After Her Abortion, A “Terrible Sense of Emptiness”

By Sarah Terzo
National Right to Life

“I was performing as a singer in ‘Evita’ in London in 1984 when I discovered that I was pregnant… By coincidence, a colleague with whom I shared a dressing room discovered that she was pregnant at around the same time.

She and her husband were thrilled with their news, but she became distressed at the thought that I was going to have an abortion. In total sincerity, she asked me if I would consider having the baby and letting her adopt it. I was utterly distressed at the thought of possibly giving up a child of mine for adoption.

I thanked my colleague for her offer and tried to explain to her that just as her maternal instinct prompted her to make such an offer, my maternal instinct could never let me accept it. While I do believe that adopting out a child can be an expression of maternal protectiveness and caring, it was not my choice…

My experience was a struggle because I had not anticipated the terrible sense of emptiness that followed the abortion.

It is probably difficult for those who are against abortion or who have not had one to understand that one can have an abortion without regret and yet still feel a deep sense of loss.…

Abortion produces many conflicting emotions that are not necessarily reconcilable or logical…

It is virtually impossible to know how you are going to react physically and emotionally after the abortion.”

Post-Abortion Woman: "I Want My Baby"

By Sarah Terzo
National Right to Life

Jasmine (From New Zealand) expresses her pain after her abortion:

“I’m 19, and just had an abortion 2 weeks ago.

I hate it, I can never stop thinking about it, or what it would be like if I had of kept it.

Yah know, that could’ve been my little girl running around cuddling me, calling mum, looking at me with my eyes.

At the time, I was living overseas, away from my family and friends.

I was late with my period, so I got a home pregnancy test. Well, it was positive.

I was so scared, I didn’t know what to do. I put it to the back of my head, didn’t want to think it was.

I didn’t have a boyfriend.

Finally, I told my mother. About a month later, I came home. By this time, I was almost 3 months.

I had already decided there was no way I was keeping it. So 5 days after I got home, I got it done.

It was so quick, I didn’t think, I know I didn’t. I was being selfish, only thinking of me, not of another life inside of me.

I killed it. I hate it. I want it back soo bad. I want my baby.

Yah know, what I hate the most after the operation? No scars, not even a sore stomach. I was fine, even though I just committed murder!

I love my baby and miss it. Why did I do it?

My precious baby, your mummy loves you!”

Postabortion Woman Finds Feminists Don’t Like Discussing Abortion Grief

By Sarah Terzo
National Right to Life

A pro-choice author, who wrote a book on women’s experiences after an abortion, described how one woman felt grief after she aborted her baby [1]. The young woman felt that pro-choice friends did not want to hear about her struggles after the abortion.
Karen cannot make sense of her grief. She says,
“I hated being pregnant. I knew I did not want to have a baby. So why should I feel sad after the abortion?… I don’t understand the emotions, so I can’t very well explain them.”
She says of her depression and confusion,
“I wish it were okay to talk of such feelings in the feminist circles. It seems that for political reasons we cannot.” Some abortion advocates might interpret Karen’s feeling as a threat to the movement or as a sign of defection, when in reality, Karen’s support has not wavered at all.”

Woman’s Son Saddened by Her Abortion

By Sarah Terzo
National Right to Life

One woman recalls how she told her kids about her abortion:

“My only regret about having this abortion is that many years later, within the last three or maybe five years, the boys were out here, the oldest and youngest boy, for Christmas or something, and somehow the subject of abortion came up.
I think [my partner] said that she’d had an abortion, and the kids were interested, and I said,
‘Well, you know, I had one too.’ As soon as it was out of my mouth, I knew that they didn’t know.
There was a look of surprise, particularly on my youngest son’s face—he was probably twenty-three or so at the time. It was either later that evening or the next day when we were out hiking, he said,
‘I feel very sad that I could have had a little brother. That there could have been four of us, not just three.’ He said, ‘[It] just makes me very sad.’
You know, all these years had gone by. I’d never told them, and it just came out in a conversation about pro-choice. That’s my only regret, that I told my sons that I’d had an abortion. I had no idea that it would affect them so personally. That they, particularly [the youngest], would feel it as such a personal loss.”

Blogger's comment:

Planned Parenthood callously ignores the impact of abortion on other victims besides their first victim, the unborn baby.  Mothers, fathers, siblings, and grandparents are wounded by that missing precious baby meant to be part of their family.

Jesus said, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly." John 10:10

“I Know Life Begins at Conception,” Admits Pro-Choice Activist

National Right to Life

“Here is a startling revelation: I am a mother of two and a woman who earlier in her life had an abortion. I am unapologetically pro-choice. And I know life ‘begins’ at conception …. because I kinda already knew that having a child required, as a first step, the successful integration of a sperm and an egg, or fertilization.

“In other words, ‘life’ begins at conception, if by ‘life,’ we mean the essential starting place of a potential human being. Neither my 16-year-old daughter nor my 13-year-old son would be here if they were not first conceived, if the fertilized eggs had not gone through the process of cell division, successfully implanted in my uterus and developed into healthy embryos, and subsequently gone successfully through the many other phases of development leading to their births.”
[Commenting on a quote from Congressman Paul Ryan, where he said that seeing his unborn baby on the ultrasound screen, convinced him that life began at conception, Jacobson writes]

“I understand that seeing the sonogram of a wanted child is a powerful thing and a connection to the potential person whose birth is much awaited. But if it took Paul Ryan to see a sonogram of his daughter in utero to get him to believe his wife was pregnant and that his daughter’s “life” began with conception, the state of GOP knowledge on sex and biology is even worse than I thought.”

She does not explain how “life begins at conception,” but an unborn baby is only a “potential child.” It is typical pro-choice doublespeak.

It “Broke My Heart,” Post-Abortion Father Says

By Sarah Terzo
NationaL Right to Life

The father of an aborted baby speaks out:
“I once fathered a baby by a woman I truly loved in what was the most beautiful experience I have ever had, and of which until that moment I did not think I was capable. I was in fact a soldier at the time and the experience occurred in another country….[she got pregnant]
In the circumstances then prevailing I could not marry the lady but begged for her to have the child, promising to see that it was provided for. She could not see it this way, and had a quick and easy legal abortion.
I considered myself a pretty hard tough man after seven years wartime military service, but to my own astonishment the abortion broke me up, or broke my heart, whichever way you care to look at it, besides filling me with an appalling sense of futility and waste and denial of God’s loving kindness and mercy. This feeling festered in me for many years…”

Pro-Choice Slogans Didn’t Bring Comfort Following Her Abortion

By Sarah Terzo

From one post-abortion woman:

“Although pro-choice slogans gave me the courage to choose abortion, there was no comfort for the pain, suffering, and confusion that followed.
I was faced with the harsh reality that I had done something horrible and that it could not be undone.”
