Abortionist Sentenced in Death of Woman He Aborted at 25 Weeks

By Dave Andrusko
National Right to Life

In May when last we reported on abortionist Robert Rho, he had just struck a deal to plead guilty to criminally negligent homicide in the 2016 death of Jamie Lee Morales. Rho, who said he had performed 40,000 abortions over his career, aborted her at 25 weeks for which he had charged her $6,000.

Rho’s lawyer, Jeffrey Lichtman, Rho’s attorney, called the agreement a “monumental victory” and said he expected a sentence of less than a year.

Lichtman was wrong. On June 26 Justice Gregory Lasak sentenced the 55-year-old Rho to serve fifteen months to four years in state prison.

In closing arguments, Assistant District Attorney Brad Leventhal told the jury “It’s about greed and arrogance,” adding, “Jaime Morales bled to death because this defendant did nothing.”

Rho had faced a possible charge of second-degree manslaughter, punishable by 5 years and 15 years in prison before a last minute plea bargain with Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown

At the time, Brown said, “Sadly, a 30-year-old woman lost her life as a result of the surgery.” He went on to say, “The doctor has now accepted responsibility and admitted he failed to realize the damage he’d done and did not provide appropriate and timely medical care following the surgery.”

Morales went to Rho’s Liberty Women’s Health of Queens with her sister on July 9, 2016. “During the surgery, Rho caused a laceration in her cervix, a perforation of the uterine wall and a disruption and transection of the uterine artery, officials said.”

Rho then “failed to provide the woman with appropriate and timely medical attention” when she bled profusely, Newsday reported. “Rho performed a second surgery to stop the bleeding, prosecutors said, but didn’t realize Morales needed emergency medical care.”

After collapsing in a vehicle during the drive to her sister’s home, Morales was transported to a hospital where she was treated for vaginal bleeding, Zachary R. Dowdy reported. “She was pronounced dead the same night, officials said.”

After Ms. Morales’s death, Rho closed his abortion clinic and surrendered his medical license.

Buried near the end of the Associated Press story is this insight into Rho’s history.

British Court Upholds City Law That Bans Pro-Life People From Praying Outside Abortion Clinics

By Society for the Protection of Unborn Children
Life News

The High Court has today upheld the Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) imposed by Ealing Council this April that banned pro-life witnesses outside the Marie Stopes abortion centre.

A challenge to the buffer zone had been brought by Alina Dulgheriu, a mother who was helped by pro-life vigils. Lawyers acting on her behalf said that the Council’s decision to ban pro-life vigils around the clinic was “unlawful, invalid and unjustified.”

A Democratic Necessity?

Handing down the verdict today, Mr Justice Turner found that the ban does interfere with the human rights of those who participate in the vigils, but said the council was “entitled” to conclude it was a “necessary step in a democratic society”.

Ms Dulgheriu said that she was “saddened and shocked that the Court has upheld a PSPO that prevents good people giving help to mothers who desperately want it…I am devastated for those women that since the introduction of the Ealing PSPO, have not been able to access the loving help that I did.”

She said that she is discussing the options available to her to challenge the decision.

Banning Charitable Help

SPUC’s Antonia Tully said it is shocking “that the High Court is allowing a council to ban peaceful public acts of witness and freedom of expression and stop members of the public offering charitable help to pregnant women. A mother who was herself given this help and has a beautiful six-year-old daughter as a result brought this challenge, and a judge has decided that no other mothers may be helped this way, and no-one else’s sons or daughters may be saved.”
Shutting down the pro-life movement

She said that the decision has grave implications for pro-life activity in the UK.
“The Ealing verdict heralds the next phase to shut down the pro-life movement in this country. SPUC, Britain’s leading pro-life organisation, exists to speak out for the thousands of voiceless human beings who are killed by abortion each year.
“SPUC is a grassroots organisation whose members are active in towns and cities throughout the land – spreading the message that abortion kills babies and wounds mothers,”
Mrs Tully went on. “SPUC supporters are out delivering leaflets door to door, taking part in acts of witness in public places and holding public meetings. The Ealing verdict may be affecting only one small part of the country today. Tomorrow we could see this insidious opposition to the pro-life movement spreading throughout the land.”

Preborn Babies ‘Sing’ to Mozart, Christmas Carols, and Mickey Mouse

Once again, science continues to demonstrate the humanity of children in the womb, far before birth.

