Never Drink Another Starbucks Coffee Again, It Funds Planned Parenthood

By Tony Perkins, President Family Research Council
Life News

Your tax dollars aren’t the only thing supporting Planned Parenthood — proceeds from your daily coffee may be too! By now, Starbucks’s grande agenda on social issues isn’t a surprise to anyone, except maybe its CEO. Yesterday, in an interview with Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo, Kevin Johnson seemed completely oblivious to Starbucks’s ongoing relationship with the abortion giant through its matching gift program.

For Johnson, it’s been a rocky few months at the head of one of America’s biggest brands. After an embarrassing scandal in Philadelphia, when a local employee had two African Americans arrested for sitting in their shop, the damage control was in full swing.

Starbucks announced it was closing its 8,000 stores to have a “racial-bias education day” for its army of employees. But, our friend Alveda King says the company will have to do a lot more than that to end Starbucks’s bigotry. In an op-ed that’s gone viral, the niece of Martin Luther King, Jr. insists racism has been part of the company’s corporate identity long before the PR nightmare in April. She writes,
“Through its corporate donations, Starbucks contributes one of the most racist organizations in our nation’s history. Planned Parenthood, the largest single provider of abortions in the U.S., performs more than 300,000 terminations each year.
Planned Parenthood operates the nation’s largest chain of abortion facilities, and almost 80 percent of its facilities are located in minority neighborhoods. About 13 percent of American women are black, but they have more than 35 percent of the abortions.”
Of course, conservatives have known about Starbucks’s ultra-liberal ties dating back to 2012, when then-CEO Howard Schultz told shareholders that redefining marriage really is “core to the Starbucks brand.” The company went on to sign a string of legal briefs for same-sex marriage, arguing at one point that customers who didn’t like it could take their business elsewhere. Some did.

Others broke their Starbucks habit two years ago when 2nd Vote released a list of more than three dozen companies who’ve been contributing to Planned Parenthood — either directly or through an employee matching gift program. Apart from the more than half-billion dollar haul from U.S. taxpayers, the group was raking in some hefty financial support from household names like Johnson & Johnson, Levi Strauss, Microsoft, Nike, Pepsi, Tostitos, and more.

After intense public pressure, at least five of those brands dropped their partnership: AT&T, Coca-Cola, Ford, Macy’s, and Xerox. Starbucks, one of the most politically liberal companies on the market, refused — a fact obviously lost on CEO Kevin Johnson. Three times on Tuesday, he denied any knowledge of the program in his interview with Fox News’s Maria Bartiromo.

Dallas Cowboy DeQuinton Osborne Salutes His Mom, Who Chose Life at 13

By Kristi Burton Brown
National Right to Life

DeQuinton Osborne’s mom had one rule for him before he joined the NFL: get a college degree. Dorothy Osborne knows first hand the hard knocks life can throw at a person — football star or not — and she has remained determined that the son she chose life for, whom she dubs “a miracle,” will be prepared.

At age 36, Dorothy has persevered through more than most will encounter in a full lifetime. She was raped as a young fourth grader, practically homeless as a middle schooler, exposed to parents who were addicted to cocaine, and then, at age 12, Dorothy became pregnant with DeQuinton, whom she gave birth to after her 13th birthday.

She explained to The Fort Worth Star-Telegram:
“I had those ‘Why me?’ questions. Now, I’m a Christian and I have faith, and everything does happen for a reason.”
Today, her son proudly appears in social media and the news alongside his mother. He wrote, “I love my mother. She my heart, glad I could see her smile. …”

Dorothy’s faith and determination have guided her son, and both are standout examples of what it means to embrace life, no matter the cost. Dorothy explains that, when a school physical exam revealed she was pregnant, the school officials and social workers rallied around her.

She had “doctors, counselors and state employees” who came to her side, making it easier for her to choose life. Since she was so young, these professionals sought to find out what had really happened to Dorothy and to provide her with as much aid and support as possible.

Guess who Failed 14 Health Inspections Since 2017?

from Pennsylvania Family Institute

In 2011, Pennsylvania lawmakers passed a law to make all surgical abortion clinics follow the same safety rules as every other surgical facility in the state, including mandatory safety inspections. Planned Parenthood claimed these new rules were "dangerous" and "cruel" as they fought hard against its passage.

It's these inspections that led to the closing of the HIllcrest abortion facility in Harrisburg after a slew of violations were found, including not having an registered nurse on staff, failing to complete Child Protective Services background checks, failing to throw out expired material, and failing to secure drugs appropriately.

What's also alarming is this - out of the ten surgical abortion sites for Planned Parenthood, they have failed 14 of their last 30 health inspections, according to the PA Department of Health. Failures include no registered nurse in the recovery room, expired surgical materials and not submitting reports to the Department when a botched abortion occurred.

