‘Get to Work’: Pro-life Leaders Blast Senate GOP for Not Approving Trump’s Judicial Nominees

By Father Mark Hodges
Life Site News

Pro-lifers applaud President Donald Trump for fulfilling campaign promises to nominate constitutionalist judges to the nation’s courts, but senate Democrats are holding up confirmation of 87 percent of Trump’s picks.

The Hill reported that President Trump “faces an appointment blockage worse than any seen before in the past four presidencies.”

The president has made 57 nominations, but only seven have been confirmed. The rest still await approval by either the Senate Judiciary Committee or a full Senate vote.

Plus, for 10 of the 50 nominees kept waiting in the wings for a full vote, Democrats demand at least 30 hours of senate floor debate each.

“We are witnessing confirmation obstruction on steroids,” the Hill’s Victor Williams summarized. “The unprecedented obstruction is, obviously, part of a wider attempt by partisan opponents to discredit Donald Trump’s election; to ‘resist’ Trump’s governance.”
The problem isn’t confined to the judicial branch, either. Hundreds of top executive branch and agency posts remain empty, and the Senate has confirmed fewer than 50.

The coordinated delays began with the Trump cabinet, which took the longest of any president in 30 years. Trump doesn’t even have a Solicitor General to represent the government before the Supreme Court. (He has nominated Noel Francisco as this “10th Justice,” but Senate Democrats refuse to confirm him.)

In the meantime, vacancies threaten to stall the judicial system and ultra-liberal Obama leftovers are running the store.

The Hill says there are more than 130 court vacancies (1/6th of the federal judiciary), and 52 districts have declared court vacancy “emergencies.” Twenty-two more empty benches are expected by year’s end.

The impact is felt throughout the country.
“Our nation is disadvantaged when our federal judiciary does not have sufficient judges to hear cases and resolve disputes in a thorough and timely fashion,” the American Bar Association explained
“Persistent vacancies in a busy court increase the length of time that litigants and businesses wait for their day in court, create pressures to ‘robotize’ justice, and increase case backlogs that perpetuate delays in the future.”

Shocking Podcast Reports on Babies Who Survive Botched Abortions and Live to Tell About It

By Shawn Carney
Life News

Ambulances and more ambulances. Unfortunately, it’s a not-so-rare scene at Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers.

The ambulance on the left is in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The one on the right – mostly hidden by the large purple sheet – is in Raleigh, North Carolina. Yet another ambulance was seen outside the 40 Days for Life vigil in New York City.

As much as they say abortion is “safe,” it is never safe for the baby — and there can be many complications for the woman.

But the “complication” that seems to bother the abortion industry most is a failed abortion. In other words … the baby survives. And an abortion is only considered successful if a baby dies.

There are babies who do survive abortion and live to tell about it. They have powerful voices, as they were so close to becoming statistics of the abortion industry.

We take a closer look at abortion survivors — and those who work in the abortion industry — on this week’s edition of the 40 Days for Life podcast. Check it out at:

Fertility Awareness Based Methods Under Fire Following a Leaked Memo from HHS

by Gerard Migeon, Founder & CEO
Natural Womanhood

A memo that was leaked from the Department of Health and Human Services (one wonders how that happens) signaled that the department was considering cuts in contraceptives funding and an increase of funding for Fertility Awareness Based Methods (FABMs). Immediately several media outlets responded with attacks and misinformation against FABMs. Regardless of our political preferences and our views about this administration, we must continue to speak up and bring awareness of the true effectiveness of FABMs and how they can help all women.

“Fertility awareness methods are often helpful for people who are trying to conceive, but they’re a woefully ineffective method of contraception,” claims self.com. “Trump wants to replace birth control with the dubious ‘Calendar Method,’” writes Newsweek, also claiming that “Because about 30 percent of women experience irregular periods, fertility planning has one of the highest rates of failure of any family-planning method.” (another major misconception with FABMs[i]). The Daily Beast illustrates its views of “how stupid it is to promote ‘fertility awareness’ over real contraception’” by equating it to promoting a car that crashes 25% of the time without warning and requires the driver to be hospitalized to recover.

Natural Womanhood is the most far-reaching women’s health literacy program since the Pill. We exist because many women are harmed by or at risk from the use of contraceptives, and most don’t know they have a viable alternative.

Natural Womanhood is a non-profit corporation dedicated to the promotion of fertility charting, as a way to promote disease prevention, self-knowledge, relational intimacy, and effective family planning. For more information, please use this link.

