Join Us for Three October Events for 40 Days For Life‏ in Chester County, PA

From Paulette Matthews
Chester County Pro-Life Coalition

  • Third Annual Baby Shower - October 3rd
  • Columbus Day Event
  • "The Drop Box” Movie Screening

Third Annual Baby Shower

The fire storm that the employees of Planned Parenthood have wrought upon themselves by telling the truth, has placed them in the eye of the media more than we ever could. Our visible presence in front of PP is being noticed now more than ever and better understood. And how better to publicly demonstrate our love and caring for these women and children than having our baby shower again right in front of Planned Parenthood 8th S. Wayne and W. Market Sts.

On Saturday, October 3rd from 10 AM to 2 PM, Don and I will be walking with strollers in front of PP. Bring your stroller and walk with us and bring an item for the babies.

Again, we will be supporting Chester County Women Services in West Chester and the Birthrights in both West Chester and Coatesville.

You are encourage to use this event as another way to bring attention to the fact that October is Respect Life Month and if at all possible encourage your church and organizations to collect items for the babies and bring them down to PP with you.

New and used clothing up to size 4 are welcomed. Larger size diapers are always in demand. Also Dollar Store baby items are a blessing. Those one dollar items are a great way to help children become involve in life saving activities for the unborn. Everyone likes buying baby gifts and it is doable for the children. Whatever the Holy Spirit encourages you to do, it is beyond appreciated by the three pregnancy centers.

For every 1 Planned Parenthood, there are 51 crisis pregnancy centers. Only with God's blessing and our working together can a ratio like that be created.

Columbus Day * Oct 12th 8 AM to 8 PM

40 Days for Life in Chester County encourages all men of different organizations to come down and be visible protectors of life as you pray in front of the Planned Parenthood on 8th S. Wayne street.

Your presence sends the message that abortion is not just a women's issue but also a concern for men. You have been created by God to be the authors of life. This unique and intrinsic gift from God given only to men is so misunderstood. This is a perfect opportunity to share your concerns and commitment to family life where women do not cry because of abandonment and babies do not die due to the lack of responsible fathers.

Remember to sign up your hour using this link on the  vigil calendar so the day will be filled with men and their families in prayer celebrate the gift of life for all.

"The Drop Box” Movie Screening

When: Sunday, October 18th
Time: 12:15 PM
Where: Covenant Fellowship Church, 1 Fellowship Drive, Glen Mills PA 19342 (Just behind the Target and Home Depot on Rt. 1 and 322) www.covfel.org
The Drop Box is a powerful documentary that tells the story of one man’s efforts to protect and care for newborn babies who might have otherwise been abandoned on the streets of Seoul, South Korea. Pastor Lee Jong-Rak built a “baby box”, a safe harbor to welcome and care for these babies. So far, more than 600 babies - many of whom have disabilities – have been helped through his heroic measures to embrace and protect the most vulnerable children in his community. It is a story of hope and a celebration of a simple reality: every human life is sacred and worthy of love.  (More info on the film here).

There will be a pizza lunch during the screening beginning at 12:15pm and a brief panel discussion following. If you come for lunch, please consider a $3 contribution to pay for the pizza. If you are able to RSVP  here  -  it will help us in ordering.

"The Drop Box is a profoundly moving documentary that sheds much-needed light on the inherent dignity and mission of each human person, especially those with a serious disability. In a world that often emphasizes the need to be perfect, this real-life story gets to the heart of love, life, and the unique giftedness of every human being." - Jeanne Monahan, President, March for Life

Australian Abortion Supporters Use Falsehoods to Deny Visa to Pro-Life Speaker Troy Newman

We need your help to persuade the Australian government to allow Troy Newman into the country

From Operation Rescue

Washington, DC - Yesterday, Operation Rescue President Troy Newman was detained while boarding a flight from Denver to Los Angeles by United Airline personnel and told that the Australian government was blocking him from boarding that flight. (Read background information here)

On the request of a Member of Parliament affiliated with the pro-abortion group Emily's List, the Ministry of Immigration has cancelled Newman's visa to travel on to Melbourne where he was scheduled to begin a pro-life speaking tour sponsored by Australia Right to Life.