Failed inspections are nothing new to Planned Parenthood in Pennsylvania. For instance, their Philadelphia location on Locust Street has failed eleven of its last twenty health inspections, which included lack of reporting child sex abuse, improper storage of aborted babies, lack of anesthesia services procedures and no background checks on employees.

These failures are just more reasons why Pennsylvania elected officials should be protecting citizens from Planned Parenthood and not subsidizing the largest abortion provider in the state with millions of our tax dollars every year.

These homes and care centers help women in a crisis pregnancy, and as an extension their newborn children. The help these centers give takes the form of providing shelter, as well as assistance in getting medical care, job training, child care training, and the supplies the women and their children need both during pregnancy and after the birth of their babies.

We are able to contribute virtually 95% of the proceeds from this event directly to the pregnancy care centers and homes. The other 5% is used for expenses for advertising, insurance and the cost of the venue.

SHE WAS BORN IN A HOVEL - A Poem by Judy Alciatore

by Judy Alciatore

SHE WAS BORN IN A HOVEL
ONE CHRISTMAS DAY
AND HER PARENTS DECIDED
TO THROW HER AWAY

SHE 'S A BURDEN, A BOTHER.
MUCH TROUBLE TO BEAR
SO THEY LEFT HER IN A BAG
WITH NO LOVE AND NO CARE

BUT GOD IN HIS MERCY
SMILED DOWN ON THE BABE
AND SENT HIS DEAR ANGELS
'TIL SOMEONE WOULD SAVE

HER TRUE PARENTS FOUND HER
AND RAISED HER WITH LOVE
FOR THEY KNEW THAT THIS CHILD
WAS A GIFT FROM ABOVE

IF YOU ARE UNWANTED
BY THOSE WHO SHOULD CARE
REMEMBER THE SAVIOR
HE IS EVER RIGHT THERE.

FOR YOU, DID HE SUFFER
HIS DEATH, DID ABIDE.
JUST HOLD OUT YOUR HAND
HE IS THERE, AT YOUR SIDE

SO WHEN THE LORD BLESSES
AND SENDS YOU A CHILD
REMEMBER THIS POEM
AT LEAST FOR A WHILE

THANK YOU, LORD

Alveda King: Starbucks Should Stop Funding Planned Parenthood if Serious about Ending Racism

from Brutalist Press

The pro-life niece of Martin Luther King, Jr. said that if Starbucks truly wanted to end racism, it would stop funding Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider.

Alveda King, who serves as director of Civil Rights for the Unborn at Priests for Life, noted in a column at the Washington Examiner the attempt by Starbucks Tuesday to recover from the appearance of engaging in racist business practices.

Starbucks made a point of publicizing it would be conducting a “racial-bias education” day for its employees in the wake of incidents last month in two of its stores that led to accusations of racism and a call on social media for a boycott of the coffee shop chain. In one situation, two black men who were sitting in a Philadelphia Starbucks without making a purchase were arrested for trespassing.

Former Planned Parenthood Staff: We Were Told Not to Report Sexual Abuse

By Carole Novielli
Live Action News

Live Action’s Aiding Abusers docuseries, exposing how Planned Parenthood aids sexual abusers by failing to report child sexual abuse, makes it clear that the taxpayer-funded organization views children not as potential victims but more as “animals” who are unable to control their sexual appetites. In the latest release from the the Aiding Abusers docuseries, former Planned Parenthood workers reveal how the organization treated victims of sexual abuse:

In her introductions of the Former Workers video, Live Action president and founder Lila Rose points out:
When it comes to reports of sexual assault and sexual harassment, Planned Parenthood has used the slogan that we should ‘trust women,’ so lets’s follow that advice and listen to the testimonies of these four women who are former Planned Parenthood workers and managers who all say the same thing, that Planned Parenthood routinely covers-up child sexual abuse.

In the video, former Planned Parenthood employee Catherine Adair observed how the organization routinely allowed sexual abusers into the counseling rooms with their victims. When Adair objected, she was scolded and told that the victims were better off with abortions.
“There’d be girls coming in with their abusers…. Even if I went to the manager and I said, look, there’s something going on here, she would say, ‘She’s better off with the abortions. We can’t do anything about what’s going on at home but at least we can give her the abortion.’”

Monica Cline, a former HIV health educator and Title X training manager, observed Planned Parenthood’s work first hand:
I was teaching on human trafficking and statutory rape, and was telling Planned Parenthood staff of Corpus Christi and the Gulf Coast, basically, you’ve got to report when you see a girl coming in with an older man that you can tell is not her father. You know something’s wrong, you’ve got to report that; it’s considered human trafficking. It is also considered statutory rape; you’ve got to report this. And they started laughing.

Planned Parenthood Can’t Refute Report Showing It Doing Abortions on 12-Year-Old Girls, Not Reporting Sexual Abuse

By Steven Ertelt
Life News

The Planned Parenthood abortion business apparently is unable to refute a report showing it doing abortions on girls as young as 12 and failing to report the sexual abuse.

