Liberal Media Trashed Pro-Life Teens Extensively, Spent Just 58 Seconds on Actual March for Life

By Kristan Hawkins
Life News

It’s almost cliché in pro-life circles that on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade for coming close to 50 years, hundreds of thousands of people march for life, and almost no one in the media can see them. Like Pro-Life Ninjas, they move in and out of the nation’s capitol undetected….until a teenager with a “Make America Great Again” hat was faced with a reality of political life today, the professional protestor causing agitation while fellow activists filmed attempts to cause a media moment.

And it worked, at least at first, as many rushed to judgment.

But what is also amazing to me is how aggressively the media ignores hundreds and thousands people — nuns and pastors, families made by adoption and birth, young and old, rich and poor, volunteers in pregnancy care centers and students from across the country — all marching for Life. They see nothing, wading through a crowd, to find something they can criticize. Attacking students based on a few minutes of video is offensive for many reasons, but ignoring all that could be easily seen is just as problematic.

The story of the March for Life deserves to be told by those members of the Fourth Estate who ignore it because of their bias and prejudice against people of faith and in favor of abortion.

Consider that according to the Media Research Center, the major news networks devoted just 58 seconds to the March for Life while the so-called Women’s March (an unwelcoming event for pro-life women) got 15 times more coverage.

But, major news organizations, including Buzzfeed, Huffington Post, USA Today, and New York Times, all suddenly discovered that the March for Life was happening in time to raise public sentiment against Catholic teens wearing Trump hats who were allegedly mocking a a Native American veteran of the Vietnam war (a claim that was stolen valor and has since been debunked.

But it wasn’t just this student who faced attack for his alleged views. It’s common for abortion activists to falsely attack marchers, saying that we only love babies in the womb, want to force women to give birth or that we are not here for mothers after the birth of a child. How wrong they are.

How is it that they miss the tens of thousands of diapers collected every year by Students for Life groups? Or the tens of thousands of dollars raised by Students for Life groups to help pregnant and parenting students? Or how do they miss the numerous good works of other pro-life groups that run pregnancy resource centers, maternity homes, or free medical clinics?

The day after this alleged incident, Students for Life of America hosted more than 2,500 young, pro-life leaders to talk about how the Pro-Life Generation will abolish abortion.

Abortion is at 'Ttpping Point' in Society and Life Leaders Say at March for Life

By Brandon Showalter

Christian Post

The decades long cause to defend the unborn is nearing the "tipping point" in society and in government, longtime pro-life leaders and legislators say.
"For the first time in my adult life I can see the light at the end of the tunnel on the issue of life," said Penny Nance, president of Concerned Women for America, in a Friday interview with The Christian Post on the National Mall behind the March for Life stage before the noon rally.
"And I feel more passionate and optimistic than I have about the cause in years," she said, mentioning President Trump's judicial appointments, including two Supreme Court justices.
Her organization is going to "stomp on the gas" to get the dozens of pending nominees through in the next two years, she explained, "and God willing another four with this president."
"And we don't wish any ill; in fact, we're praying for the health of [Supreme Court] Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. But regardless of what happens, there might be a retirement and we're ready."
"We've had two Supreme Court justices confirmed with the most hostile conditions possible; the left has thrown everything at us that they possibly could. And make no mistake, the controversy around [Justice] Brett Kavanaugh was about one woman, and her name is Jane Roe," she said, referring to the plaintiff in Roe v. Wade, the 1973 landmark case legalizing abortion nationwide.
Nance stressed: "And we will be ready to do the same with the next justice, whoever that is and whenever that is."

Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List, a pro-life political action committee that works to elect pro-life women to Congress, shares Nance's optimism, particularly in light of the current data.
"We're just about at the tip of the tipping point," she told CP Friday.
"Some of the recent polling coming out is even surprising to me," she said, encouraged by Marist surveys showing self-described pro-choice people saying abortion should be restricted to the first trimester.
Dannenfelser is also buoyed by the pro-life majority in the U.S. Senate and believes that in the coming months and years the Supreme court will allow more humane laws to be tested.
"I don't take anything for granted, ever. But we're in a really good place and we need to keep going," she said.
Polling numbers among the millennial generation, regardless of their political affiliation, are also trending in a good direction, the SBA-List president said.
"It's not a conservative or liberal issue for millennials, it's a justice issue for them. It transcends the political boundaries and that's why we're looking at a tipping point."
Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America, concurs, noting that millennials understand science and believe abortion to be a fundamental human rights violation, and is an act of violence.
"Only 7 percent of millennials actual agree with the Democratic National Committee's official platform on abortion, which is abortion in all nine months for whatever reason, taxpayer-funded. They are the extremists on abortion, not us," she commented to CP in the March for Life press tent.

