Abortion Survivor: I Feel a Burden to Be a Voice for Those Who Don’t Have One

In 2014, a group of young pro-life advocates produced a stunning video called “Listen to the Beat.” The video demonstrates the impact of abortion on the United States by playing the same number of drumbeats as abortions that occur each day in our nation. 

As the drums beat, a young man talks about the devastating toll abortion has caused in the U.S. and the pro-life generation’s commitment to ending it.

In a stunning turn, the viewer learns that the young man is an abortion survivor himself.

Josiah Presley, the young man in the video, is now a 21-year-old college student. Presley agreed to share more of his story with the readers of Live Action News.

After surviving a dilation and curettage (D & C) abortion in South Korea at eight weeks gestation, Presley was born healthy, but with a disfigured arm — likely attributable to the attempt on his life. He was adopted at 13 months of age and came to live with his family in Oklahoma, where he would ultimately be one of 12 siblings, including 10 adopted children and the two biological children of his adoptive parents.

Presley always knew he was adopted, but he did not know he was an abortion survivor until the age of 13.

“When I was told at first, I kept it to myself for a while,” explained Presley. “However, as the Lord worked in my life and I began to get involved in pro-life ministries, God placed it on my heart to share my story.”

France Debates Law that Would Criminalize Pro-Life Websites

Proposal a “Pro-Death Storm”

The socialist government of France is fast-tracking a bill aimed at criminalizing websites that might dissuade women from abortion.

The newly proposed “digital interference” law to be debated in the Assemblée nationale on Thursday aims at cracking down on French websites that would, in the words of the bill, “deliberately mislead, intimidate and/or exert psychological or moral pressure to discourage recourse to abortion.”

Convicted website owners could face two years in prison and fines up to 30,000 euros ($31,799 USD).

Dr. Joseph Meaney, director of international coordination for Human Life International, called the proposal a “pro-death storm” that has many concerned.

“It is aimed at banning pro-life websites and is really plunging towards ‘thought crimes.’ Even liberal bishops are speaking out against the penal sanctions for free speech,” he told LifeSiteNews.

Two of the country’s leading prelates have strongly condemned the proposal.

Cardinal André Vingt-Trois of Paris criticized the French government “obsession” with abortion in a radio interview on Friday, stating that the proposed legislation seems to have as its objective the “promotion of abortion as a normal outcome of pregnancy.”

He questioned why the government would make its top priority counteracting the influence of pro-life websites instead of sites that promote “radical terrorism.”

Criminal Charges Filed Against Anglican Priest for Praying Outside Planned Parenthood Abortion Clinic

Father James Linton was arrested last month outside the San Bernardino Planned Parenthood for offering to pray with women entering the abortion facility. Police held him for six hours and later charged him with criminal trespass. If convicted, Father Linton could be sentenced to up to 90 days in jail and a $400 fine.

When he was arrested, Father Linton, an Anglican pastor, was standing on a public easement offering incoming mothers and fathers alternatives to abortion and praying for them to change their minds.

“The arrest of Father Linton is an outrageous violation of his First Amendment rights,” stated Allison Aranda, Senior Staff Counsel for the Life Legal Defense Foundation and a former prosecutor for Riverside County. “Father Linton simply offered assistance and alternatives to its patrons that could save the lives of their precious babies.”

Last year, Life Legal clients David Daleiden and the Center for Medical Progress released videos of their undercover investigation of Planned Parenthood. At the time, Father Linton’s wife was pregnant with their third child.

“The combination of seeing abortion victims sorted through for parts and my wife being pregnant destroyed me,” Linton said. “She organized a protest and I’ve been in front of the clinic every Friday since.”

Every Friday, the San Bernardino Planned Parenthood facility performs abortions up to 20 weeks of pregnancy. Due in part to Father Linton’s faithful presence and success at saving babies, the abortion facility recently built a wall in an attempt to hinder sidewalk counselors and prevent them from speaking to mothers and fathers in the parking lot.

Congressional Panel Refers Planned Parenthood for Prosecution

The Select Panel on Infant Lives has made numerous referrals for criminal and regulatory prosecution pursuant to its investigation into Planned Parenthood for the trafficking of fetal body parts. The Select Panel was created after David Daleiden released a series of videos exposing Planned Parenthood’s role in the sale and purchase of the remains of aborted babies.

Rep. Mia Love of Utah announced the referrals on the House floor shortly before the House voted on legislation to continue funding the Select Panel. Love said the Panel has thus far “uncovered alarming revelations about the fetal tissue industry,” which have triggered at least eight investigations across the nation.

