Pennsylvania House Votes to Ban Brutal Dismemberment Abortions

from Maria Gallagher, Legislative Director
Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation

HARRISBURG, Pa. –Preborn babies in Pennsylvania would no longer have to undergo brutal dismemberment abortions, under a bill passed Tuesday by the PA House of Representatives.

Senate Bill 3, which has already passed the PA Senate, would ban abortions in which living babies are torn limb by limb from their mothers’ wombs. The legislation would also change the abortion limit in PA from six months to five months gestation to reflect medical advances that allow doctors to save tiny premature infants.

“No child in Pennsylvania should be subjected to the inhumane practice of dismemberment abortions, where they are brutally assaulted in their mothers’ wombs,” said Maria Gallagher, legislative director for the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation, an affiliate of National Right to Life. “This long-overdue legislation also ensures that mothers would not have to grieve children whose lives are taken in such a cruel way,” Gallagher added.

Specifically, Senate Bill 3 would make it illegal to cause “the death of an unborn child by means of dismembering the unborn child and extracting the unborn child one piece at a time from the uterus through the use of clamps, grasping forceps, tongs, scissors or similar instruments.”

A statewide poll found strong support for a dismemberment ban in Pennsylvania.

“A survey of Pennsylvanians showed that the vast majority—61 percent—approve of a ban on lethal dismemberment abortions,” Gallagher said. “The support is even higher among women, with 64 percent of female respondents in favor of such a ban.”

The bill includes exceptions for saving the life of the mother and to prevent the substantial and irreversible impairment of a major bodily function of a woman.

“So many women have come to me, asking when we will see an end to the heinous practice of dismemberment abortions in Pennsylvania,” Gallagher said. “We urge Governor Tom Wolf to sign this bill into law—for the well-being of precious children and their mothers throughout the Commonwealth,” Gallagher added.

As the state affiliate of National Right to Life, PPLF is committed to promoting the dignity and value of human life from conception to natural death and to restoring legal protection for preborn children.

“This is Us” Star Mandy Moore and Other Celebrities Will Headline Planned Parenthood Christmas Show

By Katie Yoder
Life News

It’s called ironic. Big name celebrities are preparing to celebrate Baby Jesus’ birth by fundraising for America’s largest producer of aborted babies.

On Saturday, musician Tony Thaxton began advertising his second annual Feliz Navipod’s Feliz Navidad Variety Show “benefiting Planned Parenthood.” Based on a podcast Thaxton hosts with Todd Cooper, the show will be held in Los Angeles on Dec. 18. Tickets are going for $15.

“Things kind of xxxx right now. So, let’s try and make them not xxxx,” the show description read. “Let’s have a fun night and get into the holiday spirit for a great cause at Feliz Navipod’s Feliz Navidad Variety Show. A night of comedy and music benefiting Planned Parenthood. PLUS, free Christmas treats!”

But the big draw to the show is who’s in it – beginning with actress Mandy Moore. Known for her roles in films like A Walk to Remember and Tangled, Moore currently stars in NBC’s This Is Us, a popular family-friendly show.

And it looks like she brought others with her. Her fiancΓ©, Taylor Goldsmith of the Dawes band, will be in the show along with her This Is Us colleague Chris Sullivan.

Others in the show include comedians Rory Scovel, April Richardson, Daniel Van Kirk and the trio Don’t Stop or We’ll Die. Actors Nick Thune (Knocked Up) and Colin Hanks (King Kong) will also be present.

Gov. Tom Wolf’s Campaign Creates Video Defending Dismemberment Abortions Tearing Off Babies’ Limbs

By Micaiah Bilger
Life News

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf is campaigning for re-election with a promise to fight for women’s ability to have their nearly fully-formed unborn babies aborted in brutal dismemberment abortions.

Wolf released a new pro-abortion campaign ad this week as the Pennsylvania Senate considers Senate Bill 3, PennLive reports. The legislation would prohibit brutal dismemberment abortions that tear nearly fully-formed unborn babies limb from limb while their hearts are beating and ban abortions after 20 weeks when strong scientific evidence indicates unborn babies can feel pain.

