Pro-life parents may wonder how to instill pro-life values into their children in an easy to understand and age-appropriate way – and a new book series does just that.

Pat the Gnat is the feature character in the series, an adorable little bug who is curious about the world around him, and spends his time learning about Christian and pro-life themes of kindness, forgiveness, and respect for life. Pat goes on adventures which help teach children life-affirming, Biblically-based lessons. Attendees of the 2015 March for Life may have seen books for sale there, and the adorable books pack a big punch for both kids and parents alike.

The Love That Makes Tough Men Cry

by Kristi Burton Brown
Live Action News

He sat across from us at dinner, wiping his eyes just a bit. The tears seemed to come easily, when they were least expected – except, by now, he’d come to expect them. When it came to his son, he was going to get emotional.

He’d just opened a little gift we’d brought for his son who was yet to be born: football jammies with the abbreviation “MVP” on the left chest. The new dad, my husband’s good friend, beamed with pride, and it was obvious that whether his little boy ever played a day of football in his life or not, he was always going to be his dad’s MVP.

Before we dug into our plates of delicious Mexican food, he showed us a video of his son’s first ultrasound. A tiny little gummy bear, with a very round belly, kicking and swinging for all he was worth. Even at the size of mere bean, this little boy wasn’t going to let anyone miss the truth of his humanity.

Rossville, GA Bans Abortion Clinics, Wants to be a “Peaceful City”

by Lauren Enriquez
Live Action News

Teddy Harris is the mayor of Rossville, GA, and he wants to make his city as peaceful as possible for residents. To this end, the city has banned abortion clinics — seeking to avoid the violence of abortion and the contentious debates that surround it:

We want to be a peaceful city. We don’t want to have any protesters.

Notably, it was a single citizen’s question that prompted Mayor Harris to consider whether abortion mills were good for his town:

10 QUOTES THAT REVEAL HOW PROFITABLE ABORTION IS

by Sarah Terzo
Live Action News

Abortion doctors face stigma from the medical community and society, protests and pressure from pro-lifers, and the emotionally disturbing aspects of the abortion procedure which often includessorting through individual body parts,  i.e., arms, legs, etc.  So why do they do it? For some, the motive may be as simple as making money. Here are some quotes from abortion providers, from now and in the past, that indicate how profitable abortion can be.
1.) “It started out as a financial thing. But I got heavy into the [abortion rights] movement and realized there was a lot of need for physicians…. My income will go up, but I earn it. I work hard for what I do, and I am proud of what I do.” (1)
At the time the abortionist made this statement, he had over 10 malpractice suits. He eventually lost his license after killing a woman in a botched abortion. He was also accused by clinic workers of killing a baby born alive after an abortion.
The article also described him as an avid gambler.

Debunking the Argument that “Fetuses Aren’t Children”

Kristi Burton Brown
Live Action News

“Fetuses aren’t children.”
This was the answer I received to my tweet that said, “…Killing children – at any developmental stage – should be illegal.”
The exchange went on:
Me: “Are adolescents children? If children are children at one developmental stage, they’re children at every developmental stage.”
K.K.: “A fetus has none of the abilities/physical characteristics that even a newborn has.”
Me: “Hmmm, really? A baby at 39 wks is still a fetus. You’d really argue that she has none of the characteristics of a newborn?”
K.K.: “She obviously looks, in ultrasounds, like a baby. But she still cannot breathe, move, eat. vocalize like an infant.”
While I actually enjoy talking with the lady who was debating me, I have to shake my head at this terrible logic. By claiming “fetuses aren’t children,” she was claiming:
  1. There is an arbitrary developmental standard humans must meet to become children.
  2. Having the abilities and physical characteristics of a newborn apparently qualify a human as a child, worthy of protection.
  3. Looking like a baby is not enough. Unless you can breath, move, eat, and vocalize like an infant, you’re not human enough. And you can be freely killed.
I would propose three different solutions – ones that recognize the dignity and value of all humanity.

