China Discovers the Value of Children—400 Million Lives Later

The Chinese Communist Party has never been much concerned about the human cost of the massive social engineering programs they have engaged in...

By Steven W. Mosher
National Right to Life

Editor’s note. This is adapted from a talk Mr. Mosher gave Thursday evening at NRLC 2018 convention.

My introduction to the one-child policy came in a dusty rural clinic in South China in 1980. Hundreds of local women had been arrested in the people’s commune I was living in, charged with the crime of being pregnant, then handed over to army doctors for assembly-line abortions. The sight of women 6, 8 and even 9 months pregnant being delivered of dead babies by cesarean-section is one that I—and they—are unlikely ever to forget.

Local officials explained to me that the Chinese Communist Party, then led by Deng Xiaoping, had decided that China was overpopulated. “Use whatever means you must to control China’s population,” Deng had reportedly instructed senior officials. “Just do it. With the support of the Party you have nothing to fear.”

Party officials have been “just doing it” to women ever since. Each year for the past 38 years—in the longest running political campaign in PRC history—they have arrested, fined, aborted, and sterilized millions of women for violating the rules governing childbearing.

The policy is known in China as “Planned Birth,” which every Chinese woman alive understands to mean … the Party, not you, will decide how many children you have and when you will have them. And each of the Party leaders that followed Deng, from Jiang Zemin to Hu Jintao and now Xi Jinping, likewise believed that China’s path to greatness depended upon keeping the wombs of Chinese women empty. Up to recently, they even bragged about having eliminated 400 million people from their population.

Now comes word that the Party is poised to abandon birth restrictions. Perhaps as early as the end of the year, Beijing will announce that Chinese women are free to have as many children as they wish.

Why is President for Life Xi Jinping doing this? Has he heard, as I did, the cries of China’s women? Is he appalled by the slaughter of tens of millions of infant girls by infanticide and abortion? Is he disturbed by the sight of the resulting “excess” men, 30 million strong, roaming China’s cities and towns, and the explosion of sex trafficking and other crimes that have followed?

I suspect that the answer is, “none of the above.” The Chinese Communist Party has never been much concerned about the human cost of the massive social engineering programs they have engaged in, from the Great Leap Forward to the One Child Policy.

The consequence of the Great Leap Forward was the death by starvation of 42 million people. The consequences of the One Child Policy are an order of magnitude larger. That policy has eliminated, by forced abortion and infanticide, of 400 million children.

China, you see, has turned Malthus’ “dismal theorem” on its head. Instead of population growth outpacing food production, as Malthus predicted, in China we see the opposite. There, it is population control that is undermining the economy.

What happens when you eliminate 400 million of the most productive, enterprising people in the world? Nothing good.

Jahi McMath Dies, Years After Doctors Called Her “Brain Dead” and Refused to Treat Her

Jahi McMath
By Micaiah Bilger
Life News

Jahi McMath, the young California teen who lived for five years after doctors called her “brain dead,” died on June 22 from liver failure.

McMath’s story rose to national attention almost five years ago after she suffered complications during a routine surgery in December 2013. Doctors declared Jahi brain dead, but her family fought to keep the hospital from taking the then-13-year-old off a ventilator. After a public battle ensued, the family moved Jahi to another hospital where three doctors signed declarations stating that she was not brain dead.

The young woman’s family announced her death this week. Her mother, Nailah Winkfield, said Jahi died of excessive bleeding and liver failure after she had an operation for an intestinal problem, CBS News reports.

Bobby Schindler, president of the Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network, expressed his condolences.
“We fought for Jahi, her family, and her rights ever since her 2013 brain injury,” Schindler said. “Jahi lived for nearly five years after being declared dead thanks to the love and care of her mother. The way that Jahi, Nailah, and her family were treated by some physicians since 2013 has been a scandal; a case study in the human cost of elitist and bureaucratic disregard for a patient who needed care.”
Schindler, whose sister Terri Schiavo was at the center of a similar debate more than a decade ago, said the brain death criteria for death was formulated 50 years ago, but it still is being debated today.