Can't make the March for Life? Here's what you can do instead near the Supreme Court Anniversary at home, in your state, and nationwide now and everyday

For many of us, we have the opportunity to attend either the March for Life in our nation's capital, Walk for Life in San Francisco, or One Life LA. For the rest we might probably have prior conflicts that kept us from going, the potential winter storm, or the scare of the longest Government Shutdown in American History. Some who cannot attend the March for Life are wondering what they can do.

Here are some practical steps you can do not just for the Roe v Wade Anniversary but every day to spread the pro-life message. Keep in mind being pro-life is not an every January thing. Rather, it is a lifelong commitment (pun intended). I offer six tips to help you in your endeavor to defend life.

1. Pray

It is easier said than done, but can you pray for an end to abortion at this moment? Offer a rosary, holy hour, and Chaplet of Divine Mercy for the end of this heinous holocaust of our time. St. Teresa once said that a weekly holy hour done by every Catholic can end abortion in America and the whole world. also find out the schedules for a prayer vigil near you. "Pray without ceasing" 1 Thessalonians 5:17. Also mark your calendars for the spring 2019 campaign, which begins March 6th and runs until April 14th (Palm Sunday).

2. Locate your local or state March for Life

Granted we may not have the money or flexibility to go to the big scale marches. However, many states and major cities are hosting a local rally near you. Be sure to check with your coalition's pages or email updates for details. If there is none planned, organize one.

3. Volunteer

Contact a local pregnancy center and find out how you can help. Many will be in the need of clothes, baby food, and other maternity items. Bear in mind that they can also use people who know basic skills like cooking, baking, house maintenance, sowing, or even basic first aid. If you're a member of the Knights of Columbus, consider having a fundraiser and let the proceeds go towards their life saving mission.

4. Educate

The Catholics Church has a spiritual work of mercy called " Instruct the Ignorant". Now don't take it out of context. There are people outdoor who know very little, yet they think they think are well versed about abortion. Our job is to approach each person when we give witness to life with love and mercy. It can be a challenge, but in the end, love and mercy will unleash life and love. With that said, go into the lion's den and become counter cultural. Articulate the meaning of life to co-workers, friends, family, even total strangers. Tip: Avoid social media debates. Get out in the fresh air and debate

5. Donate

It is tax season. Keep the pro-life ministries in mind between your income taxes and utility bills. Yes, the abortion lobbies has millions, but what we have is love, prayer, and many fruits of the Holy Spirit that can end this dark chapter in American history. There are things that money can't buy. Your financial support can go a long way.

6. Recruit

It is easy to stare at a screen and promote the pro-life message. What the pro-lifers need to keep doing is recruit new people to join the cause. I say this especially to the young people. Get out of your comfort zones, lace up your boots, pick your spiritual weapons, and recruit your peers in your community, school, or college campus today. Your public witness can never be overlooked. You are the now in the pro-life movement. You are the best hope, whether Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, agnostic, atheist, or even protestant. Each of you have a place in the pro-life movement and it speaks volume. Do not be afraid to set an example to fellow peers with your example. Be an inspiration to those who have no one to look up to. Show love and mercy to every person you encounter. Make noise in the public square about the Gospel of Life, love, and mercy. If those who support abortion go high, go low. they hit you, curse, flip the bird, spit at you, offer the other cheek. The millennials are called to be martyrs. What you do now makes the difference now and into the next century. Start defending life today.