“I’m going to veto Senate Bill 3 if it gets to my desk,” Wolf said in a statement Monday. “We have to make sure that women in Pennsylvania have the right to make their own decisions about their health care issues.”
The bill appears likely to pass the state Senate, but it is unclear if there are enough votes to override Wolf’s veto.

In his new campaign video, Wolf used the tragic story of a woman whose unborn baby girl was diagnosed with a fatal genetic abnormality at 20 weeks of pregnancy. Karen Agatone and her husband chose to have their daughter, their first child, aborted at 21 weeks of pregnancy. They said they had their unborn daughter aborted because they did not want her to suffer.

“A week before, we had been out to buy a crib for her,” Agatone said. “We had no idea that something could go so horribly wrong for her … this could happen to anybody.”
She praised Wolf for promising to veto the legislation, saying every woman should be able to choose to abort their unborn babies past 20 weeks of pregnancy.

Wolf also described the dismemberment abortion ban as “a vile assault” on women.

“So I want to be clear,” Wolf said. “This legislation is a disingenuous and bald-faced attempt to pass the most extreme anti-choice legislation in this country.”
Wolf and liberal news outlets have been describing Senate Bill 3 as extreme; but in comparison to the rest of the world, the United States’ laws are radically pro-abortion. The U.S. is one of just seven countries that allow abortions for any reason after 20 weeks – a fact confirmed by the Washington Post fact checker in October.

The legislation also has strong public support.

“A statewide poll showed that the vast majority of Pennsylvanians support a ban on brutal dismemberment abortions. In fact, the support was even higher among women,” said Maria Gallagher, legislative director for the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation, when the bill passed a House committee last week. “A ban on this alarming practice is long overdue.”
Gallagher said about 1,550 babies are killed in Pennsylvania every year in dismemberment abortions. State Department of Health reports indicate that nearly 400 unborn babies also are aborted past 20 weeks annually.

A handful of states also have passed dismemberment abortion bans, which are the brainchild of the National Right to Life Committee.

Blogger's note to Gov. Wolf:  The only 'vile assault' is on the child in the womb. Tearing an unborn baby, limb from limb, is an unspeakable, horrendous method of killing a human being.  Dismemberment of unborn babies is pre-meditated murder and is neither 'health care' for the mother nor for the unborn baby.

Holy scripture declares the sacredness and inestimable worth of every human life. May the scourge of abortion be abolished from our nation and all life protected from the womb to natural death.

For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
How precious to me are your thoughts,God!
How vast is the sum of them!
Were I to count them,
they would outnumber the grains of sand—
when I awake, I am still with you.

‘Miracle Baby’ Amelia Survives the Abortion Pill

By Nancy Flanders
Live Action News

Twenty year-old Shannon Skinner and her boyfriend, 24-year-old Anthony Hunt, were already parents to 14-month-old daughter Lacie when they discovered they were expecting baby number two. Since they had been using contraception, the pregnancy was completely unexpected and the young couple thought abortion would be best. But after Skinner took the abortion pill, their preborn baby girl Amelia became known as an abortion survivor.
“We call her our miracle baby because we just don’t know how she survived,” Skinner told The Daily Mail. “She must have really wanted to be here. Watching her sleep, I can’t bear to think of her not existing. For a long time I felt guilty, but now I just feel relief.”

Amelia abortion pill survivorAfter Amelia survived the abortion pill, her mother struggled with preterm contractions

Labor and delivery with her first daughter had been brutal on Skinner, causing a third-degree tear and ruptured internal organs. Doctors told her that this second pregnancy so soon after the major surgery to repair the damage would pose a serious threat to her health. Doctors made Skinner feel there was no other option than abortion.

“When I found out I was pregnant with Amelia, my first instinct was to keep her, but I kept thinking of Lacie and how unfair it would be on her if anything happened to me and she was left alone or I couldn’t look after her,” explained Skinner, who was suffering from post-partum depression.

At just about eight weeks gestation, Skinner was given the abortion pill at a Marie Stopes clinic in Bristol in the United Kingdom. Though they nearly changed their minds and walked out of the clinic, Skinner still worried about leaving Lacie motherless and convinced herself that her preborn child wasn’t a baby yet — as the abortion industry would have women believe.

