Pro-Abortion Democrat Leader Nancy Pelosi Claims, “I Am a Practicing Catholic”

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi continued to tout herself as a devout Catholic on Thursday, despite her long record of supporting abortion on demand.

During a press meeting Thursday, the California Democrat answered questions about the sexual abuse scandal within the Catholic church, CNS News reports.

In response, Pelosi repeatedly emphasized her devotion to her Catholic faith.

“Well, as a practicing Catholic, I feel great sadness for what has happened in the church,” Pelosi said. “I feel sadness for what it means to the church writ large, but more sad about what it means to the individuals who have been abused, and that they should be respected, protected, and that we have to get to the bottom of it.”

Later she continued: “I’ve seen friends who had most devotion to the church be the most disappointed in it. But I think we have to stay strong because we are, in our view, the Eucharist, the body of Christ, we are all part of the church. And if we have some cancerous elements there, we have to remove all doubt, again, that that will not be how we proceed. It’s very sad.

“It’s a very interesting time and I’ve tried to encourage people to be prayerful within the church and we’ll make a judgment when we see what comes,” Pelosi said. “I’m hopeful that what His Holiness is calling for will have the results that hopefully it is intended to do.”

Her sympathy for the abuse victims and calls for justice are what they should be. Yet, Pelosi continues to ignore another marginalized group that her faith teaches must be protected: babies in the womb.

Pelosi has a strong pro-abortion voting record. In 2013, she put her foot in her mouth during a press conference, calling the battle to keep late-term abortions legal “sacred ground.” Then, earlier this year, she criticized pro-life pregnancy centers, calling them “anti-choice” efforts to “deceive and prey on vulnerable women.”

In January 2017, just before the annual March for Life, Pelosi blasted pro-life Republicans, saying, “They pray in church on Sunday, and prey on everyone the rest of the week.”

Her stance on abortion is in opposition to her faith’s teachings. It also radical in most Americans’ eyes. Polls consistently show that most Americans oppose most abortions. Just a slim percent of Americans want abortion to be legal up until birth, and very few want their tax dollars to pay for abortions.

PPFA of Pennsylvania Pledges to Invest $1.5 million to Re-Elect Pro-Abortion Governor

Senator Scott Wagner, Wolf's opponent, had a 100 percent pro-life voting record while serving in the PA state legislature.

The political arm of the nation’s largest abortion operation plans to spend a record-setting amount of money in the campaign leading up to the November election in Pennsylvania.

The political action committee of Planned Parenthood in the Keystone State has announced it will invest $1.5 million in the Governor’s race and other campaigns throughout the Commonwealth.

Spokeswoman Sari Stevens said in a news release that Governor Tom Wolf is “…a brick wall against efforts to roll back health care access and rights of Pennsylvanians.”

That is code language for “the Governor has never met an abortion restriction he liked.”

Wolf has come to be known as the most pro-abortion governor in Pennsylvania history. This is especially disconcerting, given the legacy of the late Governor Robert Casey, Sr.

Robert Casey, Sr. famously challenged the Democratic Party with his principled pro-life stand. (He is not to be confused with his pro-abortion son, a United States senator.)

Gov. Wolf once volunteered as a clinic escort at a Planned Parenthood facility. He is famous—infamous, actually—for rejecting a bill that would have banned the outrageous practice of dismemberment abortion, where a living preborn baby is torn limb by limb from a mother’s womb.

His staff has also indicated that he would veto House Bill 2050, the Down Syndrome Protection Act, if it comes across his desk. House Bill 2050 would ban abortion for the sole reason of a Down syndrome diagnosis. The bill passed the House of Representatives by an overwhelming, bipartisan, veto-proof margin and is now pending in the state Senate.

In contrast, Wolf’s Republican opponent, former state Senator Scott Wagner, had a 100 percent pro-life voting record during his tenure in the state legislature. Wagner also pushed for enforcement of the state’s abortion center regulation law and sponsored a bus to the March for Life in Washington, D.C.

Say No To Girl Scout Cookies Because of Their Ties to Planned Parenthood

Girl Scouts USA (GSUSA) has become a politically divisive, pro-abortion organization that has abandoned its mission years ago. GSUSA is the largest member organization of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), which aggressively promotes abortion and promiscuous sex on behalf of its 10 million members. WAGGGS states that “anyone who is a Girl Guide or Girl Scout is automatically a member.” GSUSA pays about 1.5 million dollars annually to WAGGGS.