An added bonus: Be Consistent

I mention this because pro-lifers seem to dismiss other life issues. In order to be pro-life, we must defend it from womb to tomb. That means reaching out to someone who has suicidal thoughts, an elderly person who thinks assisted suicide is the only way, the refugee and immigrant entering the United States, the homeless who is trying to escape the bitter cold weather, victims of war, and most importantly someone on death row falsely accused. It's all of nothing at all. Every life has dignity.

Let us take these steps today to defeat the culture of death and build a culture of life today. It starts in your community.

Your elected officials are 99% likely not going to do it, but you can. So what are you waiting for? Defend life.

Pro-Life Speaker Ben Shapiro Will Headline 2019 March for Life

By Christian Vazquez
Life News

Pro-life conservative speaker Ben Shapiro will be headlining the 2019 March for Life.

Shapiro is a conservative media personality, and the editor-in-chief of Daily Wire, a news site that garners more than 140 million page views monthly. He also hosts a podcast called “The Ben Shapiro Show,” which is one of the top conservative podcasts in the nation.

While he speaks out on a multitude of political issues, Shapiro is unequivocally pro-life. He has consistently countered pro-abortion advocates during debates, backing up his arguments with data and research, while laying out the ethics and morality of the issue.
“The procedure of abortion isn’t an anodyne polyp removal; it involves doing terminal violence to an unborn child. Ignoring that fact allows abortion advocates to avoid looking reality directly in the face.” @benshapiro
 https://t.co/lPn49UdYid pic.twitter.com/IPevykNKBT
— March for Life (@March_for_Life) November 28, 2018

Furthermore, with his large viewer and readership, Shapiro’s presence at the March for Life brings additional political clout to the event. As a prominent speaker, people from all over the political spectrum will pay attention to his appearance at this year’s march.

The 46th annual March for Life’s theme is “Unique from Day One,” which emphasizes that being pro-life is also being pro-science. Shapiro is more than qualified to speak at the event, as he has frequently and effectively dismantled the pro-abortion argument with scientific evidence.

In October, Shapiro appeared on Fox News and laid out a defense for life quite clearly:
“Take a good look at that baby. That is a human being with zero rights according to the mainstream of the Democratic party,” Shapiro said.
He displayed images of a 12-week unborn baby and then an unborn baby at eight weeks.
“You can see this baby with his hands near his chest,” he said of the 12-week image. “This is not a cluster of cells. His liver and spleen are producing red blood cells. This is an unborn human being. But not a single federally-elected Democrat would vote for an abortion ban that would protect this baby’s life.
“Life does not begin at 14 weeks,” Shapiro continued. “Life doesn’t begin at eight weeks either. It begins at fertilization, when a new human life is born – a new human being with its own DNA. Human life is a continuous process of growth from the moment of fertilization onward.”
When the March for Life theme was unveiled, President Jeanne Mancini said:
“Science is behind the pro-life movement. We see that medical and technological advancements always affirm the pro-life movement, for example, DNA is present at fertilization and no fingerprint on earth, past, present, or future, is the same. We know, too, a baby’s heart beats at just six weeks and we can distinctly observe it ourselves with ultrasound technology…As science progresses, we see clearly that every life is unique from day one in the womb.”
The March for Life will take place on Jan. 18, 2019, near the anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade. Shapiro will host his podcast live from the rally, and later will be joined by other pro-life speakers at Washington DC’s National Mall.

Did You Know that Pro-life Policies are in Jeopardy?

Tom McClusky
President, March for Life Action

When the 116th Congress convenes next January, a pro-abortion majority will control the U.S. House of Representatives, and all current and long-standing pro-life protections will be under attack.

This includes the Hyde Amendment which is estimated to have already saved over 2 million lives since 1976!

I am working with members of both the House and the Senate to sign a letter urging President Trump to veto any legislation that would remove pro-life policies, like the Hyde Amendment, which must be added annually to appropriations bills.

We need you to express to President Trump how necessary it is that he veto any legislation that chips away at pro-life protections.

Thank you for using your voice to defend the most vulnerable among us.

The March for Life was founded in 1973, when a group of pro-life leaders gathered at Nellie Gray's home in Washington, D.C. to express concern that the first Anniversary of Roe v. Wade would come and go with no recognition. On January 22, 1974 the first March for Life was held on the steps of the Capitol. Pro-lifers have been Marching for Life every year since!