His organization advocates for revisions that allow for patients who may be experiencing severe coma, minimal consciousness, or other extraordinary behavior to still have a chance at treatment and care.
“After Jahi was ruled to be brain dead, she and her family found themselves in an incredible situation wherein Jahi was considered legally dead in California, but legally alive in New Jersey … Nailah Winkfield and Jahi’s entire family fought for nearly five years on the grounds that Jahi exhibited behavior inconsistent with the brain death diagnosis. Jahi was not only still alive, but may have benefited from treatment and rehabilitative care,” Schindler said.
“We will continue to advocate in Jahi’s memory for revisions to the ‘brain death’ criteria to ensure that patients who don’t meet the criteria in the future won’t be denied all care,” he continued.
Winkfield said she believes her daughter was still alive for those five years that they fought for her. She said she watched Jahi wiggle her fingers and toes.

In 2016, her family said Jahi’s body had not deteriorated as is typical with brain dead patients on life support, and she was able to breathe on her own. A video showed her taking 14 to 15 breaths on her own in one minute at the prompting of her mother.
“Jahi wasn’t brain dead or any kind of dead,” Winkfield said. “She was a girl with a brain injury and she deserved to be cared for like any other child who had a brain injury.”
In 2014 and again in 2017, world-renowned neurologist Dr. Alan Shewmon also testifiedthat McMath was not brain dead.

Though they are mourning, Winkfield said she feels contented knowing that she did everything she could to fight for Jahi’s life.
“These last four-and-a-half years have not been easy,” she said. “I can go to sleep knowing I did everything possible for my kid and no one can take that away from me.”

When the 26-Week Abortion Failed the Abortionist Left Her for Dead. But She Survived.

By Dave Andrusko
Life News

Hats off to the planners of the opening two general sessions of NRLC 2018, the three-day convention that kicks off today just outside of Kansas City, Kansas. Each session reinforced the already considerable power of the other.

As we discussed elsewhere today, in the first General Session, Dr. George Delgado explained in easily accessible language how “APR” (Abortion Pill Reversal) works to give women a second chance should they decide in mid-stream not to complete a chemical abortion. Hundreds of babies have already been saved because their mothers did not take the second of two drugs and instead were administered progesterone.

These are “abortion survivors.”

So, too, in a different way are Sarah Zagorski, Dan Compton, and Melissa Ohden, who spoke at “The Human Face of Abortion” General Session. Their stories are riveting and illustrate that while not common, there are abortion survivors whose living testimonies often leave pro-abortionists speechless.

Melissa survived a saline abortion in 1977. Her mother was told she was 20 weeks along when the truth was she was more like 30 weeks. Melissa pointed out that just last weekend she’d been interviewed by a pro-choice feminist historian at a woman’s conference.

During the conversation, the idea that abortion was, or can be, “merciful” was floated. But what could the historian say when Melissa pointed to the nurses and others in the NICU who refused to allow her to be neglected—that was merciful, not attempting to kill her. Or to the husband and children Melissa had that she wouldn’t, had the abortionist not “failed”?

Dan’s “abortion survivor” story is so complicated he only had time to touch on a few twists and turns. Raised in a Godly family, Dan chose to rebel and wasted a decade in alcohol and drug abuse.

His spiritual transformation is, in many ways, no less miraculous than the “rest of the story” about his birth that he did not learn about until he was an adult. For whatever reason, one of the most notorious late-term abortionists in the world, the late George Tiller, would not abort Dan’s mother. Not only did Tiller allow Dan’s mother to stay at his home until it was time, he delivered Dan!

Of course, Dan said he could not reconcile that action with Tiller’s 50,000 abortions or “why me?” and not all the others. But he is alive, a husband and a father and “because I was given life there is a whole line of people who will exist as a result.”

Sarah Zagorski —another abortion survivor. Her mother was mentally ill and already had seven children when she became pregnant with Sarah. At 26 weeks she went to an abortionist who “unsuccessfully” aborted Sarah.

As she explained to the audience, she was delivered alive and the abortionist encouraged her mother to leave her for dead (she was not breathing when she was born). But her mother refused and instead fought for her life.

Her story of her chaotic upbringing, her years in the foster care system, fortunately ended in adoption. Sarah lives a purposeful life, with a husband and children, and Special Projects Director for Louisiana Right to Life. As Sarah told the audience, all this was made possible because of the “gift” her mother gave her, a mother who lived in poverty and who battled mental illness.

