BREAKING: Belgium Parliament Approves Euthanasia for Children

The Parliament in Belgium has just voted to allow children to be euthanized by 86 votes to 44. There will be no age limit, and the law is expected to be signed by the king. This would make Belgium the first country in the world to allow children of any age to be euthanized.

And while the law is supposedly limiting euthanasia to children who are terminally ill only, it’s important to be realistic. That’s what Belgium’s laws already require for adults who choose to be euthanized, but it’s not the case at all. Their euthanasia train has run completely off the tracks, with people being euthanized for blindness, depression, being transgendered, and for anorexia. Why should anyone expect that it will be any different for children?

Salon Writer Believes Abortion Is A Human Sacrifice And She’s Okay With That

We hear about them quite often in the news – the mothers who sacrificed themselves for their child. The women who put their own well-being aside and do whatever it took to save their child. For example: A mother who drown after saving her three young children from a river. The mother who protected her son with her life in an earthquake by using her body as a shield. The mother who threw herself in front of an oncoming car to save her child and lost her own life. And the mother who gave her life to cancer rather than subject her unborn daughter to harmful medications. We call these women brave. We call them selfless. We call them heroines. We say they know the true meaning of motherhood.

So what do we say than of mothers like Mary Elizabeth Williams who believe that fetuses are living human beings, that the fetuses they have carried or will carry are their living babies, but in the same breath announce that those children’s lives are not as valuable as their own? Are they brave? Are they selfless? Do they know the true meaning of motherhood? Williams, in a piece for Salon writes:

I know that throughout my own pregnancies, I never wavered for a moment in the belief that I was carrying a human life inside of me. I believe that’s what a fetus is: a human life. And that doesn’t make me one iota less solidly pro-choice.

 If life indeed begins at conception and that is no longer the argument surrounding abortion, then does the argument become: When does love begin? Does love begin with that first positive pregnancy test? Does love begin only when a pregnancy is planned? Does love begin when the child is born? Or does love begin when the child is able to return a smile? When do we love someone enough to give value to their lives, value above our own?

Disney Princesses and the Abortion/Breast Cancer Link

Recently Dina Goldstein’s photo essay struck at the Disney princess myth by exposing what the series called Fallen Princesses. This particular photo shows Rapunzel as a very youthful cancer patient with her golden locks shorn. The image is starkly evocative and apt, as literally documented recently by David Jay’s Scar project. Thirty-year-old women with no family history of breast cancer have no business showing up at the oncologist’s office. Goldstein’s image is successful without being sexualized, as are many of the images in Pink-tober ads to promote breast cancer awareness.

“Rather than being playful, which is what these campaigns are after,” Peggy Orenstein writes, “sexy cancer suppresses discussion of real cancer, rendering its sufferers – the ones whom all this is supposed to be for - invisible.”

Moreover, while a month-long breast cancer awareness campaign or Pink-tober gets promoted by various cancer charities and purveyors of popular cultural, it is widely called pinkwashing, its basic denial as clear as the cigarette makers disputing the now accepted truth that smoking causes cancer. Just as with cigarette manufacturers, the breast cancer industry represents the interests of governmental agencies and big business more than the women suffering.

Eight Misguided and Dangerous Statements from Planned Parenthood and Company

1) Restricting Abortion Does Not Protect Women
Vicki Cowart, Planned Parenthood New Mexico CEO:

Efforts like this [fetal pain bill in New Mexico] have nothing to do with protecting women.

Actually, fetal pain bills are very much about “human decency and public health safety,” as Representative Marsha Blackburn so eloquently put it in a Politco op-ed. And that includes safety for women. Blackburn details some of the grisly conditions in clinics where late-term abortions are performed.

LiveStrong.com (a partner of the LiveStrong Foundation) writes:

All abortions, like most invasive medical procedures, come with a certain degree of risk. Late term abortions can carry more dangers dependent upon the type of procedure performed.

LiveStrong’s article then goes on to detail risks to women, particularly when a D&E abortion is performed – a common late-term procedure. If you read about D&E abortions for yourself, it’s obvious how this procedure could cause great harm to women.
Several studies have found an increased risk of physical and mental health complications for women in abortions performed after the 1st trimester, though early abortions were found to have their own dangers.

U.S. mortality rates demonstrate the stark danger abortion poses to women. Since women can indeed suffer from shock, hemorrhaging, perforation, infection, instrumental injury, and death during and after abortion, it’s simply silly to state that restrictions “have nothing to do with protecting women.”

Pro-life advocates Rally to Stop the Killing at Carhart’s Abortion Center

  


The rally, an inspiring witness to a community bound together in the common cause of protecting their women and children from abortion, was held in response to Carhart’s brutal, inhuman activity and neglect, fatal to women and children both, in his Germantown facility. Even though the abortion facility is located in a commercial complex and not in a residential area or near a university campus, the protest pulled in a crowd of over two hundred. Protesters gathered on the lawn to present a united front against Carhart’s operations and the damaging effects of abortion. The rally demanded true protection and empowerment of women, justice for Jennifer and Madison Morbelli, and the revocation of Carhart’s license to practice in Maryland.

If Life Doesn’t Begin at Conception, Then Where do We Draw the Line?

At week 8, the embryonic period is over and the fetal stage begins

It is a scientific fact that life begins at conception. Live Action has already covered this at length, with an abundance of statements from experts in the field. Pieces have also been written to further demonstrate the humanity of the unborn and the miracle that conception is.

 If we accept that life begins at conception, which is indeed a fact, not just an opinion, then there should be no confusion as to if the unborn is a life worth saving. There should be no confusion as to if the unborn is a life that will be killed as a result of abortion.

For those who do not accept this fact, then, it must be confusing. Where is the line drawn? When the heartbeat forms? When the child can feel pain? When does the child become a life? When is it wrong to kill this life? There exists a wide range of opinions as to when abortion takes a life, and when it is wrong. But opinions are not fact, and they become pretty arbitrary pretty fast.

Belgian Woman Suffering From Anorexia Euthanized

 Belgium’s euthanasia program has become like a speeding freight train with no brakes. It’s not entirely surprising, as most euthanasia-friendly countries start out claiming that the procedure will be used only for the terminally ill, only to have it abused left and right (consider the Netherlands).

There have been two notable cases recently out of Belgium which caused international controversy. The first involved Belgian twin brothers who were deaf and had learned they were going blind as well. The next involved a Belgian woman suffering from depression. Belgium’s euthanasia law requires that the patient be terminally ill or in extreme pain, which was obviously not the case in either situation. These were people who were suicidal and needed help, not death.

Now, there’s more appalling news of yet another mentally ill person being killed under Belgium’s euthanasia program. This woman was suffering from anorexia and had been sexually abused by her psychiatrist. She was referred to a new psychiatrist, who granted her death wish.

Abortion Industry Quotes Show Women are Often Denied Fair Counsel

Pro-life activists have tried to put laws in place requiring counselors at abortion clinics to give factual information to women considering abortions. Many of these laws say that a woman must be offered detailed facts about the development of her unborn baby, information on resources in the community that are available if she carries the baby to term, and physical and emotional risks of the procedure. Planned Parenthood and other pro-choice groups adamantly oppose these laws. 

They oppose them even when it is not mandatory for the woman to see this information, but she would simply be offered the CHOICE to view it.A Georgia Planned Parenthood director named Kay Scott summarize the abortion giant’s position on informed consent when she said:

 “Supporters of the Woman’s Right to Know bill say it would allow time for reflection, but this bill is really about deception. …women already receive full informed consent before having an abortion…..”
