Planned Parenthood Clinic Failed Inspection, Couldn’t Revive Women After a Botched Abortion

Planned Parenthood facility in Warminster, Pa.

Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation

Harrisburg, PA - You might recall about a month ago when Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf teamed up with Planned Parenthood Federation of America President Cecile Richards for what the Governor’s office described as a roundtable discussion about the “devastating effects federal budget cuts to Planned Parenthood would have” for Pennsylvanians.

Richards stated, “For many, Planned Parenthood is their only health care provider and they would have nowhere else to go.” But, as the Planned Parenthood official and the Governor were holding their event in Warminster, they failed to mention an annual registration survey that the Department of Health conducted at Planned Parenthood Keystone-Warminster eight days before.

According to the inspection report which is now posted online here, the Planned Parenthood facility was not in compliance with state health department regulations. The report states that a tour of the facility and a staff interview indicated that Planned Parenthood had failed to ensure that “all required emergency equipment was available” for resuscitation when abortions were performed.

According to the report, Planned Parenthood has submitted a plan of correction which was to have taken effect by May 15th—more than a month after the inspection!
The simple fact that inspectors found health and safety violations at Planned Parenthood’s Warminster operation demonstrates why hard-earned tax dollars could be better spent elsewhere.

During the Warminster event, Governor Wolf—a former Planned Parenthood clinic escort—said, "Attacks on women’s health at both federal and state levels are nothing more than politicians inserting themselves between doctors and their patients.” But caring about patients means following basic health and safety standards.

Why not redirect vital health care funds away from an organization that failed to pass inspection, and instead send them to conventional providers which offer comprehensive health care for women—including mammograms (something no Planned Parenthood does)?

Perhaps in the future the Governor will read the inspection reports from the Department of Health before scheduling photo ops with the leaders of organizations that fail to abide by the state’s own safety regulations.

Emails Reveal Close Ties between Wolf Administration, Planned Parenthood of PA

From the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation

It's no secret that Gov. Tom Wolf and Planned Parenthood are close.

Wolf once volunteered as an abortion escort for Planned Parenthood, and he has appointed several people from the Pennsylvania abortion business to his administration.

Recently the Pittsburgh Tribune Review published a story about a series of email correspondences between Wolf's staff and Pennsylvania Planned Parenthood officials. According to the report:

"Lobbyist Sari Stevens offered talking points and told the governor's aides that her information was intended to remain among 'friends,' according to Wolf administration emails provided to the Tribune-Review. The story 'has not reached mainstream media yet; we are trying to keep it that way,' she wrote.

"In the emails, Stevens provided Wolf's staff with 'talking points' about the videos and on two other occasions. Planned Parenthood of Pennsylvania Advocates exchanged dozens of emails with aides to Wolf ..."

It is very disturbing that Gov. Wolf is so close to a group being exposed for some horrific practices. Many Pennsylvanians are outraged after watching undercover videos exposing Planned Parenthood trafficking aborted babies' body parts and its staff talking over lunch about "crushing" and "crunch(ing)" babies in the womb.

Even after the videos were released, Gov. Wolf continued to show unwavering support of this scandalous group by appointing a member of Planned Parenthood of Pennsylvania's board as his chief of staff.

Pennsylvanians are all too familiar with the results of pro-abortion politics in the governor's office. Just a few years ago, Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell was convicted of murdering newborns and killing a female patient in his filthy practice. Gosnell got away with his crimes for decades after pro-abortion Governors Tom Ridge and Ed Rendell failed to inspect abortion centers. According to the Gosnell grand jury report, those administrations apparently believed that it was "better to leave clinics to do as they pleased, even though, as Gosnell proved, that meant both women and babies would pay."

Pennsylvanians are right to be concerned about a new, pro-abortion governor who maintains close ties to the abortion industry. Will Gov. Wolf side with his friends and turn a blind eye to abortion horrors, too?

Planned Parenthood Soundbites Just Aren’t Working

By Maria Gallagher, Legislative Director
Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation

The soundbite machine at Planned Parenthood just isn’t working as well as it used to.

There was once a time when Planned Parenthood officials could deliver a focus group-tested soundbite to a news-hungry media and rest easy. Just repeat a few catchy phrases —“war on women,” “trust women,” “trusted health care provider,” and it was onto the next question.

But that was before undercover videos showed Planned Parenthood doctors nonchalantly discussing over salad the harvest of and compensation for baby body parts. Livers? Lungs? Legs? Heads? The American public had never heard Planned Parenthood talking about human organs, heads, and extremities before. What’s all that got to do with choice and women’s rights and breast cancer exams? I mean, those lunchtime conversations were just way off script.

What Do Women Really Want?

By Maria Gallagher, Legislative Director
Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation

Click onto the website of the nation's largest abortion operation, and you'll see phrases such as "opponents of women's health" and "every woman's right to make her own medical decisions."

The message being broadcast is that to oppose Planned Parenthood is to jeopardize women's well-being and to prevent women from making decisions that affect their health.

This may be "on message" for PP, but it is actually off-message for many women.

National public opinion polls show that most Americans--including women--oppose most abortions. So, in lobbying for unrestricted abortion, PP is advocating against the deeply-held beliefs of many women.

Pro-abortion advocates have been relentless in fighting the most basic health and safety standards for abortion facilities. Even in the wake of the crimes committed by abortionist and serial killer Kermit Gosnell, they balked at regulations designed to protect women from butchers at abortion facilities. Such an absolutist position is not simply pro-abortion, it is anti-woman.

Research shows that as many as 60 percent of abortions may be coerced, meaning that a woman is pressured by someone else to seek an abortion. Often, that other person is a boyfriend or husband. So, in a number of cases, abortion advocates are defending a man's right to make what they claim to be is a woman's decision. So, too, it is often a male abortionist who carries out the procedure. I have heard far too many accounts from women who felt demeaned and disrespected by the men who aborted their children.