President Donald Trump: Unborn Babies Have a “Basic and Fundamental Human Right, the Right to Life”

By Steven Ertelt
Life News

President Donald Trump today issued a letter to the National to Life Committee as hundreds of pro-life advocates gather to open its national convention today in Kansas City.

In his letter to the pro-life advocates, President Trump made it clear that he believes unborn children have a fundamental right to life.
“We all have a duty to defend the most basic and fundamental human right — the right to life. As President I am dedicated to protecting the lives of every American including the unborn,” Trump wrote.
The President also defended his pro-life record talking about the accomplishments he has made sense being elected president. Some of those accomplishments include defunding the international Planned Parenthood abortion business as well as signing legislation to make it easier for states to defund the abortion giant. He has also redirected taxpayer funds from the abortion company’s sex-ed programs to legitimate women’s health centers.
“Since my first day in office I have taken concrete actions to defend the right to life. One of the first actions I took as President was to reinstate the Mexico City policy to ensure the taxpayer dollars are not used to fund organizations that perform abortions in foreign countries. I also signed into law legislation that allows states to prioritize how they spend their family planning grant money, giving States the choice to withhold taxpayer funding from organizations that perform abortions.
Further, last month my Administration proposed updates to the regulations governing the Title X Family Planning program in order to improve Women’s Health and ensure that federal funds are not used to fund the abortion industry in violation of law.”

The president concluded by thanking the hundreds of pro-life advocates gathered at the National Right to Life convention for their efforts protecting babies from abortion.

He wrote:

“The National Right to Life Committee’s work is critical to protecting our nation’s most vulnerable. Since 1968 you have provided a voice to the voiceless. Each day you help spread compassion and promote the dignity of every human person. I am truly grateful for your efforts and I remain committed to continue working with you as we cultivate a world that values and regards every human life.”

1,500 Canadian Organizations Have Been Denied Grants for Refusing to Support Abortion

By Nancy Flanders
Live Action News

A new requirement from the Canadian government mandating support for abortion is causing countless organizations to find alternative ways to hire summer employees or shut down altogether. The Canada Summer Jobs Program has long been the way that many organizations across Canada have been able to create summer jobs for Canadian teenagers.

Museums, churches, and camps have all enjoyed the benefit of hiring summer help that the grant money allowed them. Now, however, more than 1,500 of those organizations have been denied their funding for refusing to check off a box on the application that says they support abortion. If the box is left unchecked, the application will be considered incomplete, and therefore, automatically denied funding.
“The government is saying, ‘We’re right and you’re wrong and that’s that. Believe what we believe or don’t bother to apply for money,” Daniel Peacock of Camp Jordan in Nova Scotia, a Baptist-run camp that has relied on $4,000 in federal grant money to hire a student camp counselor for the last four years, told CBC News. “Our Baptist foundation told us that unless we check the box off, we would be ignored.”
At least 50 organizations in Nova Scotia alone were denied their funding because they didn’t check off the box. CBC News is reporting that across Canada, over 1,500 organizations have lost funding to hire summer employees because they won’t agree to the assertation.

Community Pentecostal Church in Orléans hires students each summer to run programs including an arts camp, a Bible school, and a free barbecue and block party for more than 1,500 people.

“We couldn’t hold our integrity and check off the box about the reproductive rights,” said Jeff Hillier, lead pastor at the church. “[…] The fact that monies would be withheld from us based upon not agreeing with our prime minister’s position to me is appalling. I’m quite concerned about the freedom of religion and where this will lead us.”
Lawyer and director of legal affairs at the Canadian Council of Christian Charities, Barry Bussey told CBC News that the government’s mandate is unconstitutional and violates Section 2a of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms which protects freedom of conscience and religion, as well as Section 2b, which protects freedom of belief and expression and Section 15, the equality right.
“We have received literally hundreds of messages from our membership who are very upset about the treatment they’ve received from the government with respect to this,” he said. “Many of them want to pursue a court action.”
In addition to faith-based camps, the Bruno Cherry Sunday set for August 12 was affected by the new rule, canceling the annual event directly because of the new government rule to pledge support for abortion.

Siblings of Children Lost to Abortion Say They Have a ‘Longing to Have Known’ Their Sibling

By Cassy Fiano
Live Action News

A new article at Romper purports to help women who have had abortions break the so-called abortion stigma: by telling their surviving children the stories of their other abortions. The author, Priscilla Blossom, explained that she was already considering how she would, one day, tell her son of her abortion.