In addition to heading up Operation Rescue, Newman also serves as a Board Member for the Center for Medical Progress, the organization responsible for releasing a series of videos that show Planned Parenthood officials haggling with supposed representatives from an organ procurement company for top dollar in exchange for aborted baby remains. The sale of fetal issue for profit is illegal in the United States.

Terri Butler, MP sent a letter  to Minister of Immigration Peter Dutton falsely accusing Newman of advocating the execution of abortion providers. She quoted from a book co-written by Newman called Their Blood Cries Out in a way that was completely out of context and twisted the meaning of a theological argument Newman was trying to explain.

Newman has never advocated violence against abortion providers or facilities and has instead aggressively encouraged pro-life activists to work through the legal, legislative, and justice systems to bring abortionists who are breaking the law and harming women to justice.

Margaret Tighe of Australia Right to Life responded in defense of Newman and encouraged Dutton not to cancel his visa.

"We need the public to put pressure on the Australian government right now and persuade them to restore Troy Newman's visa so he can go about his peaceful business speaking to the Australian people about the undercover videos that have rocked Planned Parenthood and shaken up American politics," said Cheryl Sullenger, Senior Policy Advisor for Operation Rescue. "Free speech is a precious right and we simply can't let a few pro-abortion bullies with false accusations to silence the truth."

Here's what is happening and what you can do to help:

1. Sign the petition to the Australian Minister of Immigration asking him to uphold free speech and restore Newman's visa. Click here to sign!

2. Call the Australian Embassy in Washington DC at (202) 797-3000and respectfully ask that they restore Newman's visa today before 5:00 pm Eastern time.

3. If you are in the Washington, DC area, please join Rev. Pat Mahoney of the Christian Defense Coalition and Mark Harrington from Created Equal at the Australian Embassy at 3:00 pm Eastern for a press conference and protest calling for Newman's visa to be restored. Read the press release for more information.

4. Take to your social networks and let the world know that abortion bullies in Australia have stooped to blatant lies to block a U.S. citizen from traveling even within his own country. Please post the video below everywhere! Use the hashtags #TroyNewman, #RescueTroyNewman and #FreeSpeech.
Operation Rescue will post updates as necessary to keep everyone informed.

Please forward and share this post everywhere!

Cecile Richards Must Answer for Gruesome Expertise

Today on Capitol Hill:

AUL’s Dr. Charmaine Yoest: “Cecile Richards Must Answer for her Gruesome Expertise in Monetizing the End of an Unborn Infant’s Life”

And

AULA says vote for Federal Women’s Health and Safety Act Frees Taxpayers from Funding a Scandal-Ridden Abortion Industry Profiting from “Death and Dismemberment”

“Cecile Richards must answer for her inhumane business model and detail what she is doing with millions in taxpayer dollars. Monetizing the end of an infant’s unborn life is her gruesome expertise,” said Dr. Yoest. “It’s time to defund an abortion industry that fights health and safety standards for women so that they can keep profits high and standards low.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. (09-29-15) — Americans United for Life President and CEO Dr. Charmaine Yoest said today that when Americans see Cecile Richards sitting before a Congressional Committee “it is the culmination of years of work and careful analysis of a horrific business model that ends the lives of 1 in 3 infants who die in abortion.” AUL called for hearings beginning in 2011, when introducing “The Case for Investigating Planned Parenthood,” which detailed numerous troubling issues with the mega abortion provider, including mishandling federal funds and failure to report sexual predators who use abortion to destroy the human evidence of their crimes. Those issues are magnified today in images from the Center for Medical Progress videos showing Planned Parenthood top officials discussing the profits they make from selling dismembered infant bodies and body parts for experimentation.

“It’s time to defund an abortion industry that fights health and safety standards for women so that they can keep profits high and standards low,” said Dr. Yoest. “Cecile Richards must answer for her inhumane business model and detail what she is doing with millions in taxpayer dollars. Monetizing the end of an infant’s unborn life is her gruesome expertise.”

Richards will take the stand before Congress about a week after Dr. Yoest testified before the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee that examined ending taxpayer funding for abortion providers who violate the law. In an exchange with Rep. Joe Kennedy (D-MA), Dr. Yoest challenged the panel to bring Cecile Richards before Congress to address the six troubling legal issues raised in the CMP videos.

“The burden of proof is on Planned Parenthood, to show that they are not violating the law while profiting from trafficking in infant body parts,” Dr. Yoest said.