By Kristi Burton Brown
Live Action News

After playing a wide variety of music for 300 preborn babies, researchers from Spain released the results of their intriguing study in June. These babies were 18 to 38 weeks old, and their love for classical and traditional music was easy to observe. The tiny children were treated to an eclectic concert of Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, Christmas carols, Adele, Queen, and more.

The study was conducted by the Institut Marquès, in Barcelona, Spain. The Institut published an earlier study in 2015, concluding that “preborn babies can hear and respond to music much sooner than previously believed. ‘For the first time ever,’ it can be scientifically proven that a preborn baby detects and responds to sound at 16 weeks gestation” or when the baby is only 4.3 inches long. Naturally, the Institut Marquès now wanted to know which kind of musical sounds these children preferred.

In its 2015 study, the Institute captured preborn babies appearing to sing along to music when they heard it. This trend continued in the most recent study:

As the researchers observed the babies’ facial expressions and the movement of their tongues, the children’s musical preferences were quite stark. The study results state that babies were stimulated by “neither pop nor rock” and that “the same as newborn babies, [these children] prefer classic music to traditional music.” Mozart’s “A Little Night Music” and a Spanish Christmas carol ranked at the top of their categories. Queens’ “Bohemian Rhapsody” and the popular “Y.M.C.A.” were two exceptions to the general preference against pop and rock. Adele, while very popular with parents, was not so popular among their tiny offspring.

In addition to testing the babies’ musical preferences, the researchers threw in one twist: would the children prefer the high-pitched voice of Mickey Mouse or the voice of a human they were not related to? Mickey Mouse came out ahead by a significant percentage, showing, perhaps, that even the tiniest children know Mickey Mouse is safe, even if strangers are not.

The researchers concluded:

It is very unusual that those movements are spontaneously produced during the second and third trimester of the pregnancy (only 3 to 5% do it without a specific stimulus). Therefore, the study lead [sic] by Institut Marquès demonstrates the importance of the early neurological stimulation, which can activate brain areas related to language and communication.

Once again, science continues to demonstrate the humanity of children in the womb, far before birth. Each child is unique, able to experience joy, able to appreciate music, and prone to a love for Mickey Mouse — just like any other human being.

Waste Hauler, Greenville Abortion Clinic Violated South Carolina Law, Both Fined

Mark Harrington, President
Created Equal

An administrative order was issued by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) against Greenville Women's Center (GWC) to resolve the violation of a south Carolina infectious waste law. Additionally, the SCDHEC issued a consent order against waste hauler, Stericycle. The abortion company was fined $19,000 and Stericycle was fined $9,500.

Recently, informants uncovered ongoing illegal transactions of dead baby body parts between a Greenville, SC abortion clinic and Stericycle, America’s largest biological waste hauler. On three separate occasions, video was captured showing a representative of GWC illegally transporting dead babies in a passenger car and transferring the aborted baby body parts to a Stericycle waste truck at a local gas station.

Five different transaction are referenced in a March 6, 2018 Notice of Alleged Violations from the SCDHEC to Greenville Women's Center and Stericycle.

According to the letters from the SCDHEC's Bureau of Land and Waste Management Division of Compliance and Enforcement, these illegal actions violate South Carolina's Infectious Waste Management Regulation 61-105.

The SCDHEC concluded that Greenville Women’s Center (GWC) violated nine regulations. They include:

  • GWC was not a registered infectious wastetransporter.
  • GWC failed to comply with infectious waste transporter requirements.
  • GWC transferred waste at a non-designated transfer facility (QT gas station).
  • GWC has no infectious waste management plan.
  • GWC failed to register and waste transporter.

SCDHEC ORDERED that GWC must comply with the South Carolina Infectious Waste Management Act and pay a civil penalty of $19,000 within 30 days to the SCDHEC.

The SCDHEC also concluded that Stericycle violated five regulations. They include:

  • Illegally transferred and stored infectious waste (aborted babies).
  • Illegally transferred infectious waste from one vehicle to another at a non-designated transfer facility.
  • Illegally accepted infectious waste without a proper manifest.

SCDHEC ORDERED that Stericycle must pay a civil penalty of $9500 within 30 days to the SDHEC.

