A Response to Michelle Wolf: There Is Nothing Funny About Abortion

From the left to the right, we would say, 

"Off limits! There's nothing to laugh about here."

There is nothing in the least bit funny about abortion. Not for the baby's mother. Not for the baby's father. Not for the abortion workers. And, above all, not for the baby, who is brutally terminated in the womb.

There is nothing funny about the remains of abortion (clinically called the "products of conception"). Nothing funny about the severed parts of tiny humans – little hands and little legs and little eyes. Nothing funny about Planned Parenthood making money off these dismembered babies.

There is nothing funny about the after-effects of abortion. Nothing funny about the grief and guilt experienced by many a mother (and father). Nothing funny about the women who are unable to conceive after an abortion. Nothing to laugh at all.

Yet in the midst of a vulgar, over the top "comedy" routine at the annual White House correspondents' dinner, Michelle Wolf decided to joke about abortion.

This was beyond tasteless. Beyond crass. Almost beyond belief.

Speaking of Vice President Pence, she said that he is "very anti-choice. He thinks abortion is murder, which, first of all, don't knock it 'til you try it — and when you do try it, really knock it. You know, you've got to get that baby out of there. And yeah, sure, you can groan all you want. I know a lot of you are very anti-abortion. You know, unless it's the one you got for your secret mistress."

Perhaps Wolf was right to raise the issue of hypocrisy. There have been conservative politicians who allegedly urged their mistress to have an abortion. Perhaps some corrupt preachers have done the same.

But to joke about abortion itself. To joke about using violent means to dislodge a little baby from its mother's womb – how does one respond to this? To repeat her words: "when you do try it, really knock it. You know, you've got to get that baby out of there."

How would we respond if she decided to joke about the Holocaust? "You better get those ovens super hot! There are a whole lot of Jewish bodies to burn!"

How would we respond if she decided to joke about slavery? "How many Africans can you cram into the belly of a ship? Don't worry about overcrowding. You can toss the extras overboard!"

How would we respond if she decided to joke about human trafficking? "You know why selling people is so much better than selling drugs? You can only sell drugs once."

We would be horrified with such "jokes." From the left to the right, we would say, "Off limits! There's nothing to laugh about here."

A Most Powerful Tool for Humanizing the Unborn

Ultrasounds have long been a powerful tool for showcasing the humanity of the unborn, highlighting their little hands, tiny feet, and beating hearts.

And sometimes, mothers can even catch a glimpse of their unborn child’s personality.

One mother recently got a video ultrasound, and to her delight, her unborn baby boy turned towards her and started waving at her on the ultrasound screen!

“It was really lovely to see. . . I think we’re definitely going to have a little showman on our hands,” said the overjoyed mother.

Stories like this truly are heartwarming.

They also demonstrate that ultrasounds really do have the power to humanize the unborn -- so much so that even calloused abortion industry workers have often become pro-life after viewing an ultrasound.

For example, Dr. Bernard Nathanson, founder of the so-called “National Abortion Rights Action League” (NARAL), attributed his conversion to the power of ultrasounds, stating, “I ran the largest abortion clinic in the world for two years. . .”

“I changed my mind because the new scientific data which we were getting from advanced technology persuaded me that we could not indiscriminately continue to slaughter what was demonstrably a human being.”

And ultrasounds continue to change the hearts and minds of mothers and abortion workers alike to this day.

In fact, studies indicate that up to 78% of abortion-minded women choose life after viewing an ultrasound of their unborn child.

But in the end, these ultrasounds are just affirming what you and I have long known -- that unborn children really are living human beings.

Dems Push USAID Administrator to Recoup Funds for International Abortion Groups

WASHINGTON DC, May 4 (C-Fam) Abortion proponents in the U.S. Congress, who were rattled by the Trump administration’s pro-life stand at recent UN negotiations, grilled the top U.S. aid administrator last week and attempted to obstruct the policy using procedural rules.

Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, and Congresswomen Nita Lowey and Barbara Lee tried to challenge the implementation of Protecting Life in Global Health Assistance (PLGHA) policy by making procedural claims that PLGHA is a “rule” and as such is subject to the Congressional Review Act. The Government Accounting Office rejected the claim this week, stipulating that President Trump’s reinstatement of the Mexico City Policy was an executive action by previous presidents and “Federal courts have held that agencies’ implementation of presidential policy-making does not constitute a rule.”

Last week, the same Members of Congress took USAID administrator Mark Green to task when he appeared before Senate and House committees explaining the processes for a leaner budget for development and diplomacy and defending President Trump’s overseas pro-life policies.