Richards is scheduled to testify later today before the House Oversight Committee about taxpayer support going to Planned Parenthood, noted by the committee to be “approximately $1.3 billion in total revenue, of which $528.4 million (41 %) is attributed to ‘government health services grants and reimbursements.’”

ALSO ON CAPITOL HILL, A MOVE TO ADDRESS PLANNED PARENTHOOD’S USE OF MEDICAID DOLLARS: As a scandal-ridden Planned Parenthood uses political maneuvering to force taxpayers to hand over scarce Medicaid funding to the leading abortionist federation, Americans United for Life Action called on the U.S. House to support H.R. 3435, the Women’s Public Health and Safety Act, sponsored by Rep. Sean Duffy (R-WI). The bill would explicitly permit a state to exclude abortion providers and facilities where abortions are performed from its Medicaid program.

“It’s scandalous that a program set up to fund healthcare for the poor has been hijacked by a greedy abortion industry, working overtime to seize resources from real healthcare providers such as the now expanded Community Health Centers,” said AULA’s Dr. Yoest. “As we’ve seen with our own eyes in the Center for Medical Progress videos, Planned Parenthood profits from the death and dismemberment of unborn infants. It’s time to redirect those funds to life-saving care.”

In a letter to representatives, Dr. Yoest noted that the vote would be scored by the legal arm of the prolife movement and observed that this change in Medicaid funding is already under way. “At least two states, Indiana and Arizona, have enacted laws restricting abortion providers from participating in their Medicaid programs,” she wrote.

AULA also supports House efforts later this week to set up a select Committee on Planned Parenthood under the jurisdiction of the Energy and Commerce Committee, similar to the House Select Committee on Benghazi.

“It’s time to open the books of the abortion industry, to determine what they have been doing with more than one-million tax dollars every day, and whether the inhumanity of trafficking in human remains is illegally continuing,” said Dr. Yoest.

#ProtestBOA (Bank of America) expands to Austin. And beyond?

Campaign to encourage Bank of America to stop funding Planned Parenthood expands to Austin. Check out new Pro-Life Waco website page

From John Pisciotta, Director
Pro-Life Waco

Bank of America outreach escalates to the capital of Texas and under the banner of ‪#‎ProtestBOA.
Please use #ProtestBOA on Facebook, Twitter and whatever to post about pressuring Bank of America to stop funding Planned Parenthood. To avoid explaining so much here, I have created a new page on the Pro-Life Waco website which you can access using this link

The crucial Austin outreach of #ProtestBOA starts Tuesday, the 29th and through the end of October!

Thanks to Lynn Williams and Elizabeth Jimenez for leading this from down Austin way. This will be at the downtown BOA branch at 515 Congress Avenue from 11 to 1 p.m. on Tuesday the 29th. Huge pedestrian and auto traffic by BOA’s 20 story building. We (desperately) need 10-15 foot soldiers. Please do not leave this to the "other guy or lady." Do you live within an hour of Austin? Can you be there for at least part of the timenext Tuesday? I believe we have a good shot at compelling a policy change from BOA to stop making donations to PP. Child-friendly signs provided. The legality of our presence on the sidewalk was affirmed last Wednesday. We are not only putting the pressure on Bank of America, we are educating folks in the capitol of Texas on ‪#‎PPSellsBabyParts‬.

This is a very gratifying outreach. Much positive response—and some negative. You can look back one day soon and recall that you and your family stepped out with #ProtestBOA to proclaim to BOA and the Austin community that #PPSellsBabyParts. We will have one-page flyers to pass out to pedestrians. #ProtestBOA continues in Waco also on Tuesday the 29th from 11 to 1 pm. at 1100 Valley Mills Drive.

We live in uncharted times requiring dyanamic, outside the box, discipleship. #ProtestBOA continues through October. Are in coalition of the willing? I end with some photos of #ProtestPP. Remember to check out the web page.

Note: This is something we can all do no matter where we live as Bank of America is located throughout the USA.   Use this link  to find the phone number and more information.

Courageous Clerics: Day 2 of the 40 Days for Life Campaign

Shawn Carney, Campaign Director
40 Days for Life

Like many people, I was first inspired to get involved in the pro-life movement because of courageous leadership from the clergy.