The WAGGGS delegation for the Commission on the Status of Women advocates the following for Girl Scouts and Girl Guides around the world:

“We demand access to comprehensive sexuality information, services and supplies for all young people. We need it today – and today needed to be yesterday.”

WAGGGS participated in the 2016 Women Deliver Conference, which focused on “health — in particular maternal, sexual, and reproductive health and rights.” Content for the conference included “Safe Abortion as a Human Right,” “Safe Abortion Saves Women’s Lives,” with keynote speakers Planned Parenthood Federation of America president Cecile Richards and Catholics for Choice founder Frances Kissling.

GSUSA also maintains memberships in other pro-abortion organizations such as the Coalition for Adolescent Girls and works alongside International Planned Parenthood Federation, Marie Stopes International, and numerous organizations that push for unrestricted abortion rights. 

In fact, all Girl Scout councils and individual troops are encouraged to partner with their local Planned Parenthood. The former GSUSA CEO Kathy Cloninger said, 

“We partner with many organizations. We have relationships with our church communities, with YWCAs, and with Planned Parenthood organizations across the country, to bring information-based sex education programs to girls.”

In addition, all Girl Scout councils sell GSUSA’s official curriculum series for girl members, which promotes prominent pro-abortion women and organizations, including Gloria Steinem, Betty Friedan, the American Civil Liberties Union, the Population Council and many others. 

A list of speeches by “Eloquent Women“ is provided to assist the girls with their public speaking badge. Recommendations include Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger’s speech advocating for a women’s right to birth control, Lady Gaga and Sally Field both advocating for same-sex “marriage.”

GSUSA encouraged and celebrated girls participation in the Women’s March, a vulgar and profanity-laden event that clearly stated “safe, legal, and affordable abortion and birth control for all people” among its core principles. Across the country, local councils involved the Girl Scout brand and the members in partisan and political advocacy. 

A 2016 Hillary Clinton campaign ad featuring Clinton and uniformed Girl Scouts, filmed at a Girl Scouts of Kentucky’s Wilderness Road council shop, was widely shared on her media accounts. Immediately following the presidential election, Girl Scouts of Greater New York partnered in protesting President-elect Donald Trump.

Pro-Abortion Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Turns 85, But Has No Plans to Retire

Abortion activists practically idolize U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. They sell T-shirts, mugs, socks and phone cases adorned with her image (sometimes posed with rude gestures) and coloring books celebrating her abortion advocacy. Nicknamed “The Notorious RBG” by her fans, Ginsburg is one of the most pro-abortion justices on the high court.

The justice, appointed by Bill Clinton in 1993, turned 85 on Thursday and does not plan to retire any time soon, AFP news reports. “As long as I can do the job full steam, I will be here,” she said in January.

Ginsburg intends to keep her seat on the Supreme Court as long as possible, likely because President Donald Trump is not someone she wants to appoint her successor. Trump promised to appoint “pro-life” justices to the high court.

Here’s more from the report: Known affectionately as “The Notorious RBG,” Ginsburg has over the years amassed a legion of fans responsible for crafting T-shirts and other gear bearing her wizened likeness, as well as making her an online phenomenon.

A progressive determined to stay on the bench until President Donald Trump leaves office — thereby denying him the opportunity to further tilt the balance of the court in favor of conservatives — she is seen as something of a legal and moral torch bearer. …

She can hardly take a step outside without legions of fans stopping her to take a selfie. Her severe appearance now adorns beach totes, pins, t-shirts, children’s books and coffee cups. Ginsburg is beloved by abortion activists because of her decisions on the high court. She once said, “A woman’s control of her own body, her choice whether and when to reproduce, it’s essential to women and it’s most basic for women’s health.”

In 2016, she was one of the five justices who sided with abortion activists in the decision Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt, which struck down Texas abortion clinic regulations.

In a rare interview with the New York Times in 2016, Ginsburg said laws should not deny a woman “her right to choose” to abort her unborn baby. She and four other justices ruled that these safety regulations were an “undue burden” on women’s access to abortion.

She also sided with the Obama Administration in trying to force nuns with the Little Sisters of the Poor to pay for drugs that may cause abortions in their employee health care plans.