"Abortionists and their medical waste enablers are the dregs of society and medicine and therefore are forced to conduct their nefarious activities in secret. Because abortionists kill babies, they also break other laws. We thank the SCDHEC for bringing a measure of justice to Greenville Women’s Clinic and Stericycle." – Mark Harrington, President, Created Equal

Political Efforts of Texas “Medical” Lobby Protects Profits Over Patients

This unethical position not only violates the patient’s Right to Life, but ignores common sense solutions...allowing patients to access desired life-sustaining treatment and procedures.

By Texas Right to Life
National Right to Life

The Texas Medical Association (TMA) PAC and the Texas Hospital Association (THA) PAC are political arms of the leaders of the Texas medical lobby, who are marred by prioritizing policies that protect profits rather than patients. TMA and THA routinely oppose any legislation that increases protections for the rights of patients in their care, such as Senate Bill 11 passed during the First Called Special Session of the 85th Legislature.

SB11 reformed the process by which Do-Not-Resuscitate Orders (DNRs) are issued for hospitalized patients, protecting them from unauthorized DNRs written by physicians or providers without the patient’s knowledge or permission.

TMA’s Robert Fine and THA’s Missy Atwood both testified publicly against SB 11. Atwood’s testimony clearly demonstrates her belief that when a patient’s own expressed wishes about a life-or-death situation conflict with the doctors own personal beliefs, the physician should have unilateral authority to make that decision for the patient.

This unethical position not only violates the patient’s Right to Life, but ignores common sense solutions to accommodate conscientious objections while allowing patients to access desired life-sustaining treatment and procedures.
Dr. Arlo Weltge, speaking for TMA, took a neutral position on the bill. However, his tone echoed the tone of the THA lobbyists, and after the hearing, the TMA worked against the bill and the governor’s agenda.

TMA and THA’s PACs also have amassed an incriminating record of supporting anti-Life candidates. Cindy Burkett (R-Sunnyvale), an outgoing state representative, whose record on Life was mixed, at best, waged a 2018 Primary Election challenge to Pro-Life champion Senator Bob Hall for Senate District 2 and received $41,000 from the TMA’s PAC and $8,000 from HOSPAC, run by THA, during her failed bid.

Anti-Life J. D. Sheffield (R-Gatesville) similarly benefited from the medical lobby’s support, receiving $62,000 from TMA, more than any other candidate or incumbent, and $4,000 from HOSPAC.

The list of anti-Life legislators supported by these groups is lengthy, but the most reprehensible is their support of pro-abortion “Republican” Sarah Davis (R-West University Place), who has received the endorsement and almost $20,000 from Planned Parenthood since 2014.

Baby Pics ‘Too Strong for Facebook’: Social Media Giant Targets Pro-Lifers in New Ad Rules

By Calvin Freiburger
Life Site News

Facebook says its latest rules for advertising what it calls “political” content will promote transparency, but after a month of operation they are effectively handicapping many publishers, including LifeSiteNews.

Last month, the social media giant began requiring publishers to submit identification and mailing addresses in order to run advertisements (promotions to lists) of a “political” nature in the United States. Among the initial list of subjects deemed by Facebook to be “political” and, which will expand over time, are “abortion,” “civil rights,” “health,” and “values.” Facebook says the change is meant to prevent foreign actors from interfering in American elections.

ImageHere are examples of ads now labelled by Facebook to be "political" and required to be displayed in this special format.
These verification requirements are however causing very lengthy delays for ad approvals and are far more extensive than what is summarized in the announcements. They have also caused many to complain about Facebook's labelling of reporting on non-political issues as "political" and therefore subject to Facebook's onerous new procedures and restrictions.

Rather than simply verifying a representative’s identity and a US-based headquarters or office, Facebook has requested a government-issued identification, personal address, and the last four Social Security Number digits for every member of an ad management team.

The company claims that all of this information is being handled by a third party and will be deleted after six weeks, though it has not provided LifeSiteNews with a means of verifying these assurances.

The new rules also place a special new “paid for” label at the top of "political" promotions, through which users can identify who is responsible for the ad, as well as the campaign budget behind it, the number of people who viewed it, and the age, location, and gender of its audience. Additionally, users will be able to report unlabeled ads they believe should be marked, after which the publisher (pending Facebook’s review of the complaint) will be banned from posting ads until it completes the verification process.

