Rev. Franklin Graham: ‘Abortion is the Killing of a Child in the Womb’

“Far too many people who want to be governors, legislators, professors, and teachers in this nation have fallen prey to a culture of death philosophy. They are denying the worth of millions of children made in the image of God.”

Last week, evangelist Franklin Graham, son of the late Billy Graham, used his public platform to speak in defense of the preborn. Graham wrote in a statement on Facebook, “An abortion is the killing of a child in the womb, intentionally ending a life.”

Graham’s post was in response to comments by Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Tony Evers comparing abortions to tonsillectomies, and suggesting that the former should be funded by taxpayers through Medicaid.

Evers, who is pro-choice, told the Weekly Standard,
“We need to have the Medicaid money be available for all people and restricting it because of a certain procedure, whether it’s a tonsillectomy or any other procedure, seems to me a foolhardy thing to do.”
Under current Wisconsin law, Medicaid cannot directly fund abortions, as is the case with most states. Under the Hyde Amendment, federal funds are also banned from directly paying for elective abortions.

Graham called Evers position “unbelievable,” and added,
“Taxpayers paying for tonsil removal is not at all the same as paying for an abortion.”
Pro-choice advocates have made claims similar to Evers’, suggesting that abortion is just like any form of surgery. Some legislators have even filed grotesque “satirical” bills supposedly to show how “unnecessary” and “invasive” pro-life laws are for women. With these publicity stunts, politicians attempt to argue that abortion should not require any unique regulation because abortion is simply a medical procedure.

In these impassioned defenses of euphemisms—“reproductive rights,” “terminating a pregnancy”—there is never any mention of the preborn baby. The presence of a unique, living human being with a beating heart is what makes abortion unlike any medical procedure. While medical care aims to preserve and restore health, abortion aims to kill a child in the womb, which is never necessary to save the life of the mother.

Graham points to this undeniable reality of preborn life in his Facebook post. In closing he wrote
“Far too many people who want to be governors, legislators, professors, and teachers in this nation have fallen prey to a culture of death philosophy. They are denying the worth of millions of children made in the image of God.”
This is not the first time Graham has made a pro-life statement on his social media. Following the U.S. Senate’s failure to pass the 20-week abortion ban earlier this year, Graham wrote that the senators opposing the bill “voted against human rights, the right to be born in the first place.”

Baby Oliver Saved in U.S. After UK Doctors Said His Heart Couldn’t be Fixed

By Cassy Fiano
Live Action News

Most parents would readily cross oceans to save their child’s life, with no thought as to the cost or distance. But for some children in the UK, like Alfie Evans and Charlie Gard, that simply wasn’t an option they were given. Oliver Cameron is one of the fortunate ones, though, and thanks to the tireless efforts of his parents and doctors at Boston Children’s Hospital, Oliver is alive and thriving today.

When Oliver was born in the United Kingdom, he had a large, non-cancerous tumor in his heart, called a cardiac fibroma. It was so rare that doctors in the UK weren’t able to treat it. Only a handful had even seen it.
“They couldn’t treat the tumor in the U.K. because they didn’t have any doctors with the right expertise,” his mother, Lydia, said. “They said our only option was a heart transplant, but we thought there must be another route, so we started doing our own research.”

READ: Alfie Evans is just the latest victim in Europe’s culture of death

Their research led them to Boston Children’s Hospital, where another little girl, Francesca, had successfully had her large cardiac tumor removed. Her story was posted on the Boston Children’s Hospital Facebook page the day after Oliver was born, which Lydia took as a sign. So she reached out to Francesca’s doctors, Dr. Pedro del Nido and Dr. Tal Geva, and sent Oliver’s records to them. They responded that he would be a good candidate for the surgery — even though the NHS doctors were insistent that Oliver’s tumor could not be removed. But the difficulties of getting Oliver treatment weren’t over yet; the Cameron family now had to find a way to pay for it.

At first, the NHS refused to pay.

