Dems Push USAID Administrator to Recoup Funds for International Abortion Groups

by Lisa Correnti
Center for Family & Human Rights (C-Fam)

WASHINGTON DC, May 4 (C-Fam) Abortion proponents in the U.S. Congress, who were rattled by the Trump administration’s pro-life stand at recent UN negotiations, grilled the top U.S. aid administrator last week and attempted to obstruct the policy using procedural rules.

Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, and Congresswomen Nita Lowey and Barbara Lee tried to challenge the implementation of Protecting Life in Global Health Assistance (PLGHA) policy by making procedural claims that PLGHA is a “rule” and as such is subject to the Congressional Review Act. The Government Accounting Office rejected the claim this week, stipulating that President Trump’s reinstatement of the Mexico City Policy was an executive action by previous presidents and “Federal courts have held that agencies’ implementation of presidential policy-making does not constitute a rule.”

Last week, the same Members of Congress took USAID administrator Mark Green to task when he appeared before Senate and House committees explaining the processes for a leaner budget for development and diplomacy and defending President Trump’s overseas pro-life policies.

Canada to Drive Abortion Agenda at Upcoming G7 Meeting

Abortion Advocates Bank on Canada and G-7

By Rebecca Oas, Ph.D
Center for Family & Human Rights

WASHINGTON, D.C. April 6 (C-Fam) A year before the election of President Donald Trump signaled a shift in U.S. foreign policy to a pro-life position, Canada underwent a shift of its own, in the opposite direction. Since Justin Trudeau became Prime Minister, Canada has followed Sweden in declaring a “feminist” foreign policy. Disgruntled by current U.S. policy, abortion advocates have turned north to Canada – and the upcoming G-7 Summit – for leadership and a way forward.

Canada’s pervious prime minister, Stephen Harper, launched the Muskoka Initiative on Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health in 2010 at the 36th G8 summit. The global health community welcomed the initiative because it pledged $5 billion from G8 countries toward meeting the maternal and child health UN Millennium Development Goals. It also drew both praise and criticism for the fact that it did not include abortion.

Eight years later, as Canada once again prepares to host the G-7 summit, Canada has seen a sea change. When President Trump reinstated the Mexico City Policy early last year, Canada pledged $20 million to the European-led “She Decides” campaign launched in direct opposition to the U.S. policy, barring funding to abortion groups. Speaking at a recent conference at McGill University, Canadian international development minister Marie-Claude Bibeau announced a further three-year commitment to “improve women’s access to comprehensive sexuality education, contraception, family planning, safe and legal abortions, and post-abortion care.”

Human Rights Groups Thank U.S. for Rolling Back Abortion in Impending Report

By Austin Ruse
Center for Family and Human Rights

WASHINGTON DC, March 9 (C-Fam) A coalition of 197 groups from around the world have sent a letter to U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson thanking him for expected changes in the annual State Department report on human rights.

The letter thanks Tillerson “…for supporting a proper understanding of international human rights in the forthcoming State Department’s annual Human Rights Report. By rejecting attempts to include abortion and other contentious issues, which are not universally agreed-upon human rights, you are returning the United States to its leadership role in promoting the right to life and protecting the family.”

How Abortion Pills Upend the Politics and Practice of Abortion

by Rebecca Oas, Ph.D.
Center for Family and Human Rights (C-Fam)

NEW YORK, January 12 (C-Fam) Since the dawn of the abortion movement, activists insisted that abortion should be solely the concern of a woman and her doctor. But as the method of abortion worldwide has shifted from surgery to medication, abortion advocates are increasingly regarding the doctor as unnecessary—and, in some cases, counterproductive.

UN Global Tax Will Fund Global Abortion

by Austin Ruse
President/C-Fam
Publisher/Friday Fax

UN Radicals Want Your Money…
UN Radicals Want an Unchecked Revenue Stream…
This is a Profound Danger to the Unborn Child, the Family and to Democracy

A new report issued by a UN panel makes clear something I have worried about for years.

The panel is informing the World Humanitarian Summit meeting in Istanbul this May. The global tax was on their agenda. It was part of their secret negotiations! And though it was blocked there, I fully expect the Global Tax will come up at the Summit in May.

This is not the first time such an atrocity has been suggested. A 2011 UN Development Program report made an overt call for a Global UN Tax. In fact, the number two bureaucrats at the UN Development Program is on YouTube making the case for a Global UN Tax.

Such an abomination has been on the agenda of global radicals for decades. Why? Because they want their own money. They do not want to have to rely on voluntary contributions from governments. At least governments can put pressure on the UN to curb their radicalism. At least with government contributions, we as taxpayers can have a say.

But if the UN has its own independent revenue stream, their radicalism will be unchecked.

What is this tax proposal?

They propose taxing your airline tickets. They propose taxing you any time you change money for foreign travel. They propose to tax large banks when they make foreign financial transactions. Such a cost will undoubtedly be passed along to you, not to mention it will harm the already limping global economy.

What will they do with billions in taxes raised on you?

Continue with impunity to advance a global right to abortion, something the Secretary General wants to impose even on Christian countries where abortion is against the law!

I have to tell you that no one is watching this except for C-Fam and the Friday Fax. No one is proposing to do anything about this except C-Fam and the Friday Fax. We were the first to spot this.

Will you join us in blocking this truly frightening Global Tax to kill unborn children?

This will be a fight that will last months and even years. We are prepared to thrown all our resources into this fight.

How will we fight back?
  • First, we are launching a global petition that will be delivered to the press, UN diplomats, Congressmen in this country and around the world, and even UN bureaucrats. We will let them know that hundreds of thousands of people from around the world are appalled at this idea.
  • Second, I am sending two C-Fam staffers to the World Humanitarian Summit. They will monitor the situation and plead our case to the diplomats who attend. We are told the UN is already blocking most groups from attending. Don’t worry. We’ll go anyway.
  • Third, we intend to send millions of emails in four languages all over the world warning regular people about this emergency.

This will be very expensive and I come to you once more for help.
  • First please pray for us, every day if you can.
  • Second, when you get the petition from us in the coming weeks, please sign and send to all your friends and family.
  • Third, please go to our website by clicking on the image below and contribute to this truly frightening fight.

If the UN gets an independent revenue stream, unborn babies will die, the family will come under even greater pressure, and the homosexual agenda will be imposed even on Christian countries.

Don’t wait, please click on the button above and give as much as you can.  Please go there now and help us stop this atrocity.

“The Obsolescence of Customary International Law”

By Susan Yoshihara, Ph.D.
Center for Family and Human Rights

“A verbal contract is not worth the paper it is printed on,” quipped film producer Samuel Goldwyn. The study’s author, Fletcher School professor Joel Trachtman says the aphorism sums up the reason nations have moved beyond the 300 year-old ethic of customary law that evolves over many years of practice but isn’t negotiated or necessarily consented to.

Of the 300 customary laws the study identified, only 13 had not been codified in treaties. In an era in which nations don’t just have to coexist but must cooperate in a complex global economy, treaty law’s specificity is preferred. It is more legitimate in the age of democratic governments, Tracthman notes, and it is more practicable than ever at a time when delegates can easily travel to negotiations and international conferences.

Tractman notes that some legal experts today promote the idea of “instantaneous customary law” which is based upon non-binding UN General Assembly resolutions. But he argues that such claims are inconsequential since nations no longer rely custom except in widely accepted cases such as the right of warships in distress to enter a port and the duty of combatants to disobey unlawful orders.