Millions of Women Regret Their Abortions, We Should Pay Attention to Their Stories

By Micaiah Bilger
Life News

Note: This Life News story was originally published in January 2016.
When the U.S. Supreme Court justices handed down the infamous abortion decision Roe v. Wade 43 years ago, few realized the impact it would have on millions of lives.

The devastating effects of Roe are far-reaching. More than 58 million babies have died as a result of legalized abortion, and countless women and men are living with the pain and regret of their decision.

When pro-lifers gather for the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C., each year, they recognize that the victims of abortion include more than just the unborn. Every year, women and men with the Silent No More Awareness Campaign stand on the U.S. Supreme Court steps and talk about how abortions hurt their lives and killed their unborn babies.

Theirs are the stories that abortion advocates try desperately to silence with their own campaigns touting how aborting their unborn babies helped them. Pro-abortion efforts such as the 1 in 3 Campaign and #shoutmyabortion have gained attention from Hollywood and the mainstream media recently. But these campaigns only tell one side of the story, one that fits the abortion industry’s agenda.

Stories by volunteers with Silent No More ruin abortion activists’ claim that women need abortions to be successful. Their stories speak to the horrific truth that abortion kills innocent babies and often damages their mothers and fathers for a lifetime.

“There’s more conversation than ever before about abortion,” noted Georgette Forney, co-founder of the Silent No More campaign. “It’s important that our voices are heard.”
Among those giving testimony this year at the March for Life were Priests for Life’s Father Stephen Imbarrato, who lost twins to abortion when he was a young man. In 1974, he said, “I did not stand up for my girlfriend when I got her pregnant,” and today he counts himself as sharing the guilt for her decision to abort. He was the first man to join the Silent No More campaign.

Imbarrato and his fellow pro-life speakers hope their stories will encourage pregnant women to make better decisions for themselves and their children.

“I’ve seen a lot of coverage of #shoutmyabortion and about actresses reading abortion stories, but the women and men of Silent No More have been speaking out about their abortions for more than a decade,” said Janet Morana, co-founder of Silent No More.
Cullen Herout, writing for The Blaze, shared his experience working with post-abortive women:

I have heard and read countless stories from women who have had abortions. Each story is different, each has different characters, is based in a different location, has different explanations and reasons for choosing abortion. The emotions range widely: some experience sadness, grief, loss. Others experience regret, shame, or an unwillingness to forgive themselves.

Still others experience isolation or a raw emptiness of being unable to experience any emotion at all. Some have dissociated themselves from the experience, or buried it so deeply within themselves that no matter how badly they want to discuss it, they have difficulty. The men oftentimes are also consumed by loss, regret, and a feeling of helplessness about their past.

I’ve heard the sorrow. I’ve heard the grief. I’ve heard the torment, the angst, and the shame. I’ve listened to the regret, the guilt, the helplessness. I’ve seen the tears, the emotional blockades, the defense mechanisms. Still more, I’ve heard women who have been silenced by the pain and the hurt. They have learned they cannot speak out, and so they have kept their stories to themselves. They have been silent for years, sometimes decades. It’s tragic. It’s heartbreaking. It’s eye-opening.

The hurting women and men with Silent No More may have denied their babies a voice, but, through their pain, they are using their voices to give other babies a chance at life. And their stories — which also are the stories of their unborn babies — deserve to be heard.

Hundreds of Thousands March to Protest Legalized Abortion in Argentina

By Lianne Laurence
Life Site News

Hundreds of thousands of Argentinians filled the streets in 200 cities across the predominantly Catholic country on Palm Sunday to march for life and against a bill to legalize abortion now before its national Congress.

While 50,000 marched in the capital Buenos Aires — formerly the diocese of Pope Francis — other cities reported crowds of up to 20,000 participants in the “Great Rally for Life” under the theme “save them both,” according to the Catholic online magazine Crux.

One participant tweeted there were “literally millions throughout the country.”

MILLONES DE ARGENTINOS NO NOS VAMOS A QUEDAR DE BRAZOS CRUZADOS SIN DEFENDER LA VIDA
Hoy literalmente fuimos millones en todo el país

Although the Catholic Church did not organize the march, more than 70 Catholic bishops took part either in person or on social media.