“Oliver’s cardiologist spent hours of his own time trying to get Oliver to Boston — he kept applying and reapplying for the National Health Service to cover the surgery in the U.S., but with no luck,” Lydia said.
“So, we started our own fundraising campaign, because we had no other way to get him there.” But after they successfully raised most of the money, they got good news: not only would the NHS pay for the surgery, they would also send two cardiologists and a cardiac surgeon to learn from the doctors at Boston Children’s.

In November of 2017, Oliver underwent the eight-hour surgery, which went better than expected. “Dr. del Nido warned us that they may not be able to remove the entire tumor because it was so large, but that he would remove as much as possible,” Lydia explained. “So when they told us he had removed all of it, we were so happy we just burst into tears.”

The tumor ended up being one of the largest the doctors had ever seen.

After the surgery, Oliver continued to stun doctors by making a rapid recovery, and was able to return home by Christmas. “This experience has shown us how much good there is in the world,” Lydia said. “So many people supported us along the way, from near and far. And without Dr. Geva and Dr. del Nido, we would have lost Oliver. Miracles do happen — and we are grateful to be celebrating ours.”

The Camerons were exceedingly fortunate that they were able to bring Oliver to the United States to receive treatment. It’s a blessing not given to everyone, denied most notably to toddlers Charlie Gardand Alfie Evans

The parents of both boys were told that treatment was futile and that they should just be allowed to die; when the parents raised money to seek treatment outside of the United Kingdom, hospitals and courts refused to allow it, and forced both boys to be removed from life support.

Tens of Thousands Expected to Protest Abortion in Netherlands this Weekend

By Jonathan Van Maren
National Right to Life

NETHERLANDS, December 7, 2017 — Cry for Life, a Dutch pro-life organization that has been battling the Culture of Death in the Netherlands since 1985, is predicting a massive turnout for the 25th March for Life in The Hague this weekend, with tens of thousands of people expected to participate in the silent march.

The theme of the March for Life, which will feature Dutch politicians as well as a pro-life UN lobbyist, is “When did your heart start beating?” and will draw attention to euthanasia as well.

Abortion was legalized in the Netherlands in 1980, and is currently legal up until 24 weeks, and legislation legalizing euthanasia was passed in 2002. The Netherlands became the first country since Nazi Germany to legalize euthanasia, and the numbers of Dutch men and women requesting euthanasia continue to rise annually.

One reason that Dutch pro-lifers expect a higher turnout and more enthusiasm this year is the fact that four of the seven operating abortion clinics in the Netherlands were shut down in 2017 due to massive fraud scandals.

Dutch abortion clinics had been submitting false reimbursements to the government, totaling nearly 15 million euros in fraudulent charges. Cry for Life hopes that pro-lifers can take advantage of the abortion industry’s setback and present Dutch women with compassionate and non-lethal options for pregnancy.

Pro-lifers “Are the Antidote to the Present Darkness”

“You are the antidote to the present darkness—the culture of death. Don’t back down or give up or get discouraged. Ever. Ask God for strength.

Editorial
National Right to Life

It is a truism of sorts that because something is 100% expected, we can easily overlook its significance. Looked at another way, however, it is equally true that because the outcome is wholly predictable, it speaks volumes.

By way of illustration, the New York Times (the anti-life newspaper of record) recently ran a story that talked about informal discussions pro-life President Donald Trump had with the largest abortion provider in the known galaxy, Planned Parenthood. During the campaign, Mr. Trump made clear he was not opposed to federal funds going to Planned Parenthood if the nation’s largest provider of abortions got out of the abortion business.

“Offering money to Planned Parenthood to abandon our patients and our values is not a deal that we will ever accept,” huffed Dawn Laguens, the executive vice president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America. “Providing critical health care services for millions of American women is nonnegotiable.” So, just to be crystal-clear, decapitating a helpless unborn child is providing a “health care service.”

Even though Planned Parenthood continues to propagate the frequently dispelled falsehood that abortion makes up only 3% of the “services” it provides, it knows–we know–there is a lot at stake for PPFA which obliterates over 320,000+ unborn babies each and every year.