Skinner was given the two-dose abortion pill regimen, which includes mifepristone to inhibit the progesterone hormone (which is critical to sustaining a preborn child) followed by misoprostol, which she was told to take four hours later. She was also given a contraceptive implant.

For two days, Skinner dealt with bleeding but she told The Daily Mail that it was minor compared to the guilt that was overwhelming her. However, three months later she felt movement and a pregnancy test came back positive. An ultrasound confirmed the amazing news.

“I just bawled my eyes out because it was the last thing I was expecting,” said Skinner. “I was out of my mind with worry that the abortion pill had affected the baby, but it wasn’t until I saw the 3D scan of my daughter on Christmas Eve that I fell in love with her. Once I’d see her face, everything was different.”

Man Won’t Pay Taxes To Protest Government Funding Abortions

By Grace Carr
The Daily Caller

A Christian man refused to pay his taxes because some of his tax dollars go to fund abortions, claiming that to do so violates his religious principles.
“I don’t believe I have broken any laws as I have a duty (and right) to protect my conscience and to ‘practice’ religion freely,” Michael Bowman wrote in a declaration filed in court, according to Oregon Live. Officials charged Bowman with federal tax evasion and is fighting for his right not to pay.
He explain in his legal documents that if a woman has the right to do what she wills with her body and the baby inside of her, then he should be able to choose as well. The state should allow him to choose not to support a practice he disagrees with without retaliation, he claims.

Bowman charges that according to the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, he should be exempt from paying taxes in Oregon, because some of that money will go to fund a practice that his religion vehemently opposes. “A woman has the right to choose but apparently the prosecutor feels I do not have a right to choose,” Bowman wrote in the legal brief.
“He wants to pay taxes but until the government stops promoting the murder of babies with his income taxes, he cannot pay,” his lawyer, Matthew Schindler, wrote in a motion, asking the court to drop the tax evasion charges against his client.
“The very moment, the instant that his money is no longer being used to promote murder, he will gladly pay every cent he owes to the government,” Schindler added.
Others have tried Bowman’s argument in the past, however, and have been unsuccessful.
“This is a losing claim,” said Notre Dame tax law professor, Lloyd Mayer, Oregon Live reports.
Oregon has some of the loosest laws regarding abortion restrictions in the country. Oregonian women can have an abortion for any reason up until birth and health insurers must foot the cost of the procedures via the Reproductive Health Equity Act. The measure, passed in August, requires health insurers to provide birth control and abortion without charge, and even sets aside state funds for noncitizens.

Catholic Archbishop: “Abortions Violate the Rights of the Unborn. It’s Willful Killing of Innocent Life”

By Micaiah Bilger
Life News

Catholic Archbishop Thomas Luke Msusa of Malawi urged the nation’s political leaders to continue protecting unborn babies’ lives during a November conference in the capital of Lilongwe.

Many African nations are facing intense global pressure to legalize the killing of unborn babies. Malawi lawmakers currently are considering a bill to allow abortions in cases of rape, fetal anomalies and threats to the mother’s physical or mental health, despite strong opposition by their own citizens.

Crux reports Msusa, speaking at the World Congress of Families two weeks ago, said the country must continue protecting both mother and child.
“We believe that life begins at conception; sacredness and sanctity of human life; both the mother and unborn child have the right to life and that all instances of direct abortions are a violation of the rights of the unborn because it is a willful killing of innocent life,” the archbishop said.
Msusa continued:
“We note in particular that there are some worrisome trends in our democratization and emancipation that push for a worldview independent of and side-lining God, and making human beings dependent on their own intellect, determining for themselves what is right and what is wrong. We are saddened to read that religion should not regulate morals.”
The theme of the conference was “The African Family and Cultural Colonization.”

Last December, thousands of Malawi residents marched in protest of abortion across the country after news broke about the legislation. The march demonstrated how strong the public opposition to abortion is in Malawi.

Msusa suggested that lawmakers allow voters to decide by referendum whether to legalize abortion, according to the report.