“I want him to know, without a shadow of a doubt, that his mother believes in a pregnant person’s right to choose,” she wrote. “I want him to know someone, first-hand, who can talk about abortion, and who doesn’t regret her positive experience. I want him to know that if he should ever know someone who is in need of an abortion or considering one, that I can be a trusted individual and, moreover, a resource. I want him to grow up acknowledging everyone’s bodily autonomy (something we already practice via lessons in consent). And a conversation about my abortion experience will help me facilitate all of these messages and lessons.”

One mom said that the story of her miscarriage gave her children nightmares, making her realize that she couldn’t tell them about her abortion — yet she said she worried that not telling them violated her “work values,” as she works as an abortion activist. Another mom explained that she wrote an “open letter” to her children that was about to be published online, so she let them read it first and admitted that she had an abortion as well. Another said she chose abortion because her marriage was going well.

“I explained (truthfully) that while I still had baby fever after having had her, I got pregnant at a time when her dad and I were doing really well and focusing on our own relationship,” she wrote. “It was not a good time for us to have another child.”
READ: Abortion affects sibling survivors: ‘I miss them although I never knew them’

Noticeably absent is any discussion of how news of prior abortions affected the children. And telling children that you’ve aborted their siblings isn’t a great way to destroy stigma, but is, in fact, cruel. It causes them immense pain — as sibling survivors have explained.

One sibling wrote of the pain they felt after learning of their mother’s abortion.

“We let it drop and I forgot about it,” they wrote. “But I had not really forgotten. I didn’t think about it consciously for years.” They continued that years later:Suddenly I found myself thinking about my little brother! I became disoriented and lost control of the car for a moment as I burst into tears having lost him. I was astounded by my reaction, but I couldn’t shake the sadness and longing to have known him.

Other siblings have similar feelings.

She tells me that she speaks to him sometimes, in her mind and in her dreams. She wonders about the life they would have had growing up together. Would they have fought a lot? Would he have counseled her on boy matters? Would he have scolded her for her overzealous high-school drinking?

She believes that in this other world, she is already an aunt. Her brother would have met a girl. Married her. Had babies my friend would babysit and spoil shamelessly.

She feels cheated. She feels lonelier than an only child should feel.

Feelings of survivor’s guilt are not uncommon, according to Dr. Philip Ney, who says that sibling survivors have “lifelong struggles about existing” after learning that their survival is based on arbitrary decisions on whether a child was wanted or not.

Joe Scarborough Claims VP Mike Pence Doesn’t Follow Bible, Ignores Biblical Admonition to Protect Life

By Scott Whitlock
Life News

The hosts of Morning Joe are angry once again. During a discussion on Tuesday of the policy of separating the children of illegals at the border, Joe Scarborough decided to play Bible expert and wondered if Mike Pence cuts out sections of the Bible (in the style of Thomas Jefferson).

Scarborough angrily lectured: “Mike Pence says he’s a Christian first. That’s fantastic. I’m sure he is. I do wonder if he has Jefferson’s Bible? If he’s cut out Matthew 25? If he’s cut out the part where Jesus actually is asked by disciples who is going to be able to sit on your right hand and who is going to be cast away?”

He continued: “And Jesus goes through the list and he talks about anyone that does this for the least among us is doing it to me. They will be with the sheep. Those who don’t will be tossed out — with the goats.”

Did Scarborough or other MSNBC hosts ever cite the Bible to Hillary Clinton when discussing the Democrat’s rabid support for abortion? Do the words in Matthew 25:40 about “the least of these brothers and sisters” matter in regard to the pro-life cause? And how often do liberals get called out for not living up to the Bible? Are these Democrats guilty of having Jefferson’s Bible?

In the same segment, former Republican strategist Steve Schmidt, who recently left the party, slimed the U.S. as worse than Venezuela and Cuba because they don’t have “internment camps for babies.”

The extraordinary and astounding hypocrisy of it to see the constancy of the assertion of Christian virtue by political leaders in this country who have established internment camps for babies and toddlers. And by the way, I never in a million years thought I would sit here or anywhere and say this. But the difference now between Venezuela and Cuba and the United States is this: Venezuela and Cuba are the countries without internment camps for babies and toddlers.

