Strong Pro-Life Victory in El Salvador

“Legalizing the business of abortion is
pure foreign interest not national interest."

By Marie Smith, Parliamentary Network for Critical Issues
National Right to Life

A pro-life victory occurred in El Salvador yesterday, one of the strongest pro-life countries in the world, as anticipated votes on two bills to change the criminal code to allow exceptions to abortion failed to materialize before Congress adjourned.

A new Congress begins May 1 under control of the conservative Nationalist Republican Alliance (ARENA) which is expected to maintain protection of the unborn from the violence of abortion.

Pro-life advocates lobbied against an international effort to add exceptions to El Salvador’s ban on abortion. According to the New York Times
“What appeared to be momentum a few weeks ago in favor of relaxing the law was defeated by an alliance of social conservatives and religious organizations who succeeded in convincing legislators in the final days that their vote could have a political cost.”
The so-called ‘momentum’ resulted in large part from media outreach and hype created by leading international pro-abortion activist organizations, including the Center for Reproductive Rights (CRR), Human Rights Watch, and Ipas which hoped the Salvadoran Congress would follow recent Chile’s lead and change its constitutional protection for unborn children to allow exceptions for abortion. It did not.

Pro-life leader Julia Regina de Cardenal, the president the Yes to Life Foundation who in the past was one of those responsible for the successful effort to amend the constitution to protect children in the womb, voiced strong opposition to international interference. She also called on the Attorney for the Defense of Human Rights, Raquel Caballero, to investigate the financing of organizations in El Salvador that were leading the effort to change the law to determine the level of outside influence.

Pro-life advocates argued that the vast majority of Salvadorans defend life from conception and that “Legalizing the business of abortion is pure foreign interest not national interest #sialavida #noalaborto #abortaresmatar”

The lead sponsor of one of the bills to change the law, Deputy Johnny Wright Sol, had narrowed his bill to allow exceptions for threats to the life and health of the mother and when pregnancy of a minor is the result of rape but he realized that his bill still did not have public support. Wright stated that the challenge would be “trying to generate public opinion,” and that legislators “need to feel the pressure from society.”

#ProtestPP Rally Strong Showing in Philadelphia

Pro-Lifers peacefully assembling outside of largest PP in Pa., in center city Philly

It was a beautiful Saturday morning for #ProtestPP in Philadelphia. 100 prolifers showed up to pray. The morning began with the recitation of the rosary. It is urged by many Catholic pro-lifers to pray for an end to abortion with a rosary a day throughout May.

A young Nigerian named John Aruna opened up the event. He shared how he was blessed to have survived Boko Haram while living in Nigeria. However, when he came to America, his heart became heavy when he found out innocent babies are killed by abortion.

Dr. Monique Ruberu took the podium next as she shared the story of a young mom named Hade who walked out of Planned Parenthood, direly sick. A young worker at the Community Women's Center next door named Faith Leopold called Monique when she noticed Hade showing signs of dehydration. Faith not only got her to hospital, but she stayed with her like the Good Samaritan. Hade would later give birth to her son, Egypt.

"Your son is a miracle and gift to all of us" alluded Monique.

Pastor Bill Devlin wrapped up the rally with a call to action. He urged those gathered to continue defending the vulnerable.

Pat Stanton compared two women.. Margaret Sanger and St Teresa of Calcutta. Sanger tells that the most merciful thing to do to a child is to kill it. Meanwhile, St. Teresa of Calcutta went to the poorest of India to love the poor. She also boldly proclaim during a prayer breakfast in 1994 that abortion is the destroyer of peace.

The comparison is clear. St. Teresa shows us how to show mercy towards others.

New Jersey Action Alert! Take Action Against Gestational Surrogacy Bill

from Marie Tasy, Executive Director
New Jersey Right to Life

Please take immediate action on the following bill.

The Gestational Surrogacy bill, A1704/S482 passed both Houses of the Legislature and is now sitting on Governor Murphy's desk.

If he doesn't sign, veto or conditionally veto it by May 28th, it will become law.

Below are some reasons why this bill should be opposed:

This legislation will legalize the commodification of children and exploitation of women. It poses the risk of developing a breeder class of women, who will be subjected to exploitation by brokers and agencies that have a financial interest in the passage of this law. The Assembly Sponsor Valerie Vaneri Huttle admitted at the 2/12 Assembly Women and Children's Committee that the intended parents will have the right to direct the birth mother to have an abortion or reduction of her pregnancy if they so desire.