The Planned Parenthood abortion chain has been caught repeatedly performing abortions on abuse victims as young as 12 and 13 years old, failing to report suspected sexual abuse to authorities, and sending victims back to their abusers. A new investigative report report chronicles these cases and reveals Planned Parenthood’s decades-long pattern of helping child sex abusers cover up their crimes.

As LifeNews has documented multiple times, Planned Parenthood has a history of not reporting statutory rape or sexual abuse to authorities. The abortion corporation frequently covers up cases of rape with abortion and refuses to report rape cases to law enforcement.

The report, titled “Aiding Abusers: Planned Parenthood’s Cover-Up of Child Sexual Abuse”, comes less than a week after President Trump made his proposed rule official to defund Planned Parenthood of the $60 million dollars that it receives via Title X Family Planning dollars.

Planned Parenthood essentially ignored the report and issued no public statement nor anything on its Facebook or Twitter accounts regarding it. Its only comment came in the form of an attribution via Politico with the abortion giant saying that the organization that were produced the report, Live Action, relies on false evidence and distorted videos. The pro-abortion company failed to provide a single example of false evidence or distorted videos to Politico.
“In response, Planned Parenthood said that Live Action’s report draws on discredited evidence and that the group has a history of promoting doctored videos, citing a series of news reports,” Politico reported.
Meanwhile, the report relies on much more than videos — with considerable evidence from former employees, lawsuits, news articles and eyewitness testimony.

Lila Rose, president and founder of Live Action responded to Planned Parenthood and also announced the release of a new video today featuring four former Planned Parenthood employees confirming the organization’s failure to report sexual abuse.
“When Planned Parenthood calls our report ‘discredited,’ they are attacking the testimonies of the very girls who endured horrific abuse and then had it covered up by their own abortion centers,” she told LifeNews.
“To be clear, the report includes numerous court cases, multiple news media reports, official police reports, state health department records, manager testimonials admitting a failure to report, and statements of underage sex abuse victims saying they were returned to their abusers after forced abortions.”
“Planned Parenthood has said repeatedly that victims of sexual abuse should be believed, yet when they call these cases that are documented in court records and media accounts ‘discredited evidence,’ they are calling the victims liars, just like their abusers did. At a time when Planned Parenthood’s ‘Don’t ask, don’t tell’ policy on sexual abuse continues to put girls in danger every day, their callous attempt to discredit victims and their stories is especially abhorrent,” Rose added.

Planned Parenthood abortion clinics have come under fire countless times over the years for not reporting cases of statutory rape to authorities as required by state law. In another case in Arizona, officials said a Planned Parenthood center failed to provide the proper report to authorities about a victim of a young man accused of being a serial rapist. Planned Parenthood failed to report the rape, and the young man allegedly raped 18 or more teenage girls before he was caught, according to authorities.

Maternal Love and Intuition – The Case Against Abortion

By Paul Stark
National Right to Life

Editor’s note. Paul Stark is Communications Associate for Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life, NRLC’s state affiliate.

Countless pregnant women love (or grow to love) their unborn children. But we do not generally use this fact in any argument against abortion. (Abortion is wrong because it unjustly takes the life of an innocent human being who deserves respect and protection regardless of how others think or feel about her.)

Consider, however, the following argument from Baylor University philosopher Alexander Pruss.

Many unborn children are loved as if they bear the kind of intrinsic value that would make killing them wrong. If those unborn children do not have such value, then those who love them are loving irrationally (or are otherwise mistaken or confused); but it is implausible to say that pregnant women are loving irrationally.

Therefore those unborn children really do have intrinsic value that precludes killing them. And since there are no morally relevant differences between unborn children who are loved and those who are not (the opinion of others cannot determine their moral status), it follows that all unborn children are valuable and ought not be killed.

So abortion is wrong.

The decisive premise, it seems to me, is that mothers are not mistaken when they love their unborn offspring. This intuition is so strong that I doubt many pro-choice advocates would deny it, and many have loved their own unborn children and surely thought themselves reasonable in doing so. Pruss writes:
“It seems not only a sociologically natural kind of love, but a perfectly rational love. It would be implausible to suppose that the loving mother is in the throes of some conceptual confusion or is ignorant of some relevant fact. But if the love is perfectly rational and not ignorant, then the object of the love has at least the kind of value that it is loved as if it had.
Therefore, plausibly, the fetus has the kind of value which justifies the mother’s love. But the amount of value which the mother in her love predicates of the child is such as would make killing the child prima facie wrong. Hence, abortion is prima facie wrong.”
Pruss goes on to answer a number of objections to this argument. The bottom line is that the apparent reasonableness of maternal love for unborn children is significant evidence that abortion is morally impermissible. To say that abortion is permissible, on the other hand, one would have to hold that perhaps a majority of pregnant women (by loving their unborn children as individuals who really matter) are behaving irrationally or out of ignorance or confusion!