Hospital Staff Caught Euthanizing Hundreds of Patients: “If a Nurse Didn’t Like You, You Were a Goner”

“Exactly the same cause of death was routinely given by those doctors involved in the “life-shortening” of the mentally incapacitated in Germany in 1939-41.”

By Society for the Protection of Unborn Children
Life News

More details are emerging of the scandal in which at least 450, and probably more than 650, people’s lives were ended as a result of being given dangerous amounts of unnecessary opiates.

Shocking Statistics

The report of The Gosport Independent Panel into Gosport War Memorial Hospital found that only 45% of those administered terminal quantities of diamorphine (which can be appropriate in alleviating severe pain at the very end of life) were said to be in pain. Many of the case studies showed that even where pain was noted, it was not properly assessed, and the effect of medication was not monitored.

In 29% of cases, no reason or rationale was given for prescribing the lethal doses. In 26%, reasons were given that would “rarely, if ever, be regarded as appropriate indications,” such as deterioration, distress, or agitation.

Nurses Euthanising Difficult Patients

Writing in the Times, Dominic Lawson points out that “the ones most likely to get the treatment appeared to be not the sickest, but the most ‘difficult’. As the stepson of one of the victims remarked: ‘If a nurse didn’t like you, you were a goner.'”

This is clear from the testimony of whistle-blower Pauline Spilker, who said: “It appeared to me then and more so now that euthanasia was practised by the nursing staff. I cannot offer an explanation as to why I did not challenge what I saw at that time . . . I feel incredibly guilty.”

Euthanasiast Culture

In addition to the case she described of an 80 year old man who was active and mentally alert but “difficult” there were other cases of tricky patients being quietened with non-clinically indicated opiates. Dr Barton, who was responsible for the prescribing on the wards, defended the use of diamorphine on a lady with dementia who was “not [in] physical pain but not happy, not comfortable, not easy to look after.” Commenting on a report condoning her actions, the panel said:
“This is an extraordinary conclusion, explicitly condoning the use of large doses of diamorphine simply to control symptoms of confusion and agitation, contrary to all relevant guidance.”
Patient with Learning Difficulties Killed

Dominic Lawson highlights a case that he, as the father of an adult with Down’s syndrome, finds particularly shocking – that of 78-year-old Ethel Thurston, who had learning difficulties, and was admitted with a fractured femur.

At another hospital, the doctor assessed her as having the “physical potential to remobilise” and she was admitted to Gosport War Memorial Hospital for rehabilitation, care and mobilisation. Within days, Dr Barton wrote on her notes “please keep comfortable. I am happy for nursing staff to confirm death.”

These euphemistic words appeared on many patients’ records, despite them for the most part being admitted for respite or rehabilitation, not end of life care.

The panel also found that the medical team were putting patients onto end of life pathways without proper consultation with them or their families. (Concerns over practices such as these have been raised in the last few years in connection with the now infamous Liverpool Care Pathway and its successors.)

Where Have We Seen This Before?

Miss Thurston was put on high doses of diamorphine and midazolam (the panel noted that the “starting dose of diamorphine was excessive, at least three times the recommended dose equivalent” and it could find no clinical indication for the drugs at all) and died seven hours later.

The cause was said to be “bronchopneumonia”. Almost all these deaths were attributed to pneumonia, without any further explanation.

As Dominic Lawson notes: “Exactly the same cause of death was routinely given by those doctors involved in the “life-shortening” of the mentally incapacitated in Germany in 1939-41.”

Blogger's Note:  A Holocaust Against Humanity

If a baby is not safe within the shelter of its mother's womb, then no one is safe.

The 'slippery slope" after Roe v. Wade legalized abortion has come to pass. A culture of death is taking root even in the medical community. The Hippocratic Oath has become irrelevant among some in the medical profession.

We are becoming a utilitarian society where only the healthy and productive will be allowed to live. This 'Holocaust against Humanity' is the evil that results when man becomes God.

Wherever God's Truth prevails and His grace, love and power resides in the souls of men, peace reigns in a nation.  Pray for an end to abortion and a return to peace through Christ, the Prince of Peace.