RH REALITY CHECK PROVES AGAIN THAT THEY DON’T UNDERSTAND THE AFTERMATH OF ABORTION

By Nancy Flanders
for Live Action News

A Louisiana bill was passed this week to require abortionists to inform their patients of the psychological effects of abortion. Women seeking an abortion would receive a pamphlet with information about the psychological effects of abortion along with mental health resources, and the patient would sign a form confirming that they received the information and that they will wait 24 hours before returning for the abortion.  This has abortion supporters up in arms.
One such supporter is Amanda Marcotte of RH Reality Check. She claims the bill is based on lies and is an attempt on by Christian conservatives to ignore science and manipulate women. She says the bill “is focused strictly on false mental health claims.”

ABORTION MILL ESCORTS DECRY PRO-LIFE EFFORTS, REVEAL THEIR OWN IGNORANCE

By Lauren Enriquez

Live Action News

The Huffington Post’s “HuffPost Live” is a live streaming network that is unabashedly married to the most liberal of liberal agendas. Abortion — or “reproductive freedom” as HuffPost segments gushingly refer to the deed — has been a regular topic on the network. The network featured four current and former abortion mill escorts in February who came on the show to decry buffer zone laws, which were being hotly debated across the country.
Buffer zone laws are intended to create a measure of distance (varying between different states’ bills) from the abortion mill beyond which pro-life activists are not allowed to proceed. There remains much contention about whether state buffer zone laws are a constitutional violation of First Amendment free speech rights.

Shoddy Science: Why America Doesn’t Need Planned Parenthood

Source: The Endowment for Human Development
Investigative Reporting
by Kristi Burton Brown
for Live Action News

Planned Parenthood takes great pains to describe itself in the rosiest way possible:
We are a trusted health care provider, an informed educator, a passionate advocate, and a global partner helping similar organizations around the world. …
For nearly 100 years, Planned Parenthood has promoted a **commonsense approach to women’s health and well-being, based on respect for each individual’s right to make informed, independent decisions about health, sex, and family planning.
But is America’s abortion giant (who performed a record 333,964 abortions in 2012 while receiving “45 percent of its revenues from taxpayer-funded government sources”) actually an “informed” educator? Is the organization’s approach really “commonsense”? Is it truly “based on respect” and the ability to make “informed” decisions?

Wisconsin Pro-Life License Plate Bill Not Voted on by Senate, Lawsuit Considered

By Heidi Miller
for Live Action News

In Wisconsin’s last legislative session, AB 206 was considered, a bill that would create specialized pro-life license plates, giving some of the proceeds to pregnancy centers throughout the state.
The Assembly passed the bill last November, where it was then sent to the Senate Committee on Transportation, Public Safety, and Veterans and Military Affairs.  The Senate Committee approved it this March.  Next should have come a vote by the Wisconsin Senate.  But that vote never came, effectively stopping the bill.
Chose Life Wisconsin, Inc., believes that failure to allow a Senate vote is a violation of First Amendment rights.  According to a letter written by Attorney Michael Dean to Senator Scott Firzgerald and other members of the Wisconsin State Senate:

Are Americans About To Lose Their Religious Freedom?

From Lila Rose
Live Action News

It will be a while before we get a decision from the Supreme Court regarding today's oral arguments in Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby.  But I was on the steps of the Court yesterday, while those arguments were happening.  And what I saw was a crowd of people passionate about their right to live their faith – and their right not to pay for child-killing drugs.

Let's clear up some confusion: the Hobby Lobby case is not a "contraceptive" matter, even though so many in the mainstream media portray it that way.  This is a matter of our government forcing people to pay for abortifacient drugs – chemicals that destroy an innocent human being in her first stages of life.

There were plenty of Planned Parenthood protesters at the Supreme Court yesterday, too.  They had a lot to say (and loudly!), but they seem to be confused about a few things.