The Alliance of Evangelical Churches of Argentina also promoted the event, which included offers in some locations of free ultrasounds for pregnant women and collections of donations for charities that help mothers in distress, Crux reported.

For 20 years, Argentina has celebrated the National Day of the Unborn Child on March 25, which is also the Feast of the Annunciation, when Catholics mark the Virgin Mary’s “yes” to becoming the Mother of God and the conception of Jesus Christ in her womb.

This year, however, the march for life took place as Argentina’s lower house, the Chamber of Deputies, debates a bill to allow abortion on demand in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.

The bill will also permit abortion “until the ninth month in three situations,” Crux reported: “When the pregnancy is product of rape (abortion under those circumstances is already legal in Argentina); when the life of the mother is at risk either physically (which is already decriminalized) or psychologically; and in cases of genetic malformation of the child.”

Awesome Video Has Young Students Explain Why They’re Pro-Life

By Kelsey Harkness
Life News

This year, more than 100,000 people gathered in the nation’s capital to participate in the annual March for Life. Among them were many high school and college-aged students who support stricter laws on abortion or outlawing the procedure completely.

In The Daily Signal’s latest video, we ask some of these students to explain to the American public why they traveled from near and far to support life.

Raising a Banner to Save Baby Girls in China at March for Life D.C.

National Right to Life

Women’s Rights Without Frontiers will carry an 8-foot banner to “End Gendercide” – the sex-selective abortion of baby girls — in China, at the March for Life today in Washington, D.C.
“The United States has about one million abortions a year,” Reggie Littlejohn, President of Women’s Rights Without Frontiers, stated. “For every abortion we have in the United States, China as 23. China has an incomprehensible 23 million abortions a year – many of them forced, mostly of baby girls. The greatest hemorrhage of human life in the world today is flowing out of China.”
Women are still pressured to abort or abandon baby girls, even under China’s Two-Child Policy. For example, it was reported that a Chinese woman from Anhui Province died after her husband pressured her into aborting four pregnancies in a year, because he wanted a son. The couple already had a four-year-old daughter.

After the Two-Child Policy was instituted on January 1, 2016, they decided to have a second child, which the husband determined would be a boy. When the woman became ill because of the repeated abortions, her husband divorced her. She used the divorce settlement money (approximately U.S. $2500) to seek hospital treatment, but then died. Her husband did not visit her in the hospital and was planning on marrying another woman at the time of the report.

Littlejohn continued, “My heart breaks for this woman, pressured into four abortions by her husband, then left to die from the trauma – all because he wanted a son! Brutal son preference remains in China, and as I had predicted, the sex-selective abortion of baby girls continues under the Two-Child Policy. Second daughters are still aborted or abandoned.”

According to one U.N. estimate, up to 200 million women are missing in the world today because of sex-selective abortion. This gendercide has created a gender imbalance in China, where there are an estimated 37 million more males living than females. This gender imbalance is in turn driving human trafficking and sexual slavery, within China and from the surrounding countries.
“This should be an issue about which pro-life and pro-choice can agree,” Littlejohn stated. “No one supports forced abortion, because it’s not a choice. And what serious women’s rights advocate can defend the sex-selective abortion of girls?”

What If I Weren’t Here?

By Faith
Shared with permission by the March for Life

When my mother was pregnant with me, she thought she had miscarried several times. Upon running some prenatal diagnostic tests, her doctor revealed that I had a high likelihood of being born with a chromosomal disorder, such as Down Syndrome.

Delivery itself, the doctor cautioned my mom, could kill her. Why risk leaving 2 healthy kids motherless? Why cause her husband this pain…for a defect like me? Abortion was clearly the only “smart choice.”

My mom named me Faith because she chose life. She recognized my inherent dignity. She trusted God had a plan for me, regardless of my abilities or disabilities. And thank God she did.

Twenty years later, I can’t help but wonder if anyone would have noticed if I weren’t here. Twenty years later, I’m able to speak for the silent who never got their chance.