Asked Which Historical Figure She Identifies With the Most, Cecile Richards Says: “The Witches of Salem”

There’s a swagger in Cecile Richards’ step as she conducts a book tour around the media surrounding her departure from the summit of Planned Parenthood after 12 years. Call it a victory lap. Everywhere she goes, adoring liberal interviewers ask her if she’ll run for office next. After all, it’s not like she has millions of little skeletons in her closet.

Vanity Fair oozed over Richards and the abortion conglomerate’s Spring Into Action gala in New York City. The headline reads, “Planned Parenthood’s Future Is So Bright, They’ve Gotta Wear Pink.” The magazine eagerly recounted event details like the “Smash the Patriarchy” cocktails and buttons with the vulgar Planned Parenthood motto: “Don’t F—k With Us, Don’t F—k Without Us.”

In our secularized culture of death, Richards is projected as a civil rights icon — the white female version of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. No one found any irony whatsoever when she was honored with other “social justice warriors” on the stage of the Oscars … in the same category as a co-founder of Black Lives Matter. 

Black lives mattered to Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger, a racist who wanted her organization to curtail the reproduction of races that “still breed carelessly and disastrously,” as W.E.B. DuBois wrote for Sanger’s Birth Control Review.

Similarly, no one in the liberal media did a double take when in an interview with Vanity Fair, Richards was asked to name her most treasured possession and said: “My blue Shirley Temple cup. The Reverend Billy Graham baptized my mom with it when she was a girl.” Try to pair that with this next question and answer: Vanity Fair asked which historical figure she most identifies with, and she replied, “The witches of Salem.”

In her new book, Make Trouble, Richards recalls how she first made trouble almost 50 years ago at the age of 11, refusing to recite the Lord’s Prayer along with her class at University Park Elementary School in Dallas.

It’s easier to play God with the lives of the unborn when you don’t follow God’s inconvenient commandments.

No broadcaster has ruined the Planned Parenthood boss’s book tour by asking about the sale of the body parts of aborted babies. They’ve barely even mentioned abortion. Time magazine’s Belinda Luscombe ably demonstrated how the liberal media negotiate around the hard facts of what was unforgettably proved by the hidden cameras of The Center for Medical Progress.

“In 2015, Richards faced five hours of mostly hostile grilling by Congress after some activists released video purporting to show that the organization illegally sold fetal tissue,” Luscombe wrote. Ten hours of damning and skin-crawling video is dismissed as “purported.” Try to imagine Time writing about the “purported” images of prisoner abuse at Abu Ghraib.

Abortionist Headed to Prison After Killing Woman in Botched 26-Week Abortion

In a move that shocked the court, Robert Rho accepted a previously offered plea bargain and admitted his guilt to Felony Negligent Homicide immediately after the judge announced that the jury had reached a verdict in this three-week trial.

Rho will be sentenced and will surrender into custody on July 26, 2018, after which he will serve between 16 months and four years in prison for killing Jaime Lee Morales during a horrifically botched second trimester abortion.

“Robert Rho killed Jaime Morales and has now grudgingly admitted his crime. He will pay for that crime in prison, so we are satisfied with the outcome even though we had hoped for a conviction on the more serious charge,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue.

Rho was on trial for Second Degree Manslaughter, a Class C Felony that carried a penalty of up to 15 years in prison.

“I suspect Rho took the plea deal once he realized the jury was about to convict him,” said Newman.

The plea agreement required Rho to admit his crime in court, which he was reticent to do. At first, he simply stated that he had lacerated the victim’s cervix, repaired in twice, then sent her home where she died unexpectedly.

That statement was insufficient to meet the terms of a confession.

Finally, under questioning from his defense attorney Jeff Lichtman, Rho admitted through clenched teeth that he killed Morales.

Earlier, on this third day of jury deliberations, the jury had told Judge Gregory Lasak that they could not reach an agreement on a verdict. Judge Lasak instructed them to go back and continue deliberations to see if they could finally come to an agreement.

Hours later, a verdict was indeed reached, but Rho’s acceptance of the plea bargain agreement meant that the verdict would never be known.

The Morales family was upset that they had endured a full three weeks of trial where the reputation of their daughter was attacked, only to be denied a jury verdict.

“We have great sympathy for the Morales family for the loss they have suffered. Their grief was only compounded by Rho’s selfish and erratic behavior that first denied them the life of their loved one, then denied them the closure a verdict would have brought,” said Newman. “I pray that during his incarceration he might reflect on the harm he has caused and come to repentance through Jesus Christ.”

The S.C. Senate voted Wednesday night to outlaw virtually all abortions in South Carolina.

