Mike Pence Leads Presidential Poll of Republican Voters Looking at Possible 2020 Primary

By Steven Ertelt
Life News

Some pro-life voters are already tired of the 2016 presidential election. Whether it’s the acrimony from the Republican primary or the lack of enthusiasm for the eventual nominee, some pro-life voters just want it to be done.

For those pro-life voters who are already looking forward to 2020, assuming Donald Trump loses to pro-abortion Hillary Clinton and isn’t running for re-election, a new poll has been released taking a look at potential presidential candidates for that potential primary.

Not surprisingly, all of the candidates surveyed are Republicans who participated in this year’s primary election process.

With that in mind, the new poll shows pro-life Vice Presidential nominee Mike Pence leads the way with the most support from Republican voters looking at a preview of the 2020 Republican primary election. Pence’s excellent showing in Tuesday night’s vice presidential debate likely played a role in boosting his numbers.

Mike Pence Takes Solid Pro-Life Stance in VP Debate: “Society Judged by How it Defends It’s Vulnerable”

During tonight’s vice presidential debate, pro-life Indiana Governor Mike Pence took a solid pro-life view articulating the case that society will be judged by how it defends its most vulnerable persons — including unborn children the disabled and the elderly.

Borrowing a quote from Mother Teresa, Governor Pence said that we ought to “welcome children into the world.”
“I would tell you — the sanctity of life proceeds out of the belief that ancient principle where God says before you were formed in the womb I knew you, and so for my first time in public life, I sought to stand with great compassion for the sanctity of life,” Pence said during the debate. “Society will be judged by how it defends its most vulnerable – the aged, the infirm, the disabled, and the unborn.”

“The state of Indiana is also — sought to make sure we expand alternatives and healthcare counseling for women — non- abortion alternatives. I’m also pleased with the fact we are well on our way in Indiana to becoming most pro- adoption state in America. I think you’ll be pro-life you should be pro- adoption,” Pence continued.

“People need to understand — we can come together as a nation. We can create a culture of life — more and more young people today are embracing life because we know we are — better for it. Like Mother Teresa said — bring — let’s welcome the children into the world. There are so many families around the country who cannot have children,” the governor added. A society can be its most vulnerable — the agent the firm the disabled and the unborn. I believe it with all of my heart.”

The governor also said he was proud to share the same ticket as Donald Trump, who is campaigning as a pro-life advocate and who has said he would appoint the kind of judges pro-life voters want to see and has committed to signing a bill to defund Planned Parenthood.
“I couldn’t be more proud to stand with Donald Trump who is standing for the right to life,” Pence said.

Mike Pence: “There is No More Important Cause for My Wife and Me Than the Cause of Life”

By Michiah Bilger
Life News

Donald Trump’s vice presidential pick Mike Pence is pro-life both in word and action.

The Republican governor from Indiana has made a number of encouraging pro-life statements on the campaign trail, and his long, extensive pro-life record both as governor and a U.S. Congressman is strong evidence of his sincerity.

This week, Pence told an Arizona crowd that the “cause of life” is the most important issue of all to his family. He made the statement during an event Thursday at Living Word Bible Church in Mesa, near Phoenix, Arizona, according AZ Central.

Here’s more from the report:

During a question-and-answer session with Tom Anderson, Living Word Bible Church’s founder, Pence highlighted the Republican ticket’s anti-abortion bona fides.

“I speak on behalf of my wife and I, I would tell you there is no more important cause to the Pences than the cause of life,” Pence said.
Likewise, Trump “has made a clear commitment to the sanctity of human life,” Pence added, saying it is important to elect Trump so he can nominate U.S. Supreme Court justices.
Pence is a pro-life champion who has signed multiple pieces of pro-life legislation into law and led the fight in Congress to de-fund Planned Parenthood. His selection as vice president has mollified some pro-lifers’ concerns about Trump, who has campaigned as a pro-life candidate but who has made some misstatements about abortion and Planned Parenthood.
Earlier this year, Pence faced some vicious attacks when he signed a law to protect unborn babies with disabilities like Down syndrome from being aborted in Indiana. One of the most crude attacks was “Periods for Pence,” where abortion activists harassed the governor’s office by sending detailed messages about their menstrual cycles. Pence did not back down and signed the law. Under his leadership, Indiana currently is fighting a lawsuit from Planned Parenthood to overturn the pro-life law.

The abortion giant is attacking Pence at the national level, too. Immediately after Trump chose him as his vice presidential running mate, Planned Parenthood sent a letter to its supporters that stated, “Donald Trump’s VP couldn’t be worse.” They also tweeted messages referring back to the crude Indiana campaign.

In 2011, Pence gave a passionate speech during the March for Life in Washington, D.C. and called Roe v. Wade the “worst Supreme Court decision since Dred Scott.”

In July, Pence said Trump will nominate U.S. Supreme Court judges who would overturnRoe.

“If we appoint strict constructionists to the Supreme Court as Donald Trump intends to do, I believe we will see Roe v. Wade consigned to the ash heap of history where it belongs,” Pence said during a campaign stop in Michigan.

Mike Pence: For the Sake of Unborn Children, Donald Trump Has to Pick Judges Not Hillary Clinton

By Steven Ertelt
Life News

During a rally in Virginia over the weekend, pro-life vice-presidential running mate Mike Pence said voters need to support Donald Trump because the issue of the Supreme Court is too important to allow Hillary Clinton to win.

“For the sake of the sanctity of life, we must ensure Donald Trump selects the next Supreme Court justice,” Pence said.

Pence appeared at the rally with pro-life leader Marjorie Dannenfelser of the Susan B. Anthony List:

Please join me in welcoming the next Vice President of the United States, Governor @Mike_Pence - @MarjorieSBA

Recently, Trump released a well-received list of 11 potential Supreme Court nominees — a list pro-life groups hailed for having strong supporters of the Constitution. Trump also recently hired a key pro-life advocate has his domestic policy director.

If Trump is the nominee, he would present a stark contrast on abortion to pro-abortion Democrat Hillary Clinton.

Trump has specifically promised he would sign a bill as president to de-fund Planned Parenthood. In an interview with David Brody of CBN, Trump made that promise:

David Brody: “As a President Trump, if a bill came to your desk that would defund Planned Parenthood you would support that, you would sign that?”
Donald Trump: “Yes, because as long as they do the abortion I am not for funding Planned Parenthood… As long as they’re involved with abortion, as far as I’m concerned forget it, I wouldn’t fund them regardless. I would defund Planned Parenthood because of their view and the fact of their work on abortion…. I am for defunding Planned Parenthood as long as they are involved with abortion.”

As far as Trump’s comments on Planned Parenthood funding are concerned, Trump has fairly consistently said he opposes taxpayer funding but he’s also made some remarks about the “good things” Planned Parenthood does that have alarmed pro-life voters — as if any “good thing” could make up for the fact that planned Parenthood kills 330,000 unborn babies a year in abortions and then sells their body parts for profit.