According to Pro-Aborts, Even Pictures of Babies in the Womb are “Graphic Images”

Pro-lifers uncomfortable with most forms of educational outreach often pinpoint their discomfort very specifically on one thing: Abortion victim photography makes people upset. There are a variety of responses to this, of course—images of abortion victims should make us upset, because little human beings are being physically torn limb from limb. 

But often, I point out the fact that regardless of whether we choose to use photographs of abortion victims in our outreach, people will always get upset, and they will always accuse pro-lifers of being extreme. It is the truth that we bring that upsets people, not the method we use to bring it. That’s why pro-lifers have been attacked at Life Chain, while sidewalk chalking, and virtually any other form of outreach you can think of.

Let me give you one example. Recently, the city of Peterborough reluctantly allowed the Canadian Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform to run pro-life ads on the backs of city buses (they will be running for the next three months.) This is how the Peterborough Examiner covered the story:

A plan from city council to make changes to their advertising policies to prevent a pro-life group from ever running pro-life ads on public transit – with graphic images of fetuses – was ratified by council on Monday night, even after several women told council they failed by not blocking the ads in the first place.

Two ads are coming to public transit this week – likely Tuesday. They come from the Canadian Centre for Bioethical Reform, and they feature graphic images of aborted fetuses.

There’s one problem with that description: Our ad does not include any photographs of aborted babies. It simply shows two photographs of children in the womb followed by a blank red circle, with the words “Growing, Growing, Gone” beneath them. 

A photo of the ad was included in the story that made this claim, so the journalist writing the story obviously knew that she was misrepresenting the advertisement. She also twice referred to the images as “graphic images of fetuses” and quoted a post-abortive woman who complained that the images were “spewing bigotry.”

Democrats are Becoming More and More Pro-Abortion

Last month, Gallup released its annual poll on abortion attitudes in the United States, showing that 46 percent of Americans identify as “pro-life and 49 percent identify as “pro-choice.” In the 1990s and early 2000s, the pro-life position made some impressive gains in the court of public opinion, but over the last eight years, there has been a veritable public-opinion stalemate on this issue. Of the past 13 polls Gallup has conducted since 2009, six indicated a “pro-choice” plurality, six indicated a “pro-life” plurality, and one was a tie.

This most recent Gallup poll was particularly useful because it broke down abortion attitudes by partisan affiliation, revealing some fascinating historical trends. Interestingly, the percentage of Democrats identifying as “pro-choice” has increased from 56 percent to 71 percent since 2001. 

Similarly, a Pew Research Center poll released last week found that the percentage of Democrats who felt abortion should be legal in “all or most cases” has increased by 11 percentage points since 1995.

Much has been written about how the Republican party became home to pro-life voters and politicians. Journalists and researchers have paid less attention, however, to how the Democratic party’s voters and elected officials have become increasingly supportive of legal abortion. 

For many years, an important part of the Democratic party’s electoral coalition consisted of ethnic, Catholic voters, many of whom came of age during the Great Depression. These voters tended to be liberal on economic issues but moderate-to-conservative on social issues.

Savvy Democratic politicians in many parts of the country knew that aggressively liberal stances on social issues might alienate these voters and, as a result, found ways to moderate their stances. When he ran for president in 1992, Bill Clinton campaigned on making abortion “rare.” 

Prior to 2016, few Democratic congressmen publicly supported taxpayer funding of abortion through Medicaid. During the past few election cycles, though, many of those older, ethnic voters passed away, leaving behind a more socially liberal Democratic party.

Trump Advisor Kellyanne Conway: I Can’t be a Feminist Because They Hate Men and Love Abortion

Trump campaign manager and advisor Kellyanne Conway told CPAC on Thursday that she does not identify as a classic feminist because of the movement’s pro-abortion, anti-male tendencies.

The Washington Post reports Conway appeared in an interview Thursday with Mercedes Schlapp during the Conservative Political Action Conference in Maryland. Schlapp asked Conway about the Women’s March on Washington, which took a decidedly pro-abortion stance, and conservative feminism.

“… it’s difficult for me to call myself a feminist in the classic sense because it seems to be very anti-male, and it certainly is very pro-abortion in this context. And I’m neither anti-male and pro-abortion,” Conway said. “There’s an individual feminism, if you will, that you make your own choices.