The Legislature’s upper chamber voted 28-10 to allow exceptions only in cases of rape, incest or medical emergencies that could seriously harm the pregnant woman or threaten her life. The bill still faces long odds to passage, up against a Democratic filibuster that could put off a final Senate vote until after lawmakers adjourn for the year.

If passed, the new law almost certainly would spark a court challenge. But that is the goal, according to Senate Republicans who want to overturn the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decision affirming abortion rights.

"It's designed to give the court an opportunity to revisit Roe v. Wade," said Senate Majority Leader Shane Massey, R-Edgefield.

The proposal likely would ban some 97 percent of the roughly 5,700 abortions performed in South Carolina each year, according to the Democrat who suggested Republicans adopt it.

Ministry Outreach Agenda: New Billboards (ABORTION HURTS) and More

1. This is abortion week in Waco.

This is one of those difficult and devastating weeks. I don’t know what adjectives to use. Babies in the womb are being killed as I type. For today andFriday, I encourage you to go out to Planned Parenthood at 700 W Hwy. 6 to offer your public witness and your prayers for the lives of the babies, for moms to embrace continued love for their babies, and for conversion of those who work in and support the abortion industry.

2. Second Sunday Luncheon Meeting: No, for May. Yes, for June.

May 13, the second Sunday of May, is Mother’s Day. For that reason, there will be no second Sunday Ecumenical Pro-Life Gathering in May. However, we will be back on June 10th with an outstanding meeting, a delicious meal, and a speaker you will never forget. More later. Happy Mother’s Day to all our wonderful moms.

3. Life Chain this Sunday May 6. 

We hold G-rated signs at the intersection of Valley Mills Drive and Waco Drive. Life Chain Sunday from 2-3 PM is such an enjoyable gathering. The weather should be nice. I'm hoping that we will have at least 20 pro-life foot-soldiers on site. Just come out and look for "Carolyn” the billboard truck parked near Pei Wei restaurant.

6. Reports on dynamic events of the last week of April.

For the last week of April, we ended with upbeat outreach at Planned Parenthood. On April 26, 70-80 life-defenders from around Central Texas came together for a protest of an Open House event for their rather new abortion center. This was a secret event, but we found out from a tip four days in advance. Wow! You showed up in a very powerful way. Then on April 26, we delivered the long-awaited Jericho March. A throng of over 70 marched around Planned Parenthood seven times with father Robert Verrill leading and blowing the Shofar horn. With a strong sense of comradery, bother events were very enjoyable I hope you attended at least one.

In the next update, I will include photos of the April 28 Jericho March. Let us remain strong, cohesive, and prayerful in our defense of the little ones Jesus love so dearly.

The Push to Starve Dementia Patients Appears in the New York Times

First, bioethicists said people should be able to refuse being “hooked up to machines” even if that meant almost certain death.

Then, they pushed that meme farther, arguing that the right of refusal (including by surrogates) should also include nourishment by tube so the patient dehydrates to death. Give them an inch . . .

After that, they said patients who are terminally ill (for now) should have access to prescribed poison to make themselves dead. Not good.

Now, they want to force caregivers to starve patients with dementia who eat and drink by mouth if so instructed in an advance directive.

This abusive proposal, which is being pushed aggressively in the professional literature, has now reached the august pages of the New York Times in a column by Jane Brody, the Gray Lady’s health columnist. From, “An Advance Directive for Patients with Dementia”:

Missing in standard documents [advance directives] are specific instructions about providing food and drink by hand as opposed to through a tube.

There is a logical reason for that. Advance directives cover medical treatments. But eating and drinking by mouth is not a medical treatment. It is humane care — like keeping clean, warm, turning to prevent sores, etc. — which are not part of advance directives.

Brody throws up some smoke, stating that the starve-me instructions would apply at the very end of life.

While trying to provide nourishment for a terminally ill person nearing death is commonly done in the name of comfort and caring, if that person cannot benefit from food or drink, it can become quite the opposite. When patients can no longer swallow what they are fed, they may choke and aspirate food or drink into the lungs, resulting in pneumonia that adds to their misery and hastens their death.

That can be true, and at such times, great care must be shown.

But the document Brody supports, written by an assisted-suicide advocacy group, does not require forced starvation to be limited to such times (my emphasis):

In the final, ‘terminal’ stage of all dementias, a person may become unable to swallow what is placed in his or her mouth, and lose the ability to ambulate, speak, recognize loved ones, and control bowel or bladder functioning.

Individuals with Alzheimer’s disease who contact End of Life Choices New York want to know how they can avoid the final stages of this disease. It is for those individuals, and others who fear being diagnosed with dementia in the future, that the Directive about assisted oral feeding has been created.
