour (7/26/16), and Pelosi made some remarks about “non-college-educated white males” who vote Republican.

According to Pelosi they “voted against their own economic interests”—I disagree with her. I think the opposite is true. The policies of the Democratic Party have been disastrous for our recovery.

But Pelosi went on to say the reason they vote this way are “because of guns, because of gays, and because of God. The three ‘Gs,’ God being the woman’s right to choose.”

Well, there it is. Pelosi said something we all instinctively know: To be pro-abortion is anti-God.

It’s interesting that when the Supreme Court imposed abortion on this country on all 50 states by judicial fiat on January 22, 1973 in Roe v. Wade, they did appeal to religion in the decision. They appealed to ancient Greek and Roman religion. But they decidedly by-passed the Christian faith.

And rightly so, because Christianity has always stood against abortion. Even from the beginning of the faith to the present, the greatest opposition to the abortion ethic has been the church.
