Saving Our American Idols

HARRISBURG, Pa. - The farewell season of "American Idol" marks the end of an era. A generation of unknown talents from across the country have graced the AI stage, eventually becoming household names like Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry, and Jennifer Hudson.

Recently, the original idol, Kelly Clarkson, gave an emotional performance in which she brought the audience, and herself, to tears singing her hit, "Piece by Piece." She said she wrote it when she was pregnant with her first child, talking about the father who had abandoned her when she herself was a little girl.

So often, a woman who walks into an abortion facility feels abandoned--abandoned by a boyfriend, a mother, a father. It is no coincidence that a poll once found that 80 percent of women who have had abortions said they would have continued their pregnancies and given birth had just one person supported them--just one person. Often times, too, the woman is coerced into having an abortion by the very people who should be loving her and supporting her. Again, research shows as many as 60 percent of abortions are coerced, indicating a boyfriend, father, parent, or even a grandparent is forcing a woman to make a choice she'd rather not make.

I think, in the end, the premise of American Idol is a simple one--every talented young person deserves a shot at stardom. It's an equal opportunity musician-maker because, over the years, people of all different racial and social backgrounds have had their chance under the spotlight.

Over the 14 year course of the show, I wonder how many Idols we have lost to abortion. We know the yearly figure for abortion stands at about a million. A million children whose songs were left unsung.

The movement to make abortion unthinkable has as its essence the simple premise: everybody deserves a shot. Whether you're black or Latino, male or female, able-bodied or differently-abled, you deserve a shot at life. And no one has the right to take that opportunity away.

Let's keep in mind the lyrics of Kelly Clarkson's stirring new song Piece by Piece and pray that all fathers will courageously accept the duties of parenthood:

"He never walks away

He never asks for money

He takes care of me

He loves me

Piece by piece

He restored my faith

That a man can be kind

And a father could stay..."

Alaska Senate Passes Bill Banning Planned Parenthood from Schools

A bill that would give parents more say in their children’s sex education passed the Alaska Senate on Friday. Senate Bill 89 requires parental permission for public school students prior to sex education classes, and would allow parents to withdraw their children from sex education and standardized testing.

More importantly, the bill bans schools from using educational material from any “abortion services provider,” including Planned Parenthood, which claims it is currently providing education to more than 2,000 children in Alaska.

Naturally, Planned Parenthood took exception to the bill – along with a companion bill which lays out penalties for violation – referring to them as “unconstitutional restrictions on the education available to communities across the state.”

But State Sen. Cathy Giessel, co-sponsor of the bill, sees the legislation as a way to empower parents in making choices regarding their children’s education…

During a Congressional hearing today, Representative Diane Black, a nurse of more than 40 years, slammed the sale of aborted baby parts during her question and answer session with witnesses. Black spoke at the inaugural hearing of the Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives, focusing on bioethics and fetal tissue research related to the exposure of Planned Parenthood and others selling the body parts of aborted babies.

The hearing came just one day after a 12th video exposed how Planned Parenthood officials sell the body parts of aborted babies for profit and alter abortion procedures to obtain the parts. Both are potentially violations of federal law.

Black condemned the killing of an 8-10-week-old aborted baby who was subsequently sold for parts to a research university.

“This is not dignity. This is not respect for human life,” Black said. “I want to ask the panelists – have we reached a point in our society where there effectively is an Amazon.com for human parts, including entire babies?”

Dallas, Texas – Less than 48 hours before the U. S. Supreme Court will hear a pivotal Texas abortion case focused on women’s safety, an ambulance transported a woman from Southwestern Women’s Surgery Center, an abortion clinic in Dallas, Texas.

The ambulance was photographed by a pro-life activist at Southwestern Surgery Center on Monday, February 29, 2016, at about 1:06 p.m.

“This latest medical emergency at a Texas abortion facility only emphasizes abortion risks and how important it is for abortionists to maintain minimum safety standards and hospital privileges within 30 miles of their abortion facilities,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.

It’s not often I ask you to contact your lawmakers in Congress.  But this is one of those crucial moments when I must.

Please. For the sake of your pro-life mission. For the sake of our fight to end legalized abortion-on-demand in America. For the sake of our nation’s future:

Here’s why it’s so important that you do this today.