Editor’s note. This editorial appeared on page two of the March digital edition of National Right to Life News. Please be sure to read the issue in its entirety and pass stories along to your pro-life friends and family.

They Wouldn’t Pay For Her Cancer Treatment But They’d Pay for Her Assisted Suicide

By Emily DeRois
Life News

In select states where assisted suicide is legal, physicians and medical practices now are allowed to prescribe lethal drugs to their patients to end their lives, The Daily Signal reported

Although many of these patients have treatable ailments, it is less costly for them to die. Assisted suicide is an alarming trend that many say is pressuring patients to end their own lives prematurely.

Opponents of assisted suicide point out how it is cheaper than many medical treatments for the terminally ill and disabled.

Guy Page of the Vermont Alliance for Ethical Healthcare explained the problem this creates:

“It doesn’t take a health care economist to see the shortest distance in finding ways to reduce health care costs is physician-assisted suicide.”

Consequently, the cost of treatment plays a significant role in the promotion of physician-assisted suicide. In Oregon, where doctor-prescribed suicide is legal, there have been several cases of cancer patients being pushed toward assisted suicide because it was cheaper than the medical treatment they needed.

One such case involved Barbra Wagner. She was a lung cancer patient who was presented with the “choice” to end her life.

Wagner said: “I got a letter in the mail that basically said if you want to take the pills, we will help you get that from the doctor and we will stand there and watch you die. But we won’t give you the medication to live.”

Think Abortion is Safe? Here's Six Abortion Businesses that will Make You Think Again!

By Cheryl Sullenger
Operation Rescue

Washington, DC - Chanting the mantra of "safe and legal," radical feminists celebrated the January 22, 1973, Roe v. Wade U.S. Supreme Court decision that decriminalized abortion in America. But did legal really make abortion safe?

Now, 43 years later, that question has been answered.

While some may have heard of Kermit Gosnell, who is serving life in prison for murdering babies born alive at his West Philadelphia "House of Horrors," they are generally unaware that his was far from the only abortion business to pose a grave danger to the public.

The reality is that the "safe" part of abortion never actually materialized, no matter what outdated or manufactured statistics are dishonesty spouted by the Abortion Cartel. It is a fact that abortion injuries, complications, and deaths are simply not reported in any reliable fashion. Many such episodes are intentionally concealed by a corrupt, self-imploding abortion industry that will do anything to maintain the illusion that abortion is not only necessary, but good for women.

Operation Rescue has obtained thousands of documents, available at AbortionDocs.org, that verify the business of abortion is fraught with dangers that are largely hidden from the public.

Operation Rescue has now released information about six active abortion businesses that prove that Roe v. Wade did not make abortion safe - certainly not for the nearly 58 million babies who have died brutal deaths from abortions, but not for their mothers, either.

"You can consider the myth of safe abortions completely debunked," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. "The documents we have acquired tell the truth that predatory and dangerous abortion practices generally characterize abortion businesses currently operating in America today. In fact, in our in-depth research on the Abortion Cartel, we have yet to find even one abortion clinic that completely complies with all state and federal laws."

Watch the video and read about the six abortion businesses that debunk the pro-abortion rhetoric and prove abortion poses grave dangers to women here!

Identity Revealed: Abortionist that Tried to Pimp Out His Girlfriend Subject of "Dear Abby" Letter

By Cheryl Sullenger
Operation Rescue

Wichita, KS - A letter that appeared last Thursday in the nationally syndicated advice column "Dear Abby" caught my husband's attention.

"Hey, you have to see this," he said as I drank my morning coffee and scanned abortion-related news stories on my iPad. He began to read the letter.

Dear Abby: I am a widow in my early 50s. While I was dating a prominent OB-GYN, I found out that he's involved in criminal activity - operating a so-called "pill mill." On our last date, he asked me to join an escort service he was starting.

The story sounded so familiar. Suddenly, I realized I had spoken to this letter writer at least twice and knew the identity of Ob/Gyn she was referencing.

Continue reading to find out who the letter writer is referring to and why women need to be warned!