Mother Refuses Abortion for One of Her Triplets: ‘He Was in Me and He Was Safe’

By Kelli
National Right to Life

Tracey Kirby was shocked and excited when she learned she was pregnant with three boys – one singleton and a set of twins. But at 18-19 weeks, doctors found that the twins had twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, in which the blood vessels of the twins’ shared placenta are connected, resulting in one twin receiving too much blood and the other not receiving enough.

Doctors suggested a “selective reduction,” but Tracey and husband Paul were adamantly against it. Tracey told the UK’s Mirror, “The idea of selective reduction [terminating one or more fetuses in the pregnancy] was discussed, but it just wasn’t something I was willing to do. I just thought ‘I’m going to do the best I can for the three of them’.” She added that a selective reduction would have also put her at greater risk for miscarrying all three boys.

Even though Tracey’s pregnancy was a highly unusual circumstance, it is not uncommon for doctors to suggest selective reduction in pregnancies with multiples. Live Action News’ Rebecca Downs described the disturbing procedure in a previous article:

The method used by Dr. Mark I. Evans involves targeting one or more of the preborn children and inserting a needle of potassium chloride into his or her heart. Sometimes the babies move before succumbing to death and get the first needle in an arm or a leg, but once the needle enters a baby’s heart, it is fatal. The idea has alarmingly become a trend over the past few years.

Instead, Tracey had an ablation surgery — which “involves putting a needle and camera into the mum’s womb, and using a laser to seal off the connecting blood vessels in the shared placenta” — in an attempt to remediate the twins’ condition, and during the procedure all the triplets were visible.

Tracey told the Mirror of the twins, “… you could see their little finger nails and they both had blond hair.”

Sadly, the surgery was unsuccessful and the twin receiving too much blood passed away in the womb at approximately 25 weeks. “It was just such a complete shock. They said he’d probably had a cardiac arrest with all that extra blood pumping into his body,” Tracey told the Mirror. His parents named him Cayden (“little fighter” in Celtic), chosen because “he carried on fighting until his little heart gave up.”

Tracey carried all three boys for seven more weeks. “I knew [Cayden] was in there and with his brothers and I just wanted to keep things that way,” Tracey told the Mirror. “I saw a bereavement specialist and we started discussing the funeral.”

“Those seven weeks I had him in my tummy and I treasured that. I knew once they were born he would be gone. I liked that he was in me and he was safe. For the rest of my pregnancy I could talk to all three of them and I was happy they were all together,” she said.
Brothers Henry and James came into the world alive at 32 weeks. James was 3 pounds, 6 ounces, and Henry (the surviving twin) weighed just 1 pound, 8 ounces.

In the video above, Tracey speaks about receiving bereavement support after the loss of little Cayden. However, she’s reminded of the loss every time someone refers to the boys as “twins.” She told the Mirror, “… [I]t still hits me when people call the boys twins – they’ll always be triplets…. there isn’t a day goes by where we don’t think about Cayden.”

Abby Johnson will Lead a Rally at PP in Waco on Tuesday, Dec. 19th

from John Pisciotta, Director
Pro-Life Waco

As usual, I have good news and bad news in our battle against the shedding of innocent blood at the hands of Planned Parenthood in Waco.

My best information is that we may be spared abortions again this week. However, for the week before Christmas there will likely be abortions onDecember 20, 21st, and 22nd. This is a Wednesday/Thursday/Friday.

The good news is that Abby Johnson will be coming to Waco on Tuesday, December 19 for a rally during the noon hour at Planned Parenthood at 700 West Hwy. 6. Abby Johnson managed an abortion facility in Bryan, Texas and fled to the pro-life side in October of 2009. Abby has written, spoken, and acted in dynamic ways for the Gospel of Life since here conversion.

Please mark your calendar. Pro-Life Waco invites you to come out as early as 11 AM on the 19th for prayer, fellowship, and some hot refreshments to warm you up for Abby's encouragement and other rally features. Central Texas life defenders will call out PP for a likely Christmas week massacre. We hope for press coverage.