 1. The Hobby Lobby case isn't about contraception.  In fact, Hobby Lobby's insurance covers over a dozen forms of birth control.  It's the abortifacients – "emergency contraception" and IUDs, which are built to destroy a human embryo in case of conception – that the company opposes.

2. Even so, fertility is not a disease, and contraception is not health care.  Contraceptive hormone drugs act with the false understanding that a woman's fertility – her ability to house, nurture, and nourish new life – is a "dysfunction" that needs "correcting."  This mentality tells women that the way their bodies are supposed to work is wrong, and that they must rely on government, or a pharmaceutical company, or Planned Parenthood, to "fix" them...using a chemical the World Health Organization has labeled a Group I carcinogen.

3. Abortion drugs should not be legal.  Just like contraceptives, abortifacients don't "cure" anything, no matter how much abortion advocates try to dehumanize the innocent pre-born child into some sort of disease.  Wouldn't you expect health insurance plans to cover things that improve a person's health?  Abortifacients don't do that – instead of healing, they kill.  And they're no picnic for the mothers who use them, either.

When I spoke at the Supreme Court yesterday, I was gratified to see so many people standing up for the quintessentially American freedom to act according to their well-formed consciences.  You can join the fight by visiting Hobby Lobby's Facebook page and expressing your support.  Even a small gesture can make a big difference.

Dear Kinda, Sorta, Maybe Pro-Life Candidates

by Kristi Burton Brown
Live Action News

As another election cycle begins in earnest, some pro-life candidates are playing political games. One common argument making the rounds is that campaigns are not “focused on social issues.” The all-important economy is the focus.

Where does a focus on the economy and a neglect of vital social issues get us? In the past, it’s gotten us slavery and discrimination. It gave Germany the Holocaust. When moral people focus on the economy and put their blinders on for social issues, do we think our opposition ignores the social issues?

No. That’s why slavery continued and the Holocaust began. The opposition doesn’t let up. They don’t ignore social issues for the sake of the economy. They claim their side of the social issues is imperative to the success of the economy. They use pro-lifers’ social issue blindness to advance their own cause. They don’t hold up a white flag and say, “Sure, let’s all just forget about abortion for awhile.” Instead, they laugh at our folly and floor the gas pedal on their own advance.

Kinda, maybe, sorta pro-life candidates are emerging where true leaders once stood. Instead of finding a concise, courageous way to explain their convictions, they deny they ever had them.

“The voters have spoken…the question is settled.”

Abortionists: Attacking or under attack?

by Katherine Rosario
 Live Action News

“Meet Americas Most Hated Doctors” is a provocatively written article from Think Progress, describing eight abortionists who consider their job very risky.

But risky to whom?

These abortionists, “on the front lines of the abortion wars,” are not concerned about the risk that their profession poses to women or to unborn children, but to their careers.

“It’s very clear to me that the work I do puts me at risk on many levels.  I’m willing to take these risks, but it’s ridiculous they exist in the first place,” said abortionist Dr. David Eisenberg.

The article claims that abortionists face a new kind of “harassment,” pointing specifically to pro-life legislation that is designed to ensure that health and safety standards are being met in abortion clinics. The article also points to restrictions on late-term abortion as being harmful to an abortionist’s work, even though a majority of Americans support limitations on late-term abortions.

Pro-Choice Substance Abuse Counselor Admits That Men And Women Suffer From Abortion

by Sarah Terzo

Abortion providers like Planned Parenthood insist that abortion does not cause depression, substance abuse, or any kind of mental health trauma. On the Planned Parenthood website, it says the following:
Research studies indicate that emotional responses to legally induced abortion are largely positive…. Anti-family planning activists, however, circulate unfounded claims that a majority of the 29 percent of pregnant American women who choose to terminate their pregnancies (Henshaw & Van Vort, 1990) suffer severe and long-lasting emotional trauma as a result. They call this nonexistent phenomenon “post-abortion trauma” or “post-abortion syndrome.” … For most women who have had abortions, the procedure represents a maturing experience, a successful coping with a personal crisis situation .. Up to 98 percent of the women who have abortions have no regrets and would make the same choice again in similar circumstances .
While a handful of studies do show that women do not regret their abortions, these studies are usually based on interviews with women conducted mere weeks or months after their abortions, or even on the actual day of their abortions. Many women are not ready to admit the emotional issues their abortions have caused them so soon, or they may not yet have come to realize exactly how their abortions have affected them.