There are no restrictions or limitations on how many surrogate pregnancies a woman can have.

The legislation is silent on the actual language that will exist in the contract, allowing surrogacy brokers to impose all types of unknown stipulations that cater to the whims and wishes of the intended parents and direct nearly every detail of the surrogate's life up to the moment of birth and surrendering of the child.  Please click on this link to read this research article.

Please email and Call Governor Murphy and tell him to Veto A1704/S482.

#PROTESTPP in Norristown, Pennsylvania Draws Over 40 Pro-Life Warriors

from Rita Smith, M.E.V.
(Missionaries of the Gospel of Life)

Praise God!!! I am very grateful that we experienced an awesome turnout of 40+ pro-life prayer warriors 's at the Protest PP Norristown, Pennsylvania location. The weather was warm and sunny after Friday's dreary rainy forecast. People of Life were still coming to pray and witness after 12:00 pm when it had ended.

Earlier while we were praying there was a man in a white car that drove by so fast and angry. He turned the car around and past us again. My husband, Tom was not happy about witnessing this downright obnoxious and scary behavior. We all prayed a Hail Mary for him as he was very very angry.

Here is another picture taken at  Saturday's protest

I've dedicated Saturday's #ProtestPP in loving memory to precious baby Alfie! My Jesus, Mercy!!! God bless all the pro-life prayer warrior's who defend life from conception to natural death!

Please Contact Your New Jersey State Assembly Member on the Child Marriage Ban Bill

from Marie Tasy, Executive Director
New Jersey Right to Life

The Child Marriage Ban Bill, A865/S427 passed the NJ Senate on April 12. The bill is awaiting a hearing before the Assembly Judiciary Committee.

Every state except NY that has taken up this legislation has added an exception to allow teenagers aged 16-17 to marry. However, even in NY, an amendment was added to allow an exception for 17 year olds to marry.

You will recall that Governor Christie issued a CV of this bill last year suggesting that an exception be made for 16 and 17 year olds. Here is an excerpt from his conditional veto:

"It is disingenuous to hold that a 16-year-old may never consent to marriage, although New Jersey law permits the very same 16-year-old to consent to sex or obtain an abortion without so much as parental knowledge, let alone consent," Christie wrote. "That inconsistency in logic undercuts the alleged logic of an outright ban."  (Use this link to read Politico's article.)

There is an abortion component to this bill, although not expressly stated. If a pregnant 16 or 17 year old wants to marry the father of her child and will be prohibited to because of this law, the only choice she will have is unwed motherhood or abortion. If there is truly a problem with the judicial system missing cases of forced marriages, than that needs to be addressed.

This is a one size fits all approach and it's flawed legislation. Abortion groups which include NOW and Planned Parenthood support the bill.

Please contact your 2 Assembly Members and urge them to Vote No on A865/S427 unless an amendment is added to allow pregnant 16 and17 yr olds to marry.

Please call, email and schedule a meeting with your 2 State Assembly Members immediately and urge them to Vote No on A865/S427.

Hundreds of Tearful Alfie Evans Supporters Release Balloons to Honor Him After His Death

A British doctors group, The Medical Ethics Alliance,
that it called a “medical tyranny.”

By Steven Ertelt
Life News

Hundreds of tearful supporters of Alfie Evans and his family gathered at a park near Alder Hey Children’s Hospital to release balloons today to honor the little boy after his death.

Five days after a children’s hospital yanked his life support without his parent’s permission, little Alfie Evans has died. Alfie’s death comes after a massive legal battle between the hospital and his parents Tom and Kate.

An administrator of the Alfie Army Facebook page posted a video of the moving ceremony.

In posts on Facebook, Alfie’s mother and father confirmed his passing.

“Our baby boy grew his wings tonight at 2:30 am. We are heart broken. Thank you everyone for all your support,” she wrote.
“My gladiator lay down his shield and gained his wings at 02:30 absolutely heartbroken,” the boy’s father Tom Evans wrote on Facebook.
Pope Francis has responded to the death of little Alfie Evans, the disabled boy who died just days short of his 2nd birthday. The leader of the Catholic Church expressed the kind of sentiments that people around the world are expressing today. He talked about his sadness and he talked about Alfie being embraced by the Lord in heaven.
“I am deeply moved by the death of little Alfie. Today I pray especially for his parents, as God the Father receives him in his tender embrace,” the pope tweeted on Saturday.
The legal battle sparked anger nationwide in England but also internationally as people stood up for Alfie’s parents and strongly opposed courts and hospitals making life and death decisions for patients over their families objections. There is concern that the hospital contributed to his death.