This will be an excellent opportunity for you and me to invite new friends to take in a life-defender event.

I don't know the name of the rally. Perhaps you can name the event. The theme is the disgraceful abomination of Planned Parenthood extinguishing the lives of babies in the womb just days before their first Christmas. I have thought of these rally names. You can do better at naming than this senior citizen.

--Christmas is for Angels not Abortions
--Abortions are not Christmas gifts
--No to Planned Parenthood Abortions at Christmas

Just write meat prolifewaco@gmail.com
to let me know what you think we ought to name the rally.

I want everyone to know that Abby Johnson took the initiative to propose this event and did so without compensation. Central Texas life defenders are getting outstanding support for our valiant efforts. I have stated that our discipleship should make Planned Parenthood in Waco face stronger opposition than any other abortion facility in the history of the State of Texas. I believe this is happening. Let's pull together and pray together for this worthy cause. None of us will receive personal benefit from what we do except to know that we have aligned our actions with God’s will.

We continue our outreach on many fronts:

Pray. Pray. Pray.

At any time, come and pray along the front of PP near the HWY 6 service road. The sidewalk has been cut into pieces and taken away. We can pray on sand. We do not come to 700 W HWY 6 for comfort. Of course, pray for life wherever you are.

Christmas Caroling on Fridays, December 15 and 22

In two decades, Pro-Life Waco has never done this. We will come together on the in the PP public right-of-way at the corner of HWY 6 service road and Sanger Avenue for Christmas Caroling on two consecutive Fridays before Christmas. The time is 4 to 5:30 pm. The address is 700 W. HWY 6. Come with your family and friends. Ellen Staniszewski and her musical elves will have the music prepared for you to sing. Also, there will be refreshments to drink and eat. I have heard a rumor that Santa will appear on one or both evenings. The caroling may also go out into the adjacent residential neighborhood, which suffers most from having an abortion facility just steps away from their residences. This will be a high-spirited time of fellowship. We engage a difficult conflict. However, Planned Parenthood will never take away our joy in supporting the Gospel of Life.

Wednesday, December 13: 8 am Mass. Then Rosary at HWY 6.

The 8 am Mass on Wednesday the 13th at St. Louis Church (2001 N 25th Street) will be celebrated for the pro-life intentions of life and love for babies and mothers. Then, following the Mass, those who wish and others around the city will drive out to the Plan Parenthood abortion/birth control facility on HWY 6 to pray the Rosary and other prayers. Wednesday mornings at PP have developed into an enjoyable time of camaraderie. All, Catholic or not, are welcome.

T-Shirt Tuesday.

YOU are the most powerful sign possible. Each Tuesday is pro-life T-shirt Tuesday. Wear either your black or your red T-shirt. I have had such positive experiences wearing my T-shirts in public on Tuesdays and other days.

New developments at Planned Parenthood unfolded at a dizzying pace last week. Here’s a summary:

Construction of 8-foot-tall wooden fence around Planned Parenthood continues. The frame is 80% complete. Only a very small segment of the actual fence is installed. When complete, the fence will block Planned Parenthood clients and employees from seeing the pro-life faithful (except for the drive way). The fence may be completed by the end of the week.

The destruction of the Planned Parenthood sidewalk happened. In a very curious turn of events, the sidewalk installed to meet Waco zoning laws was removed at substantial expense to Planned Parenthood. This sidewalk was 6 foot-wide and the length of a football field. This is one of the shortest-lived sidewalks in the history of mankind. One might say that the sidewalk was aborted.

Both the Waco Police Department and the city of Waco Zoning Department have banned parking the billboard truck either in street parking or at a clinic parking space for which I have permission to park.

I’m looking closely into the legalities of what the city is has done and is doing regarding the the sidewalk and the banning of Carolyn the billboard truck.

There will be NO overpass outreach over Interstate 35 on Saturday, December 16.
Wow, I wonder what surprises are ahead for this week.

As Christmas approaches let us pray for decisions for life and love and not . . .(I don’t want to end this message with that awful word.)

