Howard Dean Says There’s No Room for Pro-Life Democrats in the Democrat Party

In a separate post today we pick up on the ongoing fallout (fascinating, by the way) to a pro-life op-ed that appeared in the New York Times. Particularly, by way of preview, on the insistence that a woman cannot be a feminist and pro-life.

But pro-abortion former presidential aspirant (and Vermont Gov.) Howard Dean, appearing on “Morning Joe” yesterday, double downed on essentially the same argument: the self-defeating “progressive” mantra that there is no room for pro-lifers in the Democratic Party.

Joe Scarborough, the co-host, kept alluding to the not-so-distant old days when Democrats practically ruled the South and Dean kept responding, in effect, that Scarborough was missing his point.

In fact, nobody was missing anyone’s point. To Scarborough’s point–why would Democrats exclude people who might agree with Democrats on a panoply of issues but are pro-life (in other words, don’t they need them to win?)–Dean responded

“No. Because the young generation isn’t that way. I think the old left/right is an anachronism. It exists in Washington. It exists in the media. Young people don’t think that way. They are not ideological. They are extremely interested in social justice, so we are never going back to maybe making compromises on abortion, and gay rights is another one.”

Dean added that the only problem Democrats have is in energizing their coalition, particularly younger voters.

Nancy Pelosi Trashes Pro-Life People: “They Pray on Sunday and Prey on People the Rest of the Week”

The Democratic Party has problems.
Ever since Democrats suffered major, unexpected losses in the November election, political commentators have been speculating about why. One of the biggest reasons pointed to is the party’s disconnect with rural, religious and pro-life voters.

On Friday, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough broached the topic with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

“How do they reconnect with a middle America who feels like [Democrats] look down on them?” Scarborough asked.

Pelosi emphasized that Democrats are people of faith, but she said they may need to work harder to make that clear. Later in the interview, Pelosi accused Republicans, who by and large are pro-life, of “exploiting” their religious beliefs for political gain, and claimed that their actions do not line up with their beliefs.

“They pray in church on Sunday, and prey on everyone the rest of the week,” Pelosi said. “And while we’re doing the Lord’s work by ministering to the needs of God’s creation, they are ignoring those needs, which is to dishonor the God who made them.”

Later, she added, “We don’t exploit that because we don’t think we’re supposed to, but maybe we have to make it clear.”

As a pro-abortion politician and a self-described Catholic, Pelosi arguably has done the exact opposite. On the abortion issue, she has voted repeatedly against her faith’s teachings about the value of human life, beginning in the womb.

Rep. Blackburn: Democrats Privately Attempted to Obstruct Investigation into Baby Body Parts Trade

Washington, D.C. - One year to the day after the first undercover video was released by the Center for Medical Progress exposing Planned Parenthood's involvement in the aborted baby body parts trade, the Select Panel on Infant Lives issued an Interim Report detailing their findings so far.

Led by Rep. Marsha Blackburn, several panel members outlined discoveries that support the claim that procurement companies profited from the sale of baby body parts.

"Documents show abortion clinics and middlemen who were exploiting women and selling baby body parts as part of a business plan to make more money," Rep. Blackburn stated at today's press conference.

Rep. Blackburn pointed out that the sale of aborted baby remains for financial gain is a 10-year felony offense.