Countless pastors from many churches have helped spread 40 Days for Life … and they all need our prayers as they proclaim the Word of God in a hostile world.

Prominent Evangelical, Catholic and Protestant leaders have endorsed 40 Days for Life and encouraged the faithful to defend God's most vulnerable among us. You can see these leaders – and their words of endorsement using this link.

One of those leaders is dominating the media this week, and he will be visiting three major cities where 40 Days for Life vigils are taking place – Pope Francis!

Pope Francis has supported 40 Days for Life around the globe and was able to meet our international outreach director, Robert Colquhoun, in Rome.

As Pope Francis visits the United States, local 40 Days for Life leaders are reaching out to those traveling to Washington, New York and Philadelphia. One leader said, “If people are coming to town to see the pope, they’re also invited to come pray at our vigil!”

No matter where you live, you can find your closest campaign location here.

Today’s update starts with a report from Robert, who’s visiting team leaders and volunteers in Slovenia … and ends with prayer for all of our shepherds.

Ljubljana, Slovenia

Slovenia is hosting its second 40 Days for Life campaign. Matjaz Venta, the local leader, has a very deep faith and is passionate about prayer and the pro-life cause.

Abortion was legalised during the communist era. Although communism came to an end 25 years ago, it still pervades the country’s mentality. There are 4,000 abortions a year among the two million population.

Their prayer vigil is outside the local hospital, where abortions are performed in three different locations inside. Nada, one of the volunteers, tells me they received spiteful responses from some members of the public following their first campaign, although there were positive comments too.

Around the corner, we prayed in a church which was confiscated by the communists and turned into a film studio. Also during that era, abortions were performed in the Jesuit house. The abortion room is now a chapel. It is a telling story of the spiritual journey of the country.

I look forward to what God has in store for Slovenia!

Thanks to Robert Colquhoun for this update from Ljubljana.

White Plains, New York

This 40 Days for Life campaign kicked off with a rally in front of Planned Parenthood – a building featuring a big pink banner with the words, “health care happens here.” Gerald Yeung, the local leader, told the group that God is always doing something good – and it often involves 40 Days for Life.

Fr. Thomas Kallumady, pastor of St. John the Evangelist / Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, thanked the attendees for witnessing to their faith and their “love for the unborn and the living.” Maria Teresa Rueda prayed in Spanish for God's protection over the unborn and their parents.

Sister Shirley Ann of the Sisters of Life prayed that God's mercy, grace and strength would “overtake every woman that comes to this Planned Parenthood.”

Today’s devotional is from Rev. Clenard Childress of Life Education and Resources Network.

Day 2 intention

Let us pray that pastors may not be distracted from the priority of caring for human lives.

Scripture

In those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, there arose a complaint against the Hebrews by the Hellenists, because their widows were neglected in the daily distribution.  — Acts 6:1

Reflection by Rev. Clenard Childress

More folks learning left some yearning.

It is the dawning of a new day. There is much excitement in Jerusalem. Many who dedicated themselves to the faith became disciples (the word disciple means learner).

The unprecedented church growth was miraculous and undoubtedly brought much satisfaction to the new leadership. The apostles, however, were about to experience growing pains in their master plan of evangelism.

Projects that engage the community, especially those that are evangelistic in nature, are high on the list of priorities for every duty-bound pastor.

Church attendance is a constant concern for every pastor and often his or her worth is measured by it. Unfortunately, just as the original twelve pastors in Acts, they can be so focused on getting people in that they inadvertently end up pushing some people out.

Murmuring is a deplorable deterrent to a harmonious fellowship, yet God used it to get the disciples attention. Those that needed daily attention due to their age and social status were being neglected.

This neglect of the Hellenist widows during the daily distribution of food was causing undue grief and needed to be corrected by the leadership. By God’s grace the problem was dealt with, but the lesson remains.

And during these 40 days, let us pray that today's church not make the same mistake of forgetting the contributions of our seniors, or the needs of the weakest among us, the unborn.

Prayer

Father, in the Church’s desire to engage our communities with the Gospel let her not disengage from those who need their care and company the most.

Let us gain wisdom from those who have gone before us and cherish their experiences and perspectives. Help us to appreciate every soul in the body of Christ and minister properly to everybody. Amen.

