Honoring and Multiplying John Stanton's Legacy

John and Harriet Stanton

From Mike McMonagle, President
Pro-Life Coalition of Pennsylvania

John Stanton served as the founder and patriarch of the pro-life movement in the Philadelphia area and throughout Pennsylvania.  In the wake of his death on January 31, 2014, Patricia Dowling has assembled many of the tributes to John at this link.

I encourage you to participate in the following pro-life activities to honor John's tremendous legacy and to multiply his public witness for the sanctity of all human life.
1.  Philadelphia Archbishop Charles Chaput is celebrating the 6:30PM Mass at the Cathedral on Sunday, March 2, 2014 to commemorate John's life.

2.  A program to multiply John's public witness on Saturday morning at the "Philadelphia Women's Center" abortion chamber near 8th and Race Streets in center-city Philadelphia begins on Saturday, March 8, 2014.  I’m attaching this link about the kickoff events on this day, which include a 9:30AM Mass at Holy Redeemer Church at 10th and Vine Streets.

3.  In John's honor, please participate in the Sunday, March 16, 2014 St. Patrick's Day Parade in center-city Philadelphia from approximately 11:30AM - 2:30PM.  Use this link for information about this event.

Please promote attendance at, and if male please attend, the Saturday, March 16, 2014 "Man Up Philly" conference at St. Joseph's University.  Please visit http://manupphilly.com/ for additional information.

Prayer and Witness at the Philadelphia Women's Center, Saturday March 8th

Help us honor John Stanton's legacy by participating in a prayer vigil and public witness at the "Philadelphia Women's Center" at 8th and Appletree Streets (between Race and Arch) on Saturday, March 8, 2014 from 7:00am - 9:15am

Rev. Thomas Betz will celebrate Mass at 9:30am at nearby Holy Redeemer Church at 10th and Vine Streets. A social gathering follows in the Parish Center.

For many years, John led a group of pro-life citizens every Saturday morning at this abortion chamber in prayer, counseling and public witness when approximately 30 expectant mothers arrive for abortions. The witness and prayers of these pro-life people often resulted in some of these mothers not having their scheduled abortions. The number of such mothers was usually in proportion to the number of pro-life citizens present.

Sad to say, but the number of pro-life people present at this abortion chamber on Saturday mornings usually only averages only ten. In an effort to increase these numbers, pro-life leaders are seeking to recruit people to commit to be present at this abortion chamber on one Saturday per month.

We launch these efforts on Saturday, March 8th, the first Saturday in Lent 2014. Please join us!

Parking and bathrooms facilities are available near to the abortion chamber and at Holy Redeemer Church.