The Big Apple’s Crime Against Black Babies

by Jeannie Deangelis
Live Action News

Barack Obama is the most abortion-friendly president to ever park his slippers in the private living quarters of the White House. No other president has supported not only abortion, but in addition to refusing to sign a bill that would mandate medical care for babies born alive in botched abortions, has called unwanted pregnancies a “punishment,” seems enamored with Planned Parenthood, and supports the brutal act of late-term partial-birth abortion.

When 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, the black youth who was shot to death in Sanford, Florida, by George Zimmerman in self-defense, Obama, as a father, identified with the boy and publicly said that Trayvon could have been his son.

It’s curious that the president viewed this young black man as someone who could have been his child, because as black babies are systematically slaughtered in abortion mills all over America, the president apparently doesn’t have the ability to see that any one of those innocent, helpless unborn infants could also have been his child.

Patricia Heaton’s Gutsy Tweet About Margaret Sanger, Black Abortions

by Lauren Enriquez
Live Action News

Hollywood is known for its liberal ideology and agenda, and few actors stand out as outspokenly pro-life. Celebrities who publicly oppose abortion are diamonds in the rough, and one of these — who has been an audacious pro-lifer for years — is Everybody Loves Raymond’s Patricia Heaton.

Once in a while, Heaton takes to Twitter to voice her pro-life convictions, like when she tweeted multiple times during the Gosnell trial in April about the horrors of his practice. She even called out network television for its silence on the matter (undeterred by the fact that she is employed by one such network — ABC —  where she currently stars on its primetime comedy, The Middle).

Last week, Heaton hit social media once again, when she linked to a National Review article about the staggering reality that, in New York City (where laws ensure that abortion statistic data are well-documented), more black babies are aborted than born. The article says:

What To Do If Your Boyfriend Wants You To Get An Abortion

Note: This article is for any girl or woman who is feeling pressured into having an abortion

by Kristi Burton Brown
Live Action News

1.  Stand your ground.

You know you don’t want an abortion. Maybe you know in your heart that your child is a real, live person (you’re right!). Maybe you know your science and facts already. Maybe you can’t bear to be a part of killing an innocent human being. Maybe you already love your child. Maybe you or someone you know has had an abortion, and you know the physical and emotional pain that comes with it.

Whatever your reason, you do not have to get an abortion. It is against the law for anyone to force or coerce you to get one. You are your child’s mother and no one – not your boyfriend, husband, parents, pimp, teacher, or lady at the grocery store – can make you get an abortion.

Let your “no!” mean “no!” – no matter what anyone else tells you. Your baby is a new, unique person who deserves a chance at life. Period.

If you ever need to be reminded why you don’t want an abortion, read real stories from real women who have had abortions.

Their experiences will remind you why you don’t want to do this, and will help keep you strong in difficult moments. (You can also read encouraging stories from girls who have been in your situation! Check out the Embrace Grace blog or the book, A Bump in Life.)

Arizona Panel Approves Surprise Inspections Of Abortion Centers

by Cassy Fiano

A welcome development is breaking out of Arizona. An Arizona House panel has voted to advance a bill which would allow surprise inspections of the state’s nine abortion clinics.
The Reform and Human Services Committee approved House Bill 2284 by Republican Rep. Debbie Lesko of Peoria on a 5-3 party-line vote Thursday.
The bill backed by the anti-abortion group Center for Arizona Policy eliminates a requirement that the Department of Health Services obtain an administrative warrant to conduct unscheduled inspections at the state’s nine licensed abortion clinics.