As LifeNews reported, after removing his life support without permission, officials at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital waited 28 hours before finally feeding the 23-month old boy, who was fighting a rare neurological condition. Alfie’s Father Tom Evans confirmed at the time that his son was finally being fed but he condemned hospital officials for waiting so long to finally get him the nutrition he needs.

“They only started feeding him at one ‘o’clock yesterday. It’s disgusting how he’s being treated,” Evans said. “Not even an animal would be treated like this. He’s proving them wrong. It’s time to give him some grace and dignity and let him go home or to Italy.”
The other day, Alfie’s parents changed course and decided to end their battle.

Federal Judge: HHS Can’t Halt Obama-Era Sex Education Grant to Planned Parenthood

By Kelli
Live Action News

A Washington federal judge ruled this week that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is not allowed to terminate a Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program grant, which was set to extend to 2020, two years early. The lawsuit was filed by Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho, and “was joined by Planned Parenthood affiliates in Alaska, Hawaii, Iowa, North Carolina, South Carolina, Louisiana, Texas and Nebraska,” according to Courthouse News Service, arguing that early termination of the “research” from the program would cause “irreparable harm.” CNS also noted the judge’s remarks:
“The court finds that HHS arbitrarily and capriciously terminated the (teen pregnancy prevention) program,” Rice wrote. “The court determines that the public interest weighs in favor of (Planned Parenthood), as it would prevent harm to the community and prevent loss of data regarding the effectiveness of teen pregnancy prevention.”
“[S]ince the program’s inception in 2010, the teen birth rate in the United States has dropped by 41 percent,” the plaintiffs claimed in their lawsuit.
But while Planned Parenthood tries to take credit for this, the truth is that as abortions have decreased nationally, Planned Parenthood has managed to increase its market share of abortions in the United States to nearly 35 percent. And while the organization continues to sneer at abstinence-based sex education, the CDC reports that teen sexual activity has decreased 12 percent over the past two decades.

And Valerie Huber, chief of staff for the Office of Assistant Secretary of Health, stated that the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program actually “normalizes teen sex” — something sadly predictable from an organization like Planned Parenthood, which has been known to give teens dangerous advice on sex.

In 2016, Live Action News noted that a five-year HHS study revealed that “in some cases, the federally-funded sex education programs helped contribute to an increase of pregnancy and sexual exploration in teenagers, while other programs didn’t impact behavior changes at all.” Among those who received grants for this failed sex education? Planned Parenthood.

Live Action News reported last year that U.S. and U.K. studies have both recently shown that sex education and birth control access don’t reduce teen pregnancy — and in fact, may have the opposite effect.
“The public has been led to believe that providing sex education programs, as well as contraception, is the best way to reduce unwanted pregnancies, as well as the abortions that often follow,” wrote Live Action News’ Susan Michelle-Hanson. “But when these 149 UK regions cut funding for these programs, the results indicated the opposite.”

YouTube Singing Sensation Reveals How Bible Verse Saved Her From Aborting Daughter

By Calvin Freiburger
Life Site News

Kimberly Henderson is a musician who rose to prominence in 2014 thanks to a viral video of her singing to her baby daughter Vaida. And it would never have happened had God not convinced her to walk out of an abortion facility the year before.

On Monday, the Daily Wire revisited Henderson’s story, which she details in full on Facebook
“I sat in the abortion clinic for nearly 7 hours,” she writes. “I remember wearing a pink t shirt that was soaking wet from crying.”
She had made the March 15, 2013 visit out of fear of having another child all alone, her outlook further worsened by a cheating boyfriend and fear of what others might think of her.

Despite part of her being desperate to justify the abortion and feeling she had no other choice, Henderson says a heavy heart kept her in conflict and desperate for a divine signal of what to do.
“I prayed God would stop and give me a sign, give me the strength to get up and walk out of here,” she says…which is exactly what happened next.
When she was finally called to the front desk, Henderson says that fumbling through her wallet caused a card she had received the previous Saturday to fall out. It was a church card bearing Isaiah 41:10:
“Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”
Henderson is convinced God was speaking to her through that card, which finally gave her the will to turn around.

On her way out the door, a girl Henderson estimates to be 19 years old lamented, “I wish I could be brave like you.” Henderson told her she could do the same thing, but the girl replied that unspecified “serious circumstances” left her with no other choice.

Before they parted, though, the girl told her,
“When you see your baby's face for the first time you're gonna be so glad you walked out of here today.”