289 Babies Saved From Abortion So Far During 40 Days for Life Prayer Campaign

By Shawn Carney, David Brando
40 Days for Life

Ready to start the week with extremely encouraging news? Here it is! 40 Days for Life campaign leaders tell us that so far this campaign … 289 babies have been spared from abortion – that we know of!

We can only wonder how many mothers have turned away from abortion that only God knows about. Since He’s a good and merciful God … we have to believe there are many more!

Yuba City, California

“Praise the Lord!” said one of the California leaders. “Two babies were saved from abortion at the Yuba City 40 Days for Life!”

Both of these young women went to Planned Parenthood for pregnancy tests. They were being pressured … feeling distraught … and considering the abortion pill.

Thankfully, one of the volunteers was able to provide life-affirming encouragement – giving the women information about fetal development, directing them to a pro-life pregnancy help center and exchanging contact information so they could get back in touch.

One of the women did just that, sending back a text message after her visit to the help center.

“Thank you again!” she wrote. “I’m so incredibly thankful you guys were out there that day. You guys knew the exact words to make me feel better. And I knew you guys would as soon as I pulled up. God really does work in such amazing ways!”

Austin, Texas

Austin is taking part in 40 Days for Life for the 19th time … pausing at the mid-point of the campaign for a candlelight vigil “to give thanks for the blessings we’ve seen … to be motivated … and to pray for all of those affected by abortion.”

And those blessings include “four moms (so far) that had scheduled an abortion but changed their minds and chose life,” said Heather in Austin.

There have been dozens more that have stopped to talk to counselors. Heather noted a common theme from the women they’ve spoken to.

“‘It’s so expensive here!’ is what we keep hearing about the abortion facilities,” she said. “Your presence matters!”

Portland, Oregon

“We had a turnaround!” said Therese in Portland.

A mother arrived at the abortion center with her teenage daughter. “I saw them go in,” Therese said, “but wasn’t able to hand them any information.”

About an hour and a half later, the mom came back out. “When I asked if I could give her any resources, she said no, she didn’t need any. She said her daughter had changed her mind.”

“She didn’t do it,” the mother said. “She decided not to do it.” She also said it was a hard decision for her daughter. “It’s the father that’s the problem,” she murmured.

The volunteers promised to help … and to pray. The mother and daughter left smiling.

Missouri Judge Rejects Planned Parenthood Request to Block 72-Hour Waiting Period Before Abortion

By Lauretta Brown
Life News

A Missouri judge declined Monday to block a law requiring that abortion doctors meet with their patients three days prior to the procedure. Planned Parenthood’s two Missouri affiliates, along with the ACLU, challenged the law claiming it imposed an undue burden on women seeking an abortion since the same abortion doctor may not be able to see them three days after a consultation.

Jackson County Judge S. Margene Burnett said the requirement was “at best a moderate modification of the informed consent restraints already in place” and denied Planned Parenthood’s request for a temporary restraining order.

Before the law was in place any “qualified health professional” could advise the patient on risks, abortion methods, and medical factors 72 hours prior to the abortion. This law now specifies that the health professional must be the same doctor performing the procedure.

Judge Burnett also dismissed Planned Parenthood’s argument that the new law would especially burden patients because of the scarcity of abortion doctors in the state.

Burnett said the scarcity of physicians was not the state’s doing and the law “would not place a substantial obstacle in a woman’s decision to obtain an abortion.”

Aaron Samulcek, the interim president of Planned Parenthood Great Plains, said they would continue to fight the requirement.
“The harsh reality of today’s court ruling is that this law will force some women to wait weeks for an abortion, travel hundreds of miles, or lose access altogether,” Samulcek said in a statement.

Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley, who was named in Planned Parenthood’s lawsuit, said he was “very pleased” with Monday’s ruling.
“SB5 enacts sensible regulations that protect the health of women in Missouri and we will continue to vigorously defend these,” he emphasized.

ABC’s “The Good Doctor” Features Life-Saving Surgery for Preborn Baby After a Mother Rejects Abortion

By Texas Right to Life
National Right to Life

A recent episode of the television show “The Good Doctor” tells a life-affirming story in which an ailing mother and baby are both treated by a medical team. The October 16 episode of “The Good Doctor,” which follows the residency of Dr. Shaun Murphy, accurately portrays the sometimes extreme pressure parents face to choose abortion. A 36-year-old woman who is 22 weeks pregnant faces a difficult choice in how to treat her preborn baby’s life-threatening condition while managing her own health conditions.

Despite the pressure of her doctors and husband to choose abortion, the mother insists on preserving her child’s Life and ultimately succeeds. As NewsBusters notes, “How refreshing, in an age when pro-abortion storylines are so frequently worked into television scripts, to see a pro-life message win out.”