The pro-life movement is a chance to reflect on that “what if.” What if I weren’t here? What if YOU weren’t here? I can’t help but think about the countless people I could’ve known, but don’t–and how close I was to joining their ranks. I’m glad to be here. I’m glad to have been the exception.

I mourn for those like me who never had the chance to share a story with a happy ending. I march for them. I march because I could have been them. I march because I’m here…and they’re not.

Catholic Bishop: “Abortion is a Uniquely Intimate Form of Violence With Bitter Public Consequences”

By Archbishop Charles Chaput
Life News

The “March for Life” this January, like every January over the past several decades, reminds the nation that killing an unborn child is never a private matter. Abortion is a uniquely intimate form of violence – but violence with bitter public consequences. Catholics eagerly join the March for Life each year because we believe in the God of life and joy; a God who creates every human being with innate dignity and rights, including above all the right to life.

What we really believe, we conform our lives to. And if we don’t at least try to conform our lives to what we claim to believe, then we’re fooling only ourselves, because God cannot be fooled. When we claim to be “Catholic” but then don’t advance our beliefs about the sanctity of the human person as the basis of law, it means one of two things. We’re either very confused, or we’re very evasive.

All law involves the imposition of somebody’s beliefs about the nature of truth, charity and justice on everyone else. That’s the reason we have marches, debates, elections and Congress–to peacefully turn the struggle of ideas and moral convictions into laws that guide our common life. …

There’s a very old Christian expression that goes like this: “Hope has two beautiful daughters. Their names are anger and courage; anger at the way things are, and courage to see that they do not remain the way they are.”

Are we troubled enough about what’s wrong with the world — the killing of millions of unborn children through abortion; the neglect of the poor, the disabled and the elderly? Do we really have the courage of our convictions to change those things?
The opposite of hope is cynicism, and cynicism also has two daughters. Their names are indifference and cowardice. In renewing ourselves in our faith, what Catholics need to change most urgently is the lack of courage we find in our own personal lives, in our national political life, and sometimes even within the Church herself.

Every year in these weeks between the end of Christmas and the beginning of Lent, I reflect on what the Church means when she talks about the season of “ordinary time.”

Ordinary time is where we spend most of our lives — raising families, doing our jobs, helping others, making the daily choices that shape the world around us. Ordinary time is the space God gives us to make a difference with our lives. What we do with that ordinary time — in our personal choices and in our public actions — matters eternally.

Pro-Life Leader Invites Pro-Abortion ‘Out of Touch’ Canadian Prime Minister to March for Life

By Katie Yoder
National Right to Life

On Friday, more than 100,000 Americans are expected to march in the nation’s capital to celebrate life and condemn abortion. While the networks often overlook the March for Life, it exemplifies the strength and youth of the pro-life movement – something one leader wants the Canadian prime minister to grasp.

March for Life President Jeanne Mancini appeared on Fox & Friends Monday to discuss Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s recent comments attacking the pro-life movement – and invited him to attend the march to “see who’s really out of touch with mainstream America.”

To begin the segment, Fox co-hosts Rachel Campos-Duffy and Brian Kilmeade played a clip of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau bashing pro-life groups.
“An organization that has the explicit purpose of restricting women’s rights by removing rights to abortion is not in line with where we are as a government, quite frankly where we are as a society,” Trudeau declared Wednesday during an Ontario town hall.
Campos-Duffy and Kilmeade turned to Mancini for a reaction. She stressed that he was “out of touch.”
“He doesn’t need to look far to see that eight out of 10 Americans for the last 10 years have wanted to limit abortion more than it’s limited, at least in the United States,” Mancini responded, likely citing a Marist/Knights of Columbus poll.
To see for himself, she invited him to the 45th annual March for Life held later
this month, on Jan. 19.
“I’d love to extend an invitation to the prime minister to come to the March for Life on Friday, because he will see who’s really out of touch with mainstream America,” she continued.
Held in Washington, D.C., the March for Life condemns abortion around the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, which legalized abortion in this country. Regardless of the weather, the march regularly attracts tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands from across the country.