Most ads will be flagged through a combination of employee review and artificial intelligence. All “political” ads on Facebook or Instagram dated May 7, 2018 or later will be stored in a searchable archive for up to seven years.

Facebook product management director Rob Leathern claimed that the company “recognize[s] that news coverage of elections and important issues is distinct from advocacy or electoral ads, even if those news stories receive paid distribution on Facebook.” Despite such reassurances, however, the new system is already having consequences beyond its stated targets.

Facebook has already come under fire for blocking ads by LifeSiteNewsand other pro-lifers, as well as other forms of discrimination against pro-life, Christian, and conservative voices. In recent months Facebook has delayed the average wait time to approve LifeSiteNews ads from 12 hours to 72, and doubled the cost per donation received from ads deemed “political” from an average of $5.95 to $12 per donation click.

Even as little as a year ago, approval for ads (promotions of particular articles) usually took minutes to an hour or two. “Now,” says LifeSite President Steve Jalsevac, “Facebook has made everything ‘political’ whereas we are an entirely issues-focused news service rather than a political one.”

More significantly, starting the week of Ireland’s May 25 abortion referendum, Facebook has rejected most of LifeSiteNews’ ads entirely.

3 Reproductive-Health Issues NaProTechnology Solves Better Than the Alternatives

Natural Womanhood

Got endometriosis? There’s a pill for that! Got PCOS? There’s a pill for that! Painful periods and bad acne? Why—you guessed it—there’s a pill for that, too!

It seems like the solution to a lot of issues in women’s health boils down to the Pill. But the dirty little secret about the Pill, and the IUD, and other forms of hormonal contraception, is that they don’t actually address the root causes of any of these common issues in women’s reproductive health. They also come with a host of health risks and side-effects.

For too long, women who would never think of trying on a pair of one-size-fits-all jeans have been accepting this one-size-fits-all drug, because often, that’s all that’s been offered to them for very serious (and oftentimes very painful) conditions like endometriosis and PCOS.

Natural Womanhood is the most far-reaching women’s health literacy program since the Pill. We exist because many women are harmed by or at risk from the use of contraceptives, and most don’t know they have a viable alternative.

Natural Womanhood is a non-profit corporation dedicated to the promotion of fertility charting, as a way to promote disease prevention, self-knowledge, relational intimacy, and effective family planning. Natural Womanhood helps young women and couples regardless of their income, ethnicity, or religion.

“Pro-Life” Democrat Sen. Bob Casey Rejects a Pro-Life Supreme Court Nominee to Replace Kennedy

He has just a 20% pro-life voting record for the current session, and he has received political donations from...Planned Parenthood.

By Micaiah Bilger
Life News

U.S. Sen. Bob Casey claims to be pro-life but his voting record is tilting further and further pro-abortion.

A Democrat from Pennsylvania, Casey signaled his opposition to President Donald Trump’s next nominee for the U.S. Supreme Court this week – even though Trump has not named anyone yet, Townhall reports.
“If an individual from the list provided to candidate Donald Trump by far-right organizations like the Heritage Foundation and the Federalist Society is nominated, then I am highly unlikely to support that nominee,” Casey wrote on Twitter Wednesday. “This nation deserves a Supreme Court Justice who will be guided by the principle of equal justice under the law for all Americans.”
This means an almost certain no vote from Casey. Earlier this week, Trump promised to choose a nominee from a list of 25 conservative leaders, most of whom already are judges on federal circuit courts and state supreme courts.

Pro-life advocates and other conservatives have praised Trump for the possible Supreme Court nominees on his list. He chose conservative Justice Neil Gorsuch from the list in 2017.

Casey voted against Gorsuch and joined a filibuster against his nomination last year, according to the report.

He has just a 20-percent pro-life voting record for the current session, and he has received political donations from the largest abortion chain in America, Planned Parenthood. Casey also has a 100-percent voting score from NARAL, a radical pro-abortion group that attacks charities that help pregnant and parenting moms and advocates for abortion for any reason up to birth.

The conservative news outlet continued:

While condemning the decisions of the Supreme Court on crucial freedom issues including mandated union dues for American workers, freedom of speech for faith-based, pro-life health clinics and the legality of President Trump’s travel ban, Senator Casey seems to forget that the Supreme Court’s singular job is to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America, the law of the land.