Tens of Thousands Expected to Protest Abortion in Netherlands this Weekend

By Jonathan Van Maren
National Right to Life

NETHERLANDS, December 7, 2017 — Cry for Life, a Dutch pro-life organization that has been battling the Culture of Death in the Netherlands since 1985, is predicting a massive turnout for the 25th March for Life in The Hague this weekend, with tens of thousands of people expected to participate in the silent march.

The theme of the March for Life, which will feature Dutch politicians as well as a pro-life UN lobbyist, is “When did your heart start beating?” and will draw attention to euthanasia as well.

Abortion was legalized in the Netherlands in 1980, and is currently legal up until 24 weeks, and legislation legalizing euthanasia was passed in 2002. The Netherlands became the first country since Nazi Germany to legalize euthanasia, and the numbers of Dutch men and women requesting euthanasia continue to rise annually.

One reason that Dutch pro-lifers expect a higher turnout and more enthusiasm this year is the fact that four of the seven operating abortion clinics in the Netherlands were shut down in 2017 due to massive fraud scandals.

Dutch abortion clinics had been submitting false reimbursements to the government, totaling nearly 15 million euros in fraudulent charges. Cry for Life hopes that pro-lifers can take advantage of the abortion industry’s setback and present Dutch women with compassionate and non-lethal options for pregnancy.

Two Companies That Sold Aborted Baby Parts for Planned Parenthood Forced to Close Down

By Steven Ertelt
Life News

In what is the first successful prosecution in the scandal involving Planned Parenthood, the abortion industry, and the sale of aborted baby parts, two companies that sold aborted baby parts for the nation’s biggest abortion company have been forced to close down.

The two California-based companies reached a settlement with the Orange County District Attorney’s office of almost $8 million dollars. As a result of the settlement the two companies will close up shop over the next couple of months and will no longer be selling parts from babies killed in abortions for Planned Parenthood or anyone else.

This is huge news and the first successful result of the effort by the Center for Medical progress and leading pro-life organizations to expose the industry surrounding the sale of aborted baby parts.

Here’s more:

Two bioscience companies that once operated in Costa Mesa have reached a $7.785-million settlement with the Orange County district attorney’s office over allegations that they illegally sold fetal tissue to companies around the world, prosecutors said Friday.

According to the settlement signed Monday, DV Biologics LLC and sister company DaVinci Biosciences LLC, both based in Yorba Linda, must cease all operations in California within 60 to 120 days. The agreement also requires the companies to admit liability for violations of state and federal laws prohibiting the sale or purchase of fetal tissue for research purposes, prosecutors said.

Also named as defendants in the settlement are company principals Estefano Isaias Sr., Estefano Isaias Jr. and Andres Isaias.
“This settlement seized all profits from DV Biologics and DaVinci Biosciences, which they acquired by viewing body parts as a commodity and illegally selling fetal tissues for valuable consideration. These companies will never be able to operate again in Orange County or the state of California,” District Attorney Tony Rackauckas said in a statement.
The companies had faced a lawsuit accusing them of illegally selling parts of aborted babies’ brains for as much as $1,100 from 2009-2015 to to pharmaceutical companies and academic institutions in Japan, China, Singapore, South Korea, Germany, Switzerland, Australia, the Netherlands, Canada and the United Kingdom. The suit alleged that DaVinci Biosciences and its sister company DV Biologics sold hundreds of fetal tissue products (aborted babies’ body parts) and stem cells to research facilities for a profit.

David Daleiden, founder of the Center for Medical Progress, which exposed Planned Parenthood and medical groups peddling aborted babies’ body parts in a series of undercover videos, said the abortion chain is a long-time partner of the two companies.
“For eight years, Planned Parenthood supplied aborted baby hearts, lungs, brains, and intestines to DV Biologics, which DV Biologics then resold for profit,” Daleiden said. “In exchange for merely providing access to aborted baby body parts, Planned Parenthood received kickback contributions from DaVinci Biosciences over the course of their eight-year contract.
“Planned Parenthood is not above the law, and law enforcement and elected representatives everywhere must now hold Planned Parenthood accountable for their barbaric profiteering off of pregnant women and the body parts of their aborted children,” Daleiden added.