Ohio’s First Abortion Company Closing Columbus Facility After Long Sordid History

Mark Harrington, President
Created Equal

A Columbus, OH abortion company, “Founders Women’s Health Center,” is shutting their doors at 1243 E. Broad St. Founders was the first abortion center in Ohio after abortion was decriminalized in 1973.

“Founders” has a sordid past:

  • Killed thousands of babies – First and foremost, this abortion company has been murdering children for decades causing the deaths of thousands of innocent preborn children.
  • Tax Liens – “Founders Women’s Health Center” owes over one million dollars in taxes to the City of Columbus, State of Ohio, and the Federal Government (IRS).
  • A revoked hospital agreement – Grant Hospital revoked their transfer agreement with the abortion clinic.
  • An uninsured abortionist – Main abortionist has no medical malpractice insurance.
  • Overdue fines – Owes the Ohio Department of Health $40,000 in fines.
  • Injures women – One abortionist perforated the uterus of mother with a non-uterine pregnancy leaving her sterile.
  • Employed a known child sex offender - Dr. Tom Michaelis’ medical license was revoked after he pled guilty to sexual imposition. While employed by Founder’s Women’s Health Center, Michaelis was indicted by the US Attorney on federal child pornography charges.

In just five years, 7 abortion centers have closed in Ohio!

We are grateful for all the hundreds of activists who have prayed, protested and sidewalk counseled outside this abortion center over the decades.

“For time being at least, Columbus, OH will be reduced to having one abortion center. It wasn’t long ago there were seven killing centers in this city of 2 million residents. In 2013, there were 14 abortion centers. Thanks to the faithful efforts of the pro-life community, abortionists are increasingly having difficulty keeping their grisly businesses open.” – Mark Harrington, President, Created Equal

“Abortion is a scourge on our families, our communities, and our moral consciousness. For nearly three decades, Ohio’s first abortion clinic was housed at 1243 E Broad Street, in a building co-owned by three of Ohio’s first abortion providers. The doors of that building are shutting. That is a good thing for this community.” – Beth Vanderkooi, Executive Director, Greater Columbus Right to Life.

We are still gathering information about what next steps, if any, will be taken by this abortion company and will let you know of any further developments.

Supreme Court Strikes Down California Law Forcing Pregnancy Centers to Promote Abortion

"...a government that tells you what you must say—under threat of severe punishment—is alarming.”

By Steven Ertelt
Life News

The Supreme Court has struck down a California law forcing pregnancy centers to promote abortions. The high court decision is a massive victory for pro-life advocates and pregnancy centers that want to provide pro-life options for pregnant women considering abortion without being forced to promote abortions.

The Supreme Court heard oral arguments earlier this year in National Institute of Family and Life Advocates v. Becerra, a lawsuit brought by pregnancy centers that don’t want to be compelled to advertise abortions. They say the California Reproductive FACT Act violates the free speech clause in the First Amendment.

Today, the nation’s highest court struck down the law, saying it “likely violates the First Amendment.” Justice Clarence Thomas wrote the opinion for the 5-4 majority in which Chief Justice Roberts and Justices Kennedy, Alito and Gorsuch joined. The four abortion advocates, Justices Breyer, Ginsburg, Sotomayor and Kagan ruled that pregnancy centers can be forced to promote abortions.
“The licensed notice is a content-based regulation. By compelling petitioners to speak a particular message, it “alters the content of [their] speech,'” the Supreme Court added.
Thomas wrote that “the people lose when the government is the one deciding which ideas should prevail…. This Court’s precedents are deeply skeptical of laws that ‘distinguis[h] among different speakers, allowing speech by some but not others.’”

Tuesday’s ruling from the Supreme Court could impact similar pro-abortion anti-free-speech laws enacted in other states, including Hawaii and Illinois.