Over the course of the episode, the mother, Barbara, fights for her baby’s Life. Barbara has already suffered three miscarriages when doctors discover that her preborn baby has a life-threatening tumor at the base of the spine.

This type of tumor, called a sacrococcygeal teratoma, endangers the baby’s Life because the tumor grows so large that the baby’s heart and blood supply are overtaxed. In recent years, this condition has been successfully treated using groundbreaking open fetal surgery.

One tiny Texan who is living proof is Lynlee Hope Boemer who underwent open fetal surgery at 23 weeks’ gestation. Today, Lynlee is a healthy one-year-old.

While “The Good Doctor” presents the option of open fetal surgery, the procedure is complicated by Barbara’s health conditions. Sadly, mothers in difficult medical situations are often told they must end their baby’s Life through abortion in order to save their own. Continuing pregnancy can be an immediate threat to a mother’s Life, but even in these rare circumstances abortion is still not necessary.

Abortion Activists Vandalize Cross Display to Memorialize Babies Killed in Abortion

By Micaiah Bilger
Life News

A pro-life student group at Northern Kentucky University had its display vandalized this month, adding to the growing reports of vandalism and threats against pro-lifers this fall.

WKYT reports the campus Students for Life group set up a cross display Sunday on campus to raise awareness about the number of unborn babies who are aborted every day in the United States.

However, sometime during the night, the crosses were pulled out of the ground, destroyed and stolen, according to the report.

Pro-life student Sebastian Torres said they filed a report with police. He said their group hopes someone with information about the vandalism will contact police.

“I think they were destroyed because students or faculty did not agree with the pro-life message of wanting to save children from abortion,” Torres said. “Unfortunately, instead of publicly debating us, they broke the law and destroyed private property.”
The Kentucky student group is not alone. Earlier this month, vandals at St. Louis University, a Catholic university in St. Louis, Missouri, destroyed a similar display set up by pro-life students.

South Carolina Citizens for Life also had its sign vandalized earlier this month. Someone spray painted over the sign and wrote profanities on it, group leader Holly Gatling told LifeNews.

Then, over the weekend, pro-life advocates in Dallas, Texas called a bomb squad after they found a suspicious package near their 40 Days for Life site. WFAA News 8 reports the Dallas Police Department later determined that the suspicious package was a hoax, quite possibly meant to scare pro-life advocates who peacefully pray outside a nearby abortion clinic.

Pro-lifers increasingly have become targets of vandalism, threats and harassment.

Catholic Leaders Attack 'Erosion of Respect' for Doctors Who Oppose Abortion

'The teaching of the Church could not be clearer in affirming that every human life must be presented and protected absolutely from the moment of conception.'

Cardinal Vincent Nichols, with Cardinal Tartaglia,
has attacked Britain's abortion laws.
By Harry Farley
Christian Today

Catholic heads in the UK are issuing a robust defence of the Church's abortion teaching after criticism of bishops' stance from within the Catholic hierarchy.

Describing having a termination as a 'grave decision' the two leaders of the Catholic Church in England, Wales and Scotland attack the 'contradiction' in abortion laws for disabled babies and praised politicians who try to change the law.

They also lambast an 'erosion of respect' for those who oppose abortion, saying doctors and nurses 'face increasing difficulty in being able to combine their dedicated professional work with their personal conviction'.

Pointing to recent cases where doctors and pharmacists feel they cannot refuse to offer abortion services, the senior bishops write:
'So much talent is being lost to important professional areas. Personal conscience is inviolable and no-one should be forced to act against their properly formed conscience in these matters. This is something which needs greater debate in our society.'
The joint statement from Cardinal Vincent Nichols, president of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales and Archbishop Philip Tartaglia, president of the Scottish Bishops' Conference, marks the 50th anniversary of the Abortion Act 1967 which first permitted terminations in some circumstances in the UK.
'Even despite the concerns raised at the time, it would, perhaps, have been difficult to predict that the number of abortions in our countries would have increased to such an alarming level,' they write, pointing to figures suggesting nearly 200,000 pregnancies were terminated in the UK in 2015 alone.
They launch an attack on disability laws in the UK, which allow abortions to take place up until birth if the baby has a deformity but ban terminations beyond the 24th week of pregnancy for babies without a disability.
'The witness of those who compete in the Paralympic games shines out as a way in which people with disability excel and compete, using their gifts to the full. We hope that greater reflection and consistency in the approach to unborn children with disabilities will lead to a change in understanding, with greater protection provided through new legislation,' they write.