As you know our nation, and in particular our pro-life movement, lost a great champion when God called Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia home. Without eulogizing Justice Scalia, I feel certain that upon his arrival at the Gates of St. Peter, Our Lord said to him:“Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Master.”

Now it falls to us to carry on Justice Scalia’s work. Otherwise he will have labored in vain.

Our first and foremost task is to make sure his place on the Supreme Court is filled by a person who cherishes the Constitution and rule of law as passionately as he did. This is critically important because on many crucial issues, the Court is now split 4 – 4. But that’s a tenuous “split” at best because, as we’ve seen over the past couple of years, it all depends on the specific case. And Supreme Court Justices are quite capable of giving us nasty surprises!

All of this is to say that we must do everything in our power to:

1. Convince Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to HOLD FAST and not hold any hearings on anyone President Obama might nominate to the Court. 

2. At the same time we must begin NOW to make sure our fellow Americans elect a President and Congress that will nominate and confirm a Supreme Court Justice in the mold of the late Antonin Scalia.

Both objectives are absolutely vital to the survival of our pro-life mission and our nation.

Which is why I’m counting on you to take those three actions I just mentioned; namely to:
MAKE your three phone calls today. 

In light of all that’s at stake with the Supreme Court, Priests for Life is working frantically to rally MILLIONS of pro-life and freedom-loving Americans to flood the Senate with postcards, letters, emails, faxes and phone calls demanding that Senate Majority Leader McConnell HOLD FAST to the principled stand he laid down shortly after Justice Scalia’s death when he said:

“The American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court Justice. Therefore, this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new president.”

Given the impact Supreme Court decisions have on our pro-life mission, I totally agree.

That is especially true when you consider the individuals President Obama has placed on the Supreme Court and other federal courts. Without exception he has filled these important positions with Far Left ideological extremists who share his mission to “fundamentally transform” our nation. Obama’s judicial appointments DO NOT share our pro-life convictions.

Sen. Chuck Grassley, who heads up the important Senate Judiciary Committee, made that very point when he addressed how the Senate should act regarding the vacancy on the Court:

“This president, above all others, has made no bones about his goal to use the courts to circumvent Congress and push through his own agenda. It only makes sense that we defer to the American people who will elect a new president to select the next Supreme Court Justice.”

Even President Obama’s strongest allies are on record stating that when we’re about to elect a new President and Congress, the Senate should postpone any action on a Supreme Court replacement until AFTER the election. For example, in 1992 then Senator Joseph Biden said:

“Once the political season is underway and it is, action on a Supreme Court nomination must be put off until after the election campaign is over.”

Then there’s this from ultra-liberal Sen. Chuck Schumer. Back on July 27, 2007 when he was concerned that then President George W. Bush might have an opportunity to nominate his third Justice to the Court, Sen. Schumer railed:

“I will do everything in my power to prevent one more ideological ally from joining (Justices John) Roberts and (Samuel) Alito. [The Senate] should not confirm any Bush nominee to the Supreme Court except in extraordinary circumstances. The Supreme Court is dangerously out of balance.”

Now that the tables have been turned and it’s President Obama in a position to put the Supreme Court“dangerously out of balance” Schumer and Company are singing a different tune.

In addition to them, liberal members of the mainstream news media are putting enormous pressure on Sen. McConnell to cave in to President Obama, Joe Biden, Chuck Schumer and others on the Far Left. Typical of the way they want the government to control our lives, they don’t want the American people to use their votes to decide what type of person should replace Justice Scalia.

And because they don’t, our job from now until Election Day is twofold:

1. To provide Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell with the support he needs to HOLD FAST and refuse hold any hearings on Far Left judicial activist Obama nominees to the Court. 

2. To begin NOW to make sure our fellow Americans elect a President and Congress that will nominate and confirm a Justice who will, like Justice Scalia, make decisions based on the Constitution and not personal political agendas.

MAKE your three phone calls TODAY! Each day that passes is one more day the mainstream media has to bludgeon Sen. McConnell and try to bully him into caving in to their radical agenda.

We cannot let that pressure have its desired effect, and cause our friends in the Senate to waver. Your phone calls are critically needed in order to give the Senate majority the support it urgently needs to HOLD FAST and not surrender.