General Assembly Rejects Controversial Sex Ed Programming, Launches Anti-Bullying Campaign

NEW YORK, December 2 (C-Fam) A three-year campaign to have the General Assembly endorse “comprehensive sexuality education” programming fizzled out during negotiations this year.

Sponsors of the annual General Assembly resolution on the “Rights of the Child” did not include “comprehensive sexuality education” in the draft resolution that is being considered for adoption, resulting in a kind of ceasefire on one of the most heated UN battles on social issues.

European and World Health Organization standards for comprehensive sexuality education prescribe teaching children under 4 years old about “early childhood masturbation” and promote social acceptance of homosexuality and transgenderism throughout primary school.

Accomplishments: Select Panel Made Nine Criminal Referrals for Aborted Baby Parts Trafficking

Washington, DC - The House Select Panel on Infant Lives has released a list of nine criminal and regulatory referrals against abortion providers and/or fetal tissue procurement companies made as a result of their investigation into the illegal practice of selling aborted baby remains for profit.

The list was released in advance of an expected vote today on H. Res. 933, which would cover the expenses of the Select Panel's work through the end of the year. Floor debate is currently scheduled to begin around 2:30pm ET, with 30 minutes for debate allotted to each of the two sides.

Late-term Abortionist Martin Haskell Loses Facility License!

Abortionist's Lawyer Credits Created Equal's "Calling Out Doctors" for License Revocation

Columbus, OH – Dec 1, 2016 – The facility license for notorious abortionist Martin Haskell's Dayton Women's Med Center has been revoked! According to the Associated Press, Haskell's attorney, Jennifer Branch, credits Created Equal's Killers Among Us project with the development.

Ohio law requires ambulatory surgical centers to have minimum standards, among which is a hospital transfer agreement. For years Haskell has been evading this state requirement through a variance or waiver. Earlier this year, we reported Haskell's variance had been denied because he was struggling to acquire enough doctors to sign on to support him.

"Our efforts combined with local activists have had an impact, evidenced by Haskell's inability to get individual doctors or hospitals to support his practice, leaving him with neither a transfer agreement nor a substantive basis for a variance. Now, it appears he may be forced to close his doors." – Mark Harrington, National Director, Created Equal

Since last year, we've been actively discouraging doctors from sullying their hands by collaborating with Haskell. Our Killers Among Us project, which includes mobile billboards, hand-delivered postcards, and more, was active in the Dayton area to expose those who collaborate with Haskell.

From the AP story:

"The anti-abortion group Created Equal had launched a campaign aimed at calling out doctors involved in abortions, which included posters, mailers and vehicles circulating through the doctors' neighborhoods publicizing their names. 

"'Other ob/gyn's in the community saw what was going on and didn't want to be part of it,' (Attorney for Martin Haskell Jennifer) Branch said."

The result? Haskell failed to acquire enough doctors to serve as backup, his variance was denied, and today we can announce his facility license has been revoked by the Ohio Department of Health!

According to the AP, Haskell has 15 days to appeal the order.

Life: The Choice "Pro-Choicers" Can't Stand

One of the biggest lies foisted on the American people by the abortion lobby and the pro-abortion media is their self-description as "pro-choice."

But what happens when a young lady's judgment leads her to choose life?

Suddenly, the abortion crowd doesn't think her insight is so sacred.

A young teenager, known only as Belén to protect her privacy, captured the pro-abortion community's attention, inspiring all sorts of sweeping proclamations about how aborting the baby she was carrying would be "the best option" for Belén's well-being.

The pro-abortion crowd, of course, all agreed -- but Belén herself did not. Declaring her intention to "love the baby very much," she wants to keep her child and give him or her a chance at life.

That was enough for the self-described "pro-choice" crowd to throw choice out the window. They were certain that Belén didn't know what she was doing.

"At that age the girl doesn't have a capacity of discernment," one observer said.

Another declared, "it's not possible for any person at that age to have the capacity to understand the consequences on an act of that nature."

One even sneered that she had to give birth "because of Jesus."

So let's review. According to abortion supporters: if you want an abortion, you are wise and strong. If you don't, you're incompetent and immature.

The abortion lobby is pulling a massive shell game on the national discussion. Their every standard is just an excuse to rationalize abortion, free to be thrown away and totally contradicted whenever it's convenient for them.

That's why it's so important for you and me to expose their hypocrisy and end the unabated slaughter of the unborn.

               

The National Pro-Life Alliance occupies a unique and important role in the pro-life movement. The focus of many other pro-life organizations is research, publications or counseling. These are all important and worthy activities, but the National Pro-Life Alliance is singular in its focus on passing pro-life legislation that will protect the unborn from the moment of conception onward.