How to Talk about Physician-Assisted Suicide

SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT ON “COMPASSION”

By: John Stonestreet
BreakPoint

Are you ready to defend life to your friends and neighbors? Not just the unborn, but the targets of physician-assisted suicide?

Yesterday, Eric Metaxas told you about the recent approval of physician-assisted suicide by the California legislature. Citing the work of Rosaria Butterfield, he gave us an historical perspective on how we as a culture have arrived at this troubling moment.

Now today, I’d like to talk with you about what we can do, what we must do, to defend life to our friends and neighbors.

To start, we have to understand this: While Christians believe (or at least should believe) that all human life is sacred from conception to natural death, many of our neighbors don’t share that conviction.

But that doesn’t mean we are at an impasse. In fact, there are many reasons to oppose physician-assisted suicide even for those that don’t share our belief in the sanctity of human life. And these are the kinds of arguments we need to be ready to make, as Chuck Colson would put it, over the backyard fence with our neighbors.

Viewpoint: I'm Glad my Mother Chose Life

By Nika Anschuetz
USA Today

Most people’s stories begin in a hospital, but mine begins at a Chinese train station.

My mother was faced with a choice: carry me to term or abort me. She chose life and I became one of the millions of Chinese babies born in 1994.

In the wake of the controversy surrounding Planned Parenthood, it’s easy to talk about fetuses or babies – whichever term you prefer to use – when they are arbitrary numbers.

It can also be easy to focus on the woman — rather than the baby she might choose to abort. Our hearts sympathize for the woman because we see her in the flesh. We can see her pain, anguish and anxiety.

But we don’t want to picture the baby. We see cells or undeveloped tissue. We see numbers, facts and figures.

Not me. I see myself in these numbers.

When I read about the 327,653 abortion services that Planned Parenthood conducted in the last year, I think about my birth mother who carried me to term.

When I read about the 1,800 adoption referrals, I think about the person who found me at a railroad station and placed me into foster care.

Numbers matter, but so do people.

Want THIS to Happen Where You Live?

SHAWN CARNEY, Campaign Director
40 Days for Life

The photos below show the former Planned Parenthood abortion center in Bryan/College Station, Texas — the site of the first-ever 40 Days for Life campaign back in 2004 ...

Three pictures of one building tell the story.

1. BEFORE 40 Days for Life

2. AFTER 40 Days for Life

3. TODAY

… and now, that building will include:
  • The new headquarters of the worldwide 40 Days for Life movement
  • A lab and clinic for a local pregnancy center and
  • Medical services provided by two former abortionists who had conversions and have become outspoken pro-life advocates
This is the kind of story only God can write ... and yet it's not an isolated occurrence.

This is one of 60 abortion centers that have CLOSED when 40 Days for Life prayer vigils have been held outside their doors.

Could your city be next?

You can help make that happen by joining the 40 Days for Life Campaign that begins tomorrow, September 23, in 307 locations.

We just held the dedication ceremony at the new 40 Days for Life headquarters, and I spoke about the impact that local prayers and efforts can have on saving lives and ending abortion in any community.

Here's the 6-minute video of my comments. Click the image below to watch ...

40 Days for Life HQ opens in former abortion center from 40 Days for Life on Vimeo.

As I share in that video, the solution to the global abortion crisis is LOCAL. That's why 40 Days for Life has seen these results:
  • 650,000 volunteer participants in 579 cities across 30 nations
  • 10,331 lives saved from abortion
  • 118 workers who have had conversions and quit the abortion industry
  • 60 closed abortion centers, including the one pictured above
And, starting tomorrow, YOU can help expand these victories by joining the next 40 Days for Life Campaign.

Here’s the Face of the 20-Week Abortion Ban Debate

Kelsey Harkness
The Daily Signal

At 29 years old, Danielle Pickering was faced with an impossible decision: Save her own life, or that of her unborn son.

“We chose not to let them induce me to save his life, at the risk of my life,” Danielle told The Daily Signal, referencing her experience with a life-threatening condition that threatened her own life, and that of her unborn child.

Today, Micah is three years old with big brown eyes and perfectly shaped curls.

He faces minor chronic lung disease, asthma, and has a slight speech delay. Other than that, his parents call him “absolutely normal”—with one exception.

“He loves to vacuum, help me clean, [and] he loves to help me take the clothes out of the dryer,” laughed Danielle.