 Priests for Life needs every dollar you can send our way so that we can rally hundreds of thousands and hopefully millions of freedom-loving, pro-life Americans to join us in this fight.

Here’s what your dollars will allow us to do:

• Send emails like this one that I sent you to people and rally them to contact Sen. McConnell and their two U.S. Senators

• Produce 60-second ads for Catholic and Christian radio stations urging listeners to call their Senators

• Place ads in newspapers and other publications giving readers actions they can take to Protect the Supreme Court

• Produce videos for social media sites like Facebook and YouTube urging people to contact their Senators and tell them to HOLD FAST on confirming a new Justice

• Blast out “Action Alerts” via email to pro-life activists and get them involved in the fight to Protect the Supreme Court

It’s going to cost Priests for Life upwards of $750,000 to do all that work.

Keep in mind, this is money over and above the dollars needed to fund all of our other projects … including our lawsuit against the HHS mandate that’s being argued before the Supreme Court.

That’s why your gift is so desperately and so urgently needed.

If the abortionists gain control of the Supreme Court it will make our job of ending legalized abortion-on-demand in America all but impossible. As it is now the deck is stacked against us.

Another "Tea"riffic Mother-Daughter Program

It has been said that our mother–daughter program keeps getting bigger and better and this year was no exception. Forty eight families participated with 60 girls in our 5th Annual Mother Daughter Tea located at the beautiful Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Doylestown, PA. As always, the afternoon was spent in a loving atmosphere with topics important to moms with girls ages 10 to 14.

 Participants learned how to be young women of grace, received health care advice from professionals, were treated to a modesty fashion show and gained insight into the perils of today’s society which can destroy a woman’s dignity and worth in the eyes of God. Our FertilityCareTM Practitioners were there to instruct mothers and their daughters in the normal physical development that occurs in adolescence, proper care and hygiene and the menstrual cycle bio-markers that can indicate the need for medical evaluation.

That’s me fighting off acute bronchitis with dizzy spells, but well enough to let the residents of Columbus over channel 10 in Ohio that Academia thuggery levied against students that don't hold their liberal views will not be tolerated. This miscarriage of judgment was carried out by Deans of the Moritz Law School. LEARN and CBR would like to thank Madison Gessitto for her courage to write about the decimating effects of abortion in the Black Community. Her op-ed published in the Washington Times stirred the "Politically Correct" nest of the Moritz Law School. Students’ objectivity and safety should come first, not ideology and political correctness.

Once again L.E.A.R.N. (click here to donate) and CBR combined their talents to make a great presentation at Ohio State University in front of the Moritz Law School. The students were warned we were coming and there were those waiting to greet us. To their surprise there were 12 African Americans along with the total crew of 20 people. This often is confusing to many students since they have been always told that pro-lifers are aged old white men who are republican and bigoted towards minorities that need abortion. Our team hardly reflects that narrative and its great, by just standing out front for the sake of the unborn removes the venire of lies by the pro-abortion advocates.

Well, there was a lot of discussion and even the Deans came out seething in silence as they stood and beheld our "All Black Life Matters" display exposing the lie they are telling their students and the lie the Abortion industry is telling the world.

Our protest was just for a day but it will not end here. We want Deans to know across America that the campuses that provide needed degreed education for our children doesn’t mean that they are prisoners of their ideology. Our children's presence on college campuses doesn’t call for the coercion and thug tactics to control the views of the students.

Our campuses should remain the market place of ideas and differences of opinion. There should be honest debate without penalty of censorship or exclusion. These gestapo tactics should be exposed and students who are being denied due to their “conservative views” should come forward and sound the alarm.

We will be heading to The University of Perdue next month. We would like to stay 3 days on campus. The “All Black Life Matters Project" is desperately needed there and we are looking to take a full team there in April. Your contribution and consistent help is well appreciated and goes to the problem. Due to our team diversity we see Black, White , Hispanic students deeply engaged with our team members and I can’t think of anything that changes minds more in the public square that our ' All Black Life Matters projects"

We are here to make a difference and that’s what this project is doing. Remember, we have taken back a mantra that George Soro was going to use for political intimidation and begun a conversation that had been so disparately needed in the Black Community. This ironically is a conversation that "Black Life Matters” refuses to have. I plan to make George Soros wish he had never promoted this mantra or looked twice in its direction.
