Help Us Safeguard Taxpayer Dollars from Abortion

A state representative is planning to introduce a bill that would threaten your tax dollars. Representative Steven Santarsiero (D-Bucks County) is circulating a co-sponsorship memo for a bill that would repeal Act 13 of 2013.

If you will recall, Act 13 is the common sense law that ensures that no taxpayer funding of abortion will occur in the health insurance exchange created in Pennsylvania under Obamacare. We must safeguard this important law!

"Please do not co-sponsor Rep. Santarsiero's bill to repeal Act 13 of 2013. I don't want my tax dollars to pay for abortion." (The bill does not have a number yet.)

No Less Sacred Before Birth

HARRISBURG, Pa. - Recently, a friend of mine, ever-sunny Robin, was all set to serve as a volunteer on a women's retreat weekend. Then she learned that her beloved grandchild in utero, Quinn, had to be delivered by C-section the next morning.

She left the retreat, bound for her daughter-in-law's side. She left behind a group of faithful women who were praying fervently that Quinn would journey safely into the world.
The retreat was jam-packed with talks and activities, but when we had a few moments to pause, the team members, prayed again for the young lady's blessed arrival. A few hours later, a team member glanced at her phone and quietly informed those around her "We have a baby."

We logged onto Facebook and there, in all her five-pound glory, was the girl we had been praying for-stunningly beautiful, preciously pink, uniquely lovely, and unashamedly and completely loved by the grandmother who held Quinn in her arms.

While I was filled with joy and wonder at seeing Quinn's breathtaking face, I couldn't help but think of some politicians-most notably Hillary Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders-and what they'd said at a Fox News Town Hall in Detroit: they support abortion even at the latest stages of pregnancy.

While Quinn's remarkable family members were greeting her with open, loving hearts, two candidates for President were callously defending the brutal practice of late-term abortion.
It's entirely possible that these same politicians would ooh and ahh if they saw Quinn's photo on Facebook. And yet, they remain committed to a political agenda which allows abortion up to the moment of birth.

Quinn's life is no accident-and neither is the life of any unborn child. There is purpose and reason for her life. And perhaps her worth is all the more apparent, given the struggle her mother faced in giving birth to her.

Quinn comes at a time when political candidates can blindly and blandly dismiss children in the womb, assigning them no rights-as if these public officials had the power to determine a child's worth. No matter how powerful they believe they are, no matter the height of the office they hope to hold, assigning value to human beings is beyond their rightful authority.

Quinn was no less sacred before birth as she is after birth. Sure, we can see her sunlit face now, when before, with the ultrasound, she would demurely turn her face away. But she is no more human now than she was when snugly living inside her mother's body. She is the same person-only older and more exposed to the world-a world that she will forever change, just through her very being.

When Hillary Clinton and Sen. Sanders talk about "women's rights," they forget about the rights of those little women in the womb, who are every bit as deserving of respect as a President, a premier, or a king.

I am convinced that someday women will be able to look at a baby picture and not have to think about the babies who never got a chance to see their grandmother's faces-the babies that Roe v. Wade cast away.

Roe v. Wade will be no more. The next generation will guarantee it.

Women, Children Respond to Concept of Abortion‏ on Video

Last week, I watched two new videos about people responding to the topic of abortion.

Though unrelated, both videos had similar content and were released about the same time. One video interviewed women, the other children (in an age-appropriate manner).

In "One Word: Abortion," women were asked to give one-word responses to the term. Their reactions and viewpoints varied from "horrible" to "choice." See video below.

 


In "Children Asked about Abortion," the children answered questions about how to take care of babies and if it is ok to hurt or kill a baby in its mother's womb. See the video below.

After watching both videos, I noticed how predictable the responses were based on one word -- baby. When the responders mentioned a baby, they consistently rejected abortion. When they spoke of "choice" or "a right," the baby never was mentioned.

And, in a way, they are right. If there's no baby, abortion is simply a medical procedure, a choice. But if there is a baby (and we know there is), abortion is, as one responder put it: "Wrong. I guess I've always just been pro-life. I feel like when people think of pro-choice they just think of the mom and the person, people don't think about the life that's inside of you, or the person that doesn't have a voice."

Too often our society chooses to forget that abortion involves a baby's life as well as a woman's.
Now more than ever, we need to be the voice for the voiceless. We need to remind our society that we can and we must love them both.