For her part, Campos-Duffy found Trudeau’s comments “ironic” because the March for Life is a “young movement” as well as a “pro-science movement.” Mancini agreed.
“It’s pro-science. It’s pro-love,” Mancini stressed. “And you’re right, Rachel, it’s primarily young people.”
She went on to urge that the March for Life, the “largest human rights demonstration that happens annually around the world” is “45 years strong.”
“It’s astounding when you consider that we’ve lost over 60 million Americans to abortion,” Mancini concluded. “And to the prime minister, I just would really want to talk to him about, this is the most significant human rights abuse of today.”

President Donald Trump Will Address March for Life, First President to Speak Via Live Video Feed

By Steven Ertelt
Life News

President Donald Trump will address the March for Life on Friday in live remarks to hundreds of thousands of pro-life people attending the event from across the country. Trump is keeping a tradition alive that’s seen previous presidents taking a pro-life position making similar phone calls to encourage pro-life advocates to continue fighting against abortion.

President Trump will become the first president to speak to the March for Life via a live video feed. Presidents Ronald Reagan, George Bush, and George W Bush all addressed the March for Life as well with pro-life remarks. There remarks were typically pre-taped or they were aired via a live phone call to March for Life participants. With better technology available today, a live video stream is more easily accomplished.

President Trump was supposed to send remarks to the March for Life last year but did not do so because ice President Mike Pence and Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway were slated to speak at the event to represent the White House.

Last year Trump called out the mainstream media for essentially ignoring the March for Life.

From LifeNews’ report then:

Wednesday night was a major first for Donald Trump as ABC aired his very first interview as the president of the United States. The interview questions ranged from immigration policy to what carpet he chose for the Oval Office (Ronald Reagan’s), but things got awkward for interviewer David Muir when he tried to stick Trump with questions about the Women’s March on Saturday, “Let me just ask you while we’re standing outside, could you hear the voices from the Women’s March here in Washington.”

“No, I couldn’t hear them. The crowds were large, but you will have a large crowd on Friday, too, which is mostly pro-life people,” Trump informed Muir before hammering him for the media’s long history of blatantly ignoring the annual March for Life in Washington, DC:
"You’re going to have a lot of people coming on Friday. And I will say this, and I didn’t realize this. But I was told. You will have a very large crowd of people. I don’t know as large or larger. Some people said it will be larger. Pro-life people and they say the press doesn’t cover them."

TV Networks Spent Only 24 Minutes Covering March for Life Over Past 5 Years, New Study Shows

For the first time in history, the president is addressing the March for Life live via satellite. But does that mean that the media, who report on his every tweet, will finally give the pro-life marchers – and the millions of unborn they stand for – the coverage they deserve?

On Friday, more than 100,000 Americans are expected to attend the 45th March for Life. The rally condemns abortion around the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, which legalized abortion in the U.S. But while the largest annual march in Washington, D.C. regularly attracts crowds from across the country, it’s frequently misrepresented or even censored by many in the media.

During their morning and evening news shows for the past five years, the broadcast networks have offered fewer than 24 minutes to the March for Life. To put that in perspective, the three networks spent more than three times that on the Women’s March in 2017 alone.

Abortion is one of the most controversial issues facing America, yet from 2013 to 2017, ABC, CBS and NBC combined have spent a mere 23 minutes, 45 seconds on the March for Life during their news shows.

Most of that coverage, 21 minutes, 52 seconds of it, came during last year’s March for Life in 2017. That was largely due to President Donald Trump’s influence. Trump, who had promised to appoint a pro-life Supreme Court justice, sent Vice President Mike Pence and White House counselor Kellyanne Conway to address the March. He also, in an interview with ABC anchor David Muir just days before the event, called out the media for ignoring the march in years prior.

The president knew what he was talking about. Before 2017, the network coverage was next to nothing. In 2016, the networks devoted an embarrassing 35 seconds (22 seconds following the march, 13 seconds beforehand) to the event. The previous year, only CBS mentioned the march, allotting just 15 seconds in 2015.

In 2014, the networks devoted 46 seconds to the hundreds of thousands marching in Washington, D.C. Yet, ABC, NBC and CBS spent six times that on the National Zoo’s new panda cub and four-and-a-half times that on the Climate March.

For 2013, the march attracted a mere 17 seconds from the network news shows.