The bill is opposed by Democrats and Planned Parenthood of Arizona.

Mom Seeks Justice After Murdered Unborn Son Refused Status As Person

When is murder not murder? Heather Surovik found out that when her baby, who was close to birth, was
killed by a drunk driver, it wasn’t actually murder because Colorado law says her baby wasn’t a life.

MSNBC added to the tragedy with a report weighing in with the pro-abortion offense. The basics are clear, as MSNBC points out:

To Surovik, that was a homicide. But not according to Colorado law. “I was told that because my son did not take a breath, he was not considered a person,” she said. “He was considered part of my injuries—a loss of a pregnancy.” In her case, a repeat drunk driver named Gary Sheats pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and vehicular assault. “Those charges didn’t matter to me because they didn’t involve my son,” Surovik said. “I wanted to figure out a way to get justice.”
This injustice led Surovik to fight the law with the law, and this November, Amendment 67 – known as the Brady Amendment – will appear on Colorado ballots. If it passes, it will redefine criminal code in CO:

In the interest of the protection of pregnant mothers and their unborn children from criminal offenses and negligent and wrongful acts, the words ‘person’ and ‘child’ in the Colorado Criminal Code and the Colorado Wrongful Death Act must include unborn human beings.
Surovik met Personhood USA directors in Colorado and decided to work with them to help collect the signatures needed for the ballot measure.

How We Marked the 41st Anniversary of Roe v. Wade: Attending Marches Across the Country

Since the 1973 Supreme Court ruling on Roe v. Wade, more than 56 million lives have been snuffed out in America. That’s more people than the population of Texas, and it’s nine times the number of people who were killed during the Jewish Holocaust.

But every year during the third week of January, millions of Americans from all races, creeds, and socioeconomic and religious backgrounds come together in cities across the nation to stand up for the unborn and remind the world that abortion is the moral injustice of our day.

As a pro-life outreach organization driven by compassion for both the unborn and for women facing crisis pregnancies, Online for Life participated in this year’s life marches to show love and grace while proclaiming the truth about abortion and life.

Despite the snow and near-zero temperatures, thousands gathered in Washington, D.C. to make the annual trek up the National Mall to the Supreme Court Building. Arguably America’s largest life march, the National March for Life headlined some leading pro-life advocates, including Jeanne Monahan, president of March for Life; Giovanna Romero of Latinas por la Vida; Nicole Peck of Silent No More; youth speaker Molly Anne Dutton (Auburn University student); and many more. Online for Life was there, marching alongside staff members from several pregnancy resource centers that work with us.

Courageous 14-Year-Old Rape Victim Chooses Life: Now Her Rapist Attends Her School

Ashley was 14 years old when I read an article about her in the newspaper discussing how she was raped and as a result became pregnant. From the moment Ashley found out she was pregnant, she knew that carrying her baby to term was her only option. On June 26, 2013, her son Aiden was born, and he has warmed everyone’s heart that he comes into contact with. Throughout the summer and fall of 2013, I have had to privilege of getting to know not only Ashley and Aiden, but Ashley’s parents as well. Ashley has a wonderful family, and I have come to realize that they are her biggest supporters.

Ashley’s rapist was 17 years old and happened to be a friend of her brother’s at the time. He was convicted and charged as a juvenile, so the judge decided to charge him only with molestation. Being that he was a minor, a charge of molestation instead of rape might seem reasonable to some, but sadly, this was not his first offense; it was his third. He had been charged with molestation of two other girls he had raped besides Ashley. He didn’t spend any time in jail for his crimes, and his punishment was probation, drug testing, and sexual aggression classes. Since Ashley’s rapist was charged as a juvenile, he does not have to register as a sex offender.