On the Morality of Organ Donation and Harvesting

by Timothy Sica

Everyone who has taken their driver's permit test, has been urged to choose an “Organ and Tissue donor Card/License”. If one says yes to this, they may save a life in the near future. However that comes with a cost. In the event of a car accident, bad injury, or sickness the doctors could harvest your organs if they see no hope of recovery. According to the “facts” which you were given, your organs would only be donated if you were already dead.

When can a donated organ be harvested? When, and only when, the patient is still alive, as the blood has to be warm, and everything must be able to function properly for the future “owner”. “Unpaired Vital Organs such as the heart or the liver after a declaration of brain death, must be harvested while the heart is beating; there is normal blood pressure and temperature; there are normal salt and water balances and many internal organs and systems are functioning to maintain the unity of the body. During the hour it takes to remove a heart for transplant, the heart is still beating. Only a beating heart is acceptable for transplant. Such determination of brain death is based on absence of functioning of the brain. A measure of life is the continuing hypothalamic function which controls body temperature. If the patient is warm then that part of the brain is functioning.” (1)

If you were taken to a hospital for a serious injury and were in a coma, within the first 24 hours if the doctors saw no improvement, they could make a life or death decision. At this point it is up to the doctor's judgment, on whether you are “brain dead” or living. Now, since you have that Organ Donor card which you signed and two people witnessed, the doctors can legally harvest your organs, killing you in the process. (2)

What about those “facts” you looked up? Sadly, they are not entirely true. They are true if you believe that an unconscious person is not alive, and thus no longer a human. At the time the organs are harvested, you in fact would be alive, sensitive to pain, and would have all the other things every other living human being does. “Heartbeat and blood pressure rise as the surgeon cuts into the supposedly dead organ donor, a similar reaction to a healthy person being attacked with a knife. Some doctors recommend administering anaesthetic prior to harvesting, to prevent pain to supposedly "brain dead" donors, despite the donor officially declared dead.

Organ donors get inferior treatment than organ keepers. This happens because treatment to preserve harvestable organs increases the injuries and may even kill the patient. As the treatment is for the organ, not the patient. An organ recipient's body experiences the transplanted organ as a malignant invader to be killed. Doctors administer drugs to stop this rejection which then creates similar immune deficiency diseases to AIDS victims.” (3)

In order to better understand all this, it would be wise to understand what the term “brain dead” means. Brain dead has over 32 definitions according to doctors (4), and any of them are the correct definition. Therefore it is entirely up to the doctor to decide when someone is brain dead. Many people who have been declared brain dead have recovered.

For someone to be alive at all, their brain has to be functioning to some extent. If the body of a "brain dead" person is warm, it means that something is still working in the brain, thus showing that even though their whole brain may not be working, some of it is, thus making them not "brain dead". Just because it seems like they would never recover enough to think or care for themselves, people are often considered brain dead. However, if a single thing is functioning, like sleep brain waves, they are not "brain dead" even if there is no pulse or heartbeat. This proves that there is not actually any such thing as “brain dead”. It is a term to confuse people, and dehumanize those who would be killed in the process of organ harvesting.

If you happen to be taking a driver's test, or getting a license, make sure not to choose the “donor” option. As one can see from all the information above, they do not harvest your organs when you are dead. Though on the paperwork it says that they will not harvest until given permission by a guardian, spouse, parent, or lawyer it is often the other way around. Meaning that they will harvest the organs even against any of the above listed wishes.

Organ harvesting, brain death, and organ donation (5) are a great danger and threat to America. In some ways, it is a greater threat than abortion. In the sense that most people do not know what any of these terms mean, whereas with abortion, most people have some idea of what it is. How did we get to this point? How is it that the government, hospitals, and news all lie about this? (as well as many other things). The answer is simple as well as clear. All of these great attacks on humanity are due to the steady attacks on the family.

Pornography, contraception, abortion, and many other things have helped demoralize America to the point where euthanasia, assisted suicide, and organ harvesting are considered normal, as well as just. It is time for “The Land of the Free” to wake up. If it is legal and right to kill an unborn infant, all other stages of life will follow (as is seen with organ donation) until everyone who is considered “useless, unwanted, or even disliked” will be in danger of death.

  4. http://www.life.org.nz/euthanasia/euthanasiaethicalkeyissues/organ-harvesting/
  5. to be clear here: Donating of paired organs does not kill someone, for instance a liver. Donating of bone marrow does not kill someone. Just some examples. It is good to donate, wrong to donate by killing a person in the process