That makes up the total of 23 minutes, 45 seconds over five years. In contrast, the nets gifted 1 hour, 15 minutes, 18 seconds in one year fawning over the pro-abortion Women’s March in January 2017.

In response to the scarce coverage, the Media Research Center, along with other pro-life organizations, formed an Alliance for Fair Coverage of Life Issues in 2016 to demand the media “live up to the standards of journalistic integrity by covering life issues.”

The March for Life News Peg

The media have no excuse for ignoring the 45th annual March for Life on January 19. According to pro-life news outlets, President Donald Trump will address marchers live from the White House via satellite – the very first president to do so.

Martin Luther King Jr.’s Niece: “My Uncle Would Have Been Very Pro-Life”

By Rachel Del Guidice
The Daily Signal

Martin Luther King Jr.’s niece says her uncle’s legacy as a civil rights leader has a strong impact on the pro-life movement today.
“As the niece of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and I emphasize the ‘reverend’ because history has not always recorded his spiritual aspects … I have been mostly impacted by his messages of unity, of racial reconciliation, of course nonviolence, and the strongest has always been and will always be for me the agape love message,” Alveda King told The Daily Signal in an interview Friday.
“One of the things that we would say [is], ‘We must learn to live together as brothers,’ and I’ll add, as sisters, ‘or perish together as fools.’”
Alveda King, director of Civil Rights for the Unborn for Priests for Life, said her uncle’s words show his commitment to respect for life.
“He said the Negro cannot win if he is willing to sacrifice the futures of his children for immediate personal comfort and safety,” King said. “Abortion, of course, forces us to do exactly that.”
King, who formerly served in the Georgia state House of Representatives and was a college professor, said she had two abortions herself.
“I actually had a miscarriage that was related to those abortions during my younger life, and so of course through the years I have become a born-again Christian, repented, and been healed and delivered, but I always think about those words from my uncle,” King said.
Martin Luther King Jr.’s widow, Coretta Scott King, received an award from Planned Parenthood in 1996 on behalf of her husband, but Alveda King says she knows her uncle would not have believed in the mission of Planned Parenthood:

His wife accepted that in his stead, because she was like me, she had accepted that agenda without understanding, I believe, but my uncle would have been very pro-life today.

The 31st annual March for Life in Washington will take place Jan. 19, and King said her uncle’s crusade for civil rights applies to the pro-life movement today.
“I really believe that if my uncle were here today, he would encourage us to find solutions to the problems, even women’s problems, and all problems, without having to do violence to babies in the womb. I am just convinced that he would agree with that,” she said.

Jeanne Mancini: Young People Know Abortion Hurts Women, Takes Life of Baby, and Damages Our Culture

By John Hayward
Breitbart News

March for Life President Jeanne Mancini talked about gains made by the pro-life movement, and the work that still needs to be done, on Friday’s Breitbart News Daily with SiriusXM host Alex Marlow.
“In a lot of ways, the pro-life movement is winning,” Mancini said. “There are lots of markers that are showing this: the number of abortions are actually down, the rate of women getting abortions are down. Perhaps more importantly, abortion clinics are down, pregnancy care centers are up.”
“We’re going to talk a little bit about how we change hearts and minds, how we work towards the time when abortion is unthinkable, and how the March for Life has been helpful in that over the years. We’re actually heading into our 45th March for Life this year,” she noted.

Marlow found the “happy warriors” of the March for Life to be an inspiring counter to our increasingly cynical political culture.
“I think it’s really the product of abortion. More than ever, young people see through bunk,” Mancini reflected. “They are aware that abortion hurts women, that it obviously takes the life of a baby, and that it’s a product that has really done so much damage to our culture. They see that.”
“I agree, there’s something that’s so attractive about the young people at the March for Life,” she told Marlow. “We’re not the only ones that think that. There was a wonderful story a few years ago, the head of NARAL—pro-choice America, really the architects of legal abortion in America—came out around lunchtime the day of the March for Life and saw all of the young, enthusiastic, positive, happy marchers. She decided to resign, thinking that they needed to do a better job marketing to young people. So they have now a new, younger head.”

They really need to change the product. It’s not their marketing that’s got a problem. It’s the product that they’re trying to sell,” she said.