“Mercedes, I look at myself as a product of my choices, not a victim of my circumstances. And that’s really, to me, what conservative feminism, if you will, is all about,” she said, according to Talking Points Memo.

Conway has received a lot of attention ever since she became the first woman to run a successful presidential campaign for President Donald Trump. She told CPAC that she would encourage young women to “go for it” if they aspire to be the first female president.

The senior Trump advisor is pro-life. She spoke at the March for Life on Jan. 27 in Washington, D.C., along with Vice President Mike Pence.

“It is no coincidence that the first right cited in the Declaration of Independence is the right to Life. We are here to protect and promote the most precious gift in the world – the gift of life,” Conway told the pro-life crowd.

Pro-life leaders have praised Conway for her dedicated pro-life stance, saying she will be a valuable advisor on pro-life issues to the Trump administration.

Survey Shows Most Members of Congress Who Graduated From Catholic Colleges are Pro-Abortion

A new survey found a troubling lack of adherence among Catholic-educated politicians to teachings about the sanctity of human life and abortion.

The Cardinal Newman Society recently reviewed the voting records of federal legislators who graduated from Jesuit universities, and found a strong majority of them have pro-abortion voting records, the College Fix reports.

Jesuit college alumni hold 56 seats in the new Congress, making up 10 percent of the body, according to the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities.

However, Matt Archbold, who conducted the survey, said only two of those U.S. Senators and 12 U.S. Representatives have pro-life voting records. The rest have pro-abortion or mixed records on the abortion issue, according to his report.

“I searched their voting records and found that out of the 12 Jesuit-educated Senators, there are only two reliably pro-life legislators. Two! The rest are either reliably pro-abortion or have mixed voting records,” Archbold wrote.

The two pro-life Senators are John Barrasso, R-Wyoming, and Dan Sullivan, R-Arkansas, according to the survey.

In the U.S. House, 12 Representatives who attended Catholic universities vote pro-life consistently, while 32 vote pro-abortion or mixed, according to his report. 

They are Vern Buchanan, R-Florida, Barbara Comstock, R-Virginia, Dan Donovan, R-New York, John Faso, R-New York, Jeff Fortenberry, R-Nebraska, Mike Gallagher, R-Wisconsin, Paul Gosar, R-Arizona, Trey Hollingsworth, R-Indiana, Frank LoBiondo, R- New Jersey, Mick Mulvaney, R-South Carolina, Timothy Murphy, R-Pennsylvania, and Francis Rooney, R-Florida.

The Jesuit association celebrated the number of Catholic-educated lawmakers in the new Congress earlier this week, but Archbold said he could not celebrate when so many of those lawmakers vote against Catholic teachings on the sanctity of life.

How Tim Kaine's Position on Abortion is Worse than Hillary's

There aren't many politicians whose position on abortion is more extreme, or more deplorable, than Hillary Clinton's.

She is a long-time defender of partial-birth abortion, was instrumental in removing the word "rare" from the Democratic Party platform's "safe, legal and rare" language on abortion, and she is now calling for repeal of the Hyde Amendment, a bipartisan rule that for 40 years barred taxpayer funds from being used for most abortions through Medicaid.

But Clinton running mate Tim Kaine's position is worse, at least in one respect. Unlike Clinton, Kaine seems to recognize that there is something about abortion that is wrong, even gravely immoral. Yet, also unlike Clinton, Kaine doesn't have the courage of his convictions on the issue.

Back in 2005, while running for governor of Virginia, Kaine said he supported "appropriate and reasonable checks on the right to abortion," including a 24-hour waiting period, parental notification and restrictions on funding through Medicaid. He even pledged to pass a law barring most partial-birth abortions. All of this frightened NARAL Pro-Choice America's Virginia chapter enough to withhold its endorsement of Kaine.

Things have changed a lot over the last decade. As a Washington Examiner editorial noted, the day after Kaine was named Clinton's running mate, NARAL blasted an email to supporters with the subject line, "Now THAT's a vice president!"

And it's no wonder NARAL is so happy. Since Kaine joined the Senate in 2012, he's racked up a perfect pro-abortion-rights voting record. And he's become more outspoken, on several occasions stating his belief that abortion decisions should be left to women, not laws.