Alliance Defending Freedom President, CEO, and General Counsel MichaelFarris told LifeNews he was delighted by the decision.
“No one should be forced by the government to express a message that violates their convictions, especially on deeply divisive subjects such as abortion,” said Farris. “In this case, the government used its power to force pro-life pregnancy centers to provide free advertising for abortion. The Supreme Court said that the government can’t do that, and that it must respect pro-life beliefs.”
“Tolerance and respect for good-faith differences of opinion are essential in a diverse society like ours,” Farris added. “They enable us to coexist peacefully with one another. If we want to have freedom for ourselves, we have to extend it to others.”
NIFPA president Thomas Glessner also was happy about today’s ruling.
“The right of free speech protected in the First Amendment not only includes the right to speak, but also the right to not be compelled by government to speak a message with which one disagrees and which violates one’s conscience,” said Glessner in comments to LifeNews.
“The court correctly found that the California law clearly offends this principle. We are very pleased with the court’s decision and for what it means for the many pro-life centers that serve and empower women in California and throughout the country.”
Farris argued in court on behalf of the pregnancy centers.
“Today, before the United States Supreme Court justices, I argued on behalf of the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates that the California law forcing pro-life pregnancy centers to advertise for abortions is unlawful government-compelled expression,” he told LifeNews after the oral arguments.
“A government that tells you what you can’t say is dangerous, but a government that tells you what you must say—under threat of severe punishment—is alarming.”

Watch Pro-Abortion Irish Politicians Squirm When Asked About Abortion

IRELAND, May 14, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – Doing what the liberal media refuse to do, a courageous Irish man asked the politicians who support repealing his country's pro-life Eighth Amendment a few basic questions on abortion.
They either gave vague answers or wouldn't say anything at all.

Without Adoption, Many Wouldn’t Be Here

By Maria Gallagher

My co-worker surprised me one day by asking, “Did you see what’s on your cup?”

I turned the red paper cup around and looked at the wording imprinted on it. It stated, “Face it. Without adoption, Wendy’s wouldn’t be here.”

I knew it to be true. The founder of Wendy’s, the late Dave Thomas, had been adopted as a child. As an adult, after building a successful nationwide restaurant chain, he became a tireless advocate for adoption.

Think about it. Consider the jobs that would have been lost, the relationships that never would have formed. The people who would not have had Dave Thomas to look up to as a mentor and a business leader, were it not for adoption. Just one child. One story. One adoption.

Multiply that by the many, many people whose families have been formed by adoption. A dear friend of mine recently adopted a little girl who is the love of her life. A colleague’s family has been happily expanded through adoption. And my own family has been richly blessed as a result of adoption.

Adoption saves and enhances lives. It forms strong families who greatly enrich our communities and our country. It is a life-giving alternative to the hopelessness of abortion.

So I would like to raise my cup and toast all those families whose lives have been forever changed by adoption. Your courageous, heroic witness inspires those who love and admire you.

Texas Governor Promises to Honor Pro-Life Teen’s Dying Wish and ‘Outlaw Abortion’

“Let’s end this holocaust in the mighty Name of Jesus.”

The Governor of Texas has promised a pro-life teen dying from cancer that he will “outlaw abortion altogether in the state of Texas.”

Governor Greg Abbott, 60, called his constituent Jeremiah Thomas as the teen lay in the cancer ward of a children’s hospital. The Governor was connected to the teen through “Make a Wish,” a program that allows young people who are terminally ill to fulfill a personal dream. Many children choose to meet a personal hero, like a sports star. Thomas decided to use his "wish" to reach out to the governor and ask him to do something to end the killing of preborn babies.

Jeremiah asked the Governor to treat abortion “like an act of murder.”
“For my wish, I wanted to talk to you and discuss a bill of abolition [to end abortion]” he said
Jeremiah told the governor that a recent poll showed that 68% of [Republican] Texans want abortion abolished.
“Sir, you would be representing the demands of Texans if you would pass this bill,” he said.
“We could end abortion here and now.”
The boy’s face lit up at the governor's response, which was recorded on video and uploaded to Facebook.
“Your wish is on the Republican party platform position,” Governor Abbott said, “and we’re going to be pursuing this…And that is to outlaw abortion altogether in the state of Texas”

“So, your wish is granted,” he added.
Jeremiah Thomas, 16, was an all-star, state champion athlete when he was diagnosed with cancer in March 2018. His father Rusty, the director of pro-life group Operation Save America (formerly known as Operation Rescue), has been reporting from his son’s bedside, not only to ask for lifesaving prayers, but to witness to his son’s love for God.

Jeremiah was diagnosed with osteoblastic osteosarcoma, a bone cancer that is resistant to radiation therapy. The boy had two tumors on his spine and one on his chest. The cancer progressed, defeating treatment. Jeremiah has now become paralyzed from the waist down and is in constant pain. From the very beginning, he had only a 10% chance of survival.