This premature stunt by previously-moderate Senator Bob Casey Jr. is not the first, and likely will not be his last, obstructionist move in attempt to block the advancement of any and all items of President Trump’s agenda.

Gosnell Movie Release Set for October, Filmmakers 'Thrilled' Given Timing of Kennedy Retirement

By Brandon Showalter
Christian Post

A motion picture recounting the harrowing story of the trial of a Philadelphia abortionist and his many victims has a distributor and is now set for release later this year.
Gosnell: The Trial of America's Biggest Serial Killer will be released in October in 750 theaters nationwide through GVN Releasing, the Hollywood Reporter said Tuesday.
The movie, which producers and Irish journalists Anne McElhinney and Phelim McAleer made with approximately $2.3 million in a crowdfunding campaign, features actor Dean Cain as the lead detective who chased the case of Kermit Gosnell, the Philadelphia abortionist who is now in prison.

Gosnell is presently serving a life sentence for the murder of three infant babies and the involuntary manslaughter of one of his adult patients, Karnamaya Mongar.
"With the retirement of pro-abortion Kennedy, the release of our movie couldn't be more timely. The movie tells the truth about abortion, something sadly lacking in Hollywood and the mainstream media," said McElhinney in a statement to The Christian Post Wednesday, noting she was "thrilled."
Gosnell's abortion facility, which was referred to as a "House of Horrors" when it was finally exposed in 2010 — dozens of aborted babies and body parts were found in jars and the conditions inside were filthy — was allowed to operate because the state government failed to inspect the clinic for over 17 years.

The plot of the movie follows the trial of Gosnell, and includes gruesome details about Baby A, arguably the most famous of Gosnell's victims, the largest baby delivered who was estimated to be around 29 weeks old. Baby A was moving until Gosnell cut his spinal cord with scissors and witnesses testified that he joked that this particular baby was "big enough to walk me to the bus stop."

The movie also touches on the near total journalistic blackout on the story early in the trial. When Gosnell went to trail the press gallery was almost completely empty. Given the scale of the crimes committed the filmmakers maintain it ought to have made national headlines in the secular media but it did not until USA Today columnist Kirsten Powers learned of it and rebuked the mainstream media for deliberately ignoring the story.

Roe v. Wade

by Bernard J. Byrne

In his June 29th column on "Next Supreme Court appointment could spell doom for Roe v. Wade", Phil Gianficaro shows he knows little of the fact that the majority of Americans are now thought to be more Pro-Life, than Pro-Abortion.

Just as in the days of slavery in our Country, when the majority in the Supreme Court upheld slavery in the horrific "Dred Scott case",  Mr. Gianficaro hangs onto the horrific decision made by the Supreme Court, in the 'Roe v. Wade" decision.

Just as the "Dred Scott decision was deemed unconstitutional and later reversed by the Supreme Court, there is no doubt in my mind, the terrible decision in the "Roe v. Wade" case will also be determined to be unconstitutional and overturned. It is just a matter of time.

Just as the Constitution states that everyone has the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, this includes all races and persons, including life from the beginning to the grave. I believe that life begins at conception and ends at death.

For those in the Pro-Abortion camp, who believe that they have the right to decide when life begins, just look at the medical facts. Every year, fetuses have substained life outside the womb, at earlier and earlier months in their development.

Since 1974, over 60 "Million" girls and boys have been aborted due to a horrible decision by our Supreme Court.

Mr. Gianficaro you brag in your article that you are standing up for women and for what you call their right to control their own bodies. Well what about the rights of the over 60 Million girls and boys whose lives were terminated through Abortion. Yes, Abortion, which is described in Webster's Dictionary as 'to terminate or cause to terminate a pregnancy prematurely'.

What is another word for terminating a life? Oh, that's right, that's called Murder. But the likes of this Pro-Abortion journalist and others, took care of this small detail. They simply changed the name of those favoring abortions ,from being Pro-Abortion to being Pro-Choice. Only they leave out the fact, that the girl or boy fetuses have no choice at all.

I'm confident that it will only be a matter of time, when those supporters of Abortion will be confined to the to the dust bins of history, just as those who supported slavery are.

Note: Phil Gianficaro is a columnist for The Intelligencer and Bucks County Courier Times in Pennsylvania, and the Burlington County Times in New Jersey.

Bernard J. Byrne is a pro-life warrior who lives in Doylestown Township in Pennsylvania.
