On Friday, more than 100,000 Americans are expected to march in the nation’s capital to celebrate life and condemn abortion. While the networks often overlook the March for Life, it exemplifies the strength and youth of the pro-life movement – something one leader wants the Canadian prime minister to grasp.
March for Life President Jeanne Mancini appeared on Fox & Friends Monday to discuss Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s recent comments attacking the pro-life movement – and invited him to attend the march to “see who’s really out of touch with mainstream America.”
To begin the segment, Fox co-hosts Rachel Campos-Duffy and Brian Kilmeade played a clip of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau bashing pro-life groups.
“An organization that has the explicit purpose of restricting women’s rights by removing rights to abortion is not in line with where we are as a government, quite frankly where we are as a society,” Trudeau declared Wednesday during an Ontario town hall.
Campos-Duffy and Kilmeade turned to Mancini for a reaction. She stressed that he was “out of touch.”
“He doesn’t need to look far to see that eight out of 10 Americans for the last 10 years have wanted to limit abortion more than it’s limited, at least in the United States,” Mancini responded, likely citing a Marist/Knights of Columbus poll.
To see for himself, she invited him to the 45th annual March for Life held later
this month, on Jan. 19.
“I’d love to extend an invitation to the prime minister to come to the March for Life on Friday, because he will see who’s really out of touch with mainstream America,” she continued.
Held in Washington, D.C., the March for Life condemns abortion around the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, which legalized abortion in this country. Regardless of the weather, the march regularly attracts tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands from across the country.
For her part, Campos-Duffy found Trudeau’s comments “ironic” because the March for Life is a “young movement” as well as a “pro-science movement.” Mancini agreed.
“It’s pro-science. It’s pro-love,” Mancini stressed. “And you’re right, Rachel, it’s primarily young people.”
She went on to urge that the March for Life, the “largest human rights demonstration that happens annually around the world” is “45 years strong.”
“It’s astounding when you consider that we’ve lost over 60 million Americans to abortion,” Mancini concluded. “And to the prime minister, I just would really want to talk to him about, this is the most significant human rights abuse of today.”

March for Life President Jeanne Mancini talked about gains made by the pro-life movement, and the work that still needs to be done, on Friday’s Breitbart News Daily with SiriusXM host Alex Marlow.
“In a lot of ways, the pro-life movement is winning,” Mancini said. “There are lots of markers that are showing this: the number of abortions are actually down, the rate of women getting abortions are down. Perhaps more importantly, abortion clinics are down, pregnancy care centers are up.”
“We’re going to talk a little bit about how we change hearts and minds, how we work towards the time when abortion is unthinkable, and how the March for Life has been helpful in that over the years. We’re actually heading into our 45th March for Life this year,” she noted.
Marlow found the “happy warriors” of the March for Life to be an inspiring counter to our increasingly cynical political culture.
“I think it’s really the product of abortion. More than ever, young people see through bunk,” Mancini reflected. “They are aware that abortion hurts women, that it obviously takes the life of a baby, and that it’s a product that has really done so much damage to our culture. They see that.”
“I agree, there’s something that’s so attractive about the young people at the March for Life,” she told Marlow. “We’re not the only ones that think that. There was a wonderful story a few years ago, the head of NARAL—pro-choice America, really the architects of legal abortion in America—came out around lunchtime the day of the March for Life and saw all of the young, enthusiastic, positive, happy marchers. She decided to resign, thinking that they needed to do a better job marketing to young people. So they have now a new, younger head.”
They really need to change the product. It’s not their marketing that’s got a problem. It’s the product that they’re trying to sell,” she said.

As a woman, I do not identify at all with the opinions expressed in Cosmo’s recent article “Abandoning Abortion Rights Means Abandoning Women”. We are not abandoned, we are empowered.
Anyone who says otherwise does not speak for me, nor for the millions of women across the United States who firmly believe that being pro-life and pro-woman go hand in hand.
Pro-life women are not a “fringe minority”. In fact, we are a part of the nearly 8 in 10 majority of Americans that support major abortion restrictions, including restricting abortion to the first 3 months of pregnancy.
Politically speaking, respect for the dignity of all human life is a consistently a winning issue that both parties should embrace. The 2016 election is clear evidence of this.
In an extreme departure from the “safe, legal and rare” mantra, in last year’s presidential election, the Democratic National Committee platform not only abandoned the 26% of Democrats who identify as pro-life, but the 44% of their base who do not want their tax dollars funding abortion, by advocating for unlimited abortion access and a full repeal of the Hyde amendment, which, until that time had widely been considered popular, bipartisan policy. Meanwhile,
Donald Trump committed to “work to support the dignity of human life from conception to natural, dignified death” during his campaign and was elected President.
This is not “fringe”. Pro-life women are not a “discomforted set” of society clinging to an archaic anthem of female subservience. We are CEOs, lawyers, doctors, teachers, writers, baristas, college students, and everything in between, and we believe that our unique capacity for motherhood does not lessen our ambition, but rather, furthers our potential for greatness.