PPFA of Pennsylvania Pledges to Invest $1.5 million to Re-Elect Pro-Abortion Governor

Senator Scott Wagner, Wolf's opponent, had a 100 percent pro-life voting record while serving in the PA state legislature.

The political arm of the nation’s largest abortion operation plans to spend a record-setting amount of money in the campaign leading up to the November election in Pennsylvania.

The political action committee of Planned Parenthood in the Keystone State has announced it will invest $1.5 million in the Governor’s race and other campaigns throughout the Commonwealth.

Spokeswoman Sari Stevens said in a news release that Governor Tom Wolf is “…a brick wall against efforts to roll back health care access and rights of Pennsylvanians.”

That is code language for “the Governor has never met an abortion restriction he liked.”

Wolf has come to be known as the most pro-abortion governor in Pennsylvania history. This is especially disconcerting, given the legacy of the late Governor Robert Casey, Sr.

Robert Casey, Sr. famously challenged the Democratic Party with his principled pro-life stand. (He is not to be confused with his pro-abortion son, a United States senator.)

Gov. Wolf once volunteered as a clinic escort at a Planned Parenthood facility. He is famous—infamous, actually—for rejecting a bill that would have banned the outrageous practice of dismemberment abortion, where a living preborn baby is torn limb by limb from a mother’s womb.

His staff has also indicated that he would veto House Bill 2050, the Down Syndrome Protection Act, if it comes across his desk. House Bill 2050 would ban abortion for the sole reason of a Down syndrome diagnosis. The bill passed the House of Representatives by an overwhelming, bipartisan, veto-proof margin and is now pending in the state Senate.

In contrast, Wolf’s Republican opponent, former state Senator Scott Wagner, had a 100 percent pro-life voting record during his tenure in the state legislature. Wagner also pushed for enforcement of the state’s abortion center regulation law and sponsored a bus to the March for Life in Washington, D.C.

Faith Chose Life for Her Son Thanks to a Pregnancy Resource Center

Faith and Noah joined Pregnancy Resource Center of Rolla at the Walk for Life

For women facing unplanned and crisis pregnancies, a pregnancy resource center can be the ultimate lifeline when someone feels like they’re drowning. At 21 years of age and still in school, pregnancy and motherhood were not in Faith’s immediate plans. However, when she learned she was pregnant, she was excited. But others in her life were less supportive than she hoped.
“Being a little bit younger and unmarried, people tend to think it’s not as much of a blessing as it really is,” Faith told Live Action News. “They make you think it’s more of a burden to be carrying this life.
That is not what I needed at that time. And then my baby’s father started considering it more of a burden than a blessing, and made me think about abortion, and suggested that it would be our best option. That was never even an option in my opinion. And just the fact that it was even an idea worth considering? It’s horrible.”

Before sharing the news of her pregnancy, Faith had gone to see the staff and volunteers at Pregnancy Resource Center of Rolla in Missouri. They confirmed that she was indeed pregnant and Faith expressed her joy.
“When Faith first came to us, you know, she’s just this young, beautiful, excited woman,” explained Jane Dalton of PRC of Rolla and director of St. Raymond’s Society, a transitional home for pregnant and newly parenting women. “… She was so excited about [her pregnancy]. Very happy about it. She wasn’t in crisis at all.”
After her baby’s father suggested abortion, and feeling like she had few choices, Faith returned to PRC of Rolla, remembering how they had treated her with dignity and respect, and had been non-judgmental of her situation.

Upon learning of Faith’s pregnancy, many in her life were “negative and telling her she’ll have to drop out of school, that her life as she knows it is over….” said Dalton. The baby’s father suggested having another baby later rather than continue the pregnancy. “He was the one who was the hardest for her. So when she came back to us, she was in crisis.”

Faith said that Dalton ensured her that everything was going to be okay, and reminded her that she was already a mother, and had already been taking steps to create the life she wanted for her child.

"Things are never what you think they should be or what you want, but it all ends up coming out exactly the way it should and exactly the way God intended,” she explained.

Although Faith’s relationship ended, the next couple of months of her pregnancy went well for her. She learned she was expecting a boy, but then her living situation suddenly changed, and she turned again to PRC of Rolla. That’s when Dalton introduced her to St. Raymond’s Society.
