We Must Stand Witness

On Tuesday night, a flown-in rent-a-mob screamed, jeered, and overrode ordinary small-r republican governance in Texas in order to make sure that viable children in utero, 20 weeks old and older, could still be killed on their mothers’ say-so. They also opposed efforts to make it so that a woman receiving an abortion did so in a clean medical facility, because a lot of abortionists don’t run those.

They stood with Kermit Gosnell and Douglas Karpen, the doctors who, respectively, are in jail for murdering children of the same age and in horrible sanitary conditions, and likely soon will be. And they were cheered on almost unanimously by print and television media.

Mollie Hemingway has a wonderful writeup on this, but I wanted to add a part. Because you see, we as Americans allow this madness — mobs running over governance, children being butchered — and I feel it is important to explain exactly what is at stake here.

Virginia, with the support of Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, has enacted some of the most stringent health requirements for abortion clinics in the country. The law allows the Virginia Board of Health to regulate abortion clinics much like hospitals, to ensure that they provide the same operation, staffing, equipping, staff qualifications and training, and conditions as hospitals in Virginia. These regulations would ensure that no “House of Horrors” operates in Virginia.

Media Covers up Democrat-Backed Planned Parenthood’s Support for Infanticide

 For almost as long as there have been two parties, there have been accusations of mainstream media bias. Conservatives know it’s real. Liberals insist it’s imagined. Bias is evident not only in how events are covered but also in what is covered—and more importantly what is not covered.

Consider two events from last week. First, in North Dakota the governor signed into law bills that would ban abortions when a fetal heartbeat is present and when the procedure is sought solely because of the baby’s genetics. The media, including most major outlets, went into a frenzy to stir up controversy, often casting pro-life conservatives in a negative light.

Then later in the week in Florida, lawmakers held a hearing about a bill to protect the lives of babies born during an attempted abortion procedure. The bill requires the abortionist to provide medical care to the newborn. It might seem obvious that a newborn should be cared for—but not to Planned Parenthood.

Little Voices in Heaven: To the Unborn Many, A Letter From The Ghost

This is dedicated to the 55 million lives lost before they ever began. Rest easy in the arms of your Father in heaven for he has found you. My name is Matt, also known as TomJeffersonsGhost, also known as Estudiante De Manos De Piedra, also known as El Fantasma. I’m writing you on this day after the anniversary of Roe. V Wade, a decision in which changed the course of your existence forever. Because of Roe V. Wade you and possibly millions of others just like you will never know what it’s like to live life to the fullest. To marry your sweetheart, to get that dream job, or build that dream house, and to hold precious children of your own in your arms. I can imagine there must be quite a few potential soldiers, doctors, lawyers, pastors, nurses, teachers, and builders among you.

I apologize for our society in how little they value life. I would venture to guess that it would be hard for them to murder their own children while they sleep, to shrug it off as if it were on the same footing as mailing a letter, or going to the grocery store; that is, an everyday part of daily life. But even after your gone I ask: What about your life? Things in this world aren’t fair, we don’t always find answers to the questions we have; but this seems unjust.

I can’t help but to put you in the same lot as little children in Africa who have fallen victim to the genocidal appetite of a two bit dictator. What’s the difference between Cecile Richards and Omar Al-Bashir of Sudan? Maybe a question you’re too young to answer, but one I’d like the answer to from someone.

I suppose I take comfort of sorts in the fact that you never knew the face of your destroyer, nor the face of the mother unwilling to recognize your existence as anything but a burden on her own. For you and the others yet to come will be secure and in everlasting love and peace with the Lord your God. As much as it pains me to know that nearly a generation of young lives were wiped off the face of memory, at least I take solace in this scripture:

(Matthew 19:14)- Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these”

On a clear blue day as this, though it may be cold outside I’ll look up and maybe see some of your faces smiling down, your innocence has not been in vain.

Maybe Carol Platt Leibau is right, and that we should pray for all parties involved in abortion, but I can’t help but to feel a bias for the child, who unlike the mother had no voice, had no choice or say in the matter. If being pro-choice means granting women a choice but thereby taking away the choice of the child to live, I believe in my heart such a false choice isn’t something I could ever support.

I have to go now but if it’s any kind of peace in your hearts for me to say this, then I will: Rest easy knowing that heaven is a much better place than the world in which you’ll never know. This culture of violence, empathy, cruelty, selfishness, materialism, sexual wickedness, and corruption have come to define a world in which no child born or unborn ought to witness. Honestly, in its own tragic way abortion saved you from such evil on this Earth. I guess God works to fit his will through the evil agenda of others. As to say, “Though you may kill my children, I will set aside a place for them with me in my kingdom. One in which you destroyers of innocent life shall not inherit”

Finally, Honest Words From the Pro-Abortion Society

 

I feel like singing the Hallelujah Chorus right now. No more “safe, legal and rare” canard. No more lies about how an unborn child is just a “bunch of cells”. The left is finally coming “out of the closet” on the truth that life begins at conception and abortion is murder. Or at least, one author on the left is doing so…Salon author Mary Elizabeth Williams who is the author of an article entitled “So what if abortion ends life?”
It’s honest at least. And that’s a step in the right direction. Better by far than the constant and repetitive attempts to deceive young females with all the other random dishonest claims that the pro-abortion crowd has used over the years.
For those of us who attempt to live our lives within a scope of moral absolutes, the question of abortion being the equivalent of murder has always been a relatively simple question to answer. Yes, it is the equivalent of murder. Our moral standards define various forms of behavior as being right while other forms of behavior are wrong. Murder is wrong. Most of us have also learned to stay away from relative moral standards as much as possible. Why? Because it can be highly tempting to want to justify behaviors that are wrong. Human beings are simply human. No more and no less. We all face temptations to engage in wrong behaviors from time to time. It’s how we respond to those temptations that matters, i.e. whether we resist those temptations or whether we allow them to get the better of us.
For those who don’t live within a scope of moral absolutes, the following type of justification can be relatively common:

Here’s the complicated reality in which we live: All life is not equal. That’s a difficult thing for liberals like me to talk about, lest we wind up looking like death-panel-loving, kill-your-grandma-and-your-precious-baby storm troopers. Yet a fetus can be a human life without having the same rights as the woman in whose body it resides. She’s the boss. Her life and what is right for her circumstances and her health should automatically trump the rights of the non-autonomous entity inside of her. Always.

We’re so intimidated by the wingnuts, we get spooked out of having these conversations. We let the archconservatives browbeat us with the concept of “life,” using their scare tactics on women and pushing for indefensible violations like forced ultrasounds. Why? Because when they wave the not-even-accurate notion that “abortion stops a beating heart” they think they’re going to trick us into some damning admission. They believe that if we call a fetus a life they can go down the road of making abortion murder. And I think that’s what concerns the hell out of those of us who support unrestricted reproductive freedom.
But we make choices about life all the time in our country. We make them about men and women in other nations. We make them about prisoners in our penal system. We make them about patients with terminal illnesses and accident victims. We still have passionate debates about the justifications of our actions as a society, but we don’t have to do it while being bullied around by the vague idea that if you say we’re talking about human life, then the jig is up, rights-wise.

Those are portions of Ms. Williams article, which ends with the comments of

And I would put the life of a mother over the life of a fetus every single time — even if I still need to acknowledge my conviction that the fetus is indeed a life. A life worth sacrificing.

Yes, the temptation to justify wrong behavior is definitely being exhibited in this article, is it not? Of course, one of the problems of relative moral standards is that it sears the human conscience causing human beings to become numb on the inside to the low standards consuming their life and the scope of wrong behavior that they are willingly embracing.
But even beyond the question of moral standards and human behavior, I wonder if Ms. Williams has actually considered this question in light of the rule of law. What is being promoted by the pro-abortion movement is for an individual to take the responsibility upon themselves to define whether or not another human being has the right to life and selective adherence to the rule of law.
In our nation, we have laws prohibiting deliberate, intentional, cold-blooded murder. As citizens of this nation, we can selectively choose to violate a law, but if we do so, we must be prepared to accept the scope of consequences that exist as punishment for failing to adhere to the law, correct? That’s how the rule of law works. We don’t have the right to selectively impose the rule of man (with ourselves as judges for the law) over the rule of law on a whim then simply justify our actions based on our professed “rights”. We don’t have the right to take the law into our own hands. Especially when it causes harm to other s within our society.
Yet the life of the innocent and unprotected “is a life worth sacrificing” according to Ms. Williams.
Unborn children definitely fall into that category of “others”, don’t they? With no voice of their own and unable to stand up for themselves…to protect themselves from harm. If the pro-abortion society didn’t understand before why those of us who value human life have been as adamant as we have in our fight against abortion, perhaps they will understand this…we won’t leave them to stand alone. Those unborn children with no voices. We won’t leave them to stand alone with no one to champion their right to life. Even if you do desert them, we won’t.

Forty Years in the Wilderness

What more may we say about this day in history than that which has already been said? How can we continue to express our sorrow, our sense of loss, and of injustice? And more to the point, should we even bother?


Another Presidential election has come and gone, and the most pro-abortion President in history has been re-elected. Just yesterday a man so enamored of abortion he was unwilling to vote for punishing doctors who failed to provide medical care for children who survived abortion placed his hand on a Bible and took the oath of office for a second time, after having ridden to victory at least in part on his Republican opponent’s unwillingness to even engage him on this issue for fear of backlash. Now our political betters within the beltway and without tell us that it’s time to drop this issue, concede the ground and move on. Let’s be about the truly important business of marginal income tax rates and deficit spending.
While we are not blind to the grave peril presented by America’s financial condition, we must reject this siren call because we believe, quite simply, that America cannot properly be reduced solely to her monetary net worth. We question whether an America stripped of all concerns but for her bottom line is truly worth saving. And we remain faithful that in this great nation, one day even this, the greatest of injustices, can be righted through the democratic process.
However, we realize that this result will only be possible through a constant vigilance against the temptation to compromise with unmitigated evil, and we take this opportunity each year on this day to renew our pledge, now more than ever: we will not endorse any pro-abortion candidate, or accept a pro-choice writer as a front page contributor. If this stand makes us simpletons in the eyes of some, then we shall wear the label of “simpleton” proudly, secure in this knowledge: that the most basic function of any government is to protect the lives of the innocent, and that we have not been diverted by the latest shiny object from holding to this simple truth.
Forty years we have waited, while countless tens of millions have perished. We stand in solidarity with those who march in the capital today, saddened by the knowledge that in some way we have failed those who have perished already.
Today we renew our commitment to use all our strength to prevent the same fate from befalling tens of millions more over the next forty years.
